This week on the Electronic Wireless Show PC gaming podcast we're talking about the best our favourite noble failures, like the time I tried to make feta and red onion breakfast muffins. Ne'er touch the muffin pan since. No, of course it's our favourite video games that made big swings but didn't quite hit, a Nate Crowley-backed themed - and he kicks us off with a bid discussion about the infamous Jurassic Park tie-in game Trespasser. Try spelling "Jurassic" properly first time; I've never been able too. Diversions this week are discussing classic UK subterranean tourist attractions Wookey Hole and Cheddar Gorge, and how Matthew's life could have been different if only he'd been Wookey Hole's witch mascot. Nate has bought a model kit for one of those massive excavation machines, which he says is "about as big as an Alsatian" and "basically a bin-bag full of girders". So he is turning it into an Orc sewage treatment plant. Standard week to be honest.

Is running a zoo like management game Planet Zoo? We talk to a zookeeper about picky polar bears, high-strung cheetahs, and escaping monkeys.
CW: possession, body horror, use of corpses, insects, uncertain reality "But you know what unites the theories we had about that place? In all of them, the Cut is subject. It’s something attached, a barnacle lodged to the city. But the Cut is not addition or reflection or parasite. It’s not mirror, but window - mud-caked, fogged and frosted. If we’re lucky, we can spy glimpses of the silhouettes inside. We can see the wonder, a whole ecosystem - spirit-grown and built from alien perspective." ~~~ For millennia, the Winter’s Lodge has sat as anchor in the midst of the Cut. An enormity of forlorn architecture, stubborn and static. In that time it has been multitudes - temple and estate, battleground and meeting place, staging-post and hideout. For the last few centuries though, it has been home to a covenant of weavers and spirits. They have turned it into a sanctuary, a halfway-house, a home. It is here that Oken wakes. He finds himself in a room unexpectedly warm and comfortable, but this is not to last. The weavers of the lodge have taken on uncanny housemates. Mel is here - amongst her rebuilt hivemind - and she means to hold Oken to his promises. ~~ PEOPLE ~~ Carn nim Daker: The slayer of Caerdroia and Rodella, the founder of the Jackals. Eviron Yves: A weaver. The Winter’s Lodge, look to their wisdom for guidance. Lillylium: An ancient and powerful envoy, rumoured to have survived Caerdroia. Mel: Once an envoy of the remnant, Relict. Brought to Embrace with Oken, she has rebuilt her gestalt consciousness beneath the city. Soka: A teenager who tried to rob Oken’s sanctum. She is now a part of Mel’s hivemind. ~~ FACTIONS ~~ The Winter’s Lodge: A group of weavers and spirits who call the lodge their home. They provide a halfway-house to those who need it, largely ghosts new to the Cut. ~~~ Episode title from Leisure Bees by Tacocat. ~~~ Follow the show on twitter @flimsyrituals Find our website at flimsyrituals.com Chat to us on Discord ~~~ Hosted by Adam Dixon. This week we have an extra special treat for you! It does mean we don't talk about PC games at all, though. Well, we do, but we talk about fake ones that we've made up. Today we're joined by special guests Meg from EGX and ReedPop video producer Dean to for an actual play of our new free tabletop RPG, EGX Rezzed The RPG!
In this episode me and Nate Crowley lay some idea eggs live for your edification. Following his hugely-popular previous appearance on the show, writer Nate Crowley returns to help me practise the dark art of coming up with lots of ideas. I gab about creativity a lot but I thought it was about time to put my money where my mouth was. We attempt to create film pitches on the spot for an imagined wealthy but bizarrely-capricious producer, using a system of dice and random concepts. Along the way we discuss creativity, the three principles behind getting more and better ideas, and invent a tragic new street drug. This is a great episode to listen to if you want to know: - how can I come up with ideas for stories? - how can I make my ideas original? - how can I make my film pitch original? - what's the best way to combine ideas? On this episode I chat to author Nate Crowley about ideas - specifically the incubation, hatching and rearing thereof. Lots of discussion of how to generate ideas, how you know when an idea is ready, how to turn an idea into a story, as well as in-depth chat about world-building, good and bad. We go quite deep into a lot of SF, Fantasy and genre chat, but the talk should be accessible for all authors who care about ideas and originality and giving their readers an experience they won't soon forget. After going off on our summer holidays we’re back! But does this count as a new season or not? The official OLL Style Guide isn’t clear on the matter but we’ve taken a chance and decided that the fifteenth season starts here. This is what we did on our holidays: - Simon blanked both Ste and (FOTS) Rami in Germany - Ann and Ste went to an esport - Simon got annoyed by Sonic Mania - We all found out that you can do other stuff on a Monday other than make a radio show So in other words, it was business as usual. At least with Simon being back we managed to book a Super-Special Guest. Book being the special word as the SSG was Nate Crowley, author of 100 Best Video Games (That Never Existed). The book started life as a series of tweets to avoid writing a book, which seems a strange way of not writing a book. We found out what was the first game that Nate made up and how many people have been tricked by the book. We’re offering up our copy in an auction so put your bids in. Cheerio! The team also delve into the finale of Twin Peaks and try to work out what actually happened in that final episode. Plus regular Geeky Goings On. But wait, there's more! We also chat about lunchbox dwellers, Phil's new man-bag, a re-working of a Beatles classic and the continuation of Keith's Chilly's Bottle! It's like an expansion pack of Geek!
