++NOTE - Rob refers to Jim Chalmers during the Salute and a Slap segment, when it is actually Richard Marles. Rob will give himself a good slap over that one! ********** Australian Survivor axed? | Ben Roberts-Smith media circus | Logies reform | Karl's salute and slap | ABC diversity spin Rob McKnight breaks down the week's biggest Australian media stories — including an exclusive on the future of Australian Survivor, the media coverage surrounding the arrest of Ben Roberts-Smith, a new nomination process for the Gold Logie, a measured look at Karl Stefanovic's interview highs and lows, and the real story behind the ABC's decision to end its diversity group partnerships. Australian Survivor's days may be numbered. As exclusively reported by TV Blackbox, Channel 10 has scrapped plans for a back-to-back two-season shoot, with only one season now going ahead. Rob reveals the axing of host Jonathan LaPaglia had less to do with salary than a long-running clash with Endemol Shine executive Amelia Fisk — and explains why all signs are pointing to the return of Australian Ninja Warrior as a replacement. The Ben Roberts-Smith arrest and the media circus around it. Critics were quick to condemn the camera crew at the airport — but as Rob explains, that footage came from the Office of the Special Investigator, not a news outlet. Rob also reflects on his McKnight Tonight interview with combat veteran Heston Russell, which had generated 56,000 views and over 1,100 comments at time of recording, and what the reaction tells us about public trust in the media. The ABC, diversity partnerships, and the misinformation spreading online. The ABC ended its paid memberships with Pride in Diversity, the Australian Disability Network, and the Diversity Council of Australia — but it is not abandoning diversity and inclusion programs. Rob cuts through the spin from both sides, including the Media Watch history that many viral videos are conveniently ignoring. Logies reform: a step in the right direction. TV Week can now put forward nominees for the Gold Logie and Hall of Fame — and Rob, a Logies judge himself, explains why this is a welcome change, and has some pointed advice for presenters submitting their reels. A Salute and a Slap for Karl Stefanovic. The Karl Stefanovic Show has changed Australian podcasting. The production values are high, the interviews are compelling, and Rob genuinely can't wait to see what comes next. But in the same breath — that Jim Chalmers interview on Today nearly had it all, until Karl tried to land a last-minute hit and move on without letting the Treasurer respond. Australian Survivor back-to-back shoot scrapped — and what's coming next The real reason Jonathan LaPaglia was axed from Survivor Ben Roberts-Smith arrest footage — who actually shot it? Heston Russell interview reaction: 56K views, 1,100+ comments ABC drops diversity group partnerships — what it actually means Gold Logie nomination reform — and advice for presenters Karl Stefanovic: salute and a slap BBC Eurovision 1977 — the director's cut you weren't supposed to hear
St Patty's Day is right around the corner and seeing how it'll be TV Week when the Holiday hits, we might as well celebrate early by spending sometime with our favorite miniature terror, Lubdan the Leprechaun | Leprechaun 4: In Space | Resurfacing on an alien planet, the Leprechaun (Warwick Davis) abducts a member of the world's royalty, Princess Zarina (Rebekah Carlton), in an attempt to wed her and become the supreme ruler. Unfortunately for the diminutive schemer, well-armed soldiers arrive to foil his plans. Not easily defeated, however, the feisty Leprechaun continues to battle the warriors while also contending with the warped scientist known as Dr. Mittenhand (Guy Siner).

On today's pod I have ‘The Dogfather' ‘Graeme Hall' taking to me from the UK. The dog behaviourist is about to join ‘Network Ten's' latest lifestyle series ‘Dogs Behaving Very Badly.' ‘Graeme Hall' has helped more than 5,000 people and their furry companions in the UK. Now, he has arrived in Australia ready to turn his hand to Australia's chaotic canines. He's scoured the nation for the naughtiest hounds and is ready to retrain those with the most outrageous, unusual, hilarious and, sometimes, downright disturbing behaviours. Narrated by ‘TV Week' Gold 'Logie' 2023 nominee, ‘Julia Morris, 'Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly Australia' is holding Australia's naughtiest pooches and their owners to account. But will ‘Graeme's' mantra "Any Dog, Any Age, Any Problem" ring true Down Under? Tune in on Thursday nights at 7.30pm on ‘10' and ‘10 Play' to find out! I will talk if it's fair to call the dogs naughty when it's usually the owners fault. ‘Graeme' will share how he came to specialising in dog behaviour and where the ‘Dogfather' name came from Along the way I will find out some tips for your dogs and you will get some insights that will change your relationship with your dog for life. Plus we will get plenty of exclusives from behind the scenes of ‘Dogs Behaving Very Badly.' See omnystudio.com/listener for privacy information.

The '80s cult crowdpleasing show (and its modern-day remake) are discussed tonight with the help of "Dre" from Ta2Squid Podcast! Was Mr. T ever an actual badass or just very theatrical to watch on-screen? Was the movie version really incompetent like the newest MacGyver reboot or actually okay fun? Why was this show considered so violent even by Reagan voters and TV standards despite being bloodless and campy? And more tidbits on one of the most iconically fun TV shows of all time! It's mid-July. Sarah's sizzling in the hell mouth that is Dallas, Nancy's mired in NYC's hot human grime, and both think it's a really good idea to stay inside and watch some television. “The Bear” on FX/Hulu turns out to be the distraction they need, a high-octane but humane adventure set in a Chicago kitchen. Nancy is moved to tears by the sight of broken people trying to be better. Sarah gets sucked in by the characters learning from each other and finding self-respect in their work. And both Nancy and Sarah are captivated by the making of a cake. Another treat turns out to be “How to Change Your Mind,” a four-part docu-series about psychedelics based on the 2018 Michael Pollan book that Sarah kept meaning to read. (Thank you, Netflix.) We learn under-the-radar histories about LSD, psilocybin, MDMA, and mescaline, and hear from folks who say these long-vilified drugs can alleviate suffering, ease trauma, and evoke wonder. Sarah wonders if a sober life includes room for psychedelics. Nancy wonders if that amazing drug she once took was actually mescaline. Welcome to the debut of The Amateur Gourmet Podcast! Fans of Lunch Therapy: don’t worry. You’ll still get all of the same in-depth interviews that you loved before, only now we’re doing it on a theme. And this week’s theme is FOOD TV. Natasha Leggero, host of the brand new TBS cooking competition show Rat in the Kitchen, comes on to talk about judging a cooking show, talking about food on TV, traveling with Chef Ludo Lefebvre, what she cooks at home, her dad sending back his pasta, and being married to someone who keeps kosher (comedian Moshe Kasher). Before that, though, my good pal Jonathan Parks-Ramage comes on to talk about his love for Top Chef (we dish on who’s the hottest) and, more importantly, Kids Baking Championship. Is it a celebration of youthful obsessions with all things culinary? Or is it a new way for stage parents to force their kids into the limelight?
