It's been over 50 years since electronic music emerged from academic laboratories and embarked on the road to mainstream popularity. One of the most influential early artists was Greek musician EVANGELOS PAPATHANASSIOU—mercifully shortened to VANGELIS—who began as the keyboard player of the biggest rock band ever in Greece (APHRODITE'S CHILD), then quit and moved to London, where he began scoring films and documentaries. While the Germans focused on technology, Vangelis adapted the Romantic Classical genre to electronic keyboards, created lush, melodic, emotionally expressive music, and became an A-list film composer. It's a style that still reverberates today. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, inspired by a classic Vangelis album celebrating the world's oceans, a deep blue journey called OCEANIC REALMS 2. Music is by VANGELIS, THE AMNIS INITIATIVE, APOCLIPTIC & ROMERIUM, LOSCIL, JEAN-MICHEL JARRE, RUDY ADRIAN, and LIQUID MIND. Chalk it up to the German genius for music and technology, but technical innovations from the late 1960s and early 1970s like the "sequencer" (an early manual method of creating repeating rhythm patterns) have not only remained relevant — they've become an essential part of the language of electronic music. At the same time, the fierce, extended winters of Northern Europe created a context that favored clear, bright tones and vast, subzero atmospheres. It led to what came to be called "kosmische musik" or cosmic music. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, another wintry journey on electronic waves, on a program called WINTERTRONIC 3. Hey, last week you heard me announce my next free online summit is coming up called the Reduce Your Stress Summit for Healthcare Professionals August 9-13. My goal is to help as many people in my life heal the trauma they've been through, turn burnout around and balance work and life so BOTH can be pursued with passion. In my work as a coach and speaker, I meet other experts in the health and wellness space throughout each year, and I've asked over 20 of them come share their knowledge, wisdom, experience, passion, and expertise... with you… for free. They'll be giving short TED-style talks that include action steps you can take that very day to improve your world. You can find out more about the event at www.reduceyourstresssummit.com so check it out! As you know I like to interview artists who also write what this month's guest might call functional music, music that serves a specific therapeutic purpose beyond entertainment or education. This month, I had the honor of interviewing the composer behind the name Liquid Mind otherwise known as Chuck Wild. Chuck is an LA based composer, producer, and Emmy nominated songwriter who was in the band Missing Persons and has worked in the studio with countless artists including Michael Jackson, Frank Zappa, and Paula Abdul. Along the way, Chuck realized he needed to write music for himself as well, and launched the project Liquid Mind more for his own mental health than as a commercial endeavor. Still, 17 albums later, Liquid Mind albums have consistently charted on Billboard sales charts and have reached #1 on itunes USA New Age chart several times. You can find out more about Chuck and Liquid Mind at http://www.liquidmindmusic.com

I think we can all agree that the last year of the pandemic — from March 2020 to March 2021 — has been one of the most difficult, disrupted, and disheartening in American history. One memorable commercial starring the devil and his girlfriend dubbed it "The Year From Hell." No one argued. The unprecedented strain on our collective nerves led to a boom in therapeutic, calming, psychologically healing music and media. Much of it here on Hearts of Space was dark and melancholy, reflecting feelings of fear, isolation, depression, and loss. With the arrival of powerful vaccines and new management, things have finally started to improve. And while it's not yet time to celebrate, we've begun to allow ourselves a positive view of the future. Optimism emerges when hope turns into real, positive change. Like prayer, hope is intangible—a hazy image of a better future. Optimism is hope fulfilled, based on real events and how they're moving. Optimism inspires music with a positive tone, fresh energy, a sense of comfort, and expanding possibilities. It's a rest stop on the road to joy. On this transmission of Hearts of Space, optimistic ambient for improving times, on a program called — OPTIMISM. Music is by THIERRY DAVID, DAVID HELPLING, DIGITONAL, and LIQUID MIND. We’ve decided to extend this edition to 4 hours to accommodate a stack of new releases that have steadily come in over the last few weeks. I know this is a long session but you can always take time for a break, have a drink, or whatever you fancy. Before we get the show on the road, here are newcomers to Sequences, 4th Eden from Wales composing melodic, spacial tuneful sounds. If Massive Attack or similar got down in the mud and rolled around a bit they might end up sounding like Rites of Fall. A Kosmiche conjuration exploring spectral echoes, pulses, and harmonic figures phasing through time from Ogre. Listening Center, in growth dream-like melodies and electronic sound palettes. Michael Whalen a two-time Emmy award winner, a tour-de-force of electronic music which seamlessly blends his natural gift for melody with fresh textures and percolating rhythm, Rayspark Industries collaboration with Urban Meditation under the name of Apollo North, a collection of “experimental” ambient electronica, leaning towards the minimalist side & lastly the soothing and calming music of Liquid Mind. No favoritism intended with the opening exclusive track “Kinematic Star” by Volt, featured on E-Scape 2020, unfortunately, one of the many music festivals canceled by the COVID-19 pandemic. Day 10 of the Gratitude Course: Everything in our life begins with us. Our external life reflects how we feel internally - the way people treat us and also our life circumstances. Self-love becomes an important form of love. In today's meditation, we choose 2 aspects of ourselves we're currently grateful for. And we choose 2 aspects of our life we'd like to manifest for our future. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 9 of the Gratitude Course: Too often in a relationship we put the other person in a box; a box of how we feel they should be. This doesn't go far because the soul cannot be boxed in. It needs to continually expand and feel love. In today's meditation, we choose aspects of our spouse or partner we are grateful for. And if we do not have a spouse or partner, we choose qualities we'd like to have in a future spouse or partner. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 8 of the Gratitude Course: Family are people we may take for granted. But they are important in shaping the person we are. In today's meditation we choose members of our family we are grateful for. We choose one quality per person we admire. Day 7 of the Gratitude Course: Meditation is a work of mind mastery. We have a choice of which thoughts we want to focus on. And life will respond to those choices. In today's meditation, we choose 2 aspects of our childhood. Whether they were good aspects or dark aspects of our childhood, we feel empowered by them because of who we are today. Day 6 of the Gratitude Course: Too often we are focused on a body or health image we'd like to attain. We don't take the time to find aspects of our body and health that we're truly grateful for. This puts us in a state of mind of lack. In today's meditation, we choose one aspect of our body we are grateful for. And we also choose one aspect of our body/health we envision for our future. We feel the gratitude and allow ourselves to feel the abundance. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 5 of the Gratitude Course: We have to first acquire abundance consciousness within before it will manifest in the outer world of form. When we feel rich on the inside, life will respond to us on the outside. In today's meditation, we choose one aspect of our current financial situation we are grateful for. And we choose one aspect of our financial situation we'd like for our future. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 4 of the Gratitude Course: Too often our job becomes a means simply for receiving a paycheck. We forget about why we do what we do.. We take our responsibilities for granted. In today's meditation, we choose 2 aspects about our job we appreciate and focus our energy towards the abundance. And for unemployment, we focus on 2 aspects about a job we'd like to have. Day 3 of the Gratitude Course: Taking time to appreciate the good in our life, and feeling these emotions is the foundation for attracting more goodness. Life responds to our thoughts + our feelings. In today's meditation, we choose 2 friends we are grateful for. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 2 of the Gratitude Course: It's important to take time out of our lives - even if just a few minutes - and honor all that we have. This is mindful living. In today's meditation, we choose 2 aspects of our home that we are grateful for. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 1 of the Gratitude Meditation Course: Today you choose one aspect of appreciation about the city you live in. You may have become so accustomed to this aspect of your city, that you may have taken it for granted. But in today's meditation, we take the time to feel it and be grateful for it. “Abundance through Gratitude” is a 10-day guided meditation course that takes us on a journey into love, acceptance, and unlocking hidden possibilities. We begin with an 11-minute meditation on day 1, and add one minute per day, until we are meditating for 20 minutes on day 10. With each sitting, we delve deeper into gratitude, as we examine every facet of our lives for those special moments and things that inspire to say "Thank you." The course concludes with a powerful meditation on day 20, that takes us deep into love for ourselves, and allows us to shed layers of doubt and fear, unlocking our capacity to attract abundance. Day 20 of the Course: Today concludes this twenty day course. But your journey has just begun. The world that is inside you is as vast as the universe. There will always be more love and peace you can tap into. The further you go, the brighter your light will shine. The brighter your light shines, the more you will attract all that is in your highest good. Every breath of stillness you take during your meditation practice will make a profound impact on your life. The metaphysical world functions differently than the physical world. Every effort will be accounted for and it will come back to you. Congratulations on giving this gift to yourself - this gift of your Higher Self. Day 19 of the Course: We learn the duality a meditation practice contains: It expands our mind, while simultaneously we notice the small, simple moments in life. It expands our perception of life while making us aware of the beautiful moments that pass us by. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 18 of the Course: We learn the small acts we do during our meditation practice make a profound difference in our lives. By not judging our thoughts, we judge ourselves less when we open our eyes. By keeping the meditation discipline, we become more disciplined in our day-to-day life. We strengthen our Being, the essence of who we truly are. Day 17 of the Course: As we move deeper into our internal world, we learn that we live in a feeling universe. It's a combination of our thoughts + our feelings that create our life. We cannot be in a negative state while dreaming about our goals and desires. They will not manifest that way. This is another reason why our peace is so important. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 16 of the Course: Today and for the remainder of the next four days, there will be less guided talking and more quiet stillness. We also begin a compassion meditation towards the end of each sitting. We feel the compassion for ourselves and spread it onto those in our lives, our community and the world. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Music: "Laguna Indigo" from Liquid Mind III: Balance © by Liquid Mind used by permission of Real Music® - www.realmusic.com
Day 15 of the Course: Today will conclude the forgiveness part of our meditation. We learn to lean deeper into high vibration emotions such as love, compassion and peace. These emotions help us rise above any situation and any person's negativity. No matter the circumstance, we always have a choice... We can either be defined by someone's harm or we can see the light past the harm and raise ourselves up. The choice and the power is in our hands. Music: "Laguna Indigo" from Liquid Mind III: Balance © by Liquid Mind used by permission of Real Music® - www.realmusic.com
Day 14 of the Course: We continue moving deeper into forgiveness. We learn that forgiveness is an act of Self-interest. We forgive not because the other person or situation is okay. We forgive to release their negativity. Negative actions are a result of low vibrations. In order to move deeper into our peace, we need to release any low vibrations we're carrying. We do an exercise on releasing and rising, as you are sitting in meditation. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 12 of the Course: Today as we continue delving into the concept of forgiveness, we also learn about the human condition. All actions said or done in the outer world is a reflection of the person's internal world. The more pain that is inflicted externally is an indicator of how much pain is felt internally. Some people have a good way of masking their pain, but ultimately it comes out. And a lot of times this pain is inflicted onto the people closest to them. In the next few days, we continue to understand forgiveness, as we simultaneously move deeper into our own peace. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 11 of the Course: Today and the next four days we will move into the topic of forgiveness. True forgiveness is an act of self-interest. It's a release from toxicity. We cannot move deeper into our peace until we have released negativity. If you feel discomfort or pain at any time during these five days, breathe into your emotions. This is your time to heal. We cannot heal by ignoring or numbing our emotions. We dissolve our pain by actually sitting with them. Presence is the most powerful asset we have to dissolve the past and move into the new. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Music: "Laguna Indigo" from Liquid Mind III: Balance © by Liquid Mind used by permission of Real Music® - www.realmusic.com
Day 10 of the Course: We continue moving deeper within ourselves. And as we do this, your mind may be fighting you. Do not fight back. You may be due for a breakthrough. Before any breakthrough in your meditation practice, and in your life, could be a very unsettling time. Do not resist. Do not fight back. Breathe into this unsettling feeling and allow it dissolve so you can move past it. Think of a chick before it hatches. It has to go through discomfort before it is finally able to break through, hatch, and breathe new life. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Music: "Laguna Indigo" from Liquid Mind III: Balance © by Liquid Mind used by permission of Real Music® - www.realmusic.com
Day 9 of the Course: We learn that our peace is a discovery. It is not something we create or find. We discover our peace because it is always there, deep within us. Our peace lays beneath the chatter of our mind. And when we make a connection with our peace, we make a connection with the essence of who we are. Better decisions come to us naturally. We attract better people for our lives when we are in a state of peace versus a state of chaos. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Music: "Laguna Indigo" from Liquid Mind III: Balance © by Liquid Mind used by permission of Real Music® - www.realmusic.com
Day 8 of the Course: Today we make a connection with our body during our meditation sitting. We relax the body. And honor this temple that we have. We also continue on relaxing the mind through our breath. We learn that a stressed mind equals a stressed body. By relaxing the mind, we naturally vitalize the body. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Music: "Laguna Indigo" from Liquid Mind III: Balance © by Liquid Mind used by permission of Real Music® - www.realmusic.com
Day 7 of the Course: We understand the habits of the mind today. The mind loves to think thoughts of the past or future. Thoughts of the past generally bring up negative emotions such as sadness. Thoughts of the future generally bring up negative emotions such as worry. This is why the power of our life resides in the present moment. Through our meditation practice, we make a connection with Presence. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 6 of the Course: Today we begin exploring spiritual Truths while you sit in meditation. In the beginning intro for today, we explain what the ego part of your mind is - and how it is there to hold you back. This is part of the duality of this life. Life wants us to move forward but has also placed the ego within our mind to test our perseverance and commitment. Once we move past the ego, we move towards the quality of our life. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 5 of the Course: The purpose of today and the previous four days of sitting has been to make a connection with your breath and tap into that space of nothing within yourself - your Being. **** A note about your sittings: You may have a lot of various emotions come up. You may have thoughts and situations come up from your past that make you uncomfortable. This is NORMAL. It's actually part of the healing process. These old thoughts or situations are coming up from a deeper part of yourself to be healed. Healing (and forgiveness) has many layers. Do not be aggravated because then you will give the negativity more energy. Simply recognize it, take a deep breath and continue focusing on your breath. Presence will dissolve the old and allow you to come back to the new. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 4 of the Course: Today we continue building on the previous three days. We make a connection with our breath. And we continue with the mantra. We are still setting a foundation for the meditation practice before we move deeper within ourselves. Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. Day 3 of the Course: The last two days we learned how to sit and connect with our breath. Today we introduce a mantra. At the end of three minutes, we will have felt that space of nothing within ourselves Learn more and find support by visiting our 20/20 Meditate for Peace Facebook group. On day 2, we add one minute to our mediation for a total of two minutes. Sit with us, and let's heal the world together. Liquid Mind is the name used by Los Angeles composer and producer Chuck Wild. There are few composers with as much love for slowness in their music as Wild. Chuck draws from classical and pop influences as varying as Beethoven and Brian Eno, Bartok and Rachmaninoff, Bach, Chopin and Fauré, Duruflé and Brahms. Early live and studio experience with the Capitol Records' group “Missing Persons”, and studio work with Frank Zappa, Michael Jackson and many others have helped Chuck to develop high production values. Spending many studio hours over the years with five time Grammy winning engineer Bruce Swedien and famed producer Ken Scott has inspired Chuck to explore unique and subtle gradations of sound and feeling in his music. In November 2005, Chuck presented at the American Music Therapy Conference regarding the use of slow music in treating anxiety. Liquid Mind VII: Reflection won the Coalition of Visionary Resources Award for Best Meditation/Healing Music album of 2005. Chuck's musical experience spans three decades, including writing 125 songs and compositions used in TV/Film and albums. The Pointer Sisters, Tommy Page, Timothy Leary, Wink, Jennifer Rush, Thelma Houston, Glen Medeiros and Philip Bailey are just some of the artists who have recorded his songs. Wild co-composed music with Michael Hoenig for the Emmy (TM) winning ABC-TV series Max Headroom. In 1992, his first composition for two pianos, Los Angeles Fantasy, was premiered by Zita Carno and Gloria Ching at the Bing Theater in Los Angeles. The same year, Wild co-scored the Academy Award (TM) winning film The Panama Deception. In 1989, he co-wrote (with Marti Sharron) the song "You're My One and Only," #1 hit in Europe for Jennifer Rush. Over the last twenty years, Chuck has lent his studio talents to projects with Michael Jackson, Paula Abdul, Missing Persons, Philip Bailey, Frank Zappa, and many other artists. http://www.liquidmindmusic.com
