Life in the Peloton is proudly brought to you by MAAP Guys, the Giro is underway and that can only mean one thing; it's time for me to wheel out that classic old LITP story of the time I rode the Team Time Trial at the 2014 Giro with the Greenedge boys and we only went and bloody won it!...What do you mean I bring it up every year? Seriously, though, this is one of my favourite episodes we've ever made. I know some of you will have heard it before when it was first released during lockdown, but there's a lot of new listeners in the Pelo now who may not have heard me catching up with Orica Greenedge's ‘Class Of ‘14' Giro squad who took the win in the opening TTT in Belfast at the 2014 Giro d'Italia. This is a monster ep, with amazing stories from Svein ‘Sveino' Tuft, ‘Cam-a-carzi' Meyer, Michael ‘Bling' Matthews, Michael ‘Heppy' Hepburn, Pieter ‘Weendog' Weening, Brett ‘Burt' Lancaster, Matt ‘Whitey' White, and - of course - my old mate Luke ‘Durbo' Durbridge. What a line up?!  I absolutely loved relistening to this, and reliving the memories from over 10 years ago. This was one of my best days on the bike, surrounded by an amazing group of guys who I'm still good mates with today.  It's the first rest day of the 2025 Giro today, so this should keep you excited before the racing kicks off again in Italy tomorrow. Sit back, relax, and enjoy; I hope you love it. Cheers, Mitch

Chloe elucidates the app's multifaceted functionalities, including a scheduling tool that allows groomers to manage their operations seamlessly, while clients enjoy the convenience of booking appointments through an intuitive marketplace. We explore the importance of enhancing the customer experience by shifting away from traditional communication methods such as text messages, advocating instead for a more efficient system of push notifications via the app. As we delve deeper into the subject, it becomes evident that the overarching goal of Tuft is to empower groomers, enabling them to focus on their craft rather than administrative tasks. Ultimately, this episode underscores the significance of adaptability and modernity in the grooming industry, emphasizing how technological advancements can significantly enhance operational efficiency and client satisfaction.Takeaways: In the latest episode of the Pet Grooming Business podcast, we explored the innovative features of Tuft App, which offers a comprehensive scheduling solution for pet groomers, integrating various functionalities to enhance operational efficiency. Chloe from Tuft articulated the importance of streamlining the administrative burdens faced by groomers, enabling them to focus more on pet care and less on paperwork and scheduling. The discussion highlighted the significance of client relationship management (CRM) tools in the grooming industry, emphasizing how they can help maintain customer data securely and facilitate smoother communication between groomers and pet owners. In The People of the Ruins (originally published in 1920), Edward Shanks imagines England in the not-so-distant future as a neo mediaeval society whose inhabitants have forgotten how to build or operate machinery. Jeremy Tuft is a physics instructor and former artillery officer who is cryogenically frozen in his laboratory only to emerge after a century and a half to a disquieting new era. Though at first Tuft is disconcerted by the failure of his own era's smug doctrine of Progress, he eventually decides that he prefers the post civilised life. But, when the northern English and Welsh tribes invade, Tuft must set about reinventing weapons of mass destruction. One of the most critically acclaimed and popular postwar stories of its day, The People of the Ruins captured a feeling that was common among those who had fought and survived the Great War: haunted by trauma and guilt, its protagonist feels out of time and out of place, unsure of what is real or unreal. Shanks implies in this seminal work, as Dr. Paul March-Russell explains in the book's introduction, that the political system was already corrupt before the story began, and that Bolshevism and anarchism—and the resulting civil wars—merely accelerated the world's inevitable decline. A satire of Wellsian techno-utopian novels, The People of the Ruins is a bold, entertaining, and moving postapocalyptic novel contemporary readers won't soon forget. This interview was conducted by Dr. Miranda Melcher whose new book focuses on post-conflict military integration, understanding treaty negotiation and implementation in civil war contexts, with qualitative analysis of the Angolan and Mozambican civil wars. Why does higher education matter? Hardly a day passes without reference to some scandal, fraud or failure associated with American academic institutions, and there are few more important stories to be told in America right now than this one. Anthony is joined by Tuft's Professor Emeritus Sol Gittleman to discuss his new book, The Accidental Triumph: The Improbable History of American Higher Education. Sol reflects on his many years of leadership at Tufts University discussing whether American higher education is a disaster as it is sometimes painted, or really the great envy of the world. Advertising Inquiries: https://redcircle.com/brandsPrivacy & Opt-Out: https://redcircle.com/privacy

Send us a Text Message. From an early age, Harry Tuft was involved in piano and clarinet lessons. Through a summer camp counselor, he learned about the ukulele and became interested in playing that instrument. From there, he moved to a baritone ukulele, and then a six-string guitar. His father loved classical music and opera and would often play traditional classical during dinner. After dinner, Tuft would listen to the pop and R&B stations of the day and sing along with the likes of Nat King Cole, Jo Stafford, and Perry Como. From John McEuen: "With the airing of Ken Burns Country Music, [John] McEuen has brought acoustic music to many new fans, taking part in 4 episodes of the series. Episode 6 is called Will The Circle Be Unbroken and John closes that one. A co-founding member of Nitty Gritty Dirt Band (1966, with a dream ‘to be on the radio').  October 2017, after [the] 50th anniversary tour, John left the band to pursue his own tour dates and projects, and stepped off the bus." From a very young age, inspired by a piano inherited from his grandparents, Howard Dlugasch took piano lessons of his own volition. By his early teens, he started playing a multitude of instruments, such as guitar, drums, bass, and vocals. He jokes that he is mediocre at all of them, but only because he is a musician who wants to focus on a multitude of instruments at once rather than completely on one specific instrument.  Thank you for listening to The Mountain-Ear podcast featuring the news and culture from peak to peak. Selecting a vendor to do business with can be a tricky, convoluted process. How do you know who is the right fit? In this episode of the Scope of Things podcast, host Deborah Borfitz speaks with Dennis Salotti, Executive Director & Head, Clinical Outsourcing & Innovation at Jazz Pharmaceuticals, who shares what he knows about the complex vendor qualification process and the various ways sponsors and CROs are going about the expensive and time-consuming exercise. With two decades of experience in the field and having co-authored a report with Tuft's Center for the Study of Drug Development, Salotti provides valuable insight on what to prioritize during vendor assessment, what factors can affect customized assessments, and the importance of building—and sometimes rebuilding—relationships with vendors. He also delves into how effective internal data and precompetitive info sharing on routinely assessed areas can help reduce cycle time and how companies can act on this. Links from this episode:  Scope of Things Links:  Clinical Research News Scope Summit Jazz Pharmaceuticals: Jazz Pharmaceuticals

Tonight, we'll read the German fairy tale “Rapunzel” lightly adapted by us from “The Red Fairy Book,” and attributed to The Brothers Grimm. Some researchers have proposed that the earliest possible inspiration for the “Maiden in the Tower” archetype is to the pre-Christian European (or proto-Indo-European) sun or dawn goddess myths, in which a “light deity” is trapped and then rescued. If you are still awake after Rapunzel, you will find another hair-themed fairy tale titled “Ricky with the Tuft” from “The Tales of Mother Goose,” by Charles Perrault.
