Tässä jaksossa jatkamme keskustelua Aalto-yliopiston strategisen johtamisen professorin Timo Vuoren kanssa, tällä kertaa strategian toimeenpanosta. Miksi strategiat usein muuttuvat matkalla suunnitelmasta käytäntöön? Vuoren tutkimus osoittaa, että yksi keskeinen syy löytyy ihmisten tunteista ja siitä, miten strategia koetaan organisaation arjessa. Jaksossa puhumme mm. siitä, miten johtajat voivat käsitellä vastarintaa rakentavasti, miksi strategian merkitys pitää tehdä näkyväksi arjessa ja millainen rooli keskijohdolla on strategian tulkkina. Betoni aiheuttaa enemmän hiilipäästöjä kuin koko lentoliikenne, ja jo lähitulevaisuudessa betonia voi olla maapallolla enemmän kuin kaikkea elollista yhteensä. Tutkijat yrittävät tehdä maailman yleisimmästä rakennusmateriaalista ympäristöystävällisempää. Mutta ovatko 3D-tulostetut betonitalot tulevaisuutta? Suomalainen tutkimus etsii vastauksia: keinoja löytyy muun muassa huolellisesta rakennesuunnittelusta ja elinkaarien ajattelusta. Kauniit kaarisillat saattavat tehdä paluun. Tutkimus on tuottanut myös lupaavia yllätyksiä. Terästeollisuuden jätteenä syntyvä masuunikuona saa betonin kestäämään tiesuolaa jopa kymmenen kertaa aiempaa paremmin. Sen käyttö sideaineena voi vähentää yleisimpien siltaremonttien tarvetta. Keskustelemme strategiatyöstä tekoälyn aikakaudella yhdessä Aalto-yliopiston strategisen johtamisen professorin Timo Vuoren kanssa. Tekoälyn käytön yleistyminen on herättänyt keskustelu suuriin kielimalleihin perustuvien keskustelubottien mahdollisista mielenterveysriskeistä. Mediassa ja tieteellisissä julkaisussa on alettu puhua jopa “tekoälypsykoosista”. Mielenterveyden ammattilaiset ovat havainneet, että joidenkin ihmisten kohdalla todellisuustajun heikentyminen on mahdollisesti ollut yhteydessä tekoälyn käyttöön. Tässä Tiedeykkösen jaksossa avataan sitä, mitä nyt tiedetään tekoälyn käytön suhteesta vakaviin mielenterveyden häiriöihin. Yksi kvanttimekaniikan oudoimmista ilmiöistä on tunneloituminen: hiukkanen voi päästä seinän läpi, vaikka se on klassisen fysiikan mukaan mahdotonta. Mistä tämä johtuu? Ilmiö ennustettiin jo vuonna 1926 Schrödingerin kvanttimekaniikan perusyhtälössä, mutta Albert Einstein ja monet muut epäilivät pitkään, että kyse oli vain matemaattisesta kuriositeetista. Pian kuitenkin kävi ilmi, että tunneloituminen on todellinen ilmiö. Sitä tapahtuu esimerkiksi auringossa ja radioaktiivisessa alfahajoamisessa. Vuoden 2025 fysiikan Nobel-palkinto myönnettiin tunneloitumisen osoittamisesta suprajohtavissa sähköpiireissä. Ilmiöön perustuvat Josephsonin liitokset ovat nykyisten suprajohtavien kvanttitietokoneiden keskeisiä rakennusosia. Miten ne toimivat? In part 2 of Kenneth Frampton's Scaffold interview, we focus on his own experiences - from his early desire to become a farmer, and the long hesitation that kept him from starting a family, and his regrets around leaving architectural practice for a life of writing. These biographical threads are woven through his encounters with key thinkers – from Herbert Marcuse and Tomas Maldonado to Juhani Pallasmaa and Hannah Arendt – and with buildings like Corringham and Aalto's Villa Mairea and the transformation in perspective they represent.The discussion moves between the question of anti-capitalist architecture, the inundation of images in contemporary life, and the importance of what Frampton calls the microcosmos – architecture as the creation of “a small world” where society can begin to recognise itself.
