Seth and Sean discuss the Texans relevant parts of the FOX Top 100 Free Agents, NBC spending a bunch on charters to make sure Mike Tirico made it to Milan for the Olympics right after the Super Bowl, and Mike MacDonald's comment that the SB was like a home game for Seattle.
The Seattle Seahawks are Super Bowl champions after a COMPLETE defensive domination of the New England Patriots. Peter Klein breaks down every angle of the big game.SEAHAWKS DEFENSE WAS HISTORIC: One of the best defensive performances you'll ever see. Had Drake Maye seeing ghosts—even when there wasn't pressure coming, he felt like he was under it. Completely shut down the run (Stevenson and Henderson getting nothing until garbage time). Mixed things up brilliantly—didn't go Eagles 2024 with zero blitzes, but still getting there with four rushers regularly. That Witherspoon blitz was LETHAL.WILL CAMPBELL WAS A DISASTER: Pretty sure I heard him say on draft night "I'd die for Drake Maye"—but my memory must be off, because clearly he said "I'm going to get Drake Maye killed." Completely dominated all game and all playoffs. So now what? Not a great OT free agent class, five OTs with first-round grades on ESPN's board but no clear solution. He just has to get better.PATRIOTS PLAY CALLING FAILED MAYE: Everyone saw this was a problem all playoffs and all season when tested. How was Plan A "run the offense as normal" and Plan B "hope Plan A works?" Zero creativity, zero movement off his spot, zero threat of a run. When breaking down this game, the one area where NE could give Seattle problems was Maye extending plays with his legs. But they didn't even create the THREAT of a rollout, so Seattle's defense locked in on a statue. They did NOTHING to slow this pass rush.PATRIOTS COACHING HAD A TOUGH DAY:Not going for two (could've made it an 11-point game) was a mistakeDidn't help Maye with creativityDidn't go for it on 4th downAll understandable given how dominant Seattle was—even on 4th and 2 you probably weren't getting itThey were hoping old Sam Darnold would show up and give them life. He never did.MAYE DIDN'T HELP HIMSELF: He could have rolled out and run on his own—he had no leash. He looked overwhelmed. You could see him looking behind him constantly, aware of the rush. His first read seemed to be his left tackle, THEN his progressions. And when he WASN'T under pressure, he missed throws. You can understand being off with everything he was dealing with, but they needed him to be better.BACK TO SEATTLE: Kenneth Walker III was ELECTRIC. Said going in that if he gets going there's no stopping this team—he was fantastic. Patient, explosive, effective all game. That O-line dominated. Love to see him get his moment, especially with Charbonnet injured.Darnold was solid—avoided the back-breaking turnover that could've given NE life. Game managed perfectly, which is exactly what the situation called for. A couple throws just missing from having a monster game. Christian Gonzalez saved a couple of bomb TDs—was the Patriots' best player all game.Kupp was exactly what they needed—calming everything down. With NE taking JSN away, Kupp stepped up with important catches to keep drives moving.OTHER SUPER BOWL NOTES:Bad Bunny halftime show: Didn't know any songs, didn't understand any of it—but SO well produced and just a genuinely fun vibeBroadcast crew CRUSHED IT: Collinsworth was on top of his game and Tirico showed why he's one of the best⏱️ Full Super Bowl breakdown
Everyone called Super Bowl 60 boring, but Evan and Tiki explain why watching the Patriots get embarrassed by the Seahawks was actually a thrill ride. The guys break down the game, including Drake Maye's playoff struggles, the dominance of Kenneth Walker, and the irony of Sam Darnold getting a ring. Later, the show goes off the rails regarding a broadcast moment that enraged Jets fans: Mike Tirico calling Adam Sandler a Patriots fan "as per usual." They debate who is more at fault Tirico for the lazy research, or Sandler for wearing a hat with the Patriots logo on it.
A random Super Bowl celebrity shoutout turned into an all out Jets fan meltdown. Evan and Tiki react to Mike Tirico calling Adam Sandler “a Patriots fan as per usual” and why that one line put a dark cloud over the rest of the night for a lot of Jets fans. Was it a simple camera angle misunderstanding because Sandler was wearing a Super Bowl hat with both logos? Or is the real crime Tirico confidently saying “as per usual” like it is fact? The guys debate what is more egregious: Tirico mislabeling Sandler's fandom on national TV, or Sandler even putting a Patriots logo on his head in any context.

Noah Eagle has rapidly ascended to a position as one of America's best play-by-play broadcasters. Eagle, 28, has broadcasted from the Olympics, called a Super Bowl for Nickelodeon, served as the play-by-play voice of the Los Angeles Clippers and Brooklyn Nets and calls Big Ten Football for NBC Sports. Eagle, a 2019 graduate of Syracuse University is about to step into one of the biggest gigs of his career as a primary play-by-play voice for the NBA on NBC. Eagle and Brent Axe discussed the task of mixing nostalgia (we all remember that NBC 'Roundball Rock' theme song!) with the current bells and whistles available in modern broadcasting. Axe and Eagle also discuss what role Carmelo Anthony will play on NBC's NBA coverage, the lessons he took from Mike Tirico that he'll now get to employ along with Tirico on NBC, if calling Big 10 college football still feels like college sports in the NIL/transfer portal era and some 2025-26 NBA storylines. We announced our Kickoff To Summer at D'Jais in Belmar with a Chris Lane concert. Tonight is game one of Knicks/Celtics, and a caller predicted Villanova grit. They took more excited calls from Knicks fans and wondered where Al would take them to dinner. Boomer playfully called Pritchard a "sonofabitch" in a positive way. Jerry's update included Mike Tirico leaving the Kentucky Derby coverage due to a nut allergy, the Yankees losing another series to the Rays, Cody Bellinger's 200th HR, the Mets' doubleheader loss in St. Louis, SNL's jab at Bill Belichick and Jordon Hudson, and Kenny Albert's call of the Jets' double-OT win against the Blues. The hour ended with calls from Knicks fans, one questioning why the Knicks aren't being given a chance.

On this Olympic-themed episode of the "'Cuse Conversations" podcast, Tirico talks about getting ready for the games, his sleep schedule while in Paris (it's rough), his commitment to helping our young broadcast students and, as a first-generation student who met and married his wife here, his love for Syracuse University.

MLB – Major League Baseball Yesterday New York Yankees 4, Detroit Tigers 2 Chicago White Sox at Cleveland Guardians, PPD Tampa Bay Rays 6, Chicago Cubs 5 Yankees 4, Tigers 2 – Cole gets career-low 5 outs, pen leads Yanks over Tigers 4-2 Gerrit Cole lasted a career-low 1 2/3 innings, and Clarke Schmidt combined with four relievers to pitch three-hit shutout ball and lead the New York Yankees over the Detroit Tigers 4-2 in a series opener. Cole matched his career high of five walks and allowed two runs and one hit, throwing just 37 of 68 pitches for strikes. Starting the third season of a $324 million, nine-year contract, the 31-year-old right-hander has a 6.35 ERA in three starts and has pitched into the sixth inning just once. Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera singled off Cole leading off the second, his 2,996th hit. White Sox at Guardians, PPD – White Sox, Guardians postponed again, doubleheader Wednesday For the second straight day, the Chicago White Sox and Cleveland Guardians have been postponed by inclement weather and unplayable conditions. The game will be made up as part of a traditional doubleheader Wednesday, starting at 2:10 p.m. Monday’s postponement will be played as part of a doubleheader on July 12. Rays 6, Cubs 5 – Franco homers in Wrigley debut, Rays beat Cubs 6-5 Wander Franco hit his first homer of the season, a two-run drive to left-center in the third inning, and the Tampa Bay Rays held on to beat the Chicago Cubs 6-5.
