Brian Kesselman is cofounder and now CRO of Skematic, a compliance management and workflow software for financial services firms. Brian was a lawyer for major financial services companies who helped manage internal compliance in this highly regulated industry. He took a job selling compliance software and broke sales records before starting Skematic with a coworker and launching in September 2022. Skematic grew quickly by solving an acute problem for lawyers and compliance execs just like him in his industry. The company became profitable quickly as Brian focused on outbound selling with cold calls and savvy demos to busy compliance executives. They grew fast, were profitable in just over a year, and attracted attention from potential acquirers. In June 2024, FRT, a larger legal software company, acquired Skematic for an undisclosed amount, including some cash and incentives. Brian and his cofounder still run Skematic and enjoy being part of a bigger software company owned by a private family office that is highly aligned with their culture and values. Quote from Brian Kesselman, cofounder and CRO of Skematic "My co-founder Charles and I had worked at a number of PE-backed software companies. And we had our own opinions about what it's like to work at a PE-backed company." "The family office structure is very different from a private equity firm across the board. They're looking typically to build profitable cash-producing assets. And so that enables our team to think long-term, which benefits not only the founders and the people that are still participating in the upside of the business." "That also means that the clients will benefit because you are going to do things that will benefit the clients every step of the way, one year, two years, five years, 10 years. And that was paramount to us, given that we've grown up in this very niche industry and our reputations to us are pretty much everything we have." Ready for some real-time intelligence? Richard chats with Yitzhak Kesselman about Real-Time Intelligence in Microsoft Fabric. Yitzhak talks about what it means to be real-time - that your company has a data analytics need with an ROI affected by a short amount of time. Perhaps it's a factory making products incorrectly or even issues with response times in a call center. The process involves bringing streaming data sources into the real-time hub and then attaching dashboards to them to see data as it changes. Fabric simplifies this tooling so domain experts can do much of the exploration. Chelek 15, Asara B'teves - Rabbi Sholom Kesselman
"Money is a very interesting kind of numerical way of measuring when you're levelling up. So that's where the distinction needs to be very clear. The way that I've positioned it in the book and what the research tells us is that if we force the games on people, it's very bad. But if we look at the games that they naturally play in their free time when they were younger, it's a very good predictor in terms of the type of work that they naturally would gravitate to. So if somebody is amazing and loves playing hours and hours of strategy games, and if we put that person in front of the machine, turning out widgets is going to be a very bad mismatch, and then we need to pay them a lot of money and continue trying to squeeze them to improve that performance. But if somebody is motivated by strategy games, and we give them the kind of problems that are very similar to the type of things that they naturally gravitate to they will be motivated. So we're not creating a new game for them, but we're looking at parallels and helping them to find that intrinsic motivation. And that's something that I think becomes super, super powerful where they then create their own games based on the work that we want them to achieve." - George Kesselman Fresh out of the studio, George Kesselman joined us to discuss his new book "The Power of Play". He shares the main themes and key takeaways on how games will drive the future of work. We began the conversation with George providing an overview of how work has evolved from a craftsman environment to the industrial age and explained why we need a re-thinking of work using game play. He dived deep into the different personas of gamers in work life and offered what success would mean for his book in redefining the workplace. "So there's a tremendous amount of friction that exists there because I think we're still at the point where we're. We're using traditional insurance products that have been invented in the 1970s and trying to add this digital layer on top of it. So where InsureTech has struggled, I would say, is unless there is a significant amount of product innovation. It's very hard to really optimize the product. So, becoming a full stack was one of the hypotheses that the InsureTechs pursued, and we've seen those take off quite well in states in China, and now India is another market that's really progressing very well." - George Kesselman Fresh of the studio, George Kesselman, the president & founder of Insurtech Asia Association, joined us to discuss the intersection of insurance and technology in the Asia Pacific. We began with George's work in the insurtech industry from a start-up co-founder to a corporate executive in a leading Chinese firm within the Asia Pacific region. Then he dived deeper into the challenges, key innovations such as China's famous waterdrop model, use cases and important trends in insurtech that are converging with web3 and crypto. Last but not least, George shared a glimpse into the future of insurtech for the next few years. In this episode, I sat down for a rare opportunity to talk with a male survivor of domestic violence. Will Kesselman is no stranger to how violence shows up behind closed doors because for most of his career he has gone into impossible situations to save others from abuse. Now, he is bravely sharing his own story of surviving an abusive marriage and how he turned his own survival into a coaching business that helps others walk the path towards thriving. Will Kesselman, “Special Victims” investigator, Source/Featured on major Publications; and, Founder of Control and Power Strategy®️ (aka CP Strategy), a High Conflict Divorce Consulting and Transformational Coaching agency. After experiencing trauma both at home and in school, Will chose to dedicate his life and professional career to protecting those who've had their power wrongfully snatched from them. With over 15 years of experience, Will, through his consulting and coaching company, continues to dedicate his life to helping empower mostly women, and sometimes men, to protect themselves and their children- even potentially saving lives. Through his company, Will specializes in revealing to his clients the hidden information known mostly to government investigators, police, and judges; and, how they think and react to situations. Will has helped over one thousand women and children- and some men, navigate government and community systems, to safety. Are you a survivor looking for support along your journey? How to deal with anger in a healthy way2. The impact of trauma on survivors3. The role of narcissism in controlling and manipulative behavior"It's very easy for someone like myself, my colleagues, co workers, for us to get what's called vicarious PTSD, which is not that we lived the trauma when it happened, but we live the trauma by hearing about it after the fact, especially if we're in theThis is Will Kesselman's story...I'm a domestic balance divorce consultant and trauma coach, and I help people who have been affected by narcissism. I've been working in this field for 15 years, and I've seen a lot of anger and frustration from people who feel like the system isn't working in their favor. I've learned that it's important to respond instead of reacting to these situations because if you react, you're giving away your power. I teach my clients to cope with their anger by focusing on their words, emotions, and time. By taking a breath and changing their perspective, they can lower the mountain of overwhelming feelings into a hill.Resources:Need Emotional Support to try BlahTherapy provides therapy chat services with professional counselors or other anonymous individuals Looking for hot tea then listen here: Zavonda Parrish: How to Embrace The Past To Step Into Your PurposeEmail me your thoughts at : thyme4teamikita@gmail.com Follow me on IG Support the show

Today's topic is about the power of mindset and how to manage and control our response to others when dating. This week's guest is Special Victim's Investigator Will Kesselman, an expert in dynamic and repetitive patterns. He shares what he's learned on the job. His acquired skills in psychology, coaching, consulting, and advanced knowledge around trauma so we can sharpen our skills around judgment. Decide which people to avoid and who is worthy of our time. He'll share strategies he's used in leading thousands of women to safety. HIS theories around emotional reactions–so you can stay in control and remain in power. We'll discover that you don't have to be phenomenally skilled to succeed; you need to be phenomenally willed, and if you want to find love, you absolutely can as long as you stay determined because where there is a will, there's a way! Will Kesselman, Special Victims Investigator, Social Impact Strategist, speaker, and, Founder and President of Control and Power Strategy, a Domestic Violence- Divorce Consulting Trauma Coaching agency. After experiencing trauma, he chose to dedicate his life to protecting others. With over 14 years of experience, through his consulting and coaching company, Will continues to help empower mostly women, and sometimes men, to protect themselves, even potentially saving lives. Through his company, Will specializes in revealing to his clients the hidden information known mostly to government investigators, police, and judges; and how they think and react to situations. Will has helped thousands navigate government and community systems to safety. Will has also recently been on a "live" private FB group (for Domestic Violence) with over 10 thousand members, podcasts, and a radio show on KLAA for Southern California. Today, Will teaches us that we can respond differently to how others treat us and that we can be in control of our feelings and our emotions. Kerry Brett and Will Kesselman cover a lot of ground. Topics include; How to use pain to catapult you forward, especially in online dating. Will's golden rule of being responsive, not reactive, and how it serves him in his life. How behavior can lead to thoughts, then thoughts lead to emotions. How we feel about ourselves matters in who they will attract. How women have a gatekeeper which is usually a best friend or sister, when vetting people to date. How to get an emotional response with the words you use when texting.A big red flag to Will is someone who's not flexible; the relationship is being set up as one-sided, or the person is being too dominant. This is trouble and not going to work.Women should never settle or make excuses for poor behavior because they don't want to start over. Why it's so difficult to leave a toxic relationship because of the emotional bonding. Why women are likely to get addicted to a relationship quicker than a man.Narcissists have to feed and are brilliant manipulatives and need to have a woman to dominate. Will's advice around the mistakes women make when dating?Women need to understand they have more control and are worth more than they think. The importance of a buddy system when dating.Men will respond favorably when the woman stands in her power, and if they don't respond favorably, they aren't for you.To find out more about Will Kesselman, go to www.controlandpower.com, follow him on Instagram @will_wise_words, on LinkedIn under Will K., and Clubhouse or Owwll under Will Kesselman.

“I had the bug to do something different”, says George. Having risen through the ranks at Prudential, AXA and AIG and reached senior management positions by his early 30s, George shares how his frustrations with the corporate insurance world coupled with his entrepreneurial mindset led him towards insurtech and setting up his own successful start-up. ZA Tech, a joint venture between ZhongAn and Softbank, then came knocking. The business, currently operating across Asian markets and expanding in to Europe, offers full stack technology to insurers looking to launch digital insurance products, short-cutting the route to market from over a year to less than 3 months. George gives his thoughts on the future of the insurance & insurtech sectors and the value high-performing insurance talent can bring to a tech business. “You have to be comfortable with ambiguity and solving problems”, says George as he encourages those looking for a career change to get up to speed with what's happening in the marketplace and to seek out an intermediate step to facilitate the transition. “Most of the team are running at 110mph. In the latest installment of Cannthropology, we explore the history of rolling papers—from their origins in Alcoy, Spain in the 1600s, to their expansion into France in 1800, and the market shift toward cannabis and the counterculture during the 1960s and 70s, we'll touch on the various pioneers, innovations, and brands (including Bambu, Pay-Pay, OCB, Rizla+, Zig-Zag, E-Z Wider and more) that have driven the industry forward throughout the centuries. Joining host Bobby Black in this discussion is RAW Rolling Papers founder/CEO (and rolling paper collector/historian) Josh Kesselman, who explains how seeing a magic trick by his dad at age five developed into a lifelong obsession with rolling papers, and how he's transformed that passion into a multi-million dollar paraphernalia empire that continues to honor the long, proud tradition from which it evolved.
