It's a gorgeous, calculated provocation.  In the summer of 1469, in Calais, the Earl of Warwick, marries his daughter Isabel to George, Duke of Clarence, brother and heir to King Edward IV.  It's another shot across the bow to Edward, who doesn't seem to understand that the kingmaker wants him out. Within weeks, Warwick's rebels crush a royal army at Edgcote and the Kingmaker imprisons the king himself in the Tower of London.  England collapses into anarchy.  Warwick, humbled, is forced to release Edward. Astonishingly, he is pardoned. More astonishingly, he rebels again. Ce lundi, Margaux Lassalle décortique le nouvel album de Maisie Peters intitulé "Florescence". Sorti vendredi dernier, il s'agit du troisième disque de la jeune chanteuse anglaise de vingt-cinq ans. Conçu après avoir quitté l'effervescence de Londres pour se ressourcer dans la petite ville de son enfance, ce projet de quinze titres marque un virage musical. Enregistré en grande partie à Nashville, il dévoile des sonorités beaucoup plus folk et country que ses précédents albums, traduisant un profond sentiment de calme retrouvé et de retour à soi. L'esthétique de ce nouveau disque se veut délibérément organique, romantique et lumineuse. L'album s'ouvre sur le très dépouillé "Mary Janes", avant de laisser place à "Audrey Hepburn", une chanson abordant la thématique d'un amour apaisant. La chanteuse se livre également sur sa vie privée, notamment dans "Vampire Time" où elle raconte la rencontre avec son compagnon actuel. Le projet propose aussi des moments plus piquants, à l'image de "Kingmaker", un duo avec l'Américaine Julia Michaels qui décrit le piège d'une relation où l'on s'oublie à force de vouloir sans cesse élever l'autre. Parmi les morceaux forts de ce disque, on retrouve le puissant single "My Regards", ainsi que le titre "Questions". Si les sonorités de cet ensemble peuvent parfois paraître légèrement répétitives au fil de l'écoute, l'authenticité de la démarche prend indéniablement le dessus. Later, Raisa Gorbachev specifically requested to visit Pamela's home, bypassing Nancy Reagan to acknowledge Pamela's role in fostering nuclear arms treaties. During the 1992 election, Pamela drew on Winston Churchill's 1945 defeat to convince Clinton that a popular war-time president like George H.W. Bush could be beaten on economic issues. Haar kasteeltje in Coppet, even buiten Genève, was haar salon en die samenkomsten werden 'de Staten Generaal van Europa' genoemd. Ze had één vijand. Napoleon. Ze kritiseerde hem en zijn ondemocratische machtsdrift rechtstreeks in zijn gezicht. Hij liet haar verbannen en de eerste druk van haar boek over Duitsland vernietigen. De katholieken vonden het moederschap en niet het bestuur haar ware bestemming. Maar daar trokken de politieke pioniers zich weinig van aan. Fascinerende mensen, voor de duvel niet bang. Leer ze kennen. Suze Groeneweg, Carry Pothuis-Smit, Aletta Jacobs. Maar ook Wilhelmina van Itallie-Van Embden, een meesterinterviewer die Kamerlid werd. Frida Katz, het wetgevingskanon van de CHU. Eiske ten Bos-Harkema, een 'rooie vrouw' die het cachot in moest toen ze een 'MeToo'-schandaal onthulde.
