Up first Cal & Liam review "Follow That Space Cab" which features a Paul Dini penned story with Superman, Lobo, Mr. Mind and Space Cabbie! Hear a break down of the Sci-Fi inspired soundtrack, character models that seem to be inspired by the DC Films of the time, and a stunted episode run-time that seems to inspire the series' name. The hosts then tackle "Galaxy Jest" which features the Clown Prince of Crime being abducted by a certain alien emperor for the purpose of entertaining his troopers all the while Batman, Superman, The Flash and Wonder Woman are searching Gotham for a ticking timebomb of Joker gas set to detonate at midnight! A full discussion of several DCAU voice cast veterans in familiar roles for this show, an homage to The Killing Joke, and Superman getting the last laugh. Byrne A graduate of Boston College with a double major in finance and theatre and an M.F.A. in Acting from the prestigious Theatre School at DePaul University, actor P.J. Byrne has compiled a long list of impressive film and television credits. Byrne stars alongside Dwayne Johnson to save the world from global catastrophe in the action film Rampage loosely based on the video game of the same name. He can also be seen in 15:17 Train to Paris which marks the second time Byrne has worked with Oscar Award winning director Clint Eastwood. Byrne's latest movie is Green Book for director and writer Peter Farrelly. Green Book tells the story of a working-class Italian-American bouncer who becomes the driver for an African-American classical pianist on a tour of venues through the 1960s American South and stars Viggo Mortensen and Mahershala Ali. In 2014, Byrne starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street for director Martin Scorsese and proceed to team up again with the famed director in 2016 on Vinyl for HBO. Warner Bros. Television confirms that "Reign will be the big bad of Season 3, as part of an exciting interpretation of the infamous World Killer storyline from the pages of the DC Comics." Introduced in 2012, Reign is a Worldkiller and her origin is a mystery even to her. All she knows about herself is her name, that she is a Worldkiller, and that Krypton and Earth hold the answers for her questions about her origin. Ashe's character is described by the network as a Muslim-American woman from the year 2030 who lives in a world of contradictions: “Technology has brought about incredible change in her future — too bad human nature hasn't kept pace. Fear, prejudice and a lack of care for the planet have forced Zari to become a “'grey hat hacktivist.' A computer nerd with a wry, combative attitude. A woman living a double life who doesn't realize that she has secret, latent powers derived from an ancient, mystical source.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/legends-of-tomorrow-casts-isis/ NEXT EPISODE Episode: “Raiders of the Lost Art” [Season 2 Episode 9] Air Date: Tuesday, January 24, 2017 Summary: Damien Dahrk and Malcolm Merlyn create a big aberration as they attempt to capture Rip in 1967. What better way to inaugurate a podcast about women in voiceover than with Wonder Woman herself? Rachel's role as Wonder Woman on Justice League Action is her first EVER in an animated series and, even better, it marks the fulfillment of a lifelong dream: to voice a powerful childhood heroine. Rachel's been a voice actor for 10 years, and is also a passionate teacher of acting technique and voiceover technique. She is a former CrossFit trainer, and yoga and weightlifting instructor. She understands well the importance of life-long learning and is herself a humble student, always pursuing and accentuating the positive. In the background, you can hear a bit of the marvelous rain we had here in California this past winter, which makes for a kind of cozy chat. I'm loving Rachel Kimsey. You're gonna love her, too.
Podcast: Justice League Action upon The Transconsciousness Articulator This time we revisit the Joe Kelly/ChrisCross issues of JLA #s 83 (September, 2003) and 90 (January, 2004) covering fantasy stories involving the World's Finest Trinity versus George Bush President Lex Luthor, as well as Diana and Bruce considering the possibility of a romantic relationship. It's supposed to be a Martian device facilitating this, but it sure sounds like more of a Paradise Island or Kryptonian sort of thing. Then, Frank dishes on the first ten episodes of the new Cartoon Network show Justice League Action. Finally, your comments are addressed, plus we run promos for Justice League Universe Podcast, The All-Star Comics Review Podcast, and the latest podcast about Wonder Woman, Lasso of Truth (not to be confused with the long running non-Amazonian podcast of nearly the same name.) We don't have a Magic Sphere, so if you want to communicate with us about the podcast... Tweet host Diabolu Frank directly, or commune with @rolledspine as a group. He also teased Dig's friendship with Dinah Drake, the new Black Canary, as well as the looming threat of General Walker and Team Arrow's visit to Russia. About his role in the team, he said, “He's a serviceman. He's a soldier. He's the guy who lays on a grenade. So that's what he immediately gets to. He gets to helping Dinah. He gets back to helping the team. He sees that Felicity is compromised, and he calls her on it immediately. Before he gets back out on the field — which he does! — we'll see him kind of getting back to service, of being a help, which is in the best possible way I could say that… but the moral help, I should say. The moral compass. And the team needs it. When he comes back, the team needs it. Dinah needs it, and Felicity particularly needs it.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/arrow-david-ramsey-spartan-black-canary-dinah-drake-general-walker-russia-felicity-bratva-prometheus-interview/ GENERAL DC TV NEWS The JSA Returns In This Synopsis For LEGENDS OF TOMORROW Season 2 Episode 12: "Camelot/3000" (Date: 03 Feb 2017) ALL FOR ONE — The Legends continue their quest to hunt down the Spear of Destiny before the pieces fall into the hands of the Legion of Doom. The Hercules star talked to ET's Ashley Crossan at the Directors Guild of America Awards on Saturday, where he dished on what fans can expect from his role on the CW show. "I'm heading up to Vancouver, and I'll be doing a three-show arc, and Teri Hatcher's playing my wife. I'm from another planet that's an arch-rival planet of Krypton," he said. "Which is now of course destroyed." And, no, your ears don't deceive you — that's Mark Hamill of “Star Wars” and “Batman: The Animated Series” fame providing the sweet, weedy vocals for the marshland's defender. The clip, from the show's upcoming “Zombie King” episode, shows Solomon Grundy getting ready to march on a nearby city, having raised an army of the undead. “Zombie King” airs on Cartoon Network on Saturday, February 4 at 7:30 AM. “Justice League Action” is a production of Warner Bros. Animation and DC Entertainment starring Kevin Conroy, Rachel Kimsey and Jason J. Lewis. Variety reports Greg Berlanti's “Black Lightning” just received an official pilot order from the network. According to the report, The CW will stagger their superhero programming throughout the year to avoid scheduling five straight nights of supehero series. “I don't think so,” Berlanti said at the time. “If we're lucky enough that that exists, that that show exists, I don't think those worlds will cross over.” However, seeing as the pilot has just shifted from Fox to The CW, it's hard to rule anything out. The set photos depict not only Criss but also Keiynan Lonsdale as Kid Flash, David Harewood as Martian Manhunter and Carlos Valdes as Vibe. Titled “Duet,” the crossover will kick off March 20 with a lead-in on “Supergirl,” similar to how the setup for last fall's “Invasion!” was handled, and then continue on the March 21 episode of “The Flash.” Link:http://www.cbr.com/flash-supergirl-music-meister-set-photos/ To Celebrate The Release Of THE LEGO BATMAN MOVIE, DC TV Shows Get A LEGO Makeover (Date: 06 Feb 2017) The LEGO Batman Movie is receiving rave reviews, and it appears as if Warner Bros. is going all out this week to give it one final promotional push. That involves giving a LEGO makeover to many of their hit TV shows, and below you'll find Minifigure versions of characters from Arrow, The Flash, Gotham, and Supergirl. Disappointingly, the eclectic cast of Legends of Tomorrow hasn't been included here. Their meeting isn't so much epic as…well, confusing. That's because the gang learns that while Batman may be an unparalleled detective, he's apparently not the world's greatest speller. At 12 seconds into the promo below, you catch a glimpse of what appears to be Lex Luthor's iconic green and purple warsuit. LENA IS ARRESTED – After Metallo (guest star Frederick Schmidt) breaks out of prison and frees Lillian Luthor (guest star Brenda Strong), the police blame Lena (guest star Katie McGrath) for his escape and arrest her. Despite overwhelming evidence, Kara (Melissa Benoist) refuses to believe her friend is guilty and fights to clear Lena's name. Flashbacks reveal how Lena came to be a Luthor. Meanwhile, Alex (Chyler Leigh) and Maggie (Floriana Lima) celebrate their first Valentine's Day together. Tawnia McKiernan directed the episode written by Robert Rovner and Cindy Lichtman. (#212). Original airdate 2/13/17. However, we didn't know that she would return in another future episode (or perhaps just stick around after the Grodd episode) and confront the god of speed. It also reunites Mark Hamill as The Joker with Kevin Conroy as Batman. The pair have been voicing the foils since Batman: The Animated Series twenty-five years ago, across multiple animated series, films, and video game projects Link:http://comicbook.com/2017/02/09/mark-hamill-returns-as-the-joker-in-justice-league-action-clip/ DC's Legends Of Tomorrow Changes Season 2 Finale Date (Date: 09 Feb 2017) The second season finale was initially expected to air on Tuesday, March 28th, following an episode of The Flash. But thanks to some reworking of The CW's schedule, the finale episode will air the following Tuesday, April 4th. The most interesting thing about this is that Legends will air in The Flash's timeslot on April 4th, and will be followed by the third season premiere of iZombie. They call it Versus, where they pit one character against the other. But instead of something like Super Hero Beatdown where we see the actual fight, this is more giving the histories and strengths of the characters and letting the fans decide. For their first episode they've decided to pit the Emerald Archer versus the Scarlet Speedster. This indicates that Diamond expect a certain amount of returnability, but not that much. Well, it seems that DC Comics seems to have overdone it this time. They made the first six issues of all the DC Rebirth twice-monthly launch comics returnable, more than ever before. Ostensibly to allow retailers to find a ceiling limit on sales to customers, to not have to order conservatively, and to be confident in ordering big. Which has allowed certain titles that had slipped away in recent years, specifically Superman and Flash, to find an appreciative audience. However, there is a cost for that kind of thing. And while sales of DC Comics are also up, so is the returnability, at record high levels, and something DC and Diamond didn't anticipate. Which is why those pallet photos are meant to be quite a revelation. Could this be why the Diamond 2016 end-of-year statistics have been so delayed?
