There isn't a whole lot to describe in here that Jess doesn't tackle in this episode. If you're along for the ride or emotions this one is a roller coaster. She'll make you laugh, cry and maybe scream over her spilled mylk but one thing she won't do is make you feel alone in your emotions. Latch on to this episode to hear Jessyka's unfiltered rant about her shitty week. She delves deep into her emotions with her mom's recent breast cancer diagnosis, shares a few spills on how her marriage is coming back together better than ever and gets real pissed off at the expectations people place on her as an Influencer, not an politician. If you've ever wondered how she truly feels about the world, how she navigates heavy emotions and how she continues to push through life with zero fucks for others who don't bring value to her life than this is the episode for you. If you're struggling right now with the weight of the world, your own problems or anything, this episode will make you feel enlightened that you are not the only one. Jess certainly doesn't handle her emotions the “right” way but she definitely has lots of them and has learned from her mistakes while also accepting who she is and who she isn't. Stay latched! Jessyka and Keven Brunk are perfectly matched — both as a couple and as creators of fantasy gingerbread marvels.“Jessyka went to school for painting and art, and so she's always been very involved with that,” says Keven in this week's Enterprise podcast.Keven went to Syracuse University for mechanical engineering so he designs their gingerbread creations, starting with building half-scale models. The two of them grew up in Guilderland, both students at Altamont Elementary School, with Keven a year ahead of Jessyka. As the years have gone by, the complexity of their creations has increased. They now make all of their own pieces rather than incorporating store-bought candies as they had when trimming the Brooklyn Bridge. Each creation takes hundreds of hours. The couple starts working on their annual project in October to be ready for the Christmas season.Gingerbread has long been associated with Christmas. One legend, based on an 8th-Century Greek document, has a fourth wise man setting out to bring ginger to the newborn Jesus Christ. While the three wisemen from the east arrived in Bethlehem with their gold, frankincense, and myrrh, the fourth became ill in a Syrian city, giving his chest of ginger roots to a rabbi who had cared for him.The Hebrew Bet Leḥem means “House of Bread,” and the Syrian rabbi would have his students make houses of bread in hopes of their saviour being born in Bethlehem. The waylaid fourth wiseman, the legend goes, thought of adding ginger to the bread. The Brunks will make a ceremony out of destroying their creation. Early on, they had left one of their gingerbread houses — far too old to eat — in the woods for deer and other animals but family dogs found it and ate it instead, becoming ill from the sugar.“My dad thought that it should go down in ceremony after all the work we put into it,” said Jessyka. “So we shoot it with BB guns or air rifles.”“We invite people over to come look at it ...,” said Keven. “Our friends bring their kids — “And we allow the kids to touch it,” said Jessyka. The Brunks have this advice for others who might want to make a gingerbread house:“It's not that hard to come up with your own little patterns instead of buying the one out of the box,” said Keven.“Even if you do get the one out of the box, you should at least make your own icing,” said Jessyka. They both agree that following your own ideas is the most fun.****If you'd like to see Jessyka and Keven Brunk's Winne-Bear-Go creation and the other gingerbread houses in the Hudson Valley Gingerbread Competition, they are online at https://bit.ly/3s4Yhy9.Voting runs till Dec. 24 and the winners will be announced on Dec. 28. The other thing that sneezing and orgasms have in common are that they are both involuntary reflexes. While sneezing is not really like an orgasm, sneezing can be brought on by sexual arousal in some people. This is believed to be as a result of crossed wires in the autonomic nervous system. The nose surprisingly also contains erectile tissue which may become engorged when someone is sexually aroused thus triggering a sneeze or two.
Today's guest is one of Jessyka's favourite Instagram accounts to follow. Joseph Tito from @thedaddiaries.ca went from Jet Setter to Single Fatherhood to twin girls! His story is inspiring, uplifting and insightful with the most tactful touch of humour. Joseph's journey was filled with the unexpected and yet, here he is still standing, smiling and making it through one luxurious day at a time by being the best solo parent to the two luckiest girls who call him Dad. His journey to his girls had the whole world rooting for him, waiting on their phones to see if/when/how/who was going to bring them home from Kenya. Why? Because there is so much more work to do in the surrogacy world for single parents and the LGBTQ+ community. This is the story of how Joseph had to fake a marriage to a female, though he is openly gay here in Canada (which makes it harder for him to have a surrogate here) it was extremely dangerous for him to be openly gay in Kenya and the worst of it? Had they found out he was a single gay parent they wouldn't have let him leave with HIS babies. The world has a lot of work to do to get to a place of equality for ALL families. Jessyka interviews a guest who suffers from alcoholism. A tale of two differing personalities: sober and drunk are two totally different versions of this person. The latter is scary and dangerous, the former? Sweet and genuine. Alcohol has a way of numbing anxieties and past traumas but that numbing agent is an unhealthy way of coping with the demons that live inside the head of someone who struggles with alcoholism as the trauma presents itself in self hatred which causes very scary situations to occur. This episode is all about the situations this guest has been in due to their struggle with problematic drinking, the final straw to sobriety and a few slip ups along the way. This episode starts off with Jessyka & Cameron bantering through laughter about the photo evolution since the beginning of their friendship. You could say at one point it was at an “all time high”. Naturally Cam & Jess go into the main topic by discussing Jessyka's heterosexual dating history (from a very young age) comparing it to Cameron's closeted perspective. Cameron kind of always knew he was gay but the rest of his family and friends had no idea. This is his coming out story. Through laughter and lots of love for the ones closest to him Cameron recounts the stories of who he told first, the first reactions and first dating experiences. His story shows the dichotomy of confusion and acceptance. Even with a very accepting circle Cameron struggled to come out. His fears of what society would think of him over powered his ability to be true to himself. Once he realized it doesn't matter what “they” think he was able to accept himself and begin living a life he always dreamed of: out and proud.

I had the pleasure of talking to Jessyka Hagen of Milkstains and Meltdowns today and we had such an amazing chat. Jessyka is ultimately known for her fiery personality and real rawness about the hard stuff like mental illness and postpartum anxiety. She started her blog called Milkstains and Meltdowns to have a place to show what was going on in her world. She was diagnosed with Postpartum Anxiety and at that time there was nothing for information on it. She decided she would write what was going on in her life and that post went viral and was shared by Scary Mommy, Pregnant Chicken and The Huffington Post. Clearly the world needed this info! From then she has been an advocate and open book about any of her struggles and I know her followers adore her for all that she is! You dont want to miss this episode!! Thanks lovelies

I had a great time talking to Jessyka Earl about her experience with HG. She has one child from one pregnancy and she was sick right up until her premature labor and birth. She had to change doctors during her pregnancy when she didn't get the care she needed. She was also never formally diagnosed with hyperemesis gravidarum. This is common but if you're not getting the care you think you need, seek a second opinion. Jessyka's wake-up call came at about 6 months post-partum when she started feeling like she had HG again. That's when she decided she had to take her health seriously and to try to figure out what was going on. I hope this episode is helpful for you. You can follow Jessyka here or email her. jessyka.naile@ gmail.com Things that were mentioned in the episode: Zofran Seabands Stress can cause nutritional deficiencies. How to know if you need Magnesium. Why you need Zinc. Why you shouldn't take magnesium and zinc at the same time. (Take zinc in the morning with food and then start taking magnesium, spread throughout the day.) I put together a booklet that explains this in further detail. You can sign up for the download here.
