Tune in to hear me talking about Self-care on Gina Farrar's Femine Roadmap Podcast.
Enjoy this Christmas episode with Kim and Host Mary Rogers of the Experience 50 Podcast.
Today on Feminine Roadmap Gina and her guest, Kim Acedo, talk about how to practice great self care. Kim is a midlife wellness women’s coach whose passion to help women in midlife motivated her to shift her focus from personal training to helping women transform from the inside out. One of the greatest areas of opportunity for the women she coaches is the area of self care. Kim realized that many women spent their time setting aside their own wants and needs to meet the wants and needs of those around them, in the process they were tired, unfulfilled, and frustrated. With that in mind, Kim developed a mission to help women begin to transform their lives through the practice of great self care starting with small acts of self care. One of her mantras is that midlife is a stage not an age and that self care is cumulative, it isn’t necessary to make it a big or expensive production. So if you find yourself forgetting to take good care of you, stop what you’re doing, grab a cuppa something wonderful and listen in to learn strategies to get you on the path to practicing great self care. www.feminineroadmap.com/episode113/
With Thanksgiving right around the corner, I’d really like you to take some time to be especially thankful for this...
After establishing her career in the public health system in Canada, Kim Hall recognized a gap in the provision of in-home, private-pay rehabilitation services. She started Physio2U in 2012, and has lead its growth to become the largest in-home physical therapy company in Western Canada. Since Kim is a trained physical therapist, she has worked hard to develop her business acumen, leadership and entrepreneur skills. In 2016, she was winner of Western Canada for the Canadian Women Entrepreneur Awards and in 2017 she was recognized as a YWCA Women of Distinction for Entrepreneurship. Kim also contributes to her industry as a member of the Board of Directors for the College of Physical Therapists of BC and as a mentor for internationally educated physiotherapists through the University of British Columbia. Kim can relate to many women in mid-life as she has recovered from a painful divorce, cared for her ailing parents who have both passed away all while starting and scaling a business with 20+ staff members.

Darla Andrews developed a passion for fitness at the age of 19 and began teaching group fitness classes at a small gym in San Diego. At 22 years old, she had her first daughter and by the age of 40 she had her fifth daughter. By age 40 she had let taking care of herself go by the wayside. She was overweight, tired and not happy with how she looked or felt. She got herself back into shape, found her passion for fitness again and transformed both her body and her life. Her journey back to getting herself in shape, led her to realize that there are no limits to what can be done when you push beyond what you think you can do. At age 49, she competed in her first figure competition and became an NPC National Masters Figure Champion and at age 51, earned her Pro Card in the INBA and placed second in the 2015 Natural Olympia.

In 2009, Tricia Kershaw started Kershaw Consulting engaging clients such as Interior Designers, Architects and International Furniture Designers. Recognizing something was missing she followed her heart and her passion which was helping seniors, so she moved into the fastest growing industry in North America…. Senior Living. Her passion for seniors started in high school volunteering at long-term care residences and then later in life helping her own family members. She soon learned how challenging it could be for seniors trying to navigate appointments, paperwork, and phone calls where you rarely talked to a live body and just basically trying to understand what was needed in order to move forward in what was considered retirement. Tricia followed her passion, loves dealing with seniors on a daily basis, and is currently working for Amica Senior Lifestyles in Vancouver, BC. For more information about Amica Senior Lifestyles visit: https://amica.ca One of the things Tricia said during the podcast was for family members to get their paperwork in order: Power of Attorney and Representation Agreement (speaks to medical, is required in BC). Here’s the description and weblink for the Rep Agreement: A Representation Agreement is the key legal document in British Columbia for personal planning/advance care planning. It is a legally enforceable document and used in case of incapacity, for end-of-life, and other support needs. http://www.nidus.ca/PDFs/Nidus_Form_RA9.pdf
