Would you speak about that? ****6:14 Why is it important to you to make your bed in the morning? ****6:53 I heard you say and write that it is important to keep telling our story. How do you make sure that you are not cementing one particular narrative? ****7:29 Is the essential point part of relative and absolute at the same time?****8:29 Last weekend I was with my son, and we went on a walk with our dog in the countryside. The dog killed three chicken. My son and I witnessed that killing. He is 1-year-old, and he clearly was affected by this. How do I explain this to him? ****9:25 Do you think a machine could ever become sentient? ****10:34 I read emotions are empty. The problem is I tend to attach to them and then they become very powerful and have this feeling I am right. So, my emotion is right and it gets even bigger. How could I do better? ****14:20 Where would you draw a line when your being generous crosses over into being exploited? ****15:08 Can you expand on what you just said, about how inappropriate giving is fodder for more extreme reactions?

In this candid interview, he speaks openly about his time on "the Teams" and shared personal anecdotes of where he failed — highlighting the importance of learning from failure, never quitting, and never shying away from the next hard decision when your previous one was wrong. In addition, Admiral McRaven speaks openly about the importance of followership and how leaders at every level in every organisation are a follower to somebody. Furthermore, he shared with us his leadership philosophy, shining a light on how "leadership is getting a job done with the people and resources you have while maintaining the reputation and integrity of the organisation." In this episode, we chat about how something as (seemingly) inconsequential as making your bed can give you a sense of accomplishment and calmness at the end of those busy days as a work-from-home parent. Learning the little things sets kids up for the big things that come later. We based this discussion on the book, "Make Your Bed - Little Things That Can Change Your Life...And Maybe The World," by Admiral William H. McRaven (U.S. Navy Retired), and extended his idea to a few key spots around the house that can quickly be tidied (or maintained) on-the-go or in just a few minutes at the end of a hectic day. Reflection Questions: 1. Tish Warren speaks of making the bed as a way to make “The first activity of our day not as a consumer but that of a collaborator with God,” have you ever thought of bed making this way? Other mundane tasks? 2. Looking at your daily habits what is your vision of the good life? - Are there small, repetitive habits in your day that point you to a particular view of the “good life”? What are they? 3. Can you think of a daily practice or ritual that has formed or shaped you in a big or small way? Is there a practice or liturgy that has malformed you and you may need to change? Practices: 1. As you make your bed, notice what you feel. What is tangible about the experience? Is there anything beautiful or peaceful about it? 2. Write down a repetitive, daily task in your life. As you perform this task, prayerfully ask God to show you the way it shapes you. Journal about it or discuss with a friend or CG. 3. Try to notice this week how you resist stillness and boredom. Carve out a few minutes of silence each day and invite God into that time. 4. Notice small moments of stillness in a day- waiting at a traffic light or for your coffee to brew. Embrace those moments by letting them remain empty and quiet. 5. If you have a smartphone, put it away for a morning, afternoon or day and reflect on that experience.

Increase productivity and finish your tasks faster by making your bed. Do you make your bed every morning? Are you looking for ways to increase productivity? Making your bed every morning is linked to increased productivity, reduced stress, and a greater sense of well-being. When you increase productivity you are able to get more tasks done for the day. By increasing your productivity you are improving focus and concentration. When you don't make your bed you are actually decreasing productivity by reinforcing unhealthy habits and patterns. If you are not able to do something as small as making your bed, how will you be able to complete the bigger tasks in life? Increasing productivity will help you achieve your goals faster and without procrastinating. Increasing productivity also helps to create a healthy mindset with positive patterns. When productivity is decreased we lose focus, feel less motivated, and get lazy. What if making your bed in the morning can change your life? How you do the little things in life is how you do the big things. In the military when they loose a battle and they investigate the reasons. The most common reasons why they lost is because they lost discipline in their personal life.Thats why the military knows the importance of how you do the little things is how you do the big things. Of course we are not dealing with peoples lives..but we are dealing with peoples livelihoods. How does washing the dishes, washing the car, doing laundry, picking up your house and making your bed reflect in your life?

I never used to understand people who made their bed. Why bother taking the time when you are going to be getting back in and making it messy at the end of the day anyways? I am inherently a slob and tend to be suspicious of those whose living space smell of Windex and resembles a vacated crime scene. What are they trying to hide?? But, awhile back I read a quote from Commander Navy Seal, William H Mcraven, that peaked my feathers. “If you want to change the world, start off by making your bed. If you make your bed every morning, you will have accomplished the first task of the day. It will give you a small sense of pride, and it will encourage you to do one task and then another. And by the end of the day that one task completed will have turned into many tasks completed and It will reinforce the idea that the little things in life matter.” A recent study showed that “71 percent of bed makers consider themselves happy, while 62 percent of non-bed-makers admit to being unhappy.” Find out the benefits of making your bed in today's episode!     Share the love If you haven't already, I would be so very grateful if you rated and left me a review of the podcast.
