Happy Masters Week everyone. For me, this is THE most magical week of the year. As they say, The Master is a tradition unlike any other. This week both parts of the show are dedicated to taking you inside the tournament to give you a sense of what it's like to be on those magnificent grounds. I kick it off with Tom Patri, who has been out there several times with his good friend, 1992 Masters Champion Fred Couples. Also joining me in Part 1 is John Cook. Cookie played in 15 Masters tournaments dating back to 1979. He earned his way into that Masters field with his victory in the 1978 US Amateur. Tom Patri shares stories of being alongside Fred Couples during his run to the Green Jacket in '92. To this day, none of us know how Fred's tee shot on #12 didn't roll back into Rae's Creek. We hear what Fred's reaction was. Tom also shares some of his other favorite Masters memories, the legends he wished could have donned a Green Jacket, and current players he'd love to see win. I also get his thoughts on Scottie Scheffler's place in history if he were to win his second Masters. Check out Tom's YouTube Channel where you can get over 300 free video lessons: https://www.youtube.com/@TomPatriGolf John Cook takes us down Magnolia Lane, remembering that first drive up alongside his mentor Ken Venturi. We hear about his night in the Crows Nest and the Augusta National memorabilia he collected over the years. I also get Cookie's thoughts on what's driving television ratings down, and why the networks are trying to replace the great Analysts that many of us love. Masters week, one of the most exciting weeks in world golf! Nick and Mark loved seeing some of the pictures and videos of Drive, Chip and Putt Day at Augusta at the weekend, and were impressed with some of the young ones, but amazed at the composure of the kids playing in front of some icons of the game. But back to the Masters. Nick believes that there is nothing like Masters week, the energy, the feel, the media focus, he loves it, as does Mark. And Mark asks Nick how he felt driving down Magnolia Lane when he first played the Masters. And he chats about the overall experience of being there. Thursday this week we'll have a Masters bonus pod, which will be a must-listen. And later in this episode, we'll get Nick and Marks tips. What a finish at the Texas Open, an incredible finish with an incredible back 9 from Denny McCarthy hitting 28! But it wasn't enough to nail the win with youngster Akshay Bhatia holding on under enormous pressure for the win. Nick and Mark talk about how incredible it was to see such a performance from the young Akshay when Denny was coming for him. Mark says, in Moneyball style, he doesn't believe that Akshay would be chosen in a team environment, as he doesn't have, on the surface, the attributes you look for - yet he is developing into a wonderful golfer, and Mark loves it and this is one of the things he loves about golf, the only measure that matters is the score you shoot.A fun Top 5 from Nick, Aussie superstar Karrie Webb made this list, remember this?Pod listener Damian calls in with a question about his driver, he has just bought a new PING G430 Max 10k driver and loves it, but has a question for Nick and Mark about shafts. And being Masters week - we get Nick and Marks tips. They each give us who they think will win, and why, which notable player won't win and why, and who their respective dark horse is. Interestingly, the player Mark believes can't win, is the one Nick believes will win. Controversial.Into the PING global results, and there are plenty. Nick takes us through them all.As usual, plenty of feedback, we love it, so keep it coming either on voicemail, email or socials.Mark's turn for the Masterclass, and this week it is for golfers with 'hands of gold'.We're here each week with the great support of PING, see your local golf shop or professional for a PING club fitting. Just like they have with Nick O'Hern, PING will help you play your best. And the Golf Clearance Outlet, great prices on the best gear. Scott McCarron and I talk about his recent performance at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic and we look ahead to the back-to-back majors they have coming up at the Regions Tradition and the Senior PGA Championship. I asked him about the golf ball distance issue since his average driving distance hasn't changed much at age 58 since his days playing on the PGA Tour. We also talked about the potential of Tiger playing on the Champions Tour. He said based on conversations he's had, it looks like Tiger will play several tournaments a year but he goes on to say that their "supposed leader" PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan, didn't like it when the Champions Tour ratings beat the PGA Tour's the week Phil played his first Champions Tour event. When I asked why, isn't it all in the family, he said you'll have to ask Jay Monahan that question. Fred Lynn updates us on the progress of his golf game following double partial knee replacement surgery. We hear stories about him and his teammate Jim Rice playing golf together and being in awe of Rice bombing it off the tee. You'll also hear stories about Fred's experiences playing Pebble Beach, trying to keep it together playing in Frank Sinatra's event with Buddy Hackett, his memories of facing Gaylord Perry, and being a part of PBS's series Iconic America about Fenway Park. Paul Stankowski is one of my favorite people on the planet. I had the privilege of catching up with Paul at the Mitsubishi Electric Classic and again as he prepares for the Regions Tradition. Hello friends, Happy Masters Week! Blakely talks about her interesting trip to the dentist, and Sonja recaps her husband-free weekend full of Love Is Blind and Blizzards. What an amazing week for Ladies' golf! The Augusta National Women's Amateur was incredible to watch - Rose Zhang and Jenny Bae went to a 2 hole playoff before Rose came out on top. The LPGA DIO Implant LA Open came down to the wire with Ruoning Yin and Georgia Hall, but Yin held on to win by 1 stroke leaving Georgia in the 2nd place spot for the 2nd tournament in a row. Blakely was so happy to watch her boy Corey Conners put on his shiny new cowboy boots after winning the Valero Texas Open. Her only hope now is for him to get a green jacket to go with those boots! We're only a few sleeps away from the Masters! The girls talk about driving up to Magnolia Lane, asking high school acquaintances for Sunday tickets, who they think from LIV will perform well, Blakely gives us an Augusta history lesson, Tiger and Bryson have a falling out, and Blakely and Sonja make a bet on if the winner will cry. If you haven't joined our Masters pool, head to the link in our Instagram Bio - you have until 6 am MST on Thursday, April 6th! Thank's for listening!! See you next week for a full recap of the Masters! Be sure to follow us on Instagram! http://www.instagram.com/clubtwirlswiththegirlsHosts: Sonja and Blakely Muse:Adam Scott

NFL free agency has officially begun as the new league year has started, and teams have wasted no time to start making BIG splashes. The boys get into this week's show recapping the Ravens moves so far, some big free agent chips to fall, as well as some potential moves we could see in the coming days. Moving on from football, we get back into our World Baseball Classic talk on the heels of our friend Rochie joining us last episode. We're nearing the end of the group stage, and some teams have had expected success, while others have stumbled and triumphed much to our surprise. Next we dive into a little golf talk following world #1 ranked Scottie Scheffler's 5 stroke win at the Player's Championship this past weekend at TPC Sawgrass. With only four tournaments until we all make that stroll up Magnolia Lane, we talk about where we are with Golf today. Finally, Dante and Scoot end the show talking about the greatest sports tournament there has ever been: March Madness. Dante and Scoot both give their predictions on who they see cutting the nets, as well as some potential upsets and games to watch.

We hear stories of how she was able to get into Augusta National and down Magnolia Lane to see the final round of the 1987 Masters when she was a senior at Furman, plus, as a Seve fan, her disappointment when he hit his 2nd shot in the water on 15 during the final round of the '86 Masters. She answers Matthew Laurance's question about the greatest round of golf she's witnessed either as a player or commentator. We finish up hearing about the dramatic finish when she captured her first LPGA major championship victory at the 1992 ANA Inspiration.

There may be no azaleas, patrons or famous roars ringing around Augusta this week but when you're in level 5 lockdown in Ireland, you'll take what you can get. And what we're getting is a Masters like no other, an invite to Augusta National in autumn and one of the most timely interjections of sporting heaven we could wish for at this time. The last time the country found itself in a level 5 lockdown, sport was off the agenda but what we pined for back in April is very much on the calendar for a unique November celebration, an escape from all things COVID and hopefully, without pushing our luck too much, a first chance to see an Irishman don that famous Green Jacket in the Butler Cabin come Sunday. Our website has been inundated with all the latest from Augusta so far this week and our special digital edition Masters magazine dropped on Tuesday, packed with quality content from drives up Magnolia Lane, past and present. Our access this week has been nothing short of incredible and we're delighted to release our latest podcast to further preview what we have no qualms in admitting is our favourite week in the golfing calendar. Joining us on the show is a three-pronged line-up, headlined by live Masters contender Graeme McDowell who returns to Augusta National for the first time since 2016. We have former European Ryder Cup winning Captain Paul McGinley with his take on the runners and riders, plus his idea of the winner ahead of Thursday's opening round and we also feature an extra special interview with Mallow amateur, James Sugrue who joined us after his practice round on Tuesday to discuss his first impressions of arguably the most famous venue in golf. We hope you enjoy the listen and as ever, make sure you stay ahead of the game this week at IrishGolfer.ie

We go deep on Jordan Speith, his highs and lows, special nature and debate whether we think he can get back to his old self. Sam then beautifully takes us to Augusta National in 1986 to remember that special win for Jack Nicklaus. He had been written off and started the tournament in average fashion and couldn't make a putt for love nor money. But the weekend brought the Golden Bear back out of hibernation and the rest was history. We loved recording this and hope we continue to bring nothing but value to you. Once again JJ Nation, if you got any value at all, please help us get in front of more people. A subscribe, share or review will go a long way to help! Much Love, people!
