What if your child could actually learn to manage money—not just play pretend with it? Teaching kids about money has traditionally involved games, fake dollars, and hypothetical situations. But what if the key to lasting financial habits was giving them real financial experiences? In this eye-opening episode, we talk to the CEO of Stockpile, a financial platform that helps kids and families learn to save, invest, and spend. Victor opens up about his founder journey, raising $45 million, the company's mission-driven design, and how Stockpile empowers kids to make real investment choices while giving parents peace of mind. You'll hear how Stockpile has built a platform that doesn't just teach financial literacy; helps families live it, building lifelong confidence and smart money behaviors. This one's a must-listen for parents, educators, and startup founders alike. Here are highlights: -Real Financial Literacy for Kids: Research shows kids learn best with real-world experience. Stockpile's platform uses actual money to teach kids saving, investing, and budgeting in a meaningful, lasting way. -Mission-Driven Design: Stockpile prioritizes saving and investing over spending, with features like "kids choose, parents approve" to foster smart habits and meaningful family money conversations. -Lessons from the Founder's Journey: Victor shares how his entrepreneurial upbringing and multiple startups led him to Stockpile, including the importance of aligning values, culture, and hiring practices. -Adapting to Market Volatility: The platform encourages resilience and patience by letting kids make real investment choices and experience gains and losses, reinforcing the importance of long-term strategy. -Team Culture and Leadership Values: Victor reveals how Stockpile builds a strong remote culture by hiring for fit, investing in internal development, and maintaining transparency and trust across a global team. About the guest: Victor Wang is CEO of Stockpile, an investing platform empowering the next generation of investors through hands-on learning. With over 25 years as a successful entrepreneur, Victor brings the leadership and passion needed to remove barriers in the financial industry and enable people to own their financial futures. Victor's belief that today's youth deserve the same opportunities he had when his father came to America with just $40 in his pocket inspired his vision of using Stockpile to make investing accessible for all and give children the power to shape their financial futures. With his background partnering with leading brands like Wells Fargo Bank, American Express, Nike, LEGO, Indian Motorcycle and Jamba Juice, Victor provides the strategic vision and innovation to advance Stockpile's mission of driving financial inclusion. Amid the racial reckoning that followed George Floyd's murder in 2020, many U.S. business leaders promised to make workplaces more diverse, equitable, and inclusive. Welcome back, dear listener. In today's episode, I got to chat with someone I've admired from afar for a long time, Whitney Rydman. I first came across Whitney some years ago, when I was early in my recovery from migraine and I was binging Nicole Sachs's podcast, which is called The Cure for Chronic Pain. Whitney was a guest who came on the podcast to talk about her own personal recovery from pelvic pain. She had such an engaging and inspiring voice that I wanted to know more, so I followed her on Instagram, as one does. And I eventually learned that Whitney is not only an incredible person who talks about her own healing in a relatable and uplifting way, she's also the amazing graphic designer behind the websites and social media branding of many well-known names in the chronic pain recovery world, including Nicole Sachs, Alan Gordon, the Curable app and more. But she didn't start out in the mind-body world. Whitney studied graphic design at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco and shortly after college, she was recruited as the lead designer for Jamba Juice, applying her hand-lettering and illustration skills as part of her design work for all their in-store collateral. Other brands she's worked on include Pottery Barn, West Elm, and Williamns-Sonoma. But after working as a corporate designer in the retail space for over 15 years, she reached a point of burnout and her body let her know. She discovered what she was experiencing was TMS — or mind-body chronic symptoms — and she was amazed at the results of using neuroplasticity in her recovery. Since then, she became passionate about using her design experience to service experts in the mind body space. Whitney also winds up coaching her design clients on what has become my favorite topic lately: How the entrepreneurship journey totally mirrors the mind-body healing journey, with all of its ups and downs, leaps forward and setbacks, and I can't wait to share with you our conversation about it! Welcome to the Arete Coach Podcast, hosted by Severin Sorensen. In this episode, recorded via Zoom on September 13th, 2024, we are honored to have Hannah Finrow, a Master Certified Coach (MCC) with the International Coach Federation (ICF). Hannah is renowned for her expertise as a Life Coach, Executive Coach, and global coaching expert. She serves as a premier fellow coach at BetterUp and has held leadership roles at CoachTrainingEDU, including VP of Marketing Education. In an engaging conversation, titled, " "Don't ever stop being Hannah," Hannah Finrow shares her inspiring journey from being one of nine children to becoming a highly respected coach with over a decade of experience. Her career began in service-level positions, including management roles at Taco Bell and Jamba Juice, before discovering her passion for coaching. Over the past years, Hannah has dedicated herself to helping individuals unlock their potential, enhance their leadership skills, and embrace their authentic selves. Recognized globally, Hannah has contributed more than 10,000 hours to coaching, mentoring, and training. This episode delves into Hannah's profound commitment to empowering entrepreneurs and coaches to find their unique voices, perfectly aligning with the Arete Coach Podcast's exploration of excellence in executive coaching. Hannah Finrow's journey to becoming a Master Certified Coach offers valuable insights for executive coaches. Her emphasis on authenticity and "being" rather than just "doing" highlights the importance of personal growth and self-awareness in coaching. Hannah's approach demonstrates that effective coaching goes beyond techniques and tools; it's about creating a space where clients can explore their true selves and unlock their potential. The podcast underscores the significance of listening and intuition in executive coaching. Hannah's practice of "pausing for intuition" and her willingness to ask seemingly unrelated questions based on her intuitive insights showcase the power of deep listening and trust in the coaching process. This approach can help executive coaches move beyond surface-level conversations to facilitate profound breakthroughs with their clients. Hannah's perspective on the "gap" in coaching provides a crucial framework for executive coaches. By focusing on the space between where clients are and where they want to be, coaches can help clients identify areas for growth and development. Additionally, Hannah's multidimensional approach, incorporating elements like poetry and metaphor, illustrates how executive coaches can leverage diverse tools and perspectives to enhance their practice and create more impactful coaching experiences. The Arete Coach Podcast seeks to explore the art and science of executive coaching. You can find out more about this podcast at aretecoach.io. Jeff Weinstein grew up in the Detroit Metro area with a big extended family. His earliest work experience started at 13, answering phones and doing clerical work during tax season for the accounting firm where his father was a partner. He gained his first leadership experience as a founding member, chapter president and regional vice president of B'nai B'rith Youth Organization in Michigan. He has over 30 years of experience in the food and beverage business, beginning with full service restaurant and cafe work while he studied Philosophy at the University of Michigan. His knowledge of the business comes from working on the job. Jeff spent 12 years with Peet's Coffee & Tea in the San Francisco Bay Area where he played every role they would allow him, from serving coffee, managing a store, running a district, building an operations services department and creating wholesale programs. After time with Dean & Deluca and Starbucks—both great learning opportunities—he joined Jamba Juice where he led operations services for over 800 domestic and international locations. In 2015, Jamba sold most of their corporate units to franchisees. Jeff led operations for Vitaligent—Jamba's largest franchisee with shops in Northern California and Washington—and eventually became CEO of the 96-unit restaurant group. In 2022, Vitaligent was successfully acquired by an even larger restaurant group called Sizzling Platter. After supporting the transition, Jeff joined Wise Sons Jewish Delicatessen as CEO. Wise Sons operates six delis in San Francisco and Oakland, in addition to a scratch bakery, commissary and wholesale business. Following the recent college graduation of their daughter, Jeff and his wife of 30 years moved to the Sonoma Valley where they serve multiple non-profit organizations.

Nacpan Beach, El Nido, Philippines In this episode, the FAQ is: How should I celebrate my birthday when on a trip? . Today's Destination is El Nido, Philippines, Part 1, Nacpan Beach Today's Mistake- Getting a bug in my ear Travel Advice: Renew that passport FAQ: How should I celebrate my birthday when on a trip? Answer: Happy Birthday. It would be best if you undoubtedly celebrated it, especially when you are traveling. Make sure you have plenty of drinks for free that day, from a 7-11 Slurpee to a Peet's Coffee, Jamba Juice, and a shake from Sonic, Del Taco, and Arby's. It's a great day to eat at Denny's, for the Grand Slam is free, too. The notes list lots of freebies for you, so celebrate the festivities solo or with friends. https://www.rd.com/list/freebies-on-your-birthday/ Today's destination: Nacpan Beach, El Nido, Philippines El Nido is a Philippine municipality on Palawan Island. It's known for its white-sand beaches and coral reefs and as the gateway to the Bacuit archipelago, a group of islands with cliffs. One of those beaches was Nacpan. I took a ride from Mark on a trike. I brought snorkeling gear and spent the day swimming, lounging, and relaxing. Listen in a few minutes to hear my mistake about an ant. The beach is well maintained and tourist-friendly, without being too commercial. There are resorts on the water and a restaurant/bar with decent food. They also have plenty of filtered, free drinking water for those who need hydration. The free showers are accessible to all, and the restrooms are clean. For all of this, there was a small entrance fee. In addition, we paid about $10. US to use a chaise lounge all day, which was acceptable for convenience and shaded. I took several long walks along the beach, which was too hot to walk barefoot on the sand, except by the water. The waves were calm. The water was shallow and clear. It was ideal for a relaxing day at the beach. Today's Mistake-Getting a bug in my ear While relaxing on a chaise lounge at Nacpan Beach, I enjoyed the shade of a tree and the chance to rest and doze a bit. Then, all of a sudden, I woke to a real scare. Something was in my ear, and I could not get it out. I've never felt this before, and it was a big deal. I was alone, and I got up and spoke loudly, so when I asked a stranger for help to look in my ear, he was patient and kind and said, It's only an ant, and removed it. That was traumatic for just a few minutes, but I guess it happens often. I hope this never happens to you, but if it does, don't worry. The ant does not want to be there, either. Today's Travel Advice-Renew that passport Check your passport expiration date: If you have less than six months left, get it renewed now. Many countries will not allow you entrance, and it is best to get it done before you forget. I want to bring meaning to your travels. Send a question or travel tip to info@drmarytravelbest.com. What would it look like to Win the Pandemic? Comedian Alyssa Westerlund breaks up with her boyfriend at the beginning of Lockdown, and she's been dealing with the loneliness and depression of a deep-in-COVID world with Ayahuasca, DMT and blueberry smoothies. Then one sizzling August night, she's dancing naked in her living room when she feels her much younger neighbor's eyes on her. He confesses that he's in awe of her after listening to her having sex with strangers for years, and soon they're chatting, playfully eating ice cubes off/out of each other and doing push-ups. "What is Substack" is a question with a deceptively simple answer. Yes, it's an email newsletter platform (made up of text, audio, video, etc). But it's also much more than that. Substack is known for its hands-off approach to censorship. While there are still some publishing guidelines (no porn, hate speech or harassment, for example), the platform's lack of gatekeeping has attracted both ground-breaking journalists and some seriously controversial writers”. https://blog.hootsuite.com/what-is-substack/ (My Substack launch has been delayed by my life's latest calamity, but it'll start soon) Wanna work one-on-one with Dixie?
