The Matrix: Resurrections pulls the ReWatchable panel back into the fold for one last ride with the original crew. Although everything seems slightly the same, this meta retelling of the series offers something new for everyone. Leaning into the film took a bit of effort at the start, but the film still laid the groundwork for another discussion of the larger themes of the piece from Lana Wachowski. Join us as we ask the big questions, such as: Did this movie need to be made? Did we enjoy it? Did Keanu make another joke?! Fun Facts Natalie's hair cannot get short enough, Karen has a car (and a lot of additional responsibility), and Kendra literally entered the Mirrorverse with Spider-Man. As a reminder: we are no longer found on Hypable – we are now on Subjectify Media! Read all about it in our relaunch article: Reintroducing ReWatchable: And our next round is… – Subjectify Media Overall impressions Did this movie need to be made? Kendra's Kontemplations from the movie theater seat Keanu's did not make a joke (Brittany determines this while writing the show notes) Let's discuss the motive behind making this movie Did this movie serve every audience member? Yes, update those CGI graphics!! There is a new The One, what do we think of our lead? Everyone finally has a sensible Matrix outfit Neo is removed from the Matrix and it takes a bit for us to get into the film and sort out what exactly is going on Meta seems like a bad descriptor (thanks, Zuckerberg), but we did enjoy bits of the meta of it all Sense8 is all over the place, stay tuned for us to point them out Welcome Jonathan Groff (we love you so much) What did we think of the changes in Agent Smith here? We don't know the whole story about bringing back Morpheus 1.0, but we like Morpheus 2.0 The Choice is there, but is it really? Tweaking the code got rid of some of the elements that were bothersome from the original trilogy Following the White Rabbit Going from a phone call to Zoom – an excellent description of the Matrix upgrade Ladies and gentleman, Neo Unplugged Meet a new generation of characters We're going back to Io “You never appreciated our relationship” The biggest question: Is this a love story? At the heart of the story is Trinity, is that a good thing? Would you prefer to be in the pod? (Not this pod because the answer is obviously, yes) Unlike this episode, the movie has some after credits scenes This episode's panel included all superfans: Karen Rought, Kendra Cleary, Natalie Fisher, and one panelist who saw it but didn't show up: Brittany Lovely. Rebinging Star Trek DS9: Through the Looking Glass Hello Star Trek fans! Welcome to Season 3 Episode 19 of Deep Space Nine: Through the Looking Glass. Yassss! Back to the Mirrorverse! This time it's Sisko who gets pulled into the dark other world by Mirror Miles who has rigged a device to just beam across! Who knew it was so easy?? We've got some bumpy stuff in this episode with a woefully done-wrong-by Dax and some questionable acting by one of the guest stars...but we also get Leather Kira, cowboy Sisko and cranky Garak, so maybe it's not so bad. Through the Looking Glass (Again) We knew Miles was up to something when he turned up in Ops in a new outfit that was not his uniform, his rebel outfit or his sexy Keiko-only outfit. And we were right...this is not our beloved Chief, it's Mirror Miles and he's come to kidnap Sisko. So Sisko finally gets a taste of the Mirrorverse and at first he's not so thrilled to be there, but then he finds out that his wife Jennifer is still around in this universe. So he thinks you know what, maybe I'll hang out here a bit and he embarks on a mission to save Jennifer from herself and the Alliance. What's this rebinge thing? It's a re-watch of a thing you've already seen but love to watch and talk about. We go deep with every episode, walking you through every scene and analyzing all of the characters and story lines. Please listen to some of our favorite episodes like Duet, The Wire or Past Tense Part II and check out the previous episode, Distant Voices (and all of its tennis balls). Next time... One week after Eva's attack, Central City begins to rebuild as Iris and Allegra work to cover the Mirrorverse incident. The former struggles to face the trauma from her ordeal in the Mirrorverse while Barry grapples with his guilt over not deducing Mirror-Iris was an impostor. Meanwhile, Abra Kadabra returns and lets himself be arrested by A.R.G.U.S. so he can complete an anti-matter bomb that he intends to use on Central City in retaliation for his family being erased from existence following the Crisis and to make Barry suffer. Barry successfully talks Kadabra into disabling the bomb, but they are suddenly attacked by a monster, which absorbs the bomb. Kadabra attempts to save Barry, but is killed by the monster. It nearly kills Barry as but it winces in pain and runs off. Allegra is promoted to staff writer and Iris joins a Mirrorverse support group. Elsewhere, after both suffering from headaches, Frost and Caitlin Snow have separated from each other. Da da da….. BUT THEN: The team deduces that when Mirror Monarch used her Mirror gun on Caitlin, Frost's metahuman DNA needed to create a new body, causing their headaches. While Caitlin wants them to re-merge, Frost wants to live her own life. At S.T.A.R. labs, the Speed Force (as Barry's mother Nora) appears, badly hurt, carrying the same energy signature from the being (now named Fuerza) that attacked Barry & Kadabra. Barry places his speed force gauge on Nora's wrist so they can monitor her health. The Flash encounters an enemy nicknamed Psych, who uses his powers to force people to see their worst fears, forcing Barry into a hallucination with Eobard Thawne and Savitar, leaving him injured. Psych sends out fear waves trapping people in perpetual nightmares. The team uses Cecile's abilities and Devoe's Chair, along with Barry's speed, to send a wave of courage to counteract Psych's wave of fear, defeating Psych. However, Barry is still suffering from the attacks, and needs to put himself in the cryogenic chamber to heal himself. The liaison from the Governor's Municipal Logistics Commission, Kristen Kramer, arrives at the CCPD. Iris doesn't trust her and does a full background check on her. Kristen admits to Joe that she's really there to apprehend the fugitive Killer Frost. Later, Speed Force Nora wakes up & tells the team that Psych also attacked her. She also believes that Fuerza & Psych are like her.

Eva begins replacing people with mirror duplicates, while Sue Dearbon and Ralph Dibny return with evidence to exonerate Sue of Eva's crimes, but, due to an explosion at McCulloch Technologies while obtaining the evidence, Ralph’s body was badly damaged. Though Eva convinces Barry he cannot win, the Original Harrison Wells comes to him and reminds him that he is the Paragon of Love. As Barry checks on Iris, he revives her with a spark while holding her hand. Barry and his team revive the original Speed Force with the latent speed force energy in Iris before he and Iris convince Eva to stand down. Showing remorse, Eva tries to stop her duplicates, but they become too powerful, so she joins forces with Barry and Iris to destroy them. After freeing her prisoners, Eva leaves for the Mirrorverse to start anew. Claiming that he can now perceive all of his life at once and travel freely through time and space, Harrison Wells decides to put himself in a time loop so he can live peacefully with his wife, Tess Morgan, while an exonerated Sue and a recuperating Ralph travel the world to stop other Black Hole-esque organizations. 18 hours earlier, when Barry and Iris revived the Speed Force, they unknowingly released four differently colored lightning bolts into the sky of Central City.
"Mother" takes her place as the Mirror Monarch as she replaces the citizens of Central City with her mirror duplicates and takes over the city. Flash is back to his emotional self but has also lost his speed. The team tries to save Iris after returning from the Mirrorverse. Everything is looking pretty bleak until the original Harrison Wells shows up to motivate them all. In order to get Barry's speed back, they will use the power of love and Iris as a lightning rod. The final battle is on to stop Eva and get everyone back. Jay and Josh are advised to avoid reflective surfaces on this week's episode of Scarlet Velocity: A Flash Podcast!
After mourning the loss of Nash and the Wells', Barry and Cisco work on a solution to save Iris, Kamilla, and Singh by opening a portal to the Mirrorverse. Meanwhile, in the Mirrorverse, Iris plans a rendezvous with Kamilla and Singh. Barry's returned speed from the Artificial Speed Force gives him speed-thinking, resulting in him being able to predict outcomes, but at the cost of his emotions. In the process, he exposes Eva as a mirror duplicate in the middle of a live television broadcast, forcing her to flee. When Barry decides to prioritize saving Iris while disregarding the others, Cisco, Frost and Allegra team up to stop him, but fail. In the Mirrorverse, Kamilla and Singh start having seizures since they were sent there with the Mirror Gun. Barry opens the portal, forcing Iris to come through and leaves Singh and Kamilla behind, however, after coming through, Iris starts having seizures. After Barry realizes he has endangered his friends and wife by relying on his speed-thinking to stop Eva, he disables the Artificial Speed Force, putting him back to having his speed in danger of depleting. Elsewhere, Eva decides to replace all of Central City with mirror duplicates and starts by replacing CCPD officer Daisy Korber. Flashback to 20 years ago: Eobard Thawne replaces the original Harrison Wells and kills him, placing his body in a grave. However, mysteriously, Wells re-materializes and is now alive standing on top of his own grave.

Barry has put himself into stasis to try and preserve the 1% Speed he has left, but is woken by Chester following another attack by Eva. Eva has been busy destroying every remnant of Black Hole and tries to argue she's on the same side as the Flash as they both want Black Hole gone, but Barry simply retorts that if Eva was telling the truth then she would’ve already let Iris out of the Mirror World. Meanwhile, Cecile tries to interrogate Rosalind Dillon following Eva's murder of Sam Scudder, the first mirror duplicate she ever created. She discovers Dillon was also once an empath and that she was working with Black Hole and was actually a mastermind. Elsewhere, Nash discovers from the other Wells occupying his mind that there may be a way to partially activate the artificial speed force, but that it would result in his death, so searches for an alternative. Nash, Allegra, and Chester try a new method which results in Barry absorbing the minds of all the other Wells. Cecile uses her full powers against Dillon getting her to reveal that Eva plans to destroy a Black Hole plane over Central City. Chester, Allegra, and Nash restore Barry's mind and Nash sacrifices himself and the other Wells to power the artificial Speed Force and hands control of his body over to H.R. Wells, Sherloque and Harry so they can each have a moment to say goodbye to Barry. With the artificial Speed Force running, Barry has his powers back and saves the plane. Nash, upon his sacrifice, is disintegrated. The Black Hole items on the airplane end up in the custody of A.R.G.U.S. as Barry has Chester inform Cisco about what happened to Wells. Elsewhere, Iris attempts to escape from the Mirrorverse. Eva messes with Iris by presenting her with visions of herself mocking her over her situation. Eva sees footage of the night of the particle accelerator explosion and realizes that she's just a mirror duplicate. The real Eva never entered the Mirror World, and instead died upon impacting the mirror causing the mirror Eva to think that everything she originally thought was wrong.

Barry warns Carver about Eva’s intent to kill him, but Carver feels his meta-human army of Esperanza, Kimiyo and Sunshine are enough protection, but Carver returns to Barry when Eva kidnaps them. Mirror Singh offers to return Iris in exchange for Barry giving up Carver, but Nash teleports them back to Star Labs before Barry answers. Hiding at the reinforced McCulloch building, Ralph discovers that Sue joined Black Hole to kill Carver, but tries to talk her out of it. The meta-human trio attack the McCulloch building, as Eva gave them a choice to turn on their boss in exchange of being free of him. As Nash, Allegra, Sue and Elongated Man battle them, Mirror Singh sacrifices himself to get Eva inside the building, knocking out Barry. Eva kills Carver with mirror shards, despite the Flash's attempt to stop her. She takes over McCulloch Technologies and lets Flash and his friends go despite Flash's promise to never stop coming after her. Eva reveals herself to the public, saying that she was held hostage by a crime syndicate and rescued by Carver, but he was killed soon after. Sue believes she is free with Carver dead, but Ralph reveals that Eva framed Sue for Carver's murder. The team then plans to clear Sue's name and rescue the Mirrorverse prisoners, while Joe returns from witness protection, and Caitlin departs with her mother for her medical tests. Meanwhile, Iris is able to concentrate enough to read the Mirrorverse STAR Labs monitors to find Singh's location, but the neural dissonance intensifies to the point that Iris inexplicably vanishes before Kamilla's eyes.
With The Flash season 6 having come to an early end, given the Coronavirus pandemic, viewers will have to wait patiently for the fastest man alive as season 7 will be premiering on The CW in January 2021. Following the 19th episode, which served as the season finale, what's next for Eva McCulloch? What happened to Iris West-Allen at the very end inside the Mirrorverse? How will Barry stop Eva from getting away with her lies with barely any speed left? Those are just a handful of questions that will be answered next year. The Flash Podcast recently had the honor of chatting with the show's new showrunner Eric Wallace in a post-mortem interview following the big finale this week. Throughout our chat with Wallace, the EP talks about how they'll deal with the three unproduced episodes from this season when production eventually does resume this year. He also discusses what he hopes to do with the seventh season as season 6 got to experiment with new storytelling methods compared to past seasons. In addition to that, Wallace offers some exciting teases for new DC characters in season 7, what's going on with Godspeed and Reverse-Flash as well as how Iris and her marriage with Barry will grow and strengthen after her journey in the Mirrorverse. That and so much more – major thanks to Mr. Wallace and WBTV for the opportunity! Barry visits Joe to tell him about Iris being missing and Mirror Iris' death. At S.T.A.R. Labs, he reveals that Eva was behind the mirror clones and his uncertainty about Iris and Kamilla. Following attacks by four drones of Godspeed throughout the year, Godspeed attacks, trying to drain Barry's speed using thunderous vibrations. Realizing they need a vibrations expert, Barry goes to Hartley, who hates him in the post-Crisis timeline. One of his henchmen, Roderick who is later revealed to be Hartley’s boyfriend, was destabilized on a molecular level when the Flash fought Hartley years prior. Iris finds Kamilla in the Mirrorverse and explains everything. Godspeed acquires all the other Godspeeds' speed, before taking hostages. Barry and Hartley combine their powers to stop Godspeed; whose "charged sound" fixes Roderick. At Iron Heights, Godspeed tells Barry that the one who sent him wants infinite velocity; it turns out this Godspeed is another drone. Barry gets his confidence back to defeat Eva and Cisco believes he can build a new Speed Force using something from Atlantis. Iris begins to succumb to the same neurological degradation that Eva did due to long-term exposure to the Mirrorverse. Frost admits to Ralph that she is afraid to properly meet Caitlin's mother. Elsewhere, Eva prepares to confront her husband.

In this week's episode of The Flash Podcast, Andy and Lacy get together as they review the thirteenth episode of season six of The Flash. In the episode “Grodd Friended Me”, Gorilla Grodd makes his big return since Season 5, but in a surprising way as he and Barry have their biggest moment ever in the series run. Meanwhile, Nash keeps seeing the mysterious Harrison Wells following him while the Mirrorverse plot takes an interesting turn of events. That and more on this week's episode of The Flash Podcast - The Flash returns on Tuesday, March 10 with Keiynan Lonsdale's Wally West a.k.a. Kid Flash! THE FLASH “Grodd Friended Me” — (8:00-9:00 p.m. ET) (TV-PG, LV) (HDTV) GRODD RETURNS – Feeling overwhelmed with all the changes since Crisis, Barry (Grant Gustin) conducts an experiment that goes awry and puts him directly in Gorilla Grodd's (voiced by David Sobolov) path. Expecting the worst, Barry is surprised when Grodd asks for his help. Unfortunately for both The Flash and Grodd, things get worse when another villain appears – Solovar (voiced by Keith David). Meanwhile, Iris (Candice Patton) works with Eva (guest star Efrat Dor) to escape the Mirrorverse. Stefan Pleszczynski directed the episode written by Kristen Kim & Joshua V. Gilbert (#613). Link: https://slatestarcodex.com/2019/11/06/building-intuitions-on-non-empirical-arguments-in-science/ Aeon: Post-Empirical Science Is An Oxymoron And It is Dangerous: There is no agreed criterion to distinguish science from pseudoscience, or just plain ordinary bullshit, opening the door to all manner of metaphysics masquerading as science. This is ‘post-empirical’ science, where truth no longer matters, and it is potentially very dangerous. It’s not difficult to find recent examples. On 8 June 2019, the front cover of New Scientist magazine boldly declared that we’re ‘Inside the Mirrorverse’. Its editors bid us ‘Welcome to the parallel reality that’s hiding in plain sight’. […] [Some physicists] claim that neutrons [are] flitting between parallel universes. They admit that the chances of proving this are ‘low’, or even ‘zero’, but it doesn’t really matter. When it comes to grabbing attention, inviting that all-important click, or purchase, speculative metaphysics wins hands down. These theories are based on the notion that our Universe is not unique, that there exists a large number of other universes that somehow sit alongside or parallel to our own. For example, in the so-called Many-Worlds interpretation of quantum mechanics, there are universes containing our parallel selves, identical to us but for their different experiences of quantum physics. These theories are attractive to some few theoretical physicists and philosophers, but there is absolutely no empirical evidence for them. And, as it seems we can’t ever experience these other universes, there will never be any evidence for them. As Broussard explained, these theories are sufficiently slippery to duck any kind of challenge that experimentalists might try to throw at them, and there’s always someone happy to keep the idea alive. Is this really science? The answer depends on what you think society needs from science. In our post-truth age of casual lies, fake news and alternative facts, society is under extraordinary pressure from those pushing potentially dangerous antiscientific propaganda – ranging from climate-change denial to the anti-vaxxer movement to homeopathic medicines. I, for one, prefer a science that is rational and based on evidence, a science that is concerned with theories and empirical facts, a science that promotes the search for truth, no matter how transient or contingent. I prefer a science that does not readily admit theories so vague and slippery that empirical tests are either impossible or they mean absolutely nothing at all. As always, a single quote doesn’t do the argument justice, so go read the article. But I think this captures the basic argument: multiverse theories are bad, because they’re untestable, and untestable science is pseudoscience. Many great people, both philosophers of science and practicing scientists, have already discussed the problems with this point of view. But none of them lay out their argument in quite the way that makes the most sense to me. I want to do that here, without claiming any originality or special expertise in the subject, to see if it helps convince anyone else. II. Consider a classic example: modern paleontology does a good job at predicting dinosaur fossils. But the creationist explanation – Satan buried fake dinosaur fossils to mislead us – also predicts the same fossils (we assume Satan is good at disguising his existence, so that the lack of other strong evidence for Satan doesn’t contradict the theory). What principles help us realize that the Satan hypothesis is obviously stupid and the usual paleontological one more plausible? One bad response: paleontology can better predict characteristics of dinosaur fossils, using arguments like “since plesiosaurs are aquatic, they will be found in areas that were underwater during the Mesozoic, but since tyrannosaurs are terrestrial, they will be found in areas that were on land”, and this makes it better than the Satan hypothesis, which can only retrodict these characteristics. But this isn’t quite true: since Satan is trying to fool us into believing the modern paleontology paradigm, he’ll hide the fossils in ways that conform to its predictions, so we will predict plesiosaur fossils will only be found at sea – otherwise the gig would be up! A second bad response: “The hypothesis that all our findings were planted to deceive us bleeds into conspiracy theories and touches on the problem of skepticism. These things are inherently outside the realm of science.” But archaeological findings are very often deliberate hoaxes planted to deceive archaeologists, and in practice archaeologists consider and test that hypothesis the same way they consider and test every other hypothesis. Rule this out by fiat and we have to accept Piltdown Man, or at least claim that the people arguing against the veracity of Piltdown Man were doing something other than Science. A third bad response: “Satan is supernatural and science is not allowed to consider supernatural explanations.” Fine then, replace Satan with an alien. I think this is a stupid distinction – if demons really did interfere in earthly affairs, then we could investigate their actions using the same methods we use to investigate every other process. But this would take a long time to argue well, so for now let’s just stick with the alien. A fourth bad response: “There is no empirical test that distinguishes the Satan hypothesis from the paleontology hypothesis, therefore the Satan hypothesis is inherently unfalsifiable and therefore pseudoscientific.” But this can’t be right. After all, there’s no empirical test that distinguishes the paleontology hypothesis from the Satan hypothesis! If we call one of them pseudoscience based on their inseparability, we have to call the other one pseudoscience too! A naive Popperian (which maybe nobody really is) would have to stop here, and say that we predict dinosaur fossils will have such-and-such characteristics, but that questions like that process that drives this pattern – a long-dead ecosystem of actual dinosaurs, or the Devil planting dinosaur bones to deceive us – is a mystical question beyond the ability of Science to even conceivably solve. I think the correct response is to say that both theories explain the data, and one cannot empirically test which theory is true, but the paleontology theory is more elegant (I am tempted to say “simpler”, but that might imply I have a rigorous mathematical definition of the form of simplicity involved, which I don’t). It requires fewer other weird things to be true. It involves fewer other hidden variables. It transforms our worldview less. It gets a cleaner shave with Occam’s Razor. This elegance is so important to us that it explains our vast preference for the first theory over the second. A long tradition of philosophers of science have already written eloquently about this, summed up by Sean Carroll here: What makes an explanation “the best.” Thomas Kuhn ,after his influential book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions led many people to think of him as a relativist when it came to scientific claims, attempted to correct this misimpression by offering a list of criteria that scientists use in practice to judge one theory better than another one: accuracy, consistency, broad scope, simplicity, and fruitfulness. “Accuracy” (fitting the data) is one of these criteria, but by no means the sole one. Any working scientist can think of cases where each of these concepts has been invoked in favor of one theory or another. But there is no unambiguous algorithm according to which we can feed in these criteria, a list of theories, and a set of data, and expect the best theory to pop out. The way in which we judge scientific theories is inescapably reflective, messy, and human. That’s the reality of how science is actually done; it’s a matter of judgment, not of drawing bright lines between truth and falsity or science and non-science. Fortunately, in typical cases the accumulation of evidence eventually leaves only one viable theory in the eyes of most reasonable observers. The dinosaur hypothesis and the Satan hypothesis both fit the data, but the dinosaur hypothesis wins hands-down on simplicity. As Carroll predicts, most reasonable observers are able to converge on the same solution here, despite the philosophical complexity.

- Chris Wo kommen wir her? Been there, done that. Das alles ficht die Nerdizisten aber nicht an auch diese 2 Folgen bis in Details zu besprechen. Wir wünschen Euch viel Spaß beim Hören.

"The Wolf Inside" Analysis"Star Trek Discovery" finally commits to revealing some long-awaiting plot twists in "The Wolf Inside," but unfortunately the Mirror Universe swallows co-host Darren Moser. However, Daniel and Phillip welcome Andi VanderKolk (@firsttimetrek) to help discuss Lt. Ash Tyler's tendency to sweat and look nauseous, when it's appropriate to tell someone who their Mirror version counterpart is, and Captain Lorca's true identity. Join this Mirrorverse trio, and then let us know what you thought of this episode. What do you think the future holds for the Burhnam-Tyler romance? Were you surprised by the Empereor's arrival?
