Top 5: Stephen King Horror Films - Ray Taylor Show Subscribe: InspiredDisorder.com/rts Binge Ad Free: InspiredDisorder.com/Patreon Show topic: Stephen King's status as the master of horror is well-earned. With 88 books and counting to his name, the author's ability to tap into the human psyche and uncover what scares us the most has become uncanny — and Hollywood took notice a long time ago. Not including sequels, more than 40 films based on King's works have been made since 1976's Carrie. In 2019 alone, we got a remake of Pet Sematary, It: Chapter II, and Doctor Sleep (aka the cinematic follow-up to The Shining).Ranked from simply scary to sleep-with-the-lights-on levels of fear, these movies all had theatrical releases (that means Salem's Lot fans are out of luck), and they all showcase exactly why King will always be the true master of horror in the realms of literature and film.Sponsored By:Patreon.com/InspiredDisorder $3 membership.*Binge full week of Ray Taylor Show (audio+Video)*Massive discount code for The Many Faces*Download raw photoshop filesInspiredDisorder.com/tmf The Many Faces - Original abstract ink portraits by Ray Taylor. Danielle Binks was one of the very first people to join us on Better Words, but we'll be honest the sound quality is pretty bad so don't try to listen! Anyway, our guest has supported the show from the very beginning and is one of the biggest champions of Australian literature for young adults and children. She is a literary agent and editor - the person who helped several of our previous guests secure their publishing deals. In 2017, she edited the first #LoveOzYA anthology of short stories. Her debut middle grade novel, The Year the Maps Changed was  a CBCA Notable Book for Younger Readers 2021 and shortlisted for multiple awards. Today, though, we are discussing her debut young adult novel The Monster of Her Age.  Our interview starts at 14 minutes.  Just a note before you begin, this episode does include discussions of abuse in the film and theatre industry as well as grief and loved ones dying.  Michelle recommends The Murder Box by Olivia Kiernan A  gripping psychological thriller about a murder mystery game that's being played IRL.  *Note: Michelle read a PR copy from Quercus.  Caitlin recommends Blackout by Dhonielle Clayton, Tiffany D. Life, uh, Finds a Way: Ancient teeth from Peru hint now-extinct monkeys crossed Atlantic from Africa. Four fossilized monkey teeth discovered deep in the Peruvian Amazon provide new evidence that more than one group of ancient primates journeyed across the Atlantic Ocean from Africa. The teeth are from a newly discovered species belonging to an extinct family of African primates known as parapithecids. Fossils discovered at the same site in Peru had earlier offered the first proof that South American monkeys evolved from African primates. https://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2020/04/200409141528.htm Offspring Song: Time on screens has little impact on kids' social skills, study suggests. Over the years, COBOL programmers have aged out of the workforce, forcing states to scramble for fluent coders in times of national crisis. Without additional funding from the federal government, it’s difficult for states to modernize their COBOL code and invest in hardware that can withstand the mounting number of unemployment requests they’re receiving this year. https://www.theverge.com/2020/4/14/21219561/coronavirus-pandemic-unemployment-systems-cobol-legacy-software-infrastructure Sci-Fi: Devon saw Birds of Prey, Aquaman, Dune, Ben tells us about Tales From the Loop, Steven saw It Chapter II, Devon is reading The Singularity Trap by Dennis E. There are many similarities in the setting and Brian is eager to watch it. 22:24 – Apple shocks many by announcing its streaming service, Apple TV+ for $4.99/month. Mandy explains her theory on the low pricing. Brian talks about the unexpected benefits of an Apple TV box he bought recently. 26:18 – Brian is finally onboard the CARNIVAL ROW and DARK CRYSTALS ride. 28:06 – Brian also watched IT: CHAPTER II. The Four Eyed Horror Reunion is complete as Blake joins Danny and Nathaniel as a permanent member of Adventures in Movies. The episode's feature segment is on the best and worst marketing tactics in movie history. The once and future threesome also talk horror movies, why Game of Thrones might suck now, and possible disappointing endings to some of our favorite shows. The show starts with the two big trailers that were released this week. Blake and Nathaniel try to discuss the Spider-Man: Far From Home and It: Chapter II trailers without ruining anything for Danny. The three then talk about two HBO shows about to end their runs. What have Veep and Game of Thrones done wrong? Why is Nathaniel not as worried as Blake and Danny. From there the new team talks about the importance of marketing in movies. From Sonic to The Blair Witch Project there have been some interesting marketing decisions. And what makes "why so serious?" so great?
