What is "estate planning," and why is it important?

Join Jen Julius as she interviews Lorilee DeSantis about what estate planning is, and why it’s important. Lorilee will share her knowledge and passion for proper estate planning, including: -What estate planning is and how it works -What happens if you don’t do proper planning -Who should have an estate plan This interview will help business owners, employees, and stay-at-home parents understand critical information about how estate planning relates to protecting both a person’s assets and their children when an individual passes away. Lorilee DeSantis is an attorney who has dedicated herself to helping families protect their loved ones and their assets. Lorilee has educated many families in Sonoma County about their legal options when it comes to planning for the inevitable – death. Lorilee believes it is critical for people to have a proper estate plan in order to (1) save potentially thousands of dollars in unnecessary probate costs, (2) avoid subjecting loved ones to the stress and headaches which come with the probate process, (3) proactively determine who will receive assets as beneficiaries, and (4) structure gifts to children so that they can receive money for things like education without giving them unrestricted access to money to spend unwisely. Through the estate planning process, Lorilee empowers her clients to live well-informed lives with confidence that their loved ones and assets are safeguarded. Prior to starting her own successful law firm in 2014, Lorilee practiced estate planning and family law in Contra Costa County and Sonoma County. In 2012, Lorilee was awarded the prestigious Sonoma County Superior Court’s Pro Bono Award for Outstanding Service in recognition of the assistance she provided to underprivileged people who needed family law guidance. Prior to becoming an attorney, Lorilee attended Golden Gate University School of Law where she was on the Dean’s List, she was a Merit Scholar, and she participated in the Honors Lawyering Program. Lorilee graduated from law school in the top 5% of her class. Topic: Thermography for Breast Cancer Prevention Join Jen Julius as she interviews Kristine Blanche about her current endeavor to fundraise enough money to conduct a thorough research project showing the incredible impact that thermography (a tool that detects the heat pattern within a body part) and a combination of other integrative treatment can make on the prevention of breast cancer, which is currently killing 40,000 women per year- just in America. We will discuss cancer prevention and treatment from a holistic and integrative standpoint, as well as how cancer treatment has become a huge problem- and how you can be part of the solution. Kristine Blanche is the owner and operator of Integrative Healing Center & Spa, an innovative healing center in the heart of the North Shore of Long Island, New York. With an extensive background in conventional medicine, including thirteen years of experience in Emergency Medicine, Wound Care, Critical Care and General Surgery, Kristine realized that the medicine that she studied her whole life was not enough when her role as a healer took a sharp turn. Her grandfather approached the end of his life, her 32 year-old sister-in-law, Lori, was diagnosed with stage 2B Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and colon cancer reared its ugly head in her father’s life. Kristine is now the owner of one of the most comprehensive holistic health centers on Long Island. Integrative Healing Center & Spa is a safe place where clients can come to be heard and to heal. We are all students of life and it is at Integrative that Kristine inspires her talented team to use their own life experiences to heal and help their clients live healthy and happy lives. She believes that we all deserve a healthcare system where comfort, education, guidance, and empowerment are the priorities. Her passion stems from the belief that we all have the innate right to experience the healing power of our own spirit and body . . . to experience the healer within.
