High performers are exceptional at supporting others. They are often much less exceptional at being supported themselves. In this episode, Dr Jo Braid unpacks why professional isolation is so common in healthcare — and what to actually do about it. You'll hear: Why medical culture trains us to see help-seeking as weakness - The neuroscience of social connection and what chronic isolation does to your decision-making - The difference between a mentor, a coach, and a peer — and why you need all three - The three-column support audit tool - The debrief walk and why movement + connection is a different thing to either alone Research referenced: - Dr Matthew Lieberman (UCLA) — the social brain and reward pathways - Dr Amy Edmondson (Harvard) — psychological safety and team performance - JAMA research — one trusted person and burnout outcomes in physicians Action step this week: Do the support audit. You've been told that high performance means giving everything you've got. But what if that's exactly what's burning you out? In this episode — part two of the four-part series The High Performer's Paradox — Dr Jo Braid unpacks the 80% rule: the counterintuitive idea that deliberately leaving something in the tank isn't a sign of weakness or laziness. It's one of the most strategic things a high performer can do.Drawing on sports science, neuroscience, and real-world clinical examples, Jo explores why chronically running at full capacity quietly destroys the very cognitive resources that make you exceptional at your job — and what to do instead.Whether you're in the emergency department, the boardroom, or building your own business, this episode will change how you think about capacity, reserve, and what sustainable high performance actually looks like. In This Episode: The Japanese concept of hara hachi bu — and why a 2,500-year-old eating principle has everything to do with burnout recoveryWhy operating at "100%" is often not 100% at all — and the patient safety implications that followThe neuroscience behind why cognitive decline under chronic overload is gradual, insidious, and easy to missThe Yerkes-Dodson performance curve — what it tells us about effort, output, and the ceiling we refuse to acknowledgeHow elite athletes use the 80/20 training split — and how it directly applies to your professional lifePractical tools across all four pillars: Sleep, Support, Mindset, and Movement Thanks to MIGA for sponsoring this episode: www.miga.com.au Connect with Dr Jo: Instagram / Facebook: @TheBurnoutRecoveryDoctorLinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/drjobraidNewsletter: The Sunday Long Game — weekly evidence-based strategies for burnout recovery → drjobraid.com/subscribeFree 25-minute coaching consultation → drjobraid.com/coachingSee omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.
Trump says there is a new Iran deal. But is it a peace deal, or a deal to start working on a deal? Nate and Chuck break down Trump's Iran MOU, the Strait of Hormuz announcement, oil price spin, JD Vance's defense of the agreement, and why some MAGA voices are suddenly walking a very awkward tightrope. They also dig into Mark Levin's argument about Congress, treaties, and war powers. If Congress must review foreign agreements, why does Congress somehow not matter when the bombs start flying? MOU means memorandum of understanding. JCPOA refers to the Obama-era Iran nuclear agreement. Braňo Závodský sa rozprával s predsedníčkou strany Za ľudí, poslankyňou parlamentu a exministerkou investícií Veronikou Remišovou a tajomníkom ministerstva investícii, regionálneho rozvoja a informatizácie Martinom Katriakom.

Vládna koalícia zatiaľ ustála spor Andreja Danka a Roberta Fica o stoličku ministra Tarabu. Looking for a way to protect your principal, skip the fees, and simply live off the interest? In this episode, Stan breaks down "peel and play" annuities and shows how multi-year guarantee annuities (MIGAs) offer simple, contractual returns without the complexity or risk of market-based products. In this episode, The Annuity Man discussed: Peel and play annuities concept and misconceptions How multi-year guarantee annuities (MIGAs) work Tax deferral advantages vs. CDs Building and managing a MIGA ladder strategy MIGAs for risk management and legacy planning Key Takeaways: Not all annuities are designed for lifetime income; some are built specifically for principal protection and simple interest withdrawal. Multi-year guarantee annuities function similarly to CDs but are issued by life insurance companies and offer guaranteed, contractual yields. Using MIGAs in non-qualified accounts allows interest to grow tax deferred and be rolled from contract to contract, effectively pushing the tax bill into the future. A laddered MIGA strategy can provide steady, predictable interest while keeping the original principal intact and available for future decisions. When the goal is "don't lose money" and "keep it simple," guaranteed products like MIGAs may be more aligned than complex, hypothetical, or bonus-driven indexed annuities. "Warren Buffett had two rules. Rule number one: never lose money. Rule number two, never forget rule number one, he would love peel and play annuities." — Stan The Annuity Man Connect with The Annuity Man: Website: http://theannuityman.com/ Email: Stan@TheAnnuityMan.com Book: Owner's Manuals: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/how-do-annuities-work YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCCXKKxvVslbeGAlEc5sra2g Get a Quote Today: https://www.stantheannuityman.com/annuity-calculator!

President Trump is rolling now! Venezuela freed from the Communist Maduro with not a single American loss of life. Mexico set on its way to liberation from the China-run fentanyl cartels by just pushing aside La Presidenta Sheinbaum. In just 7 days, the entire Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) air force vaporized. Their entire Navy (32 ships) sent to the bottom, with a goodly percentage of their entire Navy of 10,000 personnel (who were dumb enough to be on board those ships). Both the entirety of the mullahs’ first tier of government becoming dead, followed a few days later by the entirety of the fanatics dumb enough to get dragged into the second tier. We await to see who steps up for the third tier. In 30 minutes the Trump-led U.S. military obliterated the one Iranian antique aircraft carrier, modified for $300 million last year by the mullahs to be a “drone carrier”. Today, March 6, 2026, President Trump used the term MIGA, Make Iran Great Again, to inspire the Persian people to take back their formerly-great country.
The People Pushing War With Iran Believe the World Is EndingSo, this morning President Trump posted to social media that there “will be no deal with Iran except UNCONDITIONAL SURRENDER! After that, and the selection of a GREAT & ACCEPTABLE Leader(s), we, and many of our wonderful and very brave allies and partners, will work tirelessly to bring Iran back from the brink of destruction.” He signed off with “MIGA!,” for “make Iran great again.”So the dimensions of this conflict have certainly expanded, and now involves over 17 different countries and far more complexity than the Invasion of Iraq - “We are in it Now” says senator Elisa Slotkin, former CIA case officer, when questioned today about approving additional defense funding to extend military operations against Iran for another Hundred Days. All while Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar, and Kuwait are considering canceling or reviewing contracts and investment commitments with the U.S. due to mounting economic strain and insecurity caused by the ongoing war with Iran. This potential move aims to pressure the Trump administration to halt the conflict, as Gulf officials express frustration over not being warned about attacks and feeling unprotected.Trump has gutted the state department, many strategic state department postings in region remain unoccupied, USAID, which would usually be working on shaping a post conflict enviroment is not longer really a thing and US bases and Israeli cities have been getting hit. And despite the media blackout a ton of damage is being done to US assets, bases, and the war is not going well. But that's okay because a lot of evangelical extremists in the WH are actually not trying to live in a better world or fix the environment, or improve your material conditions, because they believe they are living in a time of revelatory prophecy and we are nearing the end of human history anyways.
Episode 100: Miguel Gandelman. This man is the Musical Director behind Bad Bunny's Super Bowl Halftime Show, one of the biggest and most complex live television performances in the world. Miguel Gandelman aka "Miga" is a Berklee graduate and longtime force in live TV and touring. He has worked with some of the biggest artists on the planet including Christina Aguilera, Stevie Wonder, Usher, Shakira, Lady Gaga, Janet Jackson, Jonat Brothers, Beyoncé, Rihanna, Babyface, John Mayer, Aretha Franklin, served as Music Director for The Masked Singer, and was a member of The Tonight Show Band with Rickey Minor. In this episode, he breaks down how the Super Bowl Halftime Show was built from the ground up in just one month. From getting the call to stepping onto the biggest stage in entertainment, we talk about how you prepare a 15 minute performance seen by over 100 million people. What goes into building a show at that level? What does music direction actually mean on a production of this scale? We discuss arranging for stadiums, working with an artist who had never used a musical director before, leading world class musicians, handling live TV pressure, and translating an artist's vision into a global moment. We also dive into his journey from growing up in a musical family in Brazil to becoming one of the most trusted Musical Directors in the industry, and the mindset required to operate at the highest level of live performance. If you have ever wondered how massive live shows and television actually come together, this conversation is a masterclass. Hope you enjoy my conversation with the great saxophonist, programmer, musical director, and human, Miga. What drove Trump to proceed this time, after stopping short twice in the past year? What can we learn from the way the Trump administration has proceeded? And how far will Trump let things go?“Bibi's Big Adventure.” Regime change in Iran is something Israel and the Arab Gulf states have advocated for frequently in the past. Today's episode cuts straight through the noise to examine allegations of deep-rooted corruption in Colorado's judiciary and beyond, centered on claims raised by Christopher Gregory and lawsuits involving figures like David Beller. We explore how power operating behind closed doors has led to real consequences for people who didn't deserve it, while trust in institutions continues to erode. This isn't about hopium or headlines; it's about confronting uncomfortable questions around accountability, immunity, and who actually represents the people.Joining the show is Ann Vandersteel, bringing firsthand insight into the pressure points shaping the national conversation from the appetite (or lack thereof) for confronting corruption, to the complex web of relationships in politics, media, and influence networks. We unpack testimony, whistleblower claims, and the broader geopolitical narratives being invoked from Venezuela and Serbia to the World Economic Forum while separating verifiable facts from speculation and fear-driven rhetoric. The goal: clarity over chaos. We also take a hard look at President Trump's inner circle and the concern that some around him may be working against his stated agenda, modern-day Brutus and Judas moments that complicate leadership in a hostile environment. From national debt myths to factional splits (MAGA vs. MIGA), from broken systems to the resolve to fight rather than fold, this episode argues that the voice of the American people is the hill worth defending no matter how messy the fight gets.

Are you experiencing burnout, or is something deeper happening when you feel that gut-wrenching sensation of knowing what's right but being unable to do it? In this episode, Dr. Jo Braid draws from her experience chairing an expert panel at the MPLA conference in 2025 to clarify the crucial distinctions between moral distress, moral injury, and burnout. Understanding these differences isn't just academic—it's essential for addressing what you're actually experiencing and finding the right interventions. You'll learn to recognize the physical and emotional signs of each condition, discover why moral distress often gets misdiagnosed as individual weakness when it's actually a system problem, and gain practical tools for responding appropriately to each situation. Join Dr. Braid as she gives you the vocabulary to name your experience and the framework to address it effectively, because when you can accurately identify what you're facing, you can take the right steps toward recovery. Welcome back to another episode of The Burnout Recovery Podcast! I'm absolutely delighted to share my conversation with Anthony Mennillo, Head of Claims and Legal Services at MIGA - Medical Insurance Group Australia, who has spent over two decades walking alongside doctors through their most challenging professional moments. As someone who has witnessed firsthand the devastating impact that medical complaints can have on our wellbeing - from junior doctors questioning if they'll ever be good enough, to seasoned consultants wondering if they've lost their purpose - Anthony brings both professional expertise and deeply personal insights to our conversation. In this heartfelt discussion, Anthony opens up about his own burnout experience following an MS diagnosis, and how it transformed his approach to supporting healthcare professionals. You'll discover the comprehensive support that extends far beyond legal defence, including peer support networks and mental health resources that many doctors don't even know exist. Most importantly, Anthony shares two powerful, evidence-based strategies that can help prevent complaints before they happen: mastering the art of communication with our patients and colleagues, and prioritising our own wellbeing through professional support networks. Whether you're a junior doctor feeling overwhelmed, a consultant navigating team dynamics, or anywhere in between, this conversation offers practical wisdom and gentle reminders that you're not alone in this journey. Join us as we explore how proactive self-care and authentic communication can not only protect our careers but also restore our sense of purpose in medicine. Scagz & Captain discuss the series final of Stranger Things and the latest trending news in the Political world, including the ongoing protests in Iran against the Government and how the Trump Administration is involved. #politics #live #iran #trump #maga #miga #news #podcast #stream #strangerthings
Listen to the article with analysis from the author: President Donald Trump called on Iranians to continue protesting. Rights groups say at least 500 people have been killed since demonstrations began over two weeks ago. “Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING – TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! Save the names of the killers and abusers,” the President wrote on Truth Social Tuesday. “They will pay a big price. I have cancelled all meetings with Iranian Officials until the senseless killing of protesters STOPS. HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!!” Trump and Senator Lindsey Graham have sported hats that say “Make Iran Great Again” (MIGA) in recent weeks. President Trump poses with Lindsey Graham and a “Make Iran Great Again” hat. pic.twitter.com/YqwkSh41Mp — The American Conservative (@amconmag) January 5, 2026 The protests in Iran began in late December. Tehran's crackdown has resulted in hundreds of deaths. Some of the demonstrators have engaged in arson, and dozens of members of the Iranian security forces have been killed. Trump did not provide details on what kind of assistance would be provided to the protests. Reports have said the White House is considering a range of actions in Iran, including strikes on non-military targets in Tehran, restoring internet, cyber attacks, and new sanctions. Additionally, Trump ruled out further talks with Tehran while the protests are ongoing. Israel is also stoking the protests by planting information in news outlets, according to Axios reporter Brack Ravid. Barak Ravid, the former IDF intelligence officer who writes for Axios, had this to say about Iran International a few years ago. https://t.co/Ga14F2EFYm pic.twitter.com/TSnMN01ZKH — Dave DeCamp (@DecampDave) January 13, 2026
What is the USA's role going to be in Iran? Under Trump, it's anyone's guess, because he wants it that way. Just when you think you have him figured out...
When you consider illegal immigration and money laundering are the tentpoles propping up the Democrat party, it makes their resistance to investigations and order much more understandable. We have Paul Mauro from Fox News on to talk Minneapolis, and Jim Carafano to explain what Trump means by "MIGA."
Feeling flat and unmotivated after what should have been a restorative break? You're not alone. In this episode, Dr. Jo explores the science behind post-holiday blues, including the role of dopamine crashes and why healthcare workers are particularly susceptible to this phenomenon. She shares practical, evidence-based strategies for gradual re-entry, maintaining holiday elements in daily routine, and resetting your dopamine baseline. Learn why these feelings are a normal neurobiological response and discover actionable steps to extend the benefits of your time off while being compassionate with yourself during the transition back to work. "Iranian Patriots, KEEP PROTESTING - TAKE OVER YOUR INSTITUTIONS!!! ... HELP IS ON ITS WAY. MIGA!!!"It was a characteristically Trumpian post from the American president on Truth Social (where else?) today which led to more fevered speculation that the US might be about to step in to topple the Iranian regime.Protests across Iran are into their third week, and evidence of the slaughter of Iranian civilians is becoming clearer and clearer. One Iranian official told Reuters that some 2,000 protestors and security forces have now died in street clashes. Iranian media more critical of the regime says that police there have killed more than 12,000 demonstrators.Donald Trump has already threatened to step in if the bloodshed doesn't stop - has he now made his mind up? And could America intervene without very messy, and unpredictable, consequences?Jon and Lewis speak to Ali Hamedani, a British-Iranian journalist who is speaking to Iranians inside the country and was himself detained by the security forces in Iran, about the mood of the Iranian people and what happens next. The News Agents is brought to you by HSBC UK - https://www.hsbc.co.uk/

Slovensko nie je len v hlbokom úpadku, my dnes padáme strmhlav do priepasti. Hovorí v Ráno Nahlas šéf NKÚ Ľubomír Andrassy. Tento pád nás bude veľmi bolieť. Nebude však bolieť tých, ktorí tu dlho parazitovali na verejných i EÚ zdrojoch, ale bude to bolieť nás - teda tých, ktorí odtiaľto nemajú kde a ani začo odísť, dodáva predseda Najvyššieho kontrolného úradu. A prečo nám zdravotníctvo ukradli lobisti?Úrad na ochranu oznamovateľov končí, po zániku verejnoprávnej RTVS je scenár už evidentne úplne jasný. Priveľa nezávislosti v tomto štáte môže mať fatálne následky. Môžete byť síce nezávislou inštitúciou v zmysle zákona, no ak sa tejto vládnej moci znepáčite, proste vás vygumujú. A premiér? Minister pôdohospodárstva problém nevidí no a PPAčka - známa aj z kauzy Dobytkár, stále nedisponuje pečiatkou dôveryhodnej inštitúcie. Ráno Nahlas, tentoraz opäť pravidelný rozhovor so šéfom NKÚ Ľubomírom Andrassym. Pekný deň a pokoj v duši praje Braňo Dobšinský.
1. Ekonomika stagnuje a vládna konsolidácia brzdí míňanie domácností 2. Odchody IT odborníkov od Migaľa ohrozujú peniaze z plánu obnovy 3. Ryanair reaguje na konkurenčný Wizz Air novými linkami 4. Plug-in hybridy už dohnali autá na naftu 5. Umelá inteligencia vytvára nových víťazov a porazených
A prečo návrh ministra Tarabu o Envirofonde odmietli obchodné komory a zamestnávateľské a priemyselné zväzy? Chce minister pomôcť Andrejovi Babišovi za naše peniaze upratať znečistený Istrochem? A budú do konca roka v každom našom národnom parku vysoké vlajkové stožiare? Prečo preto musel skončiť šéf parku v Pieninách?Braňo Závodský sa rozprával s ministrom životného prostredia a nominantom Slovenskej národnej strany Tomášom Tarabom.
Naše spolupráce by měla pokračovat, protože společně dokážeme například v Bruselu vyjednat víc,“ doufá slovenský ministr investic, informatiky a regionálního rozvoje Samuel Migaľ.
