While studying moral theology at Holy Apostles College and Seminary in Cromwell, CT, Dr. Violette volunteered in local impoverished areas and learned firsthand how devastating mental illness can be to family life. This impassioned him to attend to the growing need for professional mental health care from a Catholic standpoint and to pursue advanced studies in clinical psychology at the Institute for the Psychological Sciences at Divine Mercy University. Nick Dellasega should have died on May 7th, 2011, at the age of twenty-six. During a 5k race, he collapsed and his heart stopped beating. A teenage cousin prayed fervently at Nick's side, asking particularly for the intercession of Fr. Emil Kapaun, the Kansas-native, Korean-war chaplain. Barely making it to a hospital in time, Nick should have been brain-dead or beyond resuscitation when his pulse restarted.
