January 2026 will be remembered as a shock month for precious metals, delivering silver's best performance in decades and volatility that caught even veteran market watchers off guard. Silver price started the year near $70 on January 1 and surged to an all-time nominal high of $121 on January 29—then everything changed. (The Center Square) – Illinois families will see some relief at the Thanksgiving table this year, with the average cost of a classic holiday meal dropping to $49.20, continuing a three-year decline and mirroring the national average of $55.18, a 5% drop from 2024. Drugmaker Novo Nordisk says it will make the popular weight GLP-1 weight loss medication Wegovy more affordable for those without insurance coverage, dropping the price to $349 a month.
