The Waverider is full of Death Totem visions, Fire & Wind Totem practice and dimensional doorways. Even the jump ship is busy.   “Necromancing the Stone” – The Death Totem is controlled by Mallus and it has taken over Sara. She is fully possessed. Mallus uses the power of the totem to take out the Legends one by one. Ava, Gary & John must find their way onto the ship to help save the day. Mick becomes the totem bearer for the Fire Totem. Sara, in Mallus' dimension, is being worn down by Nora. Only Ava can speak the truth and break through to Sara. But Sara sees herself as a danger to Ava and the team. She breaks up with Ava.    “I, Ava” – Sara needs a break so she puts Amaya in charge. Zari and Mick butt heads as she tries to train him as a totem bearer. Nate & Wally go to help Mari, but run into trouble with Kuasa. She double crosses Nate and gets him captured. Amaya, Wally, and Nate are no match for Mallus possessed Nora. But Kuasa sacrifices herself to save them. Meanwhile, Ray, Gary and Sara discover that Ava is a clone from the future. This week the Waverider is flying between 1895, 1937, and 1253 B.C. We see a not vampire tale with a resurrection and a woman out of time starting wars tale. Join us as we rewatch "Return of The Mack" and "Helen Hunt" "Return of The Mack" finds Nate using his history skills and Gideon's help to find the patterns to the anachronisms and the outliers.  It led them to 1895 chasing a vampire in the time of Jack the Ripper. What they find is a cult worshiping Mallus, Rip on a vendetta to stop Mallus, and Damien and Nora Darhk.  Nora is working with Mallus to bring Damien back to life. We get some cool fight sequences and get to see Zari start to own her role as totem bearer. "Helen Hunt" has Helen of Troy brought to 1937 Hollywood. Even there she is starting literal wars by men wanting her. Jax & Stein have a "Freaky Friday" experience that only Hedy Lemar, actress and tech inventor, can solve. Damien, Nora, and Kuasa are there on Mallus's mission. We get to see Damien & Sara battle, a Totem Bearer battle, and the Legends versus Nora fight. We learn that Kuasa is Amaya's granddaughter and Nora is Damien's daughter. Past Sara gives some really solid advice to Spooner and then her future self gets that same type of advice from Mick. This is what makes Legends such a great show. Her constant battle with her identity has been etched into this character since she showed up as still alive having not died on the Queen's Gambit. Seeing her once again return from death and having the question of "Am I really me?" being asked never gets old because it's not only a defining part of her character but is done differently each time.  Also, this seems to set up perfectly for John needing to get the source of alien magic so he can perform a magical alien exorcism to get the alien part out of Sara. Welcome, Legendaires! We're back on the Waverider to discuss the premiere episode of season 6, Ground Control to Sara Lance. We pick up where we left off, a night of drunken fun in London 1977. Mick returns to the Waverider after dropping off his daughter to find it trashed. He finds Ava and together they piece together where to find the rest of the team. Nate is having a heart-to-heart with David Bowie, who shares that Sara was abducted by aliens. The Legends return to the Waverider with Bowie's super-8 footage and Ava finds out Sara was going to propose to her! Unfortunately, so does the entire team. Ava expertly plays the Legends until they do exactly what she knew they would do, leaving her and Nate to come up with a solid plan. We soon get the reveal that Gary was behind Sara's abduction and has been observing the Legends since his introduction to the team in Season 3. He has kidnapped Sara as an example of the quintessential human to please his boss and fiance, Kayla. Eventually, the Legends have a credible lead after they track down Spooner Cruz. She was abducted by aliens as a child and has an antenna in her head that will help locate the aliens. Between er antenna and Constantine's magic, they locate Gary, and Ava projects herself onto the alien ship. Renewed by her conversation with Ava, Sara breaks free from the cryopod and kicks Kayla out of the ship into the wormhole. Unfortunately, her tactics make the ship unstable and a bunch of aliens spills into the time stream while she and Gary careen off-course to a nearby planet.

By the end of it, the Arrowverse will not be the same - what a crisis! "Crisis on Infinite Earths" is the sixth annual Arrowverse crossover event, featuring episodes of Supergirl, Batwoman, The Flash, Arrow, and Legends of Tomorrow on The CW. With the first three episodes airing in December 2019 and the last two concluding the crossover in January 2020, this DC television crossover went bigger than ever before. That Film Stew's Luke and Nathan take on this multi-episode superhero epic which continues plotlines established in the previous crossover, "Elseworlds". In "Crisis", the Monitor gathers Green Arrow, the Flash, Supergirl, Batwoman, Sara Lance, Ray Palmer, and several "Paragons" from throughout the multiverse to stop the Anti-Monitor from destroying all of reality.

"Fadeout" for the final time as the Arrow television series comes to a close. Some things have changed in Star City and some things have stayed the same. But the biggest difference that everyone is feeling right now is that Oliver Queen is truly dead. His friends and family have come to mourn his passing. Sara Lance even brings Mia from the future to honor her father's memory. But as they try to cope with their loss, a man once captured by Green Arrow tries to exact his revenge by kidnapping young William. The team scours the city looking for him and contemplating their futures. Once Mia saves the day, they say their final farewell to both Oliver and the vigilante life they have been leading for all these years. Their futures may be up in the air, but in the actual future true love gets its happy ending. CW'S most ambitious crossover has finally ended after 5 heart-stopping episodes! In the beginning there was only darkness. Things changed and the emptiness was filled. Many worlds were born. There were countless variations and endless possibilities. On these Earth's protectors began to rise. People who would look after all those citizens taking steps to fulfill their various destinies. Thus the age of heroes was born.  On Earth 38 the DEO is in a state of frantic action. Brainy says there are  signs of a worldwide earthquake. J’onn begins to brief the team about what the Monitor has told him. There is a wave of antimatter headed their way.  This wave carries with it the power to wipe out entire Earths from existence. The next cosmic location to be effected is Argo City. Kara must find a way to warn Clark. J’onn begins to head up an evacuation plan. They are going to need a portal. As director of the DEO Alex must make hard choices. She must go apologize and put her trust in Lena Luthor to save the innocent residents of Earth 38.  Like his Father before him little Johnathan Kent has to be placed in an escape pod bound for Earth 1. At the same moment Argo is consumed Harbinger grabs his parents. They are added to the group she has assembled for the Monitor. The Earth shakes and a giant tower emerges. These structures have been placed on key Earth’s. Kara and Clark work on getting the towers functioning. Oliver gathers a team to take an offensive stand. Lois, Sara and Brainy set out to find where baby Jonathan has landed. Their quest for the tiny Kryptonian takes them to Earth 16 in 2046. Sara comes face to face with a remorseful Oliver. He apologizes saying he should have never taken her on the Gambit. Sara assures Ollie that getting on that boat was not a bad thing. It led her to where she is now.  It was her destiny. The team retrieves Jonathan and returns to Earth 38.  Upon their return the remaining heroes are facing off against a hoard of shadow demons. The Monitor said the battle is lost and resources must be conserved. Oliver refuses to give up until more people are evacuated. He had just told Mia that she must carry on and start telling her own stories. Unfortunately it looks like Oliver himself will not be around to witness it. He has given his life for Barry and Kara and the innocent souls of earth 38. There is no time to grieve with the antimatter wave taking Earth after Earth without discretion.  They must find the seven Paragons and then they can win the fight. In a lucky twist of fate some of the elite heroes were already among them. Sara Lance is the Paragon of Destiny. Barry Allen is the Paragon of Love. Martian Manhunter is the Paragon of Honor. Kara Danvers is the Paragon of Hope The quest is on to find three more.  Kara and Kate follow a lead to Earth 99 Gotham.  There they find a Bruce Wayne that is broken in both body and spirit. The Kate on his Earth has died. He and Superman got in a fight that left the Man of Steel dead and Bruce crippled. Needless to say Bruce is not happy with Kate’s Kryptonian friend. As he is dying he gives Kate a Kryptonite medallion for safe keeping.  Batwoman may think her mission is a failure. However upon her return Ray Palmer’s Paragon detector indicates that Kate Kane is the Paragon of Courage.  Lois and Clark are Earth hopping. They are trying to warn all the Supermen of the Multiverse.  You see Lex Luthor is on a quest to kill them all. Among the Men of Steel dwells one who has faced more than the rest and still remains a Hero. A rouge villain took everything from this Kal El in one explosive move. Having survived this experience has made this Superman the Paragon of Truth.  Barry Allen can not accept Oliver’s fate.   He was prepared to die in Crisis but not for his friend to die for him. Mia and Barry go on a mission to find a Lazarus pit that has yet to be destroyed by Nyssa. Sara is very uncomfortable with this plan. She knows all too well the consequences of being submerged in that magical water.  In the end she helps them because she misses Ollie too. They succeed in reviving his body. Oliver’s soul however is a different story.  Kara is really struggling with what has happened to her Mother and Earth. She comes very close to using the Book of Destiny despite the risks that would entail. The Monitor says to use that type of power to change an outcome could cause insanity.  Kara believes her role as the Paragon of Hope means she should remain hopeful. That she can fix this immensely sad turn of events. Thank goodness Kate is there to talk her out of it. Supergirl doesn’t push mystical power past the point of no return. Living under the crimson sky of death can be pretty stressful. All you want to do is hold your loved ones close until the danger subsides.  This is all Ryan Choi wants to do when Iris, Ralph and Ray come to see him. Iris is very persuasive in her argument that humans also have important roles to play in the fight to save the Earth. They need Ryan on their side. He is the Paragon of Humanity. If there is any hope to save Oliver’s humanity they must save his soul. It is time for Constantine to make a deal with the devil.  On earth 666 Constantine looks to his old friend Lucifer Morningstar. He gives them a round trip ticket to purgatory. As long as they can find Oliver’s soul before the picture on the ticket fades away. Cisco has found the source of the antimatter wave. The monitor restores Cisco’s vibe power and he and Barry race over to the source to try to stop the destruction. When they arrive they find Flash from Earth 90 trapped on the cosmic treadmill that is powering this disaster.  Vibe is able to breech Earth 90 Flash off the treadmill but the Anti- Monitor has programmed in a fail safe. All the remaining Earths will disintegrate at once if The Flash stops running. This is the moment that Barry has prepared for. This is the mission he has been running toward. The monitor said The Flash must die in Crisis. He never said which one. Before Barry can climb upon the cosmic treadmill Earth 90 Flash temporarily steals his speed. Earth 90 Flash has led a full life and would like to give Barry the opportunity to live his.   Earth 90 Flash runs and runs until he is reduced to molecules. The only Earth left in the multiverse is saved. Oliver will not return with his daughter and best friend. Oliver feels he has to become something else. In purgatory Oliver meets The Spector. He feels taking on this identity is his latest mission. Back on the Waverider the Anti-Monitor has infiltrated the Paragons. He takes over Harbinger and fights his alter ego the Monitor. In the last moments of the Multiverse our Paragons are transported to the Vanishing Point. A place that exists outside of time and space. All is lost.  There are no more earths. They are once again in darkness as it was in the beginning. Can the Paragons do anything to put right what has been destroyed? What will Oliver Queen contribute as The Spector?  The end of the world does stop one of the most intelligent mad men in the Universe. Lex Luthor has changed his destiny putting himself in the place of the Paragon of Truth. Can our heroes restore the Multiverse?  Will there be many Earths or just one? Will the cosmos soon be full again or an empty black void as far as the eye can see? Can they do it all with one of the world’s most cunning villains in their company? Along with the announcement is the first teaser for the series, featuring the iconic Bat symbol and our first look at the show's logo. Played by Ruby Rose, Batwoman made her Arrowverse debut during this season's yearly crossover event, titled "Elseworlds." Even though Batwoman will follow Kate Kane's exploits in Gotham City, the series will only get "as close as it possibly can" to Batman without ever physically introducing him. ABOUT ARROW: Arrow is an American television series developed by writer/producers Greg Berlanti, Marc Guggenheim, and Andrew Kreisberg. It is based on the DC Comics character Green Arrow, a costumed crime-fighter who was created by Mort Weisinger and George Papp. It premiered in North America on The CW on October 10, 2012, with international broadcasting taking place in late 2012. The series follows billionaire playboy Oliver Queen, portrayed by Stephen Amell, who, after five years of being stranded on a hostile island, returns home to fight crime and corruption as a secret vigilante whose weapon of choice is a bow and arrow. Arrow has received generally positive reviews from critics, and was the highest rated new series on the CW in past five years up to its release. The series averaged approximately 3.68 million viewers over the course of the first season, and has garnered multiple award nominations and three wins. To assist in promotion, a preview comic book was released before the television series began, while webisodes featuring a product tie-in with Bose were developed for the second season. The first season is available on DVD and Blu-ray in regions 1, 2 and 4 and a soundtrack of it also been released. The second season of Arrow premiered on October 9, 2013, and is available on DVD and Blu-ray in regions 1, 2 and 4 and two versions of a soundtrack of it also been released. Arrow 06X23 Life Sentence / Review / Oliver Queen / Sara Lance / Diaz HD Star city is safe but at what cost

Sara wields the Death Totem and becomes the Death Witch after Mallus possesses her. She singles out the Legends and takes them down one-by-one only to be stopped by an unlikely hero: Heat Wave.   Synopsis   Sara wakes from a nightmare in which she is haunted by a little girl. Ava calms her down and they have the GF talk, where Sara awkwardly explains away her latest fling, John Constantine. Gideon interrupts at the worst time and announces the anachronisms are getting worse. Back to work. Sara sends the Legends out in pairs to tackle to the anachronisms and suddenly gets a terrible headache.   With all of the Legends occupied, Sara makes some coffee and tries to shake her headache, when she decides to follow the source of the sound. As it turns out, the Death totem is calling to her, and she finally gets some relief after she opens the encrypted box holding the totem. Through the Death totem, Mallus projects Sara as the Canary and she talks herself into wielding the Death totem. Unfortunately, that’s all Mallus wanted, and he takes over her body, imprisoning the Sara Lance we know in the spirit realm.   Death Witch Sara starts by taking out Ray, since Mick is sound asleep in the library. Amaya and Zari return to find Ray, badly injured, and wake-up Rory to help them deal with Ray’s attacker. They soon learn it is Sara, but not the Captain they have come to know and love. When Amaya and Mick try to take her on, she nearly kills them, and Wally speeds in and saves them. Their plan, after Sara locks down the ship and maroons them in the time stream, is for Wally to use his speed and tie Sara up. Unfortunately, Wally encounters the Death totem’s version of Jessie. He confronts her, hopefully finding some much needed closure, but he is distracted and does not notice the anti-speedster gun. Jessie fades, revealing Sara holding the gun, and she shoots Wally.   Meanwhile, Ava and Gary are doing their best to find John Constantine, the only person who might be able to save Sara from Mallus. Ava reveals to Constantine that Sara is wielding the Death totem and Constantine explains why Mallus has a particularly strong bond with that totem. Apparently, the Sixth Tribe of Zambesi was lost to time because they sided with Mallus in the war that ultimately imprisoned him. When Constantine and Ava try to enter Mallus’s realm, he denies them entry, forcing them to find another way to rescue Sara.   Back on the Waverider, it’s Zari’s turn to come-up with a plan and she heads to the mainframe, hoping to free the jump ship from whatever lock-down Sara has initiated. But Mallus is two steps ahead, and Zari is confronted by her dead brother, as a child begging for her to tell his favorite nighttime story. Knowing he isn’t there, she says goodbye to him and turns to smash the mainframe. She succeeds, but a blast knocks her down and suddenly Sara is there and nearly kills her too. For a moment, Zari gets through and Sara breaks Mallus’s hold, if only for a few seconds. Nora appears and compliments her resolve, but tells her “no one can fight Mallus forever.”   Luckily, Gary has a plan! Don’t laugh, but he has played this campaign before. There’s a monk (Wally), a druid (Amaya), a rogue (Mick), a bard (Nate), “a cheerful gnome who was also an accomplished wizard” (Ray), and a missing sorceress (Zari), who are all fighting Xanathar the Unburnt and his death sword (Sara/Mallus and the Death Totem). How do you win? (You don’t, but...) you can fight the totem with another totem.   Back on the Waverider, it’s Nate’s turn to get his butt kicked. He attempts to wield the Earth totem, but before he can put it on, his grandfather distracts him. He knows his grandfather is dead, he watched him die after all, but he is still pulled into Mallus’s trap and Sara gets the upper hand. Constantine turns up on the Waverider just in time to save Nate from being beaten to death. He has some tricks up his sleeve, but Mallus still gets the upper hand, even after trying to distract him with Astra. Before he can finish him off, Amaya convinces Mick to wield the Fire totem and Mallus drops Constantine to handle this “new” threat. Just as Sara appears, Mick tosses a fireball at her and knocks her out.   In the spirit realm, Sara is having a discussion with Nora about the darkness within. She relives her worst memory: murdering a little girl’s father right in front of her. On the Waverider, Ava is trying to reach out to Sara, begging her to return from the spirit realm. Assuming the Fire totem has scared off Mallus, Ava calls Sara back to her body after ripping off the Death totem. Unfortunately, this experience has reminded Sara of all her faults that she has worked so hard to put behind her. John Constantine joins the Legends in an unexpected quest to save Nora Darhk from the demon Mallus. The team loses Nora to the Order, preserving her future and our present, while Mallus gains a stronger hold over our Captain.   Synopsis   John Constantine breaks into an asylum to save Emily (aka Nora Darhk) and discovers something he was not expecting: the demon possessing Nora is Mallus and knows Sara Lance. Constantine tracks down the Legends in Central City and questions Sara about her involvement with Mallus. Sara reveals she traveled to the spirit world, allowing her to be known to, and tracked by, Mallus. She then convinces Constantine to allow her and the Legends to tag along to the exorcism.   As soon as they arrive and find Nora, Kuasa arrives at the asylum to prevent the Legends from interfering with Mallus’ possession of Nora Darhk. Amaya takes her on while the rest of the Legends try to wake Nora. In the end, Nate leaves to help Amaya and uses Leo’s cold gun to freeze Kuasa. They return to the Waverider with Kuasa while Sara, Leo and Constantine stay behind to exorcise Nora.   Unfortunately, Mallus is too strong for Constantine to handle and Mallus/Nora create an incantation to send Constantine and our two Legends back in time. They are now stranded in 1969 with no weapons and no way to communicate with the rest of the Legends throughout time. They decide to go with only way they know to communicate through time: place a note behind a painting and hope the Legends left in 2017 can find it.   Foiled again! Leo tries to plant the note and is stopped by orderlies. The younger version of Nora’s psychiatrist appears and orders Leo taken to surgery for a lobotomy. Meanwhile, John and Sara wander the halls of the asylum while Mallus haunts Sara, trying to break her. Constantine finds a way to reach her and cast Mallus out, for now. Then, unsure of who is seducing who, they make good use of a secluded laundry room. Luckily for Leo, they find him before he is lobotomized.   Meanwhile in 2017, Mick tries to watch a football but can’t hear for the rest of the team bickering! He pipes up and tells them all what to do, all in the name of peace, quiet and football. Ray and Zari head to the asylum, Nate and Amaya go their separate ways, and Kuasa remains frozen a little while longer.   Ray and Zari break Nora out of the asylum and bring her to Star City Jitters. Unfortunately, breaking news takes Nora back to her darkest days right after Oliver killed her father. Mallus makes his entrance and creates quite a scene in Jitters.   Meanwhile, Constantine summons Mallus into Sara so she can perform the time incantation that brought them to 1969 in the first place. While she is in the spirit world, she encounters Nora and encourages her to fight back. Luckily for her, she picks the exact time Nora is about to kill Zari, one of the Six, and Nora takes her body back from Mallus. Sara finishes her incantation and the Legends return to 2017. Daddy Darhkest makes his entrance, ensuring that his daughter is put back under the Order’s control so she may eventually resurrect him in her future (and the Legends past).   Back on the Waverider, Amaya has an informative chat with her granddaughter, too informative some might say, before Nate interferes. Kuasa does her best to kill him, but Amaya promises she will save her if she lets him go.   In the closing scenes, Constantine warns Ray to keep his nanite gun close as he may need to use it on Sara in the near future. Leo and Mick share a heartfelt goodbye during a football game. Legends Of Tomorrow had a big presence at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con where cast and producers revealed exciting new details about the third season of the time traveling superhero series. Legends Of Tomorrow Podcast/DC TV Podcasts participated in the press room for Legends of Tomorrow where Amy Marie Hypnarowski (of The Flash Podcast and Legends of Tomorrow Podcast) chatted with the cast at the round tables to get some new details on Season 3. One of the cast members who attended was the Captain of the Waverider, Caity Lotz, who plays Sara Lance a.k.a. the White Canary. Pasdar will play Morgan Edge, a ruthless real estate developer who will find himself at odds with Lena Luthor. Lumbly will play J'onn's father M'yrnn J'onzz, a pacifist religious leader on Mars. Grobglas will play Psi, a psychic villain who uses people's minds against them. Tremblay will play Ruby, a smart kid who's fascination with Supergirl lands her in serious trouble. The CW announced today that both Wentworth Miller and Neal McDonough will reprise their roles as Captain Cold and Damien Darhk, respectively, on the upcoming third season of DC's Legends of Tomorrow. Miller will actually return in a recurring capacity, but he won't exactly be the Leonard Snart we came to know and love in seasons one and two. He'll instead be playing a brand new version of fan-favorite character, which should lead to some interesting interactions between him and Mick. During the panel, executive producer Phil Klemmer teased, “Mick Rory needs his pal, but unfortunately he's not going to get the version of his pal that he remembers.” Meanwhile, McDonough will be upped to a series regular and will also come with his own, more dangerous, changes. "We'll be meeting a new version of Damien Darhk, a little less silly, a little more formidable." Arthur Darvill will also be back as Rip Hunter, but in a recurring role, and it sounds like he'll be coming into conflict with his former teammates. “Last season, the Legends were the only game in town,” Klemmer said. “Now they're competing with the best and brightest. Rip Hunter has reconstituted what the Time Masters were, so the existential question for the Legends is where do we fit into this universe?” As for new additions, a new villain will arise in the form of Kuasa, Vixen's granddaughter. Is there any chance Alura is actually still alive on Supergirl? — With Erica Durance joining the show in a recast of Alura, EW pressed new showrunners Jessica Queller and Robert Rovner for answers at Comic-Con. “Shrouded in mystery, those questions,” Queller said coyly. Rovner added: “We wanted to keep Alura's presence on the show because it really connects Kara to Krypton and her roots and what it meant to see her family and her planet destroyed. It's an emotional grounding that's always important.” However, there's a good chance Mon-El ended up in the Phantom Zone — you know, the same Kryptonian prison that Alura had a hand in sending criminals to, so what if she escaped the destruction of Krypton and ended up there herself? "We don't really talk about it on a yearly basis but it was mentioned early on and that's a goal. Obviously we'd have to go I think ten years to reach that, so there's a possibility for sure. It'll be fun to get there." The massive multiverse event saw the collapse of multiple parallel universes, along with the "death" of The Flash himself. The story has been hinted at since the pilot episode of the show, where the Reverse Flash views a newspaper headline from the future stating that The Flash has "vanished in a crisis". Showrunner Todd Helbing also spoke to CB about the upcoming season 4, which he promised will be "fun" again after the "doom and gloom" of season 3. The Justice Society of America was conceived by editor Sheldon Mayer and writer Gardner Fox. The JSA first appeared in All Star Comics #3 (Winter 1940–1941). VIXEN - Probably the most recognizable member of the JSA's cast this time around was Vixen -- at least for fans of the CWverse. In addition to having her own animated series, Vixen -- an African-American woman who derives the power of animals from the Tantu Totem she wears around her neck -- had a memorable guest appearance on Arrow last season. Of course, that's all Mari. This woman? Mari's grandmother, Amaya Jiwe, who passed the totem down through their family. HOURMAN - Rex Tyler, also known as Hourman, is a Golden Age superhero and the first of a number of characters to use the Hourman name. Tyler has a number of superhuman abilities, like enhanced strength, reflexes, and healing -- but only for an hour at a time. His abilities are given to him by Miraclo, a drug he designed himself. There is an Hourman legacy including Rex's son Rick and an android from the 853rd Century programmed to act as a member of the Tyler family. The android, at a point in the past, presented Rex with an hourglass infused with tachyons -- time in its most basic form -- and that hourglass would become part of both his and Rick's costumes. Said hourglass has been seen on board the Waverider on previous episodes of DC's Legends of Tomorrow.. STARGIRL - Stargirl is Courtney Whitmore. In the TV series, she exists in 1942 -- but in the original comics, she was created (and existed) in 1999, and was part of a "next generation" of Justice Society members who came up in the late '90s and early 2000s. Courtney Whitmore was created by Geoff Johns and Lee Moder, and has a famous backstory: Johns named her after (and based her personality on) his sister Courtney, who died in the explosion of TWA Flight 800 in 1996. COMMANDER STEEL - Commander Steel is Hank Heywood, Sr., the first in a line of DC heroes to use variations on the Steel moniker. A legend in the World War II era and a member of the All-Star Squadron and later the Justice Society of America, Heywood's body had surgically-implanted mechanized steel devices that allowed his body to work on a superhuman level. Originally just "Steel," he was promoted to Commander Steel by President Roosevelt in 1940 -- so while this is his first appearance in live action, it's timeline-accurate to call him Commander Steel by this point in his career since the story takes place in 1942. DOCTOR MID-NITE - Doctor Mid-Nite is a name shared by a number of blind super-heroes and physicians with the ability to see in the darkness, using blackout bombs and martial arts to gain an advantage over criminals. Doctor Mid-Nite was created by Charles Reizenstein and Stan Aschmeier, first appearing in All-American Comics #25. OBSIDIAN - Obsidian is the son of Golden Age Green Lantern Alan Scott, a founding member of the JSA in the comics. He and his sister Jade would go on to play an important role in the Justice Society's sinoff groups the Young All-Stars and Infinity, Inc., as well as eventually joining the Justice Society itself. He was also briefly affiliated with the Justice League. LEAVENWORTH - The United States Penitentiary, Leavenworth is a medium-security United States federal prison for male inmates in northeast Kansas. On Arrow, it was revealed that Leavenworth is where John Diggle is being held while awaiting his court martial. KRIEGER - There are basically two figures who could have inspired Baron Krieger, even though there is no specific Baron Krieger in DC Comics. The first is Baron Blitzkrieg: Originally a World War II German army officer, the man who would be Baron Blitzkrieg was blinded when a concentration camp prisoner threw acid into his face. German scientists experimented on him, giving him injections of experimental drugs which would give him incredible powers for brief periods of time. The other possibility is Albrecht Krieger, who was basically Captain America, but for Nazis. A genetically-modified super-soldier, Krieger also had a mad scientist brother and a psychic  sister we might have to worry about if it's him -- and while the backstory feels a lot more like Blitzkrieg's, Krieger has not only the name but the general look of this week's threat. MAX LORENZ - Max Lorenz was a famous singer, who lived in Germany around the time of World War II and is widely known as "Hitler's favorite tenor." Of course, it's a handy thing that Legends of Tomorrow star Victor Garber has the pipes to make that scene convincing. UBERMENSCH - It's worth noting that there are several references to "Übermensch" in here, which is derived from Nietzsche in Thus Spake Zarathustra, one of the influences for Superman, which is more or less what the word translates to directly. The term can literally translate to "Overman," which in the DC Comics universe is an alternate-universe version of Superman who lives on an Earth where the Nazis won World War II.REVERSE-FLASH - Eobard Thawne, the Reverse-Flash, may have something up his sleeve. At the end of The Flash's Season 3 premiere earlier this month, he said that while his future was as it should be, Barry's might not be. Barry then went home to discover a number of small anomalies that made his life and those of his friends worse. Now, we learn that "somebody" is outfitting the villains of history with future tech in order to push the world to a slightly worse place. Could Eobard Thawne have stepped right out of "Flashpoint" and into "Out of Time?" Either way, seeing him and Darhk together is enough to make seasoned Arrowverse fans quake in their boots even before they know the other members of Thawne's little Legion of Doom. The Torah - “Is that from the Torah?” Oliver asks Rory before the Moby-Dick metaphor starts. That's a not-so-subtle nod to Ragman's Jewish heritage, which has been mentioned before. It's worth a note that Rory and Felicity's Jewish heritage makes the current incarnation of Team Arrow probably the most diverse groups of superheroes ever assembled on TV, with Oliver being the only non-ethnic male on the team. It's happened without much in the way of the fanfare and attention these things usually get, so it seems worth at least a mention. Channel 52 - Here, it's Channel 52's news story when Oliver is checking on Dunn. McGuire's ? - It's not clear whether McGuire's (which could also be Maguire's or McGwire's) bar is actually meant to be a reference, but if it is, it's likely to Bridget McGuire, who was an art director on Arrow's first two seasons. ..IS THAT A 'ROCKY IV' REFERENCE? - Because it's Dolph Lundgren playing a big Russian, we're going to be looking for references to Rocky IV pretty much every week until we're sure we've seen one. That said, wrapping his hands in gauze like you do before you put your boxing gloves on (yes, we know his hands were injured. Still!), and then having him unleash a hail of haymakers on Oliver carries a little bit of an Ivan Drago context to it, doesn't it? John Jr. - This is the first time we've seen John Diggle, Jr. actually appear onscreen! He's a cute kid. He also, if you remember, used to be Sara Diggle (named for the then-dead-now-better Sara Lance) before Barry Allen traveled back in time and changed history in the "Flashpoint" event. HUB CITY - "The Marshals are halfway to Hub City by now," Lyla Michaels tells Diggle. Hub City, a fictional city in the DC Universe, is best known as the home to The Question, a self-taught urban shaman. While The Question didn't appear when Oliver visited the city last year, mystic Esrin Fortuna seemed like she had a similar role (and since there was a female Question for a while, some fans on Twitter briefly wondered whether that could be what we were seeing unfold). Moby Dick is a novel written by Herman Melville in 1851. The narrator is Ishmael, and he recounts his time on the whaling ship Pequod under the command of Captain Ahab. This is when Barry Allen introduces Supergirl to the group. At first Diggle is not sure why Supergirl is special, but gets impressed when she hovers. Berlanti is not a fan of the shows being called the “Berlantiverse.” According to him, “There are just so many people that are also part of this. Plus, you never want anything named after you that people could be upset or angry about.” The creators like that the shows are steeped in genuine relationship drama and that they are about something. “These shows have to work on multiples levels,” says Berlanti, “You want them to be enjoyable. But if they're not about something, why are you showing up to work every day and asking everybody to pour their heart and soul into a story if it's only about the Flash fighting a villain of the week?” As for bumps in the road the shows have had?
