JJ and Angus talk Wonder Woman War Of The Gods, legendary comics author George Pérez's epic Wonder Woman saga! Wonder Woman: War of the Gods https://www.amazon.com/Wonder-Woman-War-Gods-1987-2006-ebook/dp/B01BLZX1P8/ On Wonder Woman's island home of Themyscira, angry voices are rising. Following a massacre in man's world, Queen Hippolyta is presumed dead, and the Amazons' thirst for revenge is strong. But even as her people teeter on the brink of war, Princess Diana is forcibly summoned to Olympus, where Zeus and the Greek gods are being attacked by their Roman counterparts-in defiance of all heavenly order. The realms of the gods are being turned upside down and inside out, and if left unchecked the chaos will quickly engulf the earth. Beneath it all lies a tangled web of magic and deceit that ensnares everyone from Superman and Captain Marvel to Lobo and the Suicide Squad. But even as the world's greatest heroes unite to stop the warring pantheons, mortals and immortals alike remain pawns in a single mastermind's twisted game. The evil sorceress Circe will stop at nothing to have her revenge on Wonder Woman-even if it means destroying the universe itself! Collects WAR OF THE GODS #1-4 and WONDER WOMAN #58-62. There's been a lot of back and forth as to what exactly fans can look forward to seeing in the infamous forthcoming Zack Snyder's Justice League miniseries, but Harry Lennix has cleared up one detail to Collider with the revelation he will indeed appear as the extraterrestrial superhero Martian Manhunter. Lennix confirmed that when he was first cast in the debut DC Extended Universe project, Man of Steel, as General Swanwick, he did not know he would continue the role past one film, let alone the character's real identity and that though he learned of the real plans with Justice League, he still didn't get a chance to read the script as "they were still being developed and they keep all of that under lock and key." Given his schedule conflicts with his role on NBC's The Blacklist, he never properly filmed his scenes as Manhunter, but once Warner Bros. greenlit the extra shooting for the new miniseries cut of the project, Lennix confirmed he has shot the necessary footage for the role. Zack Snyder's Justice League will reportedly cost around $70 million in order to properly finish the editing and visual effects of the director's original vision, as well as the additional photography. The original post-production crew is also expected to return along with the cast members to record additional dialogue for the cut. Fueled by the hero's restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Justice League sees Bruce Wayne enlist the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg, and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions. Justice League, which features a screenplay from Chris Terrio from a story by Snyder and Terrio, stars Ben Affleck as Batman, Henry Cavill as Superman, Gal Gadot as Wonder Woman, Jason Momoa as Aquaman, Ezra Miller as The Flash, Ray Fisher as Cyborg, Willem Dafoe as Nuidis Vulko, Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred Pennyworth, Diane Lane as Martha Kent, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, with J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon, and Amy Adams as Lois Lane. Released in November 2017, the film earned mixed reviews from critics and audiences alike, praising the action and performances from Gadot and Miller while criticizing every other aspect of the film, namely the inconsistent tone that many fault Joss Whedon (The Avengers) for after taking over directorial duties from Snyder. With a large budget of $300 million and a break-even point of $750 million, the film is considered a box office bomb having grossed only $658 million.

In honor of the sequel having just been released, we’re going back to the distant year of 2017 to break down who almost starred in Wonder Woman! Which Grammy-winning pop star was considered for Diana? Which Oscar-winner was offended when they offered her the ‘mom role’ of Queen Hippolyta? What would the Julie Taymor-directed Wonder Woman have looked like? And does this film feature the first instance of a ‘reverse She’s All That’? Also – whose idea was it to slap a lopsided mustache on the God of War?? Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot, Chris Pine, Connie Nielsen, Robin Wright, Danny Huston, Elena Anaya, Saïd Taghmaoui, Ewen Bremner, Eugene Brave Rock, Lucy Davis, and David Thewlis; directed by Patty Jenkins Follow the Podcast:On Instagram: @andalmoststarring On Facebook: @andalmoststarringHave a film you’d love for us to cover? Issue 26: This issue focuses on Themyscirian Amazon, Philippus CBN Season 2 | Issue 26 | Philippus Philippus is a high ranking Amazon general on Paradise Island and a long time ally of Wonder Woman and her mother, Queen Hippolyta. She was the Captain of the Guard for many years until the abolishment of the monarchy, when she was elected Chancellor and Archon Eponymous, in charge of day-to-day rule, with Artemis as polemarch in charge of military matters. As Captain of the Royal Guard, Philippus was also queen Hippolyta's highest general, and most trusted advisor. She spoke for the Amazons when the queen could not, and ruled in her stead during a short self-imposed exile. During Hippolyta's second exile, she named Philippus Chancellor and Archon Eponymous, and Artemis polemarch. The two served as co-leaders of the island and its population. I can also tease he won't be going back alone.” Link:http://ew.com/tv/2017/02/24/spoiler-room-arrow-shield-blacklist/ Arrow's Stephen Amell addresses idea of Dinah-Oliver romance (Date: 28 Feb 2017) After the shocking death of Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy), some fans of the comics were disheartened by the fact that Oliver (Stephen Amell) would not end up with the Black Canary — in the comics, Oliver married Dinah Laurel Lance, the character portrayed by Cassidy on Arrow. That all changed when Juliana Harkavy was added to the cast as Dinah Drake, otherwise known in the comics as the first Black Canary. However, that doesn't necessarily mean there will be a Green Arrow-Black Canary romance, especially considering the show has never been beholden to the comics. “The idea that Oliver would end up with the Black Canary being Katie Cassidy or any new iteration thereof? To me, it could happen, it could not, but it's certainly not destined to happen or predesigned to happen,” Amell tells EW. Teri Hatcher has already been confirmed to debut later this season in an as-yet unspecified villain role.It doesn't take much to connect those dots, and arise at the natural question: Will “Supergirl” feature an on-screen reunion between Cain and Hatcher, who starred in “Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman” from 1993 to 1997? “We'd love to,” “Supergirl” executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said of a Cain/Hatcher scene on “Supergirl.” “There's a plan — if we can execute the plan.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/supergirl-dean-cain-teri-hatcher-lois-and-clark-reunion/ EP HOPES FOR ‘TRUE FOUR-WAY' ARROWVERSE CROSSOVER (Date: 24 Feb 2017) For the next full-scale Arrowverse crossover — which is tradition holds, will likely be in the fall — the creative forces behind the show are hoping to fully involve all four series, according to Andrew Kreisberg, an executive producer on each one of the shows. With the early renewals, Kreisberg explained, the shows can take advantage of pre-planned off-days in production to accommodate the cast members who are appearing on multiple shows in a short time, something that was particularly difficult last year with “Supergirl,” since series lead Melissa Benoist appeared in both a normal episode of her show, and then as a guest on “The Flash,” ‘Arrow' and ‘Legends.' ‘Supergirl' was the show we needed to shut down the most, and it was the one we didn't have any opportunity to,” Kreisberg said. “So now that we've gotten the early pick up and we've started designing the seasons, we're building in those dark days — and actually more dark days on ‘Supergirl' than the other shows — to make it a little easier.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/andrew-kreisberg-hopes-four-way-arrowverse-crossover-supergirl-flash-arrow-legends/ ‘Black Lightning' Finds Its Lead: Cress Williams Cast As Jefferson In the CW Pilot (Date: 24 Feb 2017) Hart of Dixie alum Cress Williams is back at the CW as the title character in Black Lightning, the network's DC drama pilot from Greg Berlanti, king of the CW's DC universe, and the Being Mary Jane duo of Mara Brock Akil and Salim Akil. Link:http://deadline.com/2017/02/black-lightning-cress-williams-cast-jefferson-cw-pilot-1201971415/ ‘Black Lightning': Nafessa Williams & China Anne McClain To Star As Jefferson's Daughters In the CW Pilot (Date: 02 March 2017) Nafessa Williams (Code Black) and China Anne McClain (House of Payne) have landed leads opposite Cress Williams in Black Lightning, the CW's DC drama pilot.McCain plays Jefferson's younger daughter, the teenage Jennifer Piere, an independent, outspoken scholar-athlete with a wild streak of her own. Williams is Anissa Pierce — passionate and quick-witted, Jefferson's twenty-something daughter balances the demands of medical school with her job teaching part-time at her father's school. In the DC comics, Anissa and Jennifer follow in their father's footsteps and become superheroes, taking on the names of Thunder and Lightning, respectively. That's something of interesting flaw in continuity, so will it be something that Supergirl will address? According to executive producer Andrew Kriesberg: it won't be. According to Kriesberg, “the problem with that is if we do that once, we're going to open the floodgates of insanity." According to Kriesberg, it would take “a really good story” for Supergirl to get alternate versions of Barry or Oliver on the show; or conversly, an alternate version of Kara on Earth 1. In short: it would have to be an event. The story really centers around Iris,” said Helbing. “Aside from Barry and Kara, Iris plays a huge role in the musical.” The episode will also feature songs from “Crazy Ex-Girlfriend's” Rachel Bloom and the “La La Land” songwriting duo of Benj Pasek and Justin Paul. Link:http://www.cbr.com/iris-west-flash-supergirl-musical-episode/ Supergirl taps iZombie star as potential DC villain (Date: 01 March 2017) Rahul Kohli, who plays medical examiner Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti on The CW zombie series, will play Jack Spheer, a charismatic tech genius who has spent decades working on a medical innovation that will eradicate major illnesses and change the face of the world – if it works. In the comics, Spheer's invention mutated him into the villain known as Biomax, who had the power of mind control. It's unclear whether his character on the show will follow the same path. Kohli will appear in episode 18, titled “Ace Reporter,” which executive producer Andrew Kreisberg recently revealed will heavily feature Kara's journalism side. Link:http://ew.com/tv/2017/03/01/supergirl-rahul-kohli-izombie/ ARROW CAST & CREW NEWS ARROW'S LEXA DOIG EXPLAINS WHAT MAKES TALIA AL GHUL A TRUE BADASS (Date: 01 March 2017) A lethal assassin in her own right, in DC Comics' lore, Talia has been an ally, a lover and an enemy to Batman. As there is no Batman in the Arrowvrse, this Talia instead finds herself involved with Green arrow. This season, it's been revealed that she was the one who rescued Oliver from Ishmael Gregor and then proceeded to push him into fulfilling his destiny. Talia has trained Oliver, but she's also an al Ghul. Can she be trusted? Does the apple fall far from the psychotic family tree? Doig recently spoke with CBR about making Talia a badass, mentoring Oliver, her possible connections to Prometheus and the inevitable showdown with Nyssa. Link:http://www.cbr.com/interview-arrow-lexa-doig-talia-al-ghul/ ARROW'S PROMETHEUS SPEAKS OUT ABOUT HIS STUNNING IDENTITY REVEAL (Date: 01 March 2017) Speaking to CBR and other reporters, Segarra opened up about his role as Prometheus and how he balanced Adrian Chase's two very different identities. He also shared some stories about how and when he learned about the big twist, as well as why he studied up on Vigilante before arriving in Vancouver to start filming Season 5. “I'm telling them, ‘Oh, I'm playing this guy… I don't really know too much about him, but who knows? It'll be fun, right?' And then they announced Adrian Chase: Vigilante. And I'm like, ‘Oh my gosh, I'm playing Vigilante!' So now, I get to Vancouver, I think I'm playing this guy Vigilante. That's who everybody thought, right? So I start reading ‘Vigilante' comics and reading about Chase and reading about the history of these guys. Then I get to work and I'm talking to Marc. I'm like, ‘Marc, man, I'm really doing my research. I'm really being studious about this Vigilante guy.' And he's like, ‘What do you mean?' And I'm like, ‘Oh, dude, you announced it finally! I'm going to be a great Adrian Chase: Vigilante!' And he says, ‘That's not who you're playing.' ‘What?!' He's like, ‘Yeah, you're playing this guy.' And that's when they took me out on the city and they told me everything. So, to put it this way, me and my wife and my doggie, we moved over to Vancouver thinking one thing and it was revealed once I got here who I was actually playing. That whole journey began at that moment. I feel I'll always look back and laugh at this.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-prometheus-josh-segarra-adrian-chase-fighting-fire-with-fire-susan-williams-oliver-queen-artemis-interview/ ARROW EP WENDY MERICLE ADDRESSES PROMETHEUS' IDENTITY & MOTIVATIONS (Date: 01 March 2017) In the wake of this stunning reveal, executive producer Wendy Mericle spoke to CBR and other reporters about what's in store for Team Arrow now that Prometheus' identity is out in the open. She addressed why she and the other showrunners made Chase Prometheus instead of Vigilante, why those chose now to make this reveal, what drives Chase to torture Oliver Queen and more. Why make Chase Prometheus instead of Vigilante? “I think one of the reasons we did that was because everyone would be thinking, “Of course he's Vigilante!” Adrian Chase is Vigilante in the comic books, as you pointed out, and we thought it would be a really fun sort of twist to do what we've always done on the show, which is to take the comic book mythology and turn it on its head and see what kind of story we could mine from a surprise like that. It was also just something different for this season. We wanted to change up how we introduced the big bad and change up when we did it and how we did it. Hopefully, we succeeded in that this year.” She also said that Prometheus is going to mess with Lance as well. Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-wendy-mericle-promtheus-reveal-adrian-chase-josh-segarra-susan-williams-interview/ GREEN ARROW COMICS & TOY NEWS FUNKO UNVEILS WONDER WOMAN MOVIE TOY LINE (Date: 17 Feb 2017) While the average Funko comic character is brightly colored, this version of Wonder Woman is tinted sepia; with the Pop! and Rock Candy figures, you feel as if you're looking at her through a photo filter. That certainly appears to match the aesthetic of director Patty Jenkins' film. Also notable is Diana's weapons of choice: Although her famed Lasso of Truth is slung on her belt, she wields a sword and shield, emphasizing her role as a warrior. In addition to the Amazon Princess, there will also be Pop! figures of Steve Trevor and Queen Hippolyta. Bertinelli mentioned again - this better pay off ARROW NEWS: Arrow Episode 18 Gets A Title And Starts Production (Date: 18 Feb 2017) Executive producer Marc Guggenheim shared the cover page of the episode 18 script on Twitter, stating that it has started production. “Disbanded” is written by Rebecca Bellotto and directed by J.J. Makaro. The team has been in flux all season, with Diggle being out for certain periods of time, Artemis betraying the team, and the loss of Ragman. Curtis and Wild Dog have managed to stick around, though, and the team seems poised to finally get a new Black Canary full time. It would be unfortunate for Olliver's ragtag group to dissolve so quickly, but that definitely might be the case. The post raves about Daxamite technology, so it looks like Smith's episode will be resolving the ongoing mystery of Mon-El and the aliens who would see him captured. The other post has Smith teaming up with none other than Wonder Woman herself, Lynda Carter! This season has seen Carter taking up none other than the mantle of President of the United States, and the seal on the wall behind the two of them confirms that she is returning to reprise the role. Tolkien. Executive producer Marc Guggenheim shared a cast list for the season finale episode, titled “Aruba,” on Twitter. The cast list includes all the usual suspects, like the “Legends” team and the members of the Legion of Doom. It also includes a surprise guest star: J.R.R. Tolkien, played by Jack Turner (Freeform's “Stitchers”). Since we haven't seen a synopsis for “Aruba” just yet, we don't actually know if this is the J.R.R. Tolkien or just another person with that incredibly specific and unique name. The cast list also includes a few other surprise names. Wentworth Miller and Katie Cassidy will reprise their roles as Leonard Snart and Laurel Lance, respectively. Poague's Accelerated Man will debut on February 28 in the episode “Attack on Central City.” A new photo from the episode reveals the comic-accurate look of Poague's Accelerated Man, who is a Speed Force Conduit and Earth-19's version of the Flash. In the comics, Earth-19 is ruled by the 21st Century's King George and has only just begun enjoying “electric technology.” As a Speed Force conduit in this strange dimension, Accelerated Man enjoys a massively increased heal rate, increased perception, the ability to phase through solid objects and, of course, super speed — basically, he's the Flash. (Don't worry, Arrow has already been renewed for season 6.) EW hit the set of the Vancouver-based series to get Amell's take on Oliver's current predicaments as the show builds toward its big season 5 finale. ARROW NEWS: Spoiler Room: Scoop on The Flash, Once Upon a Time, Supergirl, and more (Date: 10 Feb 2017) Will Oliver find out what's really going on with Felicity on Arrow soon? — Not for several episodes, but you may be surprised by his reaction. “He knows that she's into something, and he knows that she doesn't want to tell him about it, so he's dealing with that in his own way,” Stephen Amell tells me. “For Felicity, it's not something that she and Oliver discuss until they have what is actually an adult conversation about it in [a future episode].” Did you get any Flash scoop on Killer Frost? — When asked how Cisco would try to help Caitlin quell her Killer Frost tendencies, Carlos Valdes dropped a truth bomb: “Caitlin has some secrets of her own that are going to come to light and are going to change not just the dynamic of the team, but also her own feelings about her dynamic within the team,” he says. “It all comes to a head.” Make of that what you will. So why is Vigilante trying to kill Mayor Oliver Queen? Fans will find out on March 1, when the DC antihero returns to menace city hall. Synopsis: Oliver (Stephen Amell) faces his biggest challenge yet as mayor. Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) continues down her dark path with Helix. "I'm old, so what does this mean? It means that I grew up on St. Elsewhere and Picket Fences and LA Law. I grew up in a time where it was commonplace, like literally every week, for a one-hour drama to tackle the issues of the day. Somewhere along the line we got away from that -- like, the whole industry got away from that. And now you've got like Blackish and Carmichael Show, but as far as network dramas are concerned? Really not tackling current events, current issues. So we went into season 5 with the desire to. It's the fifth season; we've hopefully earned the freedom to, in 23 episodes of television, you can have 22 episodes of candy and one episode of vegetables. We sort of felt that gun violence felt like the right topic, because of its topicality but also because of the level of gun violence that's on Arrow. We could have done an episode on abortion, but that's not really where the show lives, so gun violence sort of felt like the right thing to tackle." We've had to write around that.” Contractual matters also may prove a hurdle in bringing Katie Cassidy back for another encore as one Laurel or another, even though Cassidy (as reported over the summer) entered the season with one of those #DCTV-wide deals that theoretically would allow her to pop up on Arrow or any of its many offspring. “We have an idea for how to see [Katie] again, but we haven't made a deal with her,” Guggenheim shared. “She's not a series regular anymore, so we have to make a contract with her, and she's got to be available. We haven't had those conversations. But… we know exactly what we do want to do. Here's What David Ramsey Says (Date: 13 Feb 2017) David Ramsey recently spoke with CinemaBlend about all things John Diggle, and he told me this about Digg's future with the Suicide Squad on Arrow: “I can say that we have all the elements. Part of what John Diggle brings to the team is his relationship with ARGUS through his wife Lyla. We're waiting to see how that plays itself out. Diggle was freed last week, and Oliver said to him 'You can go home and hug your wife and son.' So that's a real viable part of Diggle that we have always seen on camera, but it would be nice to see more because he's married to the leader of the Suicide Squad. What does that play out? How does that look? What are those conversations like? We have all the elements of it... I think we have the makings of it. ARGUS is a real viable part of our whole universe, of Legends, Flash, and Arrow. And Diggle just so happens to be married to the leader of ARGUS, so it's right there ready for the picking.” Link:http://www.cinemablend.com/television/1624570/will-arrow-bring-back-suicide-squad-characters-heres-what-david-ramsey-says Arrow EPs Tease Thea's Role Going Forward in Season 5 (Date: 15 Feb 2017) "She's headed in a direction that's very similar to where her mother was before she was killed in Season 2. We're excited about it." revealed Wendy Mericle. "I'm actually really excited about her storyline because we're taking her to a place where she's been dealing with all of these issues the same way Oliver has, with her bloodlust and with her other elements of her past. And this season's going to find her in a similar place but for very different reasons. There's gonna be a great scene coming up between Oliver and Thea that's one of my favorites on the show." Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/16/arrow-thea-queen-willa-holland-season-five/ Arrow EP Teases Prometheus's Next Move (Date: 15 Feb 2017) According to one of the show's executive producers, however, that is all about to change with next week's episode, entitled 'The Sin-Eater'. Marc Guggenheim recently revealed that not only will the villain appear in the February 22nd episode, but his past actions will start to connect. Guggenheim wants fans to keep an eye out for the conclusion of the episode, as it will particularly reveal parts of the villain's motive. "The episode ends, I think, with sort of the next key move in Prometheus' grand plan." Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/16/arrow-marc-guggenheim-prometheus/ Arrow EP: Oliver Will Make Star City Better -- As Mayor (Date: 15 Feb 2017) "One of the things we went into season five with the mindset of is Oliver's mayor, so without it turning into The West Wing, how are we going to find ways to have Oliver be active as mayor, and to everyone's surprise, be a good mayor, end up being a good mayor," explained executive producer Marc Guggenheim during a screening of tonight's episode, "Spectre of the Gun." "And you'll start to see, actually – and this is true in next week's episode, in episode 14 – Thea's going to make a good case to Oliver, of all people, for all the things he's accomplished as mayor, and you start to see like, oh wait, in the first 13 episodes, he actually kind of did some stuff. And he's not done yet. Obviously, the season's not done yet. But we definitely went into the season with the goal of showing that Oliver is actually much better at this job than you might expect." Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/15/arrow-ep-oliver-will-make-star-city-better--as-mayor/ Arrow: Marc Guggenheim On What Makes Oliver Different From his Villains (Date: 15 Feb 2017) This season on Arrow, Ollie has been even more affected by that conundrum. He constantly finds himself toe-ing the line between what's right and wrong. According to Marc Guggenheim, Oliver is going to continue that struggle throughout this season. Not only will the rest of this season see Oliver explore that struggle, but the show will also explore what that means for Arrow's entire world. "One of the things we are doing in the back half of Season 5 is really getting underneath that and what that means, not just in terms of morality but in terms of psychology -- specifically Oliver's psychology. There's things about Oliver's killing that you have yet to learn." However, The CW series is taking a slow burn approach to that, but she finally gets a mask in these new images. Snapped on the streets of New Westminster, a city just southeast of Vancouver, the images reveal rows of 1940s-era automobiles, as well as actors Jesse L. Martin, Victor Garber and John Barrowman in period attire. According to Hollywood North.Buzz, the scenes were to involve car chases with gangsters, but no singing. (Date: 16 Feb 2017) The CW has now released a new batch of photos from "Attack on Gorilla City," including the first two images of Solovar. As you can see, Solovar — who is being voiced by Keith David (The Thing, Community) — is being depicted as a giant, white gorilla. That's a noticeable departure from his comic book counterpart, who looks like a regular gorilla but wears a fancy red cape. Created by writer John Broome and artist Carmine Infantino, Solovar made his first appearance in The Flash #106 alongside Gorilla Grodd and Pied Piper. The Barbie-like action figures include Diana in various different outfits (and on a horse), as well as her mother Queen Hippolyta and Steve Trevor. That's all set to change with a crossover between the Batman and Flash titles, with Tom King, Jason Fabok, Joshua Williamson, and Howard Porter all set to put the world's greatest detectives on a path to find out the significance of that blood-stained smiley face. The crossover begins April 19 in Batman #21. NCM will help stores tag their details onto a 15 or 30 second DC Universe: Rebirth ad and place it before appropriate movies playing. Stores can then submit expenses to DC Comics to get reimbursements of up to half their costs. Podcast: The Mystery of Nubia By all indications, 2017 needs a podcast dedicated to Queen Hippolyta's "second," "other," "dark" daughter who debuted on November 7, 1972 in Wonder Woman #204, so we're "Introducing Nubia!" The soul sister of the Amazing Amazon went on to appearances in Wonder Woman #205-206, including a solo back-up story, plus cameos in Supergirl #9 and The Super Friends #25 before vanishing from comics entirely for twenty years (and actually closer to a quarter century if you discount a single page of one of those comics.) Despite barely escaping 1973 in comics, Nubia managed to make appearances on television and in toy form when that was an extremely rare accomplishment, and her origin has a massive impact on Wonder Woman's own. Nubia was a contender, and we argue that she still matters 45 years later on this episode! Nubia is one of the least heralded but most valuable creations of Robert Kanigher, and possibly his single most important contribution across twenty years as a writer/editor of the Amazing Amazon (depending on how much credit you extend him on Wonder Girl.) The world is still waiting for Nubia to be fully embraced as a key component of Amazonian lore! For more on Nubia, check out my 2012 article on her, newly revised with fresh scans to replace the busted embeds Comicvine left me with. In this episode, Chris and Cindy Franklin share two of their favorite comic book mini-series; The Untold Legend of the Batman by Len Wein, John Byrne and Jim Aparo, and The Legend of Wonder Woman by Kurt Busiek and Trina Robbins. Batman is targeted for destruction by a foe who knows his every secret! The Darknight Detective must reexamine his own history to discover the shocking identity of this merciless tormentor before it is too late! Listen as Chris and Cindy wade through flashbacks filled with Silver Age retcons, and question how long it takes to build a Batmobile! Plus, how does this thing REALLY end, anyway? It's apparently open for debate…and they have one! Then, on to Paradise Island, where Queen Hippolyta mourns the loss of her daughter in the Crisis on Infinite Earths. She gazes back through time to witness Wonder Woman's battle with the evil Atomia and her subatomic world! Our hosts delight at Robbins' great Golden Age-inspired artwork, but bemoan the presence of the most irritating brat ever to grace the comic page…SUZIE!!! So slide down the Batpole, hop in the Invisible Plane, and join us for a nostalgic trip, deep in the recesses of long boxes everywhere! Subscribe via iTunes Be sure to let us know what you think! What did you think of these two mini-series, or what's your opinion on retcons and reboots like Crisis on Infinite Earths? Let your voice be heard! We'd love to read it aloud in an upcoming episode. Chris (aka Earth 2 Chris) co-hosts the Power Records Podcast with the Esteemed Rob Kelly over at the Fire and Water Podcast feed! It's Friday, I'm in love...with covering Green Lantern comics! Okay, all allusions to Robert Smith and the Cure aside, it's time for a review of another Green Lantern comic, and this time out it's a whole new Green Lantern, as Jenny Lynn Hayden is taking on the mantle of Earth's GL while Kyle is off gallavanting throughspace. But her first outing as Green Lantern might be her last as she encounters a plant based villainess named Spore, in some ways an evil female analogue to Swamp Thing. But Jenny doesn't go the fight alone as she goes to recruit the greatest heroine of the DC Universe, Wonder Woman. Will the two defeat the mossy menace? Will they wake Queen Hippolyta from her mid-day nap? And wlll they give an adequate explanation of just WHAT the JLA teleporters do that makes them feel all tingly in their lady parts (and talk slow when they do)? All of this will be answered when my U.S.1 podcast host, Jay Ferguson and I tackle this issue. So unless you want to incur the wrath of 90's Aquaman, I suggest you grab your mp3 player of choice, download the show, and get to listening!Feedback for this show can be sent to: justoneoftheguyspodcast@gmail.comJust One Of The Guys is a proud member of the Two True Freaks!
