Nik B. Is a recovering Sexaholic, Co-dependent, compulsive binge eater and a grateful member of the SAL fellowship. With the Grace of God, a change of heart and rigorous honesty Nik has 2.5 years of sobriety from sexual addiction. His first spiritual awakening was when he became aware of his own ignorance after living a life of self-will run riot. Nik now strives to live a life of quality… with feeling his emotions, making decisions based on integrity, and continuing to practice his conscious contact with God. Keeping idle isn't an option; constantly taking action is the pathway to his peace. Carrington S. is a proud/grateful member of Alcoholics Anonymous. Her sobriety date is 11/18/2013. Carrington lives her life by the great words of Britney Spears “you better work”. Leaning into the unknown and trusting in the care of her higher power has been the key component of Carrington's recovery,“Hope is praying for rain, faith is bringing an umbrella”. Carrington knows that taking action has been the key ingredient to sustainable transformation and that “faith without works is dead”. They speak to us today on Stepping Into Action.Reco12 is all about exploring the common threads of addiction and sharing tools and hope from those on a similar path. We gather from diverse backgrounds, faiths, and places to learn and support one another. Our speakers represent various fellowships, addictions, and afflictions, thus showing the common threads of recovery, no matter our addiction or affliction. In the Thanksgiving replay of this POWERFUL meeting, Matt D shares on how he eventually became grateful that he is married to a sexaholic woman. Here is a little about Matt D: Matt's wife's sexaholism brought him to the S-Anon fellowship in December 2021 as a homicidal, suicidal lost cause. After a slow start, he learned through the principles of the 12 steps and the tools of S-Anon to love God, his wife, his children, and his fellows, and to takesolution-based action to break the patterns of co-dependency in his life. The lessons he's learned in S-Anon have also helped him to tackle his drug and alcohol addictions. Will you watch the Maya Rudolph Super Bowl Ad? The Super Bowl grass surface: Roll it out and roll it up? Fireball stoops lower than its own customers. A young reindeer?
Before joining SA, I did activities with a hidden agenda- to spot or be spotted by a “potential husband”. I cringe when I think about these crazy motives. As I was doing Step Four, my sponsor asked me if I would accept life if I never got married. It was a very tough question and I felt justified in my dream of getting married some day; however, she opened my eyes to see that I could still live and enjoy life as a single woman. It is in SA that I learned to pursue fun activities with no hidden lust motives.
This morning in the hybride Manchester, US “Not a Glum Lot meeting,” we read the first story “I'm a Sexaholic” from Member Stories 2007. The text from The Real Connection today was entitled “Hidden Desires” and talked about riding a motorcycle too close to the edge of the Grand Canyon. While my fellows were sharing, I spontaneously penned down a text.
Guest Intro and Bio in Eric's own words: Today I celebrate my 2 year sobriety birthday! I've been a Sexaholic forever, and finally, two years ago, I was finally ready to admit to myself that my life was a mess. My addiction was taking over all aspects of my life and I saw a vision of everything I claimed to care about slipping away. I came into SA on the heels of an emotional affair that ended in 2019. I truly thought at the time that I was going to have to suffer with this affliction for the rest of my life. SA and my HP saved my life. The thing I craved most and never got as a child was emotional connections. I've found the Real Connection here in the rooms of SA and it's given me the tools to use to make those connections in all aspects of my life. Reco12 is an organization with the mission of learning and sharing the similarities of addiction of all kinds and gaining and sharing tools and hope from others who are walking a similar path. Speakers from our past meetings have represented many, many fellowships and identify with addictions with such variety of alcohol, drugs, food, sex, gambling, theft, just to name a few. Each Friday at noon central time, we hold a live, lunch-hour speaker meeting with a recovering addict from anywhere on Earth, pertaining to any or no faith tradition, and with any background, who shares their experience, strength, and hope on a specified recovery topic of their choice. They share for 20-25 minutes on that topic, and then the live audience gets the opportunity to ask questions of that speaker for another 20-25 minutes. Andrew: is a 47 year old recovering sexoholic, sober for 6 years. He joined the SA fellowship 11 years ago. He does his step work and has a sponsor and a few sponsees in SA. He has also worked the steps in CODA. He is clean from drugs for 23 years but has never joined a drug fellowship. Recently he started to do part-time work as an addiction therapist in a small clinic that specializes in sex addiction. In recovery he found God and God's guidance. Thanks to His grace he has been married for 2 years to his lovely wife Sara who he first met in SA. This last year in July, their baby girl was born and right now he is living the life he had never expected to be possible.Sara: is a 30 year old recovering sex addict, sober from lust thanks to God's grace for 4.5 years. She has worked the 12 step program with a sponsor and served as a sponsor to other female sex addicts in her fellowship. Since she is married to another recovering sex addict is a part of the S-Anon fellowship which helps her to address the patterns of codependency and heal from them as well. When she first joined the SA fellowship she was a broken woman. She felt like her life was over. She reached my lowest low and didn't expect there was any decent life possible after that. But God in His goodness made her recover rapidly and soon after, gave her a wonderful husband and best friend- Andrew. They have their highs and lows but mutual faith and the 12 steps principles keep them close and make their marriage flourish. PK and BK had a couple weeks of PK-only interviews but that did not mean life was not moving full steam ahead at home, which left PK in a weird state of happiness mixed right alongside some depression and anxiety. Two things most anyone breathing can relate to. Even if you rarely deal with these things there are for sure a few topics sprinkled inside that you might be able to relate to and who knows maybe even find a new way to help battle your anxiety or depression. PK and BK have been through a lot and they touch on a few topics in their relationship from the past that for sure doesn't help with anxiety but how they deal with it now and where they go is something very special to them both. PK specifically names two individuals who saved his life when he needed them the most, Dr. Jordan Peterson and Bishop Robert Barron. We also want to stress that this is our way of dealing with our battles with depression and anxiety but if you feel like you need to talk to a professional please reach out to your local or even national hotline that deals with depression and anxiety. After 42 years of actively acting out in sexual addiction Andrew S learned what he had been hearing in recovery groups that his life was really out of control and that the only way to get it back was through connection with his higher power. This connection began after he was excommunicated from the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Andrew realized that he could not simple say "I got this" anymore. "there's a couch in the hallway" became his new catch phrase when he needed to be reminded that it is God that sets things right and not himself. This connection has helped him achieve and maintain sobriety for the past 3 years. The phrase, "there's a couch in the hallway" will definitely take on a new meaning for you as you listen to and apply the lessons from this episode into your life. So hopefully I'll be back on track with posting mp3's weekly, not only for everyone out their, but also for my own sobriety. So this week we have David K, and I haven't listened to this in a long time but thought it worthy of a five star rating in iTunes a while back, so enjoy! As always this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org and you can feel free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com as I'm going to start actually checking it again :).
Welcome to week 46! I apologize for the later and later postings each week, my school schedule is ramping up as I finish my degree, thus I will attempt to keep up by the releases may be every week and half at times. However, for this week we have Sandy B. speaking on steps 1-4, and really focusing on steps 1,2 and 3 as the key for step 4 but also reminding us that we truly need to live out these other steps in order to have the serenity and sobriety promised to us by the steps. So I hope you enjoy this as much as I have! As always this mp3 comes from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out! And feel free to email comments, questions or concerns to 12steppodcast@gmail.com and I am going over to check the account right now! :)
Welcome to week 45! This week David C. speaks about his experience of the 12 Step program and gives some valuable insights as to what working the program has meant to him and some challenging thoughts as to what each of our programs should be. He is British which adds some diversity to the past few episodes and also gives both a different perspective of the 12 Step program and at the same time, the same one that many of us hold. So I hope you enjoy it as well as I have! As always this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org and you can feel free to email me with questions, comments or concerns at 12steppodcast@gmail.com!
Welcome to week 44! I apologize for the tardiness of the release this week, but my internet decided to not play nice so I spent two days trying to fix it. This week we have Gary B. speaking on his experience with the 12 step program and while this mp3 is short, it has some really good stories that we can both learn from and help us to recognize that above all it is God that leads us in our program. For we must recognize this to be able to walk in better sobriety each day. So I hope you enjoy! As always feel free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com and this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 43! This week we have Tom I talking about his experience of trusting God, what that has meant to his life and how it has changed it. This mp3 gives both great information about how we interact and learn from God but also can remind us that following God is what our program is all about. So I hope you all enjoy! As always, this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org and you can feel free to contact me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com with any quesitons, comments or concerns!
Welcome to week 42! Thanks to all who emailed me about my grandfathers death, it is good to know the support of a fellowship, both at my home group and also even with those I have never met before. So I would encourage you all to continue to spread support among one another and those you interact with in your own home groups. On that general topic of support, this weeks mp3 is on Sponsorship. I realized I have never posted anything on the topic and thought it to be important as I forget that not everyone thinks that's an important thing to do. But as Dave P and Polly P talk about, sponsorship is essential to our sobriety and our continued sobriety. So whether you don't have a sponsor, are being sponsored or are a sponsor yourself, you will be able to take something good away from this mp3. As always feels free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com and this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 40! I apologize for this week being late but my wife had some car trouble and by the time I finished dealing with that I forgot about posting last night. But this week we have some new material from a new site! Lenn B speaks to us about his story, what brought him into the 12 step program and what experience of the program has been. So I hope you enjoy it as much as I have! This week's mp3 comes from www.recoveryspeaker.com so check them out! As always feel free to email me 12steppodcast@gmail.com with any comments, questions or suggestions!
Welcome to week 39! This week we have Johnnie H. finishing off our trip through the 12 steps by talking about what it means to live out the last three steps, how everything we have done has lead us up to these steps and how God is the one who carries us on even after we have went through the steps for the first time. So I hope you all enjoy it! Next week, if I remeber to do it right, we will be hearing from some of the other sites some of you have suggested and have some mp3's that are more generally on 12 step materials so be looking for that! As always, feel free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com with quesitons, comments or anything else and I'll do my best to respond! Also, this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 38! This week we have Peter M. speaking about the last three steps of the twelve step program of recovery. He tells us how essential it is for us to work the last steps, to stay current in our inventories and to continue to pursue a way of living which is connected to our God. But perhaps most important of all he reminds us of how essential it is to walk and work this program with others, to support one another and has a great story right at the end of this podcast which is a perfect metaphor of how we can each support one another. I hope you enjoy this as much as I have! As always feel free to email me quesitons, comments or concerns at 12steppodcast@gmail.com and this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out! Last too, I will hopefully be having some 12 step materials from a different site in the next 2-3 weeks, but we will see where God leads us on that!
Welcome to week 37! This week we have John A speaking on the 8th, 9th and 10th steps, talkign abotu how we truly need to work our program and even reminding us how insane thinking is something we struggle with both when we are new in the program or even if we've been around for a while. But best of all he reminds us to keep current with ourlife and to think abotu how we can live the steps each day as we walk in sobriety! As always, you can email me with any quesitons, comments or concerns at 12steppodcast@gmail.com and this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 36! Sorry for this week being a day late, but I'm still figuring out new life being married and that has been making a new routine hard to find. This week we have Dennis R. talking at a Carry this Message time about the 6th through 9th steps. He speaks about his own imperfection and struggles which I think can help us to identify what we need to walk through so that we can walk in sobriety one day at a time. He isn't shy about identifying his own weakness which helped me to understand better my own. But best of all he says something I think we maybe have heard before but all need to hear again, "You can't think your way into right living, you have to live your way into right thinking." So I hope this helps all of you as much as it's helped me! As always feel free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com and I hopefully will get to some of the websites that have been recommend to me soon! Also this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 35! This week we have Mark H. and Dave F. talking about steps five through ten. They both talk about them from the spiritual side but they also discuss what some of the pracitical implicaitons of these steps are for our lives. So I hope you all enjoy them as much as I have! As always, this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out and also feel free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com!
Welcome to week 34! Sorry for no posts the last couple of weeks, but in the state I reside, there was a power outage along with the fact that I got married a little over a week ago, so I've been a bit busy and life just took over for a couple of weeks. But since there aren't any more life changing events hopefully happening in the next few weeks, and the power will stay on, we should be back on track. I am only posting a short reflection tonight by Joe and Charlie on the 5th Step, but I hope either tomorrow or the next day to post at least one more mp3 to catch up on material and to get some for those of you who may have been wanting more :). So I hope you enjoy this short audio from Joe and Charlie! As always you can feel free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com and this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 33! This week we have Dennis R speaking about steps three, four and five and talking to us both about his own willingness to do whatever it takes and what we in our own programs may have to think about in our own willingness. It is a good reminder that at all times we need to be willing and allow God to work through us instead of trying either to take God's place, or if we've been in the program for a while, take back God's place. So I hope you will enjoy it as much as I have! As always, if you have any questions, comments or suggestions feel free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com! And this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 32! This week we have Mart H. and Dave H. talking about steps 2 and 3, what it means for us to really surrender to God and to live out the second and third steps not only in the area of our addiction but in all of our lives. For it takes living this out to get sobriety and maintain sobriety. So I hope you all enjoy this as much as I have! As always, you can email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com with any comments, questions or suggestions! Also, this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 30! This week I tried to find some new material for steps 1, 2 and 3 but failed in doing so, and since mp3's take a while to listen through I decided to go back to some more of what Joe and Charlie say about the beginning of the 12 step program. I think their insights are so critical to understanding what this program of action is, and as the title says, how it works. So if you haven't heard this mp3 before you are in for a treat, and if you have may it help you as much as me to grow in our sobriety! As always, if you have any comments, questions, concerns or anything you would like to see in the podcast, email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com! Also, this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org, so check them out!
Welcome to week 28! This week we have Hector walking us through the first three steps, giving us some background on the Big Book and walking us through what it means to really work the first three steps. It seems to be a good time to start going through the whole 12 step program again, so over the next few weeks I will be posting different mp3's which help us as we walk through the 12 steps. Once again, thanks for your emails and I'm glad that there are many of us who are encouraged by this podcast, for it helps me keep sober too :). As always this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org and if you want to contact me with comments, questions or concerns you can email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com!
Welcome to week 27! This week we have Chris R. and Peter M. reminding us of the primary purpose of A.A. Why we do what we do, and why we are addicts. He tells us to think about what our primary purpose is, why either we may be struggling with sobriety or those around us are struggling with sobriety. We need to work the program for what it is instead of looking for other answers. While it's not easy to hear, I think it's essential for our sobriety to both learn and remember that we need to work our program and we need God to truly work our program. As always this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org and if you have any comments, questions, concerns you can email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com!
Welcome to week 26! Funily enough, today when I a posting this there is 260 subscribers who checked the podcast yesterday, which would mean there has been around 10 people a week who have found out about this podcast for the past 26 weeks! However the message has spread even farther then that as there are over 500 downloads each week of this podcast! So thanks so much after half a year for all of the support, as you help me to stay in 12 step material and to keep carrying the message to others. Also, I had been asked this last week if I am planning on stopping the podcast at any point, and the answer is I plan to continue this for as long as God is not leading me to something else, and I don't see that happening anytime in the future :). This weeks mp3 is speaker Keith L. who talks about relationships and addicts. Keith talks about how our we as addicts tend to view our relationships with others and how we have treated others and continue to treat them. It's a great listen for anyone at any point they find themselves in their sobriety! As always, feel free to email me at 12steppodcast@gmail.com, and this mp3 came from www.xa-speakers.org so check them out!
Welcome to week 25! I hope that the podcast is okay for everyone as this last week I had one day where the stats were waaaay down on subscribers, so I wanted to say if there are issues with the podcast, let me know at 12steppodcast@gmail.com. And I have to apologize for being a bit late on posting the podcasts lately, as I've been keeping very busy so I haven't always got to posting until the evening. So now that I've rationalized away my responsibility ;) thanks for listening this week, and I hope you'll enjoy Chuck C. talking about the 12 Steps. He walks through the different steps, reminding us that the program isn't complicated, it just needs to be worked. Instead of making excuses or trying to make things complicated, we need to simply see the steps for what they are, and follow them as a plan of action instead of a plan of intentions. I hope you enjoy this weeks audio!
