People traveled from all over Southern California to experience this health oasis where happiness, organic, delicious foods and sustainability were front and center.  Fast forward to today, and Mother's has grown into 11 locations across Southern California, but the heart of the brand remains the same: empowering people to live healthier lives through better food.  Learn more at: https://www.mothersmarket.com/   More about Justin D'Affronte: Justin D'Affronte is a managing director with City National Bank's Food & Beverage Group. Although Mark Ramadan's father owned a business with his brothers, Ramadan originally envisioned a less entrepreneurial career path for himself. His first job after college was at consulting giant McKinsey and Company, but it was an unexpected idea involving ketchup that drew him into entrepreneurship.Ramadan, along with the college roommate who became his co-founder, noticed that the condiment industry lacked options. So, they got to work in their Brown University dorm room formulating a ketchup recipe that did not use corn syrup and had lower levels of sugar and salt than the major brands. That was in 2008. While both founders worked full-time after college, they continued to build their condiment business, known as Sir Kensington's, on the side until it fully launched in 2010.“We tested our ketchup at tasting parties while we were in college, then worked on the packaging and marketing for two years before we launched the company,” Ramadan said. The Sir Kensington's line of condiments garnered enough praise and sales that it was eventually acquired in 2017 by Unilever. After Sir Kensington's, Ramadan served as CEO of Hu, an award-winning, healthier chocolate and snack food company, which was recently acquired by Mondelez.Ramadan sat down with David Cameron, City National Bank's EVP of Personal & Business Banking, for a conversation about disrupting an industry, mission-driven businesses and life lessons for entrepreneurs.

In this episode of CHATTINN CYBER, Marc Schein interviews James Kim, the Vice President and Director of Cybersecurity Strategies and Programs at City National Bank in Florida, about the roles and responsibilities of a cybersecurity professional, leveling up into a CISO (Chief Information Security Officer) role, and managing cybersecurity risks in an organization. James begins by discussing his path to his current position, attributing his success to luck, ambition, and grit. He started as a help desk technician at a bank and worked his way up over the years, focusing on risk management and developing business acumen. He realized that there was a gap between the technical aspects of cybersecurity and business, which led him to focus on improving the relationship between the two areas. He believes that this focus on developing relationships and maintaining partnerships is critical to his role and cybersecurity more broadly. James's day-to-day responsibilities involve incident reviews, working with governance, risk and compliance teams, reviewing policies and controls, managing projects, and tracking various initiatives. He enjoys the variety of tasks and the opportunity to work across the entire spectrum of cybersecurity, including governance, risk and compliance, security architecture, identity and access management, and business continuity and vendor risk management. James discusses the future of the CISO role and where he sees himself in five years. He believes that the CISO role will continue to expand in prominence, with more emphasis on managing cybersecurity risks for the organization. He concludes the conversation by advising young professionals interested in cybersecurity to know the many different aspects of the field, including governance, risk and compliance programs, cybersecurity auditing, and security engineering and analysis. He also stresses the importance of work-life balance, given the challenging and stressful nature of the work.   Highlights:   “We all have similar responsibilities around maintaining a robust information security or cybersecurity program, ensuring that we have proper processes, procedures in place to report incidents; and at the end of the day, having the appropriate safeguards in place to protect client information or patient information.”   “If you've been kind of following along with current events, I feel that within the next five years, the CISO role will continue to expand and gain more prevalence with management and the board.”   Time-Stamps:   [00:50] How did James get into cybersecurity? [02:38] James's day-to-day responsibilities as a security operations manager. [04:04] Working across the entire spectrum of cybersecurity. [06:06] Where do you see the Ceo role in five years? Everyone has something of value to say in the massive conversation we call 'ART' that has been taking place since humans began. Sometimes though, our perceived flaws, prevent us from finding our voice to express what is inside us, stopping us from participating in this conversation. Being different/flawed is an asset. This is a powerful conversation about how to find our way to seeing our flaws for what they really are, our superpowers, so that we can bust out and be a part of this universal conversation.  We all have the right to call ourselves artists even without degrees - but with that comes a responsibility and Susan tells us what she feels those responsibilities are - this was one of the deepest and most significant explanations of this I have ever heard and I cant wait to hear how it landed for you. Please find the post about her episode on Instagram @kateshepherdcreative or @thecreativegeniuspodcast and leave a comment sharing what came up for you when she said this!Susan speaks directly to the listener who is yearning to take the next step into a life as a full time artist. Powerful stuff. ABOUT SUSAN LOGORECISusan Logoreci, a wildly successful commercial and public artist, has an eye condition (Strabismus) that almost prevented her from being able to make art at all. And paradoxically, as we'll hear, was the very thing that has led her to be the artist she has become. Her drawings have been seen in Art in America, the Los Angeles Times, Harper's Magazine, as well as many other periodicals. She has drawings in several collections including the U.S. State Department, City National Bank, Creative Artist's Agency, Marriott and Hilton Hotels, Los Angeles Metro, Los Angeles County Arts Commission and in several law and urban design firms. Her work has been exhibited nationally and internationally. She has also completed several public projects in hospitals, light rail stations and airports. She currently lives and works in Los Angeles. Her art comes down to this: she wants the viewer to feel the delight and wonder of places and at the same time be inspired to take care of them and always be making them better. WHAT WE TALK ABOUT -Where creative impulses come from-The conflict between realism and abstraction in art-Intentionally looking for new ways to see things-The eye condition she has (Strabismus) causes her to not see three dimensionally this “failure” to interpret every day life the way the rest of us do led her to not only see the world but also create art in a way that is completely unique to her. The things we think are our impediments, are pointing us to our superpowers-Accessing your ‘inner delinquent' to unleash creativity-seeing differently as an artist is an asset - how can you use it-The way you are different is an asset - and how you can use it. -Accessible tips and suggestions for getting grants and finding your path to becoming a public artist - her absolutely brilliant idea for the person who wants to get into making public art-How she designed her largest public art project a staggering 10,000 square foot with 28 wall pieces in Phoenix airport!-The collective amnesia that happens to us between childhood and adulthood  around creativity.
