In this episode of "Streaming Without A Paddle", Andrew and Ted sit down to discuss the newly released Netflix original comedy "Kinda Pregnant", starring Amy Schumer, Brianne Howey, Will Forte, and Jillian Bell. Lainy (Schumer) and Kate (Bell) grew up as best friends. A friendship that lasted long into their adulthood. One day a whirl wind of events happens in each of their lives, Lainy thinks her boyfriend is going to propose marriage, when in fact he proposes a three way which leads to their breaking up. Kate on the other hand is already married and finds out she is pregnant. Both meet for lunch one day to share their news. Kate's news of her expecting, coupled with her recent relationship set back, sends Lainy into a tailspin as she always thought the two besties would be pregnant at the same time or at the least she would be first. While helping Kate shop for maternity clothes, Lainy discovers a fake belly bump at the store and puts it on. She loves the way it makes her feel so she steals it and goes around leading people to believe she is pregnant. During a yoga class for pregnant women Lainy befriends Megan (Howey) and they, because Kate can't find out Lainy is pretending to be pregnant, become "expecting best friends". That is until the gig is up and Lainy is forced, through circumstances, to reveal she is in fact not pregnant and has been pretending. Tune into "Streaming Without A Paddle" to find out if Andrew and Ted either took a bullet for you or you should give it a watch.

Our final stop for "A Cup Of Soup Or Bowl Week" was at Kooper's North in May Chapel, named after a dog, so it was appropriate that Kate Bell brought Nestor her safety story of true love for senior dogs. Reed's Rescue, whose mission is to provide care for older dogs, often overlooked in shelters, by placing them in foster homes and finding them adoptive families, was named after a dog named "Reed," whose name was inspired by a certain Baltimore Ravens' Hall of Famer. The post Kate Bell tells Nestor the safety story for senior dogs and Reed's Rescue first appeared on Baltimore Positive WNST.
In the latest episode of Sausage On A Fork, we're joined by Kate Bell aka Kelly Bradshaw. Kate tells us how her character went from someone who just had the occasional line to someone who was involved in one of Grange Hill's most controversial storylines; what the sleepover in the Science Museum was really like and how her she might not have been the best choice to be part of the skating and skiing storylines!
Do you work from home? Then you're probably not doing proper work, and you're causing the UK's economic decline! At least that's what the former boss of Asda and M&S said last week. Meanwhile, gig economy Deliveroo riders have launched a new campaign for greater openness around the opaque algorithms that rule their working lives. It's clear with new technology comes new battles for workers. So what is working life like in the UK right now? After pandemic lockdowns and high inflation, have we changed our expectations of what work provides? And are unions ready to lead the fight back against bad work? The team discuss what they got up to at the Festival of Accounting & Bookkeeping (FAB), coming back together for another packed episode of No Accounting for Taste. Just before we hit record, HMRC made a sudden U-turn on the decision to make permanent cuts to the helpline. Matthew, Richard, and Tom delve into the ensuing chaos and the swift turnaround in their decision. A popular topic at FAB, Richard speaks about the government consultation to regulate the tax advice market. He looks at what this means and what accountants have to say. Tom moves on to a fraud case where cybercriminals stole £53,000 from an accountant's Revolut business account. He details Revolut's response and explores the rules of reimbursement. Lastly, we hear from a special guest, Kate Bell, farms and estates partner at Albert Goodman on the trials and tribulations of farming, its need for stability and how they are navigating tax measures. Kate talks about the impact that basis period reform, double cab pick-ups and the furnished holiday lettings regime has had on farming.

So don't be so paranoid, Android, just hit play!
What a great episode of ScaleUp Radio this this one is. A fantastic discussion with Kate Bell, who's the founder of Zip Us In It's a brilliant product and is a really great journey that Kate has been on from literally being off on maternity leave and coming up with an idea and then taking it through over eight years to being in multiple countries having sold 10s of 1000s of units of the main product. We hear about her journey where she got the product into boots early on, how she went around finding a manufacturer for her products because she was literally making it herself and sewing it together with her a mother, raising some angel finance then getting some additional financing, including venture capital, investment All sorts of wonderful things and one or two great examples of things that are just practical examples of things that she wished she'd known at the time and might well have done differently and along the way, and a trip to Dragon's Den as well. So what's not to like about this action packed episode there's so much to learn. It's such a great story from Kate. A delight to have her on and I know that you're going to love this episode. How can workers shape the future of work? What role do trade unions play in the 21st century? And why is simply talking usually the answer? In this week's 5 Big Questions interview we talk to trade unionist, policy expert and employment rights advocate KATE BELL Twitter: @kategobell | @The_TUC Known for: Head of Rights, International, Social & Economics - Trade Union Congress Member - Low Pay Commission Former Policy Advisor, Work & Pensions - The Labour Party Former Director of Policy Advice & Communications - Gingerbread The Big 5 Questions: How do you measure the impact of what you do? How should people/businesses be preparing for the future? How do we build the workforce we need for that future? How do you use creativity to solve problems? How do you collaborate? Key quotes: “Trade Union membership has been growing for the last four years. I think in the pandemic many people have thought, actually I need someone to stick up for me in the workplace, I'm genuinely worried not just about whether I'm being paid fairly but is it actually going to be safe for me to go to my place of work.” “We are a democratic organisation. One of the reasons I really enjoy working for the trade union movement is you have got that very direct feedback. That's not always comfortable, it can be difficult and people can have very different views. But it's a very good feedback mechanism. It's a real advantage of working in a democratic movement.” “We've also been calling for better sick pay. Have we got the change we wanted? Absolutely we have not. The government has not budged. The level of sick pay has not gone up beyond the rate of inflation and there's still two million people who are excluded. So when I try to assess: my team have been absolutely amazing in the work they've done. Have we made a difference? No we haven't.” “We share history and values with the Labour Party but we're not affiliated to anybody.” “We can shape the future of work.” “The first thing I would advise any business to do is talk to your workers about the future of work they want. Where they see the possibilities for innovation and what that means for their working lives. There's loads of evidence that talking to your employees not only makes them happier but also makes your business more productive.” Useful links: Kate Bell's page on the TUC website // tuc.org.uk/person/kate-bell Trades Union Congress // https://www.tuc.org.uk/ Francis Fukuyama — ‘The End of History and The Last Man' (Amazon audiobook) // amazon.co.uk/End-History-Last-Man/dp/B07GFMH58F/ref=sr_1_3?keywords=Francis+Fukuyama&qid=1647535174&s=audible&sr=1-3 (The Hive eBook) // www.hive.co.uk/Product/Francis-Fukuyama/The-End-of-History-and-the-Last-Man/11400026 Musicians Union // musiciansunion.org.uk/ BECTU // bectu.org.uk/ Equity (the actors union) // equity.org.uk/ Four Day Week campaign // fourdayweek.co.uk/ This episode was recorded in January 2022 Interviewer: Richard Freeman for always possible Editor: CJ Thorpe-Tracey for Lo Fi Arts

Addressing his party conference, UK leader Boris Johnson called for higher worker wages. The speech came against a backdrop of widespread fuel shortages in recent weeks, and concerns about a lack of workers to pick crops and slaughter animals. We assess the prospects for Mr Johnson's vision with the independent economist Julian Jessop, and Kate Bell of the Trades Union Congress. Also in the programme, Google's chief sustainability officer Kate Brandt explains how the search engine hopes to become carbon free by 2030. Plus, amid concerns about students submitting work they didn't write, England is to make it illegal to offer essay-writing services to students for a fee. Gareth Crossman is the head of policy for the Quality Assurance Agency, which is responsible for safeguarding standards in UK higher education, and tells us how widespread the use of so-called essay mills actually is. Today's edition is presented by Rob Young, and produced by Benjie Guy and Elizabeth Hotson.
Over 11m people have been furloughed in the last 16 months, and almost 6m are currently on universal credit. But over the next week, the government's main emergency policies to help people through the pandemic will end. People on furlough will find out if their jobs are still waiting for them, and people on universal credit will find their benefits cut by £20 a week. The government seems to be acting like we're out of the woods of the pandemic - but are we really? With over a million people still furloughed, energy bills going up, and benefit cuts kicking in, what kind of winter are we facing? And how can we make sure everyone has enough to live on for the rest of the pandemic and beyond?
