A successful podcast entrepreneur, as well as the founder and CEO of Ginni Media — a podcast strategy and creation company that serves both big-ticket clients and fledgling entrepreneurs with quality audio strategy, monetization, community building, and production tips — Ginni Saraswati, is the audio authority. After all, Saraswati, who has hosted a few morning radio shows, has embraced audio since….what? Radio?! Saraswati shares her journey from Sri Lanka to Australia to the U.S. and details her experiences in radio and podcasting. She also discusses the challenges she faced with racial intolerance and what it was like to come out as queer to her traditional family. Not for nothing, but Saraswati is keen on all creators staying true to their values — and preaches the power of authenticity in business. With characteristic authenticity, she recalls the business idea that failed and how she learned invaluable lessons from her mistakes as an entrepreneur. Listen to Saraswati delve into gender imbalance in podcasting as she speaks about being a woman in a male-dominated industry — and stick around for her tips for women looking to pursue their business dreams, on this episode of SheVentures Podcast. Highlights: Saraswati talks about radio and podcasting, her passions for more than a decade, producing award-winning content focused on pop culture, music, entertainment, and the LGBTQ+ community. What it was like to interview celebrities like Paula Abdul and be the host of two-morning radio shows in Melbourne, Australia As a Sri Lankan immigrant to Australia, Saraswati speaks about her cultural acclimation.  Entrepreneurship involves personal and professional transformations, including overcoming fear, reckoning with imposter syndrome, and learning to delegate tasks. Saraswati recalls coming out — and how she found support in the LGBTQ+ community. Facing discrimination and stigma, Saraswati found solace in the community and used her platform to amplify voices. Saraswati discusses the gender imbalance in podcasting and content creation and attributes it partly to obstacles and judgment women face. Representation is crucial in podcasting, and Saraswati's journey shows how important it is to amplify diverse voices. A failed event business, Blink, taught Saraswati that having a greater purpose is essential for success. She started Ginni Media as a side hustle and won five clients before quitting her day job. Today, her client roster includes Cynthia Rowley, Allure, Siemens, and many entrepreneurs. Saraswati faced numerous challenges in her entrepreneurial journey, including losing all her money. Ginni Media grows through referral clients, prioritizing quality over quick growth. Reviewing how podcasts can be monetized — and how to decide what is right for you Saraswati encourages people to reach out to her on Instagram at @ginnimedia or @theginnishow

Grand Rising my friends, on this Sunday. I'm currently hurled up in the Australian Capital Territory about to walk into my best friend's baby's baptism. For the first time in 9 years, Podcasting hasn't grown in audience numbers. So it's got me thinking. Now is a good a time as ever to get super intentional about your content. Now I can hear my creatives in the background moaning and groaning…. But really, this is an opportune time for everyone to really think about the content they are putting out. What are some conversations you can share on your podcast that will connect with a listener? How long does this conversation need to be? Really think about it. We've had nearly two and half years of solid information overload - so what are some ways this may have effected your audiences? Welcome to this weekend's Pod Ponder. I'm Ginni Saraswati, [echo sound effect] expanding your mind and [possible cave/spelunking sound effect? along these lines] exploring your brain. It's Saturday once again my friends, which can only mean one thing: it's time to challenge your perceptions, think outside the box and—well… ask you a really offbeat question!Picture it: You've just awoken on a beautiful spring morning, the sun is shining, and it's time for you to go off to your office job… where you'll spend the next 8 hours behind a computer, inside a cubicle. If you're anything like me, you've probably had this exact experience many times over. In fact, maybe you're having it right now.But imagine: instead of experiencing a bland 9-5, you enter the building at 9 only to find yourself immediately back in the parking lot at 5—with seemingly no time having passed at all. [record scratch] Somehow, you've skipped the actual work experience. For our ponder this week, we're drawing inspiration from Apple TV's new dark comedy Severance, which lampoons modern corporate culture. On the show, workers undergo a voluntary procedure in order to surgically sever their brains into two sections: one for personal life and one for work life, allowing the employee's outside brain to live a blissfully work free life, while subjecting the inside brain to an endless cycle of drudgery without respite. So, what say you, ponderers? If you could, would you undergo this so-called “severance” if you never had to experience work again?Well, that does it for this week. In this week's Pod Review, sooooo many things have been happening in podcasting, news and media that all of it kind of felt a little like a slap in the face.Listen, the incident I'm referring to has gotten enough attention, so I WILL not refer to it, but let's just say, that was a moment that most certainly did not Rock. To PodNews this week, The Weebys have decided to do their own thing when it comes to podcast awards. That's right. Last week, and only a week after The Ambies (aka The Podcast Academy), The Weeby's launched The Signal Awards, set to take place in Jan 2023.Popular company Rode are now producing their own headphones to add to their audio / audible yet not edible products. And the latest Edison Research report on the key statistics in podcasting for 2022 were released just over a week ago. And, the key takeaway here is: For the first time in 9 years, podcasting didn't grow. So what does this mean for us podcasters, pod-crazed and producing folk? There are two demographics that are currently underserved in podcasting. Listeners aged 12-34 and 55 and over. Senior Vice President of Strategy and Marketing at Edison Research, Tom Webster says that the industry will “only keep growing if the entire industry makes a concerted effort to tell the story of podcasting to all Americans.” So podpoppers, we must continue to review our content and see where our shows can serve the needs and interests of these audiences.I'm Ginni Saraswati and that's this week's PodReview. Welcome to this weekend's Pod Ponder. I'm Ginni Saraswati, expanding your mind and exploring your brain.Happy Saturday, dear listeners. It's that time again for some mental calisthenics! This week's ponderous ponder begins on November 24, 1971. A well dressed man in a suit and tie boards Northwest Orient Airlines flight 305 in Portland, Oregon enroute to Seattle. He takes his seat, orders a bourbon and soda and, shortly after takeoff, hands a flight attendant a note indicating that he has in his possession a bomb and intends to hijack the plane. He demands $200,000 in US currency and four parachutes.Eventually, his demands are met, no passengers are harmed, and the man—soon to be infamous as D.B. Cooper—disappears from an airborne plane into the night, never to be seen again. A very strange story, indeed. And one that remains unsolved to this day!So, dear listeners, I ask you: if you could solve any one unanswered question from all of history, which would you choose? Maybe the mystery of Jack the Ripper's identity? The Bermuda Triangle? Perhaps even the death of Edgar Allen Poe?Well, I don't know about you, but I think it's time to turn some lights on around here and focus on something a little less… creepy...That does it for this week. Those were the culinary dark ages for kids everywhere…forced to stare at lackluster plates, pushing peas around their plates with forks, and no toy rewards tucked into the depths of playful boxes. Boooooring…..Well, it seems podcasting too, has finally begun packaging audio for young ears. In the past 2 years, podcasts in the kids and family category have seen a 20 percent increase in listenership according to Edison Research. The famous PBS Cartoon Arthur ended a 25-year run in February, but was quickly scooped up and resurrected as a podcast by Gen-Z Media this year. The Ambie's added, for the first time, an award category for Best Kid's Podcast, which featured kid-approved favorites Nice to Meet You and The Big Fib. Heavy hitter studios like Warner Bros, Spotify, and Wondery are also growing their younger audiences with youth-oriented shows. Low-code was not built as a full replacement hard coding. In fact, in most cases, it complements it by accelerating the software development process. It therefore shouldn't be viewed as the answer to everything even though it's a perfect answer for many scenarios. Among hundreds of other things, the irruption of social media gave means to virtually every person on the planet to share their voices, knowledge, opinions, and, of course, market their businesses. Although podcasting is not considered a social media per se, it certainly does a great job at offering people the chance to share their voices and opinions, and needless to say, market their businesses. The best part is that it requires only three things: a computer, a reliable wifi connection, and a microphone. Visiting us today is Ginni Saraswati, Founder & CEO of Ginni Media, Entrepreneur, Contributor at Entrepreneur and Rolling Stone. Ginni is also the Host, Writer, and Executive Producer of The Ginni Show podcast, Co-Founder of Metro Podcast Studio, and The Podcast Accelerator USA. In this episode, we get into the nuts and bolts of podcasting, its rapid evolution, and the role it plays in people's day-to-day communication. We also explore the relevance of culture in a company's development and growth, Ginni's experiences managing a 100% remote company, and the challenges of working with freelancers and, at the same time, creating a family environment. Ginni also described what it takes to start a podcast and the best ways to do it. Stay tuned to the end of the interview where I'll give you some actionable insights that I learned from my guest. These insights are also in the show notes. As always, thanks for listening.  Now on to my guest for today, Ginni Saraswati, founder of Ginni Media and host of an award-winning podcast about life as a gay Sri Lankan-born woman growing up in Australia. Ginni's first entrepreneurial attempt was an art show which she advertised on a foam board. Twenty years later, she found herself in traffic on her way to a corporate job and realizing she wanted something else. Having already cultivated a strong interest and skills in media and production, she started Ginni Media, a podcast production company. Ginni leads a team of 27 freelancers from around the world to produce content for thought leaders, influencers, and more. Leading a diverse team remotely is not without its challenges, but Ginni always puts people first. She approaches her business clients in the same way, by shooting for exceptional customer service and cultivating loyalty. Ginni plays the long game - focused on retaining clients - rather than the quick sale. While she's willing to give away services to some extent, she's also keenly aware of the importance of boundaries. Ultimately, for Ginni, being a successful entrepreneur is about self-awareness, the willingness to acknowledge mistakes, and always striving for the best.  Now, let's get better together. Actionable Insights Not surprisingly, Ginni thinks self-awareness is critical for anyone going down the entrepreneurial road, which she calls a journey of “profound self discovery.”  Ginni's philosophy is to “shoot for exceptional,” because even if you fall short, you'll still be doing better than most. Success is a long game. In order to cultivate a strong customer relationship and loyalty, be helpful and don't focus on just the immediate gain.  Links to Explore Further Ginni Saraswati on LinkedIn Ginni Media The Ginni Show Keep In TouchBook or Blog or Twitter or LinkedIn or JSYPR Learn more about your ad choices.
