Today, we are delighted to welcome Ivan Gazidis to the show. One of the most respected executives in sport, Ivan began his career in football as one of the founding members of MLS in America, laying the foundations for the now hugely successful league. He became Chief Executive of Arsenal in 2009, spending 10 years at the helm of the Premier League club before taking the same position at AC Milan, delivering a much coveted Serie A title in 2022.  In today's episode, we discuss: Football in America: Founding the MLS - creating the foundations for success and integrating ‘soccer' into the US sporting environment.  The importance of infrastructure, from community to football-specific stadia, in creating value and long term success. How did Inter Miami sign Messi? MLS as a group of teams searching for collective value and the requirement to work together to facilitate a move like this. ‘For Major League Soccer, really the question is not how do I get baseball fans to be soccer fans, the question really is how do we get a bigger piece of the soccer pie'. How the value of an MLS franchise has gone from $5m to $1bn. From League to Club Management: How the opportunity to take over at Arsenal came about and adapting from running a league to running a Premier League club. Installing a commercial structure to build the best partnerships and experiences for partners who help drive the financial success of a club. How do you manage a transfer process and what things are considered when making bids or accepting/rejecting offers for players? The genius of Arsene Wenger; a unique and incorruptible romantic view of football.  ‘Football is like playing with rocket fuel'. How did Ivan execute the responsibilities of his job while ensuring the emotions of the fans were always considered. The most special Serie A: The story behind Milan's historic title win, returning one of Europe's biggest clubs to its peak. Leadership in Football: Football is unique as a business; it is often not clear who is really in charge. How do you operate effectively as a CEO in this environment? Why creating an open and inclusive environment for people to thrive is essential in football and what needs to be done to make this more commonplace? It's a team game: sustainable success is about everyone and never down to one component in a single department. ‘When you're in the center of a club, you are living that football club with your whole life.' Don't underestimate how much CEOs care!

Gattuso just celebrated his first year as Milan’s head coach, so of course his track record has been under the microscope. But with recent results and performances improving, the microscope is looking pretty favorably at him. Much of the attention this week is turning towards Milan’s new CEO, Ivan Gazidis. Certainly, there is always plenty to talk about at Milan. This conversation needed some genius, so we obviously invited Jovan to join us. We discussed all things Milan, especially: News of the Week: indestructible defender, political statements, UEFA list, surgery news, scoring savant, 4th place! First up, we discuss Ivan Gazidis, current Arsenal CEO leaving british shores to join AC Milan. What has sparked this move? What's the arsenal reaction to this? Sticking to the premier league, Eden Hazard is on FIRE. The man cannot stop scoring, and he's on current form probably the best player in the world. What does the future hold for him however? Will he stay in London or is a move to Real Madrid beckoning? With a contract up until 2019, this transfer saga has only just gotten started! Next up, we talk about 3 managers in trouble, at 3 of the biggest clubs in the world: * Julen Lopetegui of Real Madrid, who have no wins in 4 games now and are struggling to score. * Niko Kovač of Bayern Munich, who has had quabbles with players (specifically James Rodriguez) and has been criticised for not finding a football identity. * José Mourinho of Manchester United.....this one needs no explanation! Last but not least, we profile Krzysztof Piątek, europe's top scorer with with the help of former USA player and current ESPN commentator Janusz Michallik! It's super good!

Jimbo and James Horncastle take another trip down memory lane on this week’s Golazzo. With Chievo deducted 3 points for falsifying acccounts, we look back at the time when they were everyone’s second favourite team in Italy. A newly promoted Chievo team, managed by a former photocopier salesman, took Serie A by storm in 2001/02, setting the early pace in the title race before narrowly missing out on Champions League qualification. This is the incredible tale of flying donkeys, stolen identity and Christmas cake. And great chips. Where did it all go wrong? Gab Marcotti also analyses the move of chief executive Ivan Gazidis from Arsenal to AC Milan and what he’ll be able to achieve at San Siro. Plus we discuss an incredible comeback in the Champions League from the usually Spursy Inter against….er, Spurs.
