I just don't know how music works. I can't read music. I don't even know a single scale. And that's how I like it. - Jack Savoretti If you're a music fan (and aren't we all?!) you're gonna love this episode with the fabulous singer-songwriter Jack Savoretti where we discover the ins-n-outs of the; double-double animal-style burger, why the pesto in Portofino is the best along with the Savoretti secret recipe, how to make a Bob Dylan song your own, and where to get the best potato and onion dish you never knew you needed at 10am in the morning. War Child is Jack's social cause, he says the fact that children are caught up in conflicts is something we should all be ashamed of. Children in war bear a heavy burden of stress that doesn't cease to exist when they reach safety. To address this unseen crisis, War Child is developing a system of care with children and youth at the very centre.

Storfavoriterna Agnetha Fältskog och Victor Leksell lämnar lite överraskande listan med ”Where Do We Go From Here” respektive ”Natten Blir Till Dag” efter blott två listveckor.
When the weight is gone”.
Join Scott Mills for the ultimate celebration of the UK's best-loved pop star, who this year headlines Radio 2 in the Park on Sunday 17 September.Australia rings in the New Year first. But as a new millennium dawns, one of her favorite daughters is relaxing in LA. She won't be standing still for long.In the summer of 2000, the world entered Kylie Minogue's third and most iconic era so far. Newly signed to a major label, she's about to unleash a wave of shimmering dance-pop - an imperial phase.Spinning Around introduces audiences to a yet another incarnation of Kylie - one whose sophisticated sound, sex appeal and knowing sense of fun rockets her to her rightful place at the top of the charts. It's a feat she'll repeat with a run of hits that dominates radio playlists. Can't Get You Out of My Head, with its La La La earworm, makes waves across the Atlantic. The future looks Golden. But in 2005, a shock diagnosis with breast cancer cuts the music short. Her illness and recovery play out in public.Through BBC Archive and new interviews with those who knew her at the time, you'll track the dizzy highs and crushing lows of a turbulent era for the Queen of Noughties Pop. An era that leaves her stronger, wiser - and more determined than ever to perform.Contributors include British singer and actor Olly Alexander, Tia Kofi, Jessie Ware, Beverley Knight, Jack Savoretti, Jake Shears and Cathy Dennis (who co-wrote Kylie's 2001 hit Can't Get You Out of My Head), as well as Radio 2 presenters Fearne Cotton and Michelle Visage.
Join Scott Mills for the ultimate celebration of the UK's best-loved pop star, who this year headlines Radio 2 in the Park on Sunday 17 September. The 90s are well underway, and Kylie Minogue is in uncharted territory. After splitting with powerhouse production team Stock, Aitken and Waterman, she's joined forces with indie label Deconstruction Records, spurning the advances of a slew of record industry suits. For Kylie, it's an era defined by experimentation. A new look, a new ethos and a host of unexpected collaborations: M People, Pet Shop Boys, Manic Street Preachers, Nick Cave and more. It's not always an easy ride. As an artist, she's maturing in the public eye. Caught between the worlds of pop and ‘credible' indie, Kylie fiercely resists pigeonholing from the press and fans alike.Through revealing interviews, both brand new and from the BBC Archive, you'll witness one of pop's great metamorphoses. A process that takes the girl who was Charlene, and molds her into one of pop's savviest operators, following her own road to megastardom. On the cusp of a new millennium, Kylie's ready to dominate the charts. However will she pull it off?Contributors include Keith Blackhurst, David Tennant, Beverley Knight, Jessie Ware (who collaborated with Kylie on the single Kiss of Life released in October 2021), Jack Savoretti (who duetted with Kylie for their 2018 song Music's Too Sad Without You), Jake Shears (who collaborated with Kylie for her 2004 single I Believe in You, as well as her 2010 album Aphrodite and their 2018 song Voices), and Radio 2 presenters Rylan Clark and Dermot O'Leary.
Join Scott Mills for the ultimate celebration of the UK's best-loved pop star, who this year headlines Radio 2 in the Park on Sunday 17 September. When a teenage Kylie lit up Aussie screens in Neighbours, the die was cast for her meteoric rise to fame. Before long, she'd launched a parallel career as a singer - and left Ramsay Street in the rear-view mirror. After that? No prizes for guessing. Sold-out stadiums. Hollywood. Heartbreak. A music career spanning five decades - with hits in every single one of them. No artist works at Kylie's level for that long without a gift for reinvention. In Eras: Kylie Minogue, Scott follows Kylie as she deftly navigates a changing music industry, personal crises, and harsh critics - and never stops winning. Along the way, you'll hear the tracks that left deep grooves on the face of pop culture - and are still making them today. In this episode, new interviews and the BBC Archive reveal a star who's finding her feet - but always knows where she stands. Smart, self-assured, and in the studio with synthpop svengalis Stock, Aitken and Waterman, Kylie discovers the value of great collaborators - and the power of her own image. But Britpop is on the horizon. New relationships - both professional and personal - are making their mark. A new era beckons - time for a change.Contributors include fellow performer at Radio 2 in the Park Beverley Knight, Jack Savoretti, David Tennant (who Kylie starred with in a special Christmas episode of Doctor Who in 2007, watched by over 13 million viewers), Tia Kofi, Jaime Winstone, and Radio 2 presenters Fearne Cotton, Owain Wyn Evans and Michelle Visage.
This time around on the podcast we talk to singer songwriter and musician, Jack Savoretti. Taking questions from some of his biggest fans, we talk to him about being involved in a charity track whilst walking his dog, which musical inspirations from the past he would have liked to hang out with and even advice as a dad of three.
Jake Isaac is a charismatic singer and songwriter from South-London whose influences range from pop, to soul, to folk. Jake started out as a session musician and released his first album 'Our Lives' in 2017. On his second album 'Honesty' the songsmith started to explore a more vulnerable side of himself when it comes to love and relationships, and he continues this evolution on his latest offering 'For When It Hurts'. We had a lovely chat about Paul Simon, taking risks in life, resiliency in love, working with Jack Savoretti and Joss Stone, doing some acting, and a lot more!Interview by: Robin HignellSupport the showThank you for listening! Singer and songwriter Jack Savoretti is described in pretty much every interview I came across as both extremely talented and also very charming perhaps it is this combination that has led to Jack's stellar career. He tells us of his idyllic childhood Summers spent in the Italian Riviera, why he's grateful that his success didn't happen overnight and reveals a surprising yet delicious final desert island dish. Jack's one of the most successful singer / songwriters in the UK and has collaborated with the likes of Kylie Minogue, Bob Dylan and Nile Rogers and performed to a sold out Wembley Arena. He had an international upbringing, with an Italian father and a German-Polish mother, moving from London to Switzerland, and spending idyllic childhood summers in Portofino, Italy, where his father's family come from. After falling in love with music at the age of 15 it was a somewhat slow-burning rise to fame for Jack as a musician. He toured the UK for several years, quietly growing his fanbase and it was his sixth album, Singing to Strangers, that finally hit the number one spot. His most recent record, the gorgeous sun-soaked, feel good and star-studded Europiana – inspired by his European upbringing and life –was also a chart-topper and arguably his best work to date. He's collaborated with everyone from Kylie Minogue to Bob Dylan and Nile Rogers, and recently sold out Wembley Arena - we're joined today by the utterly delightful and extremely talented Jack Savoretti.Jack had a truly international upbringing, moving from London to Switzerland, and spending idyllic childhood summers in Portofino, Italy, where his father's family hail from as well as on a remote Bahamian island - it's a rather enviable childhood I have to say. It was a slow-burning rise to fame for Jack as a musician, who toured the UK for several years, all the while his fanbase grew and grew and it was his sixth album, Singing to Strangers, that finally hit the number one spot, and his most recent record, the sun-soaked and star-studded Europiana - which frankly couldn't be a better talking point for the podcast, as it was inspired by his European upbringing and life - that was also a chart-topper too and it was really interesting to hear the story behind that. This episode is a love letter to the Mediterranean as well as a few spots farther afield, but as the night's draw in here in England, I hope this injects a bit of sunshine into your day.Destination Recap:Liguria, Italy Formentera, SpainOxfordshire, EnglandLugano, SwitzerlandAscona, Switzerland Hotel Eden Roc, Ascona, SwitzerlandPortofino, ItalySan Fruttuoso, ItalyPierre Island, BahamasAbu DhabiSouth AmericaJack Savoretti's latest single Dancing Through The Rain which is taken from Europiana Encore, a special extended edition of his chart topping album, Europiana, is out now.If you'd like to hear more from the podcast don't forget to hit subscribe or if you use apple podcasts to hit follow so that a new episode lands in your podcast app each week, and if you're really enjoying it I'd be so grateful if you could leave a rating or review. The Burnt City is the biggest production to date from the pioneering immersive theatre company Punchdrunk. As the company takes up residence in the former Royal Arsenal buildings of Woolwich, their first permanent space, they draw on the Greek tragedies of Agamemnon and Hecuba to reinterpret the Trojan war as a dystopian future noir. The French comedy drama, Call My Agent, was one of the breakout hits of lockdown. It has spawned a Turkish version, an Indian version, and now an English version called Ten Percent. John Morton, the creator of BBC mockumentaries Twenty Twelve and W1A, joins Front Row to discuss the challenge of recreating the Parisian series in London. Fresh from a sold-out UK tour this month, singer songwriter Jack Savoretti is live in the studio to perform his new single Dancing Through The Rain. What a charming chap musician Jack Savoretti is! It had been a long time coming but we finally sat down to talk all about his Italian heritage, childhood family dinners and some of his naughty food vices! He's currently on tour so we talk all about finally being out there performing live, his new album, Europiana and he opens up about the music industry; the difficulties he overcame, the time he was asked to change his name as it wasn't “British” enough (!) and he discusses stepping away from the industry. This conversation felt very full circle to me – I was first introduced to Jack in 2012 when I was taken to his concert in Shepherds Bush – close to where I live now! There are rock bands and there is the Mardi Gras. A great bond of musicians and vocals that compliment each other on a united front. Their passion and talent is woven into every song they have written with elements of soul and sassyness. As long as there are stories to tell, there will be music… Rome based Mardi Gras is a rock act with a difference. Named after Creedence Clearwater Revival's last studio album, the band's musical journey is made of protest songs, poetry, prayers set to music, and a whole lot more. Mardi Gras has released three full albums so far: Drops Made (2006, Goodfellas), Among the Streams (2011) and last, Playground (2015), a record where ballads, rock, funk and acoustic pieces of music are the playground for the band with all their influences. Mundy, one of the greatest Irish songwriters, is a guest on the album that was mastered by Simon Gibson at Abbey Road Studios in London. As regular visitors in Ireland, the band has forged long-standing connections with some of the best Irish musicians, playing as the support act for The Frames and Glen Hansard, and sharing the stage with artists such as Mundy, Siobhan O' Brien, TKO, Micah P Hinson, Noah and the Whale, Billy Bragg or Jack Savoretti (not to mention the best Italian independent acts) to name a few. Liam O'Maonlai from the Hothouse Flowers features on the album “Among the streams” where a W.B.Yeats's poem is put into music. **Exlicit permission has been given by the artists to play the interview and their songs** --- Send in a voice message: https://anchor.fm/neil-clark10/message

Following the success of his No.1 2021 album Europiana, Jack Savoretti chats to Headliner about his Radio 2 Piano Room performance and his ever-evolving approach to songwriting.
Il suo ultimo pezzo si chiama The Way You Said Goodbye, tratto dall'album Europiana.
In December we celebrated the birth of a the boy king but in January, we celebrate the birth of another King -- the undisputed King of Rock and Roll, Elvis Aaron Presley. Born in Tupelo, MS, Elvis made his way to Memphis, TN where he made his new home and it's still the home of the King where thousands visit Graceland and pay homage to the King. We too pay homage to the King of Rock and roll but we do it Windy City Irish Radio-style. Elvis' contribution to music is unmeasurable and reached every corner of the world including his ancestral homeland where his great-great-great-great granddaddy emigrated from County Wicklow to the New Orleans after an incident where a bunch of Carlow roughens knocked him down, stepped on his face and maybe slandered his name all over the place but thankfully never stepped on his suede shoes. Elvis loved the Irish and they, in turn, loved him.
