Is this real life? Are we in the Matrix? Am I actually dreaming? What is sleep? Have we asked all of that already? Clearly we is living in some wild and hectic times and none of us want answers to those questions. Although we probs aren't in the Matrix, so phew for that one at least. Anyway it's a much looser edition of the podcast this week, for a start both Em and Michael weren't feeling the visual aspect of the pod, so no videos were filmed during the making of this episode. Em did however do some on camera work during the recording of her intro, so you will get some tele-visual one on one time through our socials, promise. A lot of this podcast is Em and Michael working through the wild and hectic times we're currently experiencing, which means we need to call attention to the tension, anger and fed up vibes that seem to be hanging around all of the things right now. So we begin with an explain of why they're both feeling like burnt out husks of humans, which means there's living in activewear to cover off and also Michael's lockdown smell to break down and analyse. Em offers up her vibe cleansing tips as a solution to that particular brand of stink, then it's on to dealing with the energy that we all seem to be sharing right now. It's like we're all bored and angry and on edge and it's starting to feel suffocating, and if one person does anything we perceive to be wrong, it doesn't seem to even matter the size or the scope of the transgression, if enough people decide it's on, then it is well and truly ON. The nostalgia of last year's lockdown, where we could all join together and watch the numbers go down, has well and truly disappeared. Thankfully both Em and Michael have found a way to feel the anger, but also how to keep it to themselves and not unleash it onto the world wide web. So the Nadia Bartel situation is what we unpack first, it's created a bajillion feature articles and think pieces for the media, and a heap of consequences for Nadia. Then we move onto Guy Sebastian back peddling on the entertainment industry campaign to encourage people to get the vaccine, created so we can get the live performance industry back up and running. Michael has a take on all the outrage that impresses Em so much that she encourages him to repeat it in a calm, soothing voice, in the hope that it offers up the salve we're all desperately searching for. After we've talked through all of that, we slide into the joys of TV that isn't reflecting anything to do with Covid, from re-watching Schitt's Creek for the 27th time, to viewing the newest version of Cinderella that combines a bunch of girl boss energy with wall to wall 90's pop music mashups. Em loved it (James Corden got served some Billy Porter sass which apparently is worth the price of admission), Michael not so much (he needed more Gin), Scott walked out half way through. Finally we need to drop in on Em's fever pitched online shopping efforts. She's also crafted and decorated almost every inch of her house and is ready to move into Michael's space to start force styling him into oblivion too, seems normal. So before you rage tweet or start a Facebook dumpster fire online, maybe take a deep breath or two, plug this podcast into your headphones, and force yourself into nature for a giggle and some low key huffy puffy while you listen, or just consume this while wearing yesterday's clothes on the couch, while you mindlessly push such and such from the back of the fridge into your eating hole. Australia feels more divided than ever, which was shown clearly over the weekend with Father's Day celebrated across barricades on the QLD-NSW border. But will the snarking between state leaders create divides that will last beyond the pandemic? Plus who is Nadia Bartel, and what did she do to upset so many people? And, from Brad to Weinstein, to human rights; Angelina has spoken out and it's a LOT to take in. On today's show... Nadia Bartel, has been caught snorting what appears to be cocaine at an illegal party on Thursday night in the midsts of Melbourne's 6th lockdown. Nadia's best friend and business partner, Ellie Pearson is believed to have accidentally shared the video to her Instagram story. It comes just days after Nadia's divorce to ex-Geelong player Jimmy Bartel was finalised. The video which has gone viral across social media, is raising eyebrows for a completely different reason… Many followers were surprised by Nadia's cheap choice in crockery, leading to a heated debate over whether the plate in question is from Kmart of Ikea.

She’s the glamorous, fashionista that has become an Australian style icon. Nadia Bartel owns a highly successful fashion label, ran a popular fashion blog, managed a high-end e-commerce store and is a mum to two boys. However, often in the media she is reduced to simply the status of a WAG. Today on her 36th birthday, we take a look back at who is really behind that WAG status, from her life in magazines, to that infamous breakup. Plus, Skye Wheatley throws shade at a mystery influencer for not tagging her clothing brand after reaching out for a collaboration. AND Maura Higgins and Chris Taylor shock fans by calling it quits on their relationship.
In episode sixty five of the Glow Journal podcast, host Gemma Watts talks to the co founders of Spray Aus, Emily McKay and Ellie Pearson. In 2014, both working full time office jobs, Em and Ellie knew that solariums were set to close given increased awareness of the health repercussions of UV tanning. Determined to maintain the bronze glow they’d grown accustomed to year round, they took a spray tanning course with little intention beyond tanning themselves and their friends. It was the very moment when their best friend Nadia Bartel (now a co-owner in the business alongside Em, Ellie and Bec Judd) posted about their mobile tanning to her hundreds of thousands of Instagram followers that Ellie and Em found themselves trust into the world of business. They started receiving enquiries upon enquiries, often driving to and from tanning appointments before and after work (and during their lunch breaks) purely to meet demand. They soon relocated their appointments to their own bathrooms and, eventually, quit their desk jobs to focus on their new business full time- and so, Spray Aus was born. After a year or two of using formulas by other brands, Ellie and Em got in touch with a manufacturer to develop their own professional tanning solution. Today, the Spray Aus offering consists of professional tanning formulas, a home tanning range and accessories, three standalone studios with more on the way, and almost 12 months ago to the day, the brand was picked up by Mecca for distribution across Australia and New Zealand. In this conversation, Ellie and Emily share why it’s important to trust your gut during the hiring process, how to determine whether or not your “side hustle” business model is sustainable enough to leave your job for, and the peaks and troughs of learning while physically in the deep end.Read more at glowjournal.comFollow Spray Aus on Instagram at @sprayausDiscover Spray Aus at sprayaus.com.auStay up to date with Gemma on Instagram at @gemkwatts and @glow.journal, or get in touch at hello@gemkwatts.com See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
