Obwohl von Kindheit an fest mit der Volksmusik verwurzelt, blieb er anderen Strömungen und Einflüssen gegenüber stets aufgeschlossen. 1974 holten ihn die «Engadiner Ländlerfründa» als 2. Klarinettisten zu sich – eine Verbindung, die auch sein Talent für witzige Showeinlagen zur Geltung bringt und bis zum heutigen Tag anhält. Mit den «Fränzlis da Tschlin» pflegt Domenic Janett seit fast 40 Jahren die traditionelle Engadiner Volksmusik. Mit diesem Ensemble, das sich im Laufe der Zeit zur Familienformation entwickelt hat, wandelt er auf den Spuren des blinden Unterengadiner Geigers Franz-Joseph «Fränzli» Waser (1858 – 1895). Nebst seiner Tätigkeit als Musiker, Komponist, Dirigent und Musikpädagoge findet Domenic Janett im Herbst immer wieder Zeit für seine geliebte Jagd – eine Leidenschaft, die er sich trotz eines vollen Terminkalenders nicht nehmen lässt.

On 18th March 1950, 13 year old Janett Christman went to babysit for family friends to earn some pocket money. At around 10.30pm that night the local police received a call from a girl screaming for help and then the line went dead. When the parents arrived home, they found Janett's body.

Just 4 years previous, 20-year old Marylou Jenkins was slain in her home while her parents were away. In that case, 35-year old Floyd Jenkins who was probably not mentally fit to stand trial was convicted of the crime and sentenced to the gas chamber. March 18, 1950. Columbia, Missouri. 13-year old Janett Christman shows up at a married couple's residence to spend the evening babysitting their child. When the couple returns home, they discover that Janett has been raped and strangled to death by an intruder, and the local sheriff's department would report having received a phone call from Janett while she was being attacked. The investigation uncovers a promising suspect named Robert Mueller, whom Janett had also babysat for, but there is not enough evidence to make an arrest. Four years earlier, another young Columbia woman was murdered in a strikingly similar fashion and a suspect went to the gas chamber for the crime. But could an innocent man have been executed while the real killer went on to murder Janett Christman?
