The League is back on Earth, but they encounter some things they could not expect!  Talking Gorillas, mind control, and a hidden city in Africa are just some of the surprises.  Gorilla City is protected by a force field that makes it look like a mountain. The city is populated with evolved Gorillas with advanced technology.  One of their own, Grodd, has made a play for power but was thwarted, and so he escapes to the U.S. With the help of scientist Dr. Sasha Corwin, he is using mind control to build the Gorilla City shield in Central City.  The Flash and Green Lantern are drawn in to the situation, but a "run before you know the details" Flash gets caught unaware, and falls under mind controll. Fortunately, Solovar, a good Gorilla from Gorilla City, has come to stop Grodd and the three of them team up in the pursuit. Grodd gets the jump on them though, and is able to turn on his force field causing Central City to disappear! Batman and the rest of the league find Gorilla city and try to find out what is going on but are captured. Grodd fires nuclear missiles at the city and turns off their shield. Green Lantern and the rest of the League stop the missiles just in time. Flash uses his super speed to rewire Grodd's mind control helmet to fry his brain. While looking for his parent’s graves, Flash finds Pied Piper in the middle of a jewelry store robbery and sees that he now has sonic abilities. Kamilla and Chester are helping out on the comms because Ralph is pursuing Sue, Iris is working on a case, and Caitlin is at A.R.G.U.S. checking up on Bloodwork. After Pied Piper gets away, Barry is left wondering what else happened following the Crisis. While working to update Gideon, Barry is visited by Chester who tries to help improve the portable AI device. However Chester makes a mistake, and when Barry attempts to use Gideon, he is transported into Grodd's mind who is still in a coma at ARGUS. Grodd states that there is a gatekeeper that's keeping both him and Barry from exiting the Grodd’s mindscape. Flash investigates and discovers that the Gatekeeper is a mental copy of Solovar. As Mirror-Iris continues to look for information on Carver, Eva and Iris attempt to use the same device Eva had finished the night of the Particle Accelerator explosion to escape the mirror universe, but her her arms are burned when she tried to get through. Meanwhile, Allegra learns that she has a doppleganger that used to work for Nash. After some persuasion from Caitlin, Chester works to help get Barry out of Grodd’s Mindscape as Flash and Grodd work together to beat Solovar. Once they escape the Mindscape and successfully separate, Caitlin arranges for Grodd to be released on probation. Back in the Mirror Dimension, as Iris leaves to get bandages, Eva contacts Mirror-Iris who is actually working for her and briefly got the same injuries, which Eva heals. As Nash is going to confront Allegra, he sees another vision involving Sherloque Wells who says "He is coming."

Barry recalls that in the future Central City will be attacked by gorillas. He, Julian, Cisco, and Caitlin go to rescue him but are captured by Grodd. Speaking through Wells, Grodd asks Barry to help him usurp his master Solovar. Barry agrees to fight Solovar in the arena for the lives of the others and wins, but refuses to kill him. Grodd seizes control of Gorilla City and prepares an invasion of Earth-1. The team asks Caitlin to kill Cisco so Grodd can't open a portal, but she refuses. Barry fakes his death and Grodd removes him from his cage. He resuscitates himself and frees the others, and they return to Earth-1. Jesse and her father reunite and Wally and Jesse recommit to their relationship. Julian asks Caitlin out on a date. Grodd assembles his army with a brainwashed Gypsy at his side.

SPOILERS/NSFW - DC on SCREEN #331 - The Flash 3x14 - Attack on Central City | Recap & ReviewThe attack on Central City is on.  Grodd’s army is knocking at the door,  and it’s causing trouble.  He has  sent Gypsy over already and she attacks the team. Harry puts her down and they put her in the vault.  Barry starts thinking he’s Oliver, and wondering if he should just kill Grodd once and for all, but Harry reminds him that he is an inspiration and there’s always another way.  Anyway, Grodd’s first plan is to deploy nukes, being that he can use a general as an avatar, but the Flash disarms the bombs with moments left.  That plan failing, Grodd descends upon the city, preparing to wreak havoc.  But Vibe and a reluctant Gypsy have retrieved Solovar from Earth 2 and promised to sequester Grodd if Solovar takes him out without lethal force.  Solovar succeeds and the Earth 2 Gorilla army marches back through Vibe and Gypsy portals to their home.  To finish up, Vibe realizes he wants to marry Gypsy, Harry bids farewell and asks Wally to treat Jesse well on Earth 1, and Barry finally asks Iris to marry him.  Also, Jesse asks Wally to pick up a Big Belly Burger,  and Wally instead finds himself a big helping of Savitar.

Better start preparing for an "Attack on Central City"! After Gypsy appears in STAR Labs and attacks the team, our heroes realize that Grodd has used her to bring his gorilla army to Central City. They have very little time to stop him and he seems to always have the advantage. First he takes control of a General to acquire some nuclear weapons. But when Flash stops that, he gathers forces to attack the city. So Cisco enlists the help of Gypsy to gather them an ally who may be the only one that can help them. Jesse informs her father that she intends to stay on Earth-1 with Wally, which Harry initially tries to prevent. Harry subdues Gypsy when she ambushes Cisco and Barry, and the team realizes that Grodd and his forces have reached Central City. Where were you during the "Attack on Gorilla City"? Jesse Quick waited on Earth-1 with Wally, as she dealt with her conflicted emotions concerning their relationship. But Flash, Cisco, Caitlin, and Julian traveled to Gorilla City on Earth-2 to rescue Harry Wells who has been captured by Grodd. Gorillas are wily and cunning (not to mention huge and strong) so the group gets captured quickly and Flash is forced to fight their leader Solovar in an arena battle. But even winning is not enough to ensure their release, so they make a run for it before they're forced to open a breach and bring a gorilla invasion to Central City. Variety reports Greg Berlanti's “Black Lightning” just received an official pilot order from the network. This indicates that Diamond expect a certain amount of returnability, but not that much. Well, it seems that DC Comics seems to have overdone it this time. They made the first six issues of all the DC Rebirth twice-monthly launch comics returnable, more than ever before. Ostensibly to allow retailers to find a ceiling limit on sales to customers, to not have to order conservatively, and to be confident in ordering big. Which has allowed certain titles that had slipped away in recent years, specifically Superman and Flash, to find an appreciative audience.However, there is a cost for that kind of thing. And while sales of DC Comics are also up, so is the returnability, at record high levels, and something DC and Diamond didn't anticipate. The Justice Society of America was conceived by editor Sheldon Mayer and writer Gardner Fox. The JSA first appeared in All Star Comics #3 (Winter 1940–1941). VIXEN - Probably the most recognizable member of the JSA's cast this time around was Vixen -- at least for fans of the CWverse. In addition to having her own animated series, Vixen -- an African-American woman who derives the power of animals from the Tantu Totem she wears around her neck -- had a memorable guest appearance on Arrow last season. Of course, that's all Mari. This woman? Mari's grandmother, Amaya Jiwe, who passed the totem down through their family. HOURMAN - Rex Tyler, also known as Hourman, is a Golden Age superhero and the first of a number of characters to use the Hourman name. Tyler has a number of superhuman abilities, like enhanced strength, reflexes, and healing -- but only for an hour at a time. His abilities are given to him by Miraclo, a drug he designed himself. There is an Hourman legacy including Rex's son Rick and an android from the 853rd Century programmed to act as a member of the Tyler family. The android, at a point in the past, presented Rex with an hourglass infused with tachyons -- time in its most basic form -- and that hourglass would become part of both his and Rick's costumes. Said hourglass has been seen on board the Waverider on previous episodes of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.. STARGIRL - Stargirl is Courtney Whitmore. In the TV series, she exists in 1942 -- but in the original comics, she was created (and existed) in 1999, and was part of a "next generation" of Justice Society members who came up in the late '90s and early 2000s. Courtney Whitmore was created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, and has a famous backstory: Johns named her after (and based her personality on) his sister Courtney, who died in the explosion of TWA Flight 800 in 1996. COMMANDER STEEL - Commander Steel is Hank Heywood, Sr., the first in a line of DC heroes to use variations on the Steel moniker. A legend in the World War II era and a member of the All-Star Squadron and later the Justice Society of America, Heywood's body had surgically-implanted mechanized steel devices that allowed his body to work on a superhuman level. Originally just "Steel," he was promoted to Commander Steel by President Roosevelt in 1940 -- so while this is his first appearance in live action, it's timeline-accurate to call him Commander Steel by this point in his career since the story takes place in 1942. DOCTOR MID-NITE - Doctor Mid-Nite is a name shared by a number of blind super-heroes and physicians with the ability to see in the darkness, using blackout bombs and martial arts to gain an advantage over criminals. Doctor Mid-Nite was created by Charles Reizenstein and Stan Aschmeier, first appearing in All-American Comics #25. OBSIDIAN - Obsidian is the son of Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott, a founding member of the JSA in the comics. He and his sister Jade would go on to play an important role in the Justice Society's sinoff groups the Young All-Stars and Infinity, Inc., as well as eventually joining the Justice Society itself. He was also briefly affiliated with the Justice League. LEAVENWORTH - The United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates in northeast Kansas. On Arrow, it was revealed that Leavenworth is where John Diggle is being held while awaiting his court martial. KRIEGER - There are basically two figures who could have inspired Baron Krieger, even though there is no specific Baron Krieger in DC Comics. The first is Baron Blitzkrieg: Originally a World War II German army officer, the man who would be Baron Blitzkrieg was blinded when a concentration camp prisoner threw acid into his face. German scientists experimented on him, giving him injections of experimental drugs which would give him incredible powers for brief periods of time. The other possibility is Albrecht Krieger, who was basically Captain America, but for Nazis. A genetically-modified super-soldier, Krieger also had a mad scientist brother and a psychic  sister we might have to worry about if it's him -- and while the backstory feels a lot more like Blitzkrieg's, Krieger has not only the name but the general look of this week's threat. MAX LORENZ - Max Lorenz was a famous singer, who lived in Germany around the time of World War II and is widely known as "Hitler's favorite tenor." Of course, it's a handy thing that Legends of Tomorrow star Victor Garber has the pipes to make that scene convincing. UBERMENSCH - It's worth noting that there are several references to "Übermensch" in here, which is derived from Nietzsche in Thus Spake Zarathustra, one of the influences for Superman, which is more or less what the word translates to directly. The term can literally translate to "Overman," which in the DC Comics universe is an alternate-universe version of Superman who lives on an Earth where the Nazis won World War II.REVERSE-FLASH - Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, may have something up his sleeve. At the end of The Flash's Season 3 premiere earlier this month, he said that while his future was as it should be, Barry's might not be. Barry then went home to discover a number of small anomalies that made his life and those of his friends worse. Now, we learn that "somebody" is outfitting the villains of history with future tech in order to push the world to a slightly worse place. Could Eobard Thawne have stepped right out of "Flashpoint" and into "Out of Time?" Either way, seeing him and Darhk together is enough to make seasoned Arrowverse fans quake in their boots even before they know the other members of Thawne's little Legion of Doom. Additionally, he explained that Felicity's new, darker direction can't be blamed solely on Billy Malone's death. Rather, her experiences over the course of the show will culminate in her new attitude. “Billy was the final straw,” he said. “It's also the sum of the fact that Felicity has been living in this darker world for the last four-plus years now…. While her motivations remain unknown, Arrow producer Greg Berlanti has teased the character's involvement in more than just the events of Arrow's fifth season. “We made a deal at the end of [season 4] to bring her back for a bunch of episodes. Katie is a part of the fabric of the show. Because the show, like a comic book, can move in different ways, and characters go and come, everybody that's ever been a part of the key and core ensemble has always had a place at the table for our show. There's the capacity for her to be [in all four shows]. But Rip won't return the same as we previously knew him. Kara takes Mon-El (Chris Wood) with her to the last place Izzy was seen and the duo find themselves thrust through a portal to another planet, Slaver's Moon, where the downtrodden are sold as slaves. The leader of the trafficking ring is none other than Roulette (guest star Dichen Lachman). To make matters worse, Slaver's Moon has a red sun, which means Kara and Mon-El are stripped of their powers and stuck on the planet with no way home. Meanwhile, back on Earth, Alex (Chyler Leigh) blames herself for Kara's disappearance, fearing she's become too focused on her new relationship with Maggie (guest star Floriana Lima) and too complacent in watching out for her sister. What's more, the musical crossover will feature original songs and could include characters from any Earth or timeline in the “Arrow”-verse. The series will also introduce a new telepathic gorilla straight from the comics, Solovar. Keith David will provide the voice of Solovar in the Gorilla Grodd-centric two-parter. David is a film and television veteran with a career spanning decades. Executive producer Andrew Kreisberg announced the return of Grodd and Gorilla City during a presentation at the TCAs. Kreisberg also revealed that the two-parter will span multiple Earths. “One of the episodes will take place in Gorilla City [on Earth-2], and one of them will take place on Earth-1.” In the comics, Solovar — a psychic gorilla like Grodd — is the leader of Gorilla City. Under his rule, Gorilla City became a technological wonder. Solovar's involvement in “The Flash's” Grodd/Gorilla City two-parter makes sense considering that Solovar is Grodd's main rival (other than the Scarlet Speedster) in the comics.
