It's all, it's not a miracle question, it's not a magical question, but it is to me, it's a magical question that just produces magic and allows me to do all the things I want to do and be successful in it and enjoy those times. But you gotta come with me because there's some imagination to do, some visualization to do, which is great fun, imagining me doing something weird and then learning from it. Have a listen. I ask myself a magical question before I see a client Okay, okay. We're in the longer podcast, and I'm feeling good, I'm feeling really good today. So I wanted to share something with you, which is something quite special, but in order to share it with you, what I'm going to do is I want you to do some m imagination first. I, want you to imagine seeing me. You can see me now, but you can, well, if you're on the video, you can see me now, but I want you to imagine me over there, because I'm just about to see a client. And if you were to see me just before I saw a client, maybe ten minutes before, you would notice me standing there and I'd be like whispering to myself, you'd see my mouth. Mouth would be moving, but it would be like a magical incantation. But it's not, it's not an incantation. It is a magical question. And it's my own personal magical question, because I ask myself this one thing before I see a client, and I'll explain other areas too, where I use it. But the thing is, I ask that question, let it go. And then I see my client, and then you could see me again, if you could imagine this. Imagine seeing me after my client, walking around, patting myself on the back, because I've had such a good time, because it just works now, you might say, al Cloughie, you're weird. Magical incantations, which they aren't. Patting yourself on the back, being happy with yourself. But the thing is, I do this with every client, I do it before every podcast, I do it before every coaching call, I do every webinar, I do every training I do, and I've done it for bloody years. It's really strange to, and if you think about it, this is what I do. I just like to ask myself a question, a special question of what would it be like? What would it be like to do something special and then celebrate with yourself when it happens, because it just does. Just happens, by the way. And I don't know when I created this, if I did create it, I know I use it so many times because I just know it works. Because, you see, what generally happens is, you know, if we've got something to do, we're going to see somebody. We've got maybe a Zoom call, maybe a coaching call, maybe a meeting. Maybe you're just going to meet somebody that you're a little bit nervous about. And what happens is we scare the shit out of ourselves, don't we? Sometimes we make up all those wonderful pictures of all the things that could go wrong, the worst of the worst. And that's all b's, isn't it? It is B's because it's all up here. But we do it for a wonderful reason. Our, unconscious mind says, let's be safe. Let's go through all of the things that may go wrong and more, even the things that could even go wronger. Wronger. And then what happens to that? Well, it's overwhelm, it's fear, it's panic. Sometimes people even put themselves into a panic attack. And we're really good at it. We're really good at seeing, hearing and feeling the worst that could happen. And this is where this question absolutely annihilates that. You see the question. and I'll go through the question with you in a minute, because it's so simple and in simplicity, there is genius. We turn it on its head now you can just have a little think about maybe what is the worst that could happen, but no worse than it could be reality. What is the real worse? You know, I've seen a client, it might not go right. We might not get on. I might not get the result. But I know better than that. I do know better than that, because one thing about this little thing is I, know what I can do. And that's a, that's a great starting point. You've got to know your stuff. You see? You got to know your stuff. If you're going to ask a question, this particular question, you've got to know your stuff, and I know you do. So if you're going to a meeting, you know your stuff. You're going to be talking about you make sure. Just know your stuff again, not scaring yourself to bits, just getting comfortable with what you, what you're going to share, you know, if you're going to meet somebody, just be comfortable in yourself. But, the thing is, it's not how you don't want it to be. And that's, again, even looking at this, at the sort of worst it could happen, that. But how good could it be? Let's flip it really on its head. How good could it be? Because that's what you really want, isn't it? So, if you knew you were going to do something, could you just think of the skills you might need, the things, your intention, what you want to achieve, how you want to be, maybe even how long. in my question, I ask even how long and I'll go through it in a minute. But it's everything that you want to have happen in that particular event, the way you want it to be and the successful outcome. So that's why I say you need to know your stuff, because if you don't know your stuff, you probably won't get the outcome you want anyway because you can't fudge it. You can't fake it till you make fake it till you make it really gets on my. Well, it does, because the whole thing, we've talked about it so many times, fake it till you make it is faking it. And you can't fake it because there's one person you can't fake. Guess who? You. Of course it's you. So you have to know what you're going to do and do what you're going to know, and that's mastery, think mastery. So you're not going to go beyond your level of skills, but remember, whatever you think you are, you're more than that, because we're going to access all your skills with this question. Ask yourself what would it be like to work with a client Am I? Is it enticing you to know what it is yet? Are you curious? You see, you're going to have a specific context. You've got to know how you want to do, how you want to be, behave, connect in that context. So here's the type of question I would ask myself with a client. I'd ask, what would it be like? I always start with, what would it be like? What it'd be like to work with. And I named the client's name to use all my skills, all my hypnosis or my NLP, all and everything I've ever learned, timeline, theory, everything that could be needed will be at, ah, my fingertips and at my lips. My words, to connect, to get rapport and to get the greatest result way better than they could imagine to learn from it. So maybe something new and have that learning available to me whenever I need it. And to do all this within 1 hour 1 minute, and I change the time. I go 1 hour, five minutes, 57 minutes. And the amazing thing is, you see, you let it go. By the way, you might even say the immortal words, this or something better. What happens is you let it go. You see, I see my client, and the amazing thing is I just trust. I, know I've got some skills. I've, now asked my unconscious mind. That's where the question's going. Ask my unconscious mind to do and allow me to access all that I need and even more things I don't even know I know, but I just know I've got them. And what happens is those sessions go absolutely bloody brilliant. I astound myself sometimes. I will listen to the words I'm using and say to myself with an internal voice. Cluffy. That was brilliant. Where did that come from? Or a process will come to mind, one I hadn't thought of, and you go, this is it. Where did that come from? We do it, and the client is one. It gets a wonderful result. And then I, look at the clock, and it's always within minutes of the time I set. How does that happen? I don't know how it happens, by the way. All I know is it bloody happens 99.99% of the time. Sometimes there's that 1%. Or maybe I didn't quite ask the right question. I think I put it down to me, see if I'm doing a live q and a for my son's mind mastery call or mind mastery class, and I'm going to be talking just about a subject. Just before we press play or open the zoom lines, I'll just say to myself, what would it be like to just. To be charismatic, to be able to communicate, to be able to lead and change people's minds with something wonderful, to use all my skills, have them all available to me to learn more, have them available to me whenever I need them in the future, and to do it all within. And, we always do an hour, so I'll do an hour. And guess what? I have a few notes. Don't have a lot, but things come to mind as I'm talking. Things and little stories and little snippets come to mind to make it even, even richer. And I'm saying to myself as I'm talking these little things going, where are all these things coming from? But I do connect. I, do connect. And, I always, and I just remembered one thing I like to put at the end and where I started to, but I remember it now. Anyway, is the words. And enjoy the process. Because the one thing about this is if you're going to do something that you really want to do, you have to enjoy the process. You have to enjoy what you're going to do because it's bloody rubbish. Doing stuff to your best ability and not enjoying it. So always say this or something better and enjoy the process. This just works. Believe me, it just works. So maybe you might need to make some notes. Maybe you need to rewind it. Maybe I'll put some in the show notes. I don't know. We'll have to see. Maybe you'll remind me by email me. I'll say that more clearly, emailing me at feedbackersaldevelopmentunplug, um.com. and I'll send you a little note. And it's always, what will it be like? The magical question, a miracle question. What would it be like to communicate effectively The magical question, a miracle question. It's magical to me because of the results I get. I, know it's not magic, but I feel magical. I, pat myself on the back and these things just bloody work. And how simple is that? Easy steps. How do I want to feel? What skills do I. And I don't even mention the type of skills or the specific skills. I just want to be able to access everything I know with my hypnosis, my NLP, my timeline therapy, my communication skills, the words I use, the rapport. And it just, well, it blows my mind how simple and how powerful this is. And the thing is, sometimes when things with a client end up going quite the way I wanted, somehow just trusting in that I find a way. And sometimes it's even better. Cause I've learned something, but sometimes it stretches me and I have an even better time. Cause I do. Then enjoy the process. So you may think I'm absolutely mad to have this little question. And I have to say, when I first did this, I had it on like a six by three cardinal, all typed out with little dots in for the gaps that I wanted to fill in. And I would literally read it. And I'm reading, I feel some emotion, but I'd read it. And, now I, well, it's some 20 years now, and if something doesn't work, I'd have given it up by then, but it does work. So the. What will it mean? Magical question. No, not what will it mean at all. What would it be like? That's what you're asking your unconscious mind, what would you like to do? Be, have and enjoy the process. If you're going to a meeting, what would it be like? To be able to communicate all that, I need to communicate in such a charismatic way to get my words into such a good order, to be able to communicate so well and do it all succinctly within x amount of minutes and so people really get the gist of it. What would that be like? And for me to enjoy the process. There you go. I didn't have to read that. I just made that up as it goes on. And so can you. So do make some notes, do just jot them down. And even if you think it's silly, try it. Well, don't try it, do it. It's trying, you know, trying is failing or whatever, but do it. Do it for a few times. And you'll notice when you review what's just happened. Bloody hell. Cloughy. It, bloody works. There you go. And if you wanted to, you could share this with everyone because if everybody gets to, to enjoy their times of, you know, because this is sometimes in a stressful situation, for be able to go through stressful situations and really just enjoy those times because that's when you've got in a nice emotional state, you learn more and you share more because people, you'll be that example of how do they do that? And you'll shine. And, that's what I want for you. I want you to, to shoot a lot of tutors in there. I want you to shine. Shine in front of everybody and shine in front of yourself to give yourself, well, to realize the confidence that you have not given. Your confidence, not making you more confidence, but you're accessing the confidence that you have naturally in your abilities, competency. And this is how you're going to really crush it. Knock it out the park. And you start to then enjoy everything. You look forward to things like that. You look forward to the unknown because you're gonna, you set yourself up to succeed through the unknown because you didn't say how you want to be. So please do share that. Share the podcast, do everything you can if you could. It'll be great. And press the subscribe button. That's lovely if you could. And let's just make this a little bigger for everybody, if you would. Thank you so much for your time. I appreciate it so, so much. Tommy Stinson in conversation with David Eastaugh https://www.tommystinson.com/ Stinson's latest venture is Cowboys in the Campfire. A duo with Chip Roberts, their debut album ‘Wronger' is perhaps the most ‘American' album he has ever made, its ten songs riding a giddy trail of twang and grit, melody and (mostly lyrical) mayhem. The very first song, ‘Here We Go Again', sets the tone; Stinson on ukulele, singing about the ardours of creativity, while horns swell and the only hint of percussion is from the tapping of feet by the musicians in the room. Stark and immediate, it is like sitting smack in the middle of a maelstrom.
This week we're honored to be joined by Tommy Stinson, former member of The Replacements, Soul Asylum, Guns N' Roses, and Bash & Pop, to talk about his new album with Chip Roberts, Wronger. We talk about Tommy's songwriting process, writing songs so good they make your butt pucker, creating music in the digital / social media age, Prince and the Minneapolis music scene, his current tour, recent memorable shows, upcoming venues he's looking forward to playing, and much more! Wronger finds Cowboys in the Campfire embracing the sort of stripped down twangy Americana such band name suggests. It's the latest left turn in a career full of them. Tommy Stinson's musical career began in his pre-teen years, courtesy of bass gifted by older brother, Bob. Joined by Paul Westerberg and Chris Mars, The Replacements would ultimately become one the 80s most influential acts. In the years since the band's 2021 dissolution, Stinson has gone on to play with Guns N' Roses and Soul Asylum, while pursuing his own solo ambitions. Hosted on Acast. Tommy Stinson's group Cowboys in the Campfire recently released the album Wronger. He is the former bassist of The Replacements and Guns N' Roses (1998-2014) and has had a solo career and been in Soul Asylum, Perfect and Bash & Pop.
The first Friday of June means we have nothing but new releases on The Ledge, and it’s quite the lineup tonight. There are artists from all over the world, ranging from just a mile or so from my home (Thought Patrol) to Germany (Hamburg Ramones, Berlin Blackouts), with additional stops in Italy, Norway, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and other countries). There’s the return of a ton of veteran artists, including Rancid, Graham Parker, The Aquadolls, and Joan Jett. Most importantly, at least for me, is the brand new project by Tommy Stinson. Over the last few years he’s been touring with his pal Chip Roberts under the Cowboys in the Campfire moniker, and today sees the release of their debut album, Wronger. While a bit quieter than we’re used to from the former Replacements bass player, it’s still quite a record from the hardest working member of the legendary band. Of course, we begin with the latest in the “52 Weeks of Teenage Kicks” series, and this time it is nt a new release. This version is from the French band Nouvelle Vague, an act that was created to remake classic punk and new wave songs in bossa nova versions. Yes, […]

The funniest episode we have ever done, bar none. Once the boys gathered some steam, Steve was out of breath from laughing for most of the episode. James tells hedonistic stories of gluttony and incredible feats of eating and drinking. You have to experience this Wrong & Wronger to believe it!
The boys are back in town--and telling more tales of cursed happenings on the ranch. James held back on a story but predicted a long GOOD tale for next week. And all of this happened after the two co-hosts had another nonsensical argument over the thirty seconds they sparred before hitting "record." All funny, and all WRONGER!
WE roll into a fourth week in a row with another hilarious episode! Much of the episode focuses on sick kids and nefarious both co-hosts have tried to get away with as parents. The Steve talks about the latest critter updates--spoiler alert: it's coyote romance time! All this and more on your favorite podcast, Wrong & Wronger!

The episode you don't want to miss!!! James tells the harrowing tale of his recent surgery--including stories and content not covered in his newsletter. For all the scoop, give a listen to this week's Wrong & Wronger!!
My guest has been on the show once before along with the senator and we refer to him as Templeton, as in form Charlotte's Web. We've been besties since high school where we were both relatively scrawny, neither of us was on any sports teams but we hung out with a couple of the jocks. We took a bunch of the same college classes together and always talked about our own business partnership firm being called “Wrong and Wronger” and then fill in the blank after that… wrong and wronger accounting firm, wrong and wronger legal consultants, wrong and wronger construction company, you get the idea… whatever we did we would kinda screw it up. His idol back in high school was Woody Allen. Not the pervert Woody Allen, but the Woody Allen that brought us Annie Hall, Play It Again Sam, Manhattan, Sleeper, Bananas, Take The Money and Run. Unfortunately today we can't separate Woody Allen from his sickness, but his work in the 60's 70's and 80's alone was incredible and that… for very understandable reasons is why Woody was my friend's idol. Here Woody in an interview from 1971… But what Templeton was always good at, and still is, he's good at recruiting people into some kind of scheme, like in our 20's we played a LOT of softball. He would recruit a couple of ringers and then get us into a D-league where he would say, “guaranteed sweatshirt”, like that was something to covet… a D-league softball champions sweatshirt. So he's always been known to have some sort of scheme going, an angle or something (bite) We've been roommates, At parties and night clubs we were always, always the wallflowers, and I got to be best man at his wedding. His wife has been a teacher for over thirty years in the public school system… no easy feat. She retired on Friday of last week and we talk about what it takes to be teacher, how highly our society values teachers… at least we say we do, it just isn't reflected in their paychecks. We also talk about our equally… well almost equal ineptitude at being handy around the house. Usually he has the good sense to not even try whereas my ego sends me to Lowe's three times in one day and half a day just to complete a task that a normal human would complete in an hour. This time, however, Templeton has me beat and he shares his misfortune. One of the main things Templeton is absolutely beloved for is in the way he butchers the english language. I have several friends that do that including the senator…. But Templeton does it in a magical way that kept him with his business partner for over 30 years. I don't think he quite demonstrates it fully in this conversation, and if he does I don't call him out on it, but his usual response is, “You know what I meant”. As we start our conversation he is somehow under the impression that we are not recording yet and that at some point we are going to “go live”. I don't think any podcast is live, otherwise it would be a webcast wouldn't it? A husband brags about a retiring school teacher and how NOT to change lightbulb on The Modern Moron, and thanks for listening. CLOSE - Congratulations on 34 years of teaching our little one's. Enjoy a great retirement. Before we part ways I want to keep trying to have a little segment called Moron Chaplaincy or maybe I have to set aside whole episodes for that, but I wanted to tell you about one very small, incident that I thought was going to be fairly routine but it wasn't. Maybe that's one of the things I like about Chaplaincy in a hospital, sooner or later you get something unique, as long as your paying attention. So I'm making my rounds a few weeks ago and usually the door to the patients rooms are open so I can knock gently on the door and see if they're up for a visit. If the door is closed I figure one or both of the patients don't want to be disturbed. For some reason, I knocked on a closed door, opened it and walked into a room with one patient in it. The patient was quite literally chained to his bed. With a chain. Not a strap or restraint, but a chain. And sitting with the patient are two Highway patrol, or if you're not in California a State Trooper. One of them might have been a county Sheriff. I've opened the door and stuck my head in and actually am halfway in the room. So I said something to the effect of, “hey, what's up?” One of the officers stands up and turns to address me so I introduce myself, ‘hello, I'm Charlie the Chaplain or whatever, I didn't say that. But I did identify myself and the officer said it would be fine if I visited the “patient”. So I cross the room, I pull up a chair, and I sit with this guy, a pretty good sized guy… Are you feeling any pain? Where are you from? Does your family know you're here? Not much of a conversation. I asked him if it would be alright if I prayed for him. He said yes. By the way I'm not big on prayer myself but if it's for someone else and they value it, which some really do, I'm happy to do that. As I was leaving that room and walking down the hall, I thought of that incredibly sad hospital room. And it wasn't just the patient chained to his own bed. Were either of those two officers realizing their full potential sitting in that room all… day… long. Staring and scrolling on their phone. Is that what they imagined when they decided to get into law enforcement? I doubt it. I felt bad for everyone in that room. What made me think of this is that today, I'm in one of the units, I'm walking down the all and I'm behind two law officers again. You do see officers around a hospital, particularly the ER Department and the front desk perhaps but not usually IN the hospital. So now I look past the two officers and I see a guy with gray hair, who I think is shuffling along because, that's what patients do in hospitals who have just had surgery and many times they've got their IV stand they're pushing along beside them. This guy has all that and he's shackled AND he's got some contraption around his waist that looks like they've got big brick sized batteries on his sides. AND, there's another officer in front of him. This could have been Hannibal Lecter Junior for all I know. What gray haired man need three armed guards around him when he's already shackled? Jesus, I'm lucky I still have a face. Music: "Lightless Dawn" Kevin MacLeod (incompetech.com); Licensed under Creative Commons: By Attribution 4.0 License; http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/
Andrew and Johnny welcome comedian and former scientist Jono Zalay to the Cavalry for episode 103. Jono tells the story of how he mistakenly stayed in a random person's house instead of his hotel room when he attended Andrew's wedding. Then he needs backup on participation trophies being bad for the environment and that charity shows should still pay comedians fair even if they're raising money for a good cause. Johnny needs backup on getting rid of pitchers in baseball. Remember to leave a five star review and what you need backup on in your life and we'll discuss it on the show!

Luciano will back Marvel; Matt will back DC. Both of them are likely to be wrong on a ton of things (even if definitely less wrong than you). State governments across the USA overreacted to the potential threat of COVID19 by locking down everyone and not focusing on those who had the highest risk of complications related to the virus. But their overreaction was complicated by our trust of their judgement! It is time to right the wrong and understand that GOVERNMENT CAN NOT DO A BETTER JOB TAKING CARE OF US THAN WE CAN! It is time for smaller, less powerful government!
