AS THE PHASE 2 COMICS COMMENCE, TENSIONS ON JEDHA ARE RISING… For ep 126, Mike delves into the first volume of High Republic comics in the second phase, following Jedi Vildar Mac, padawan Matty, the Sephi Tey Sirrek, Guardians Of The Whills, The Path of The Open Hand and more! Mike explores this Jedha-based story, noting along the way how it connects to the rest of the High Republic while providing information along the way – this serves as a perfect prequel to The Battle Of Jedha audiodrama by George Mann (which Mike tackled on this show a few weeks prior). These comics are in Phase 2, Wave 1 of The High Republic, which is 150 years before Phase 1, making it 350 years before The Phantom Menace (382BBY). All of these comics were written by Cavan Scott and the colour artist was Frank William. Ario Anindito was the penciller for issues 1-3 with Mark Morales as inker, while Andrea Broccardo was artist for issues 4 & 5 and the Peace & Unity mini-comic. Other Phase 2 High Republic content Mike has released are book reviews, all in 2023, are; Path Of Deceit on 7th Jan, Quest For Hidden City on February 14th, Convergence on March 18th and The Battle Of Jedha on April 22nd. A review for Cataclysm & the other phase 2 books will follow, as will THR comics, The Blade and other phase 2 content. Mike has tackled every piece of the content from Phase 1 of the High Republic in 2021-2022. The first was Light Of The Jedi on March 2021 and the last was Midnight Horizon on November '22. For Starlight Stories, check episode 113 - all episodes are in a YouTube playlist, found here: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLcO1Ib_BGD8bsER_4sqfhNFfd5aoWT_YX Mike spoke with fellow High Republic architect Cavan Scott in April 2022 which can be found on this very feed or on YouTube, where their conversation has video! Last week, Mike answers the question; WHAT DID CAL KESTIS & THE MANTIS CREW DO BEFORE JEDI SURVIVOR? In this book review/plot overview, Mike delves into Jedi: Battle Scars – set between the games Jedi: Fallen Order & Jedi: Survivor. Mike gives his spoiler-free thoughts, reads the publisher's summary and then gives a spoiler warning before delving into the book's plot while providing his in-depth thoughts on the book itself and how it connects to the two Jedi video games – a perfect listen for fans of Fallen Order and Survivor! Oliver talks about the Star Wars novel that takes place between Fallen Order and Survivor!
Star Wars Day was approaching, some cool new seasons for shows were about to release; but, the one item that Star Wars fans were most anticipating for was the upcoming video game: Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. The game had recently released and one of the DetBlock Crew members had already started dipping his toes into it. Thus, Dustin's initial thoughts on the game was definitely a topic of discussion. However, before getting to that, Mike had just finished reading the book that takes place before that game and after the first game [Jedi: Fallen Order], and that book was Star Wars Jedi: Battle Scars. Both Mike and Dustin eagerly wanted to bring their reviews of the book to you fans. We'd already gotten some insight from Dustin, since he read the book some time ago. However, they both had similar opinions about the book and wanted to open up to all of you about it.The Crew also cover some news topics, like updates on the Filoni/Favreau film and the Taika Waititi potential [?] film. Other than that, it's mostly Star Wars Jedi games and book talk. Hope you're ready for how they feel about the book! Also, to all of you Star Wars fans out there... have a SAFE and WONDERFUL Star Wars Day holidays! May the 4th be with you! The DetBlock Crew bring you all of their insight and opinions about the most recent episode [Chapter 20], titled "The Foundling" from The Mandalorian Disney+ show. There will be SPOILERS within the episode, so you've been warned! The views and thoughts expressed are very fresh as he watched the episode right before coming on to talk to all of you!Prior to jumping into The Mandalorian episode, they first take some time to talk about the recent book released from the Star Wars Jedi series, titled "Battle Scars". Dustin recently finished the book and gives his opinions about it. From there the Crew start talking about some of the other books they've been reading, including the recent Thrawn trilogy and the Thrawn Ascendancy trilogy, all written by Timothy Zahn. How does they feel about the newer books compared to some of the "older" stuff? You'll have to listen and find out!The Crew also spend a little time talking about some more news updates revolving around some of the planned Star Wars movies; however, it just seems to be more of the same news we are becoming all too familiar with when it comes to the movies. They then round out the episode with the results of the most recent matchups [Star Wars: The Old Republic vs Star Wars: Lethal Alliance + Star Wars: Rogue Squadron Series vs Star Wars: Obi-Wan] for their current Bracket Challenge, which is in search of the Best Star Wars Video Game of All Time.
