Inspired by watching Chris spend hours looking for a movie to watch, Pam bought the book 1001 MOVIES YOU MUST SEE BEFORE YOU DIE (ed. Steven Schneider). From that book, they created their Movie Bucket List. Now their date-night-in is spent watching a movie from that list and bringing their thoughts to you: plot, characters, actors, favorite quotes, historical background, film theory, literary elements, or sometimes just the parts they like best. Most importantly, they discuss whether the movie should be included in the book (and your movie bucket list!) At the end of every episode, they reveal the next movie so that you, too, can finish your own movie bucket list (or at least just watch the movie first since they will discuss spoilers!) Yippee Ki Yay....Well, you know. Our next movie is Die Hard, the age old Christmas class, or is it? Listen to find out whether we think this is a Christmas movie or not.
We've hit movie #40 out of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week, we are discussing Paul Thomas Anderson's 2007 film. Daniel Day Lewis plays an ruthless oil man, and our anti-hero, in this amazing film.
Our first black and white movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week, we are talking about the 1957 movie 12 Angry Men with Henry Fonda. From IMDB: A jury holdout attempts to prevent a miscarriage of justice by forcing his colleagues to reconsider the evidence.Follow us on social media @themblpodcast.
It is a double episode this week! We decided that we couldn't split Alien and Aliens, so we watched them back to back. Both movies are included in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, so we decided to do a double episode and cover them both! Find out which version we liked best and stay to the end to find out the next movie!!Follow us on all social media @themblpodcast.
ADRIAN!!! ADRIAN!!! 40+ years later, and people are still running up Rocky's steps in Philly and yelling out his girlfriend's name. Rocky (1976) is the next movie in our quest to watch all 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This isn't just some dumb sports movie; it's a love story.
It is time for a new edition of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. The 2020 Edition has been released, and we discuss the movies that have been added and the ones removed to make room for them.
It's our HALLOWEEN EPISODE! Who you gonna call?? Ghostbusters!!So many wonderful things to celebrate at The Movie Bucket List Podcast. Our Halloween Episode covers Ghostbusters (1984). This is also marks the one year anniversary of the MBL Podcast, and the end of Season 1. We begin Season 2 with the newest 2020 edition of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. So enjoy our season finale and hope to "see" you again for Season 2!! Don't forget to follow us across all social media @themblepodcast (and check out the 'gram for a picture of Ron Jeremy as an extra on Ghostbusters).
They're heeeeeeere! We are celebrating the month of October by covering horror/ghost movies! The first one up is Poltergeist from 1982. This movie was so scary when we were younger, but does it hold up after all these years? This is our 34th movie out of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. Follow us on all social media @themblpodcast
Bueller, Bueller, Bueller...We have reached #33 in our quest to watch the movies listed in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week we had the luck of picking Ferris Bueller's Day Off written and directed by John Hughes. Being a couple of Gen Xers, we completely love and totally relate to this movie (and basically all John Hughes movies). Make sure to listen to the end to find out our next movie. Since we have moved into October, we are going HALLOWEEN THEMED!! Find out what our next movie is at the end of the podcast. Follow us on social media @themblpodcast and don't forget to SUBSCRIBE
We continue our quest to watch all 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week, we randomly selected our 32nd movie, Robert Altman's The Player (1992). The Player has the distinction of having the most Oscar winners in one film: 12 actors/actresses and 1 producer/director. Does the star power overshadow the plot? Can the acting help the self-important writing? Can Pam figure out why exactly this movie won so many awards? Feel free to tell us what we are missing! Find us on social media @themblpodcast.
We are discussing the amazing PTA (Paul Thomas Anderson) and his movie Boogie Nights. While all our episodes are marked explicit, this one is definitely NSFW. Boogie Nights follows porn star, Dirk Diggler, as he navigates through the world of porn and his place in it. This episode is a tad bit longer than usual, but it's hard to fit in all the goodness of a PTA film in one hour! This is number 31 out of 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die.
Our next movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die is Black Panther. Between us watching the movie and recording this podcast, Chadwick Boseman (Black Panther) passed away after a 4 year battle with colon cancer. We love this movie, so hopefully we can show him some posthumous love to the character that he gave life to. Wakanda Forever!
Our next movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die is The Naked Gun: From the Files of Police Squad! This one is a bit different for us since it is a more plot-driven movie rather than the character-driven ones we have been discussing recently; this one is all fun! If you are following along with your own movie Bucket List, we are on number 29. Listen to the end to find out which movie is number 30. Follow us on all social media @themblpodcast
Chris and Pam discuss the next movie from 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week's randomly selected movie is Muriel's Wedding. This 1994 Australian movie might seem frivolous on the surface, but it is a movie very layered in emotions and lessons. Muriel is from the small (fictional) town of Porpoise Spit and must learn some valuable lessons about what it means to value yourself. Spoilers are discussed, so watch the movie first if those things matter to you!
Chris and Pam are watching all the movies in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. This week is #27 - Do The Right Thing written and produced by Spike Lee. If you have not seen this movie or you haven't seen it in the last 2 years, you must watch it. This is a classic example of Life imitating Art. Chris and Pam not only discuss the movie this week, but they do discuss the Black Lives Matter movement and some of the injustices that Black Americans face daily. This episode is unapologetically political. Follow us on social media: Twitter, Facebook, Instagram- @themblpodcast
We're back!! We had a slight little vacation, but we've got a new episode ready for listening. This week, we will discuss our first "horror" movie, The Cabin in the Woods. We have to admit we were a little perplexed as to why this movie is in 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, but listen to the podcast to find out why we agree with the inclusion of this movie on this list.
We're going to make you an offer you can't refuse! Listen to our podcast or you might wind up with a horse head in your bed. Well, not really. But we would love for you to listen our latest episode on The Godfather (1972) directed by Francis Ford Coppola. We are 25 movies into 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, and make sure to listen to the very end to find out which movie is #26.
As if! Whatever! I'm not trying to hear that! So many classic quotes from a classic movie. Nothing is more typical mid-90s as Clueless, written and directed by Amy Heckerling. The fashion, the music, the issues, the technology are all sooo 90s, and the 90s were sooo awesome. Now don't be a full-on Monet, listen to our latest episode even though you are a virgin who can't drive.
What's in the box?!?! What's in the *&^# box?!?! We all know what's in the box, but it doesn't make it any less exciting to watch Se7en over and over again. Directed by David Fincher, Se7en (1995) is quite a journey through the Seven Deadly Sins with a super satisfying un-Hollywood ending. No happily ever afters here! The movie still holds up after 25 years. Make sure to subscribe and listen to our review of Se7en!
Hello listeners!! This week, we are discussing the 2009 James Cameron's soon-to-be part 1 of 5 epic, Avatar!! You read that correctly. Avatar is now planned as a 5 part movie series. So pull up Disney+ and reacquaint yourself with the original and listen to our thoughts!!
Hey Spider! Dance that drink over here!! One of the best "true stories" ever that has been made into a movie. Scorsese at his best brings us Goodfellas (1990). DeNiro, Pesci, Scorsese, with a dash of Liotta makes this an amazing film. We might have gotten a little too into the movie as this episode might be a bit more explicit than others - the number of F bombs are drastically increased in this episode!
We were a little surprised that an Avengers movie made it into 1001 Movies You Must See Before You Die, but it is extremely entertaining (even though this is Pam's first Avenger movie). Come listen with us while in our self-quarantined status. Find us on social media @themblpodcast and let us know what info we might have missed from the movie!!
This week, Watcha Watchin' Wednesday happens on Friday!! Oops. Having everyone at home ALL. THE. TIME. has taken some time getting used to. This week, the 2015 Academy Award winner for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Screenplay, and Best Cinematography - Birdman (or the Unexpected Virtue of Ignorance) starring Michael Keaton, Edward Norton, Emma Stone, Amy Ryan, and Naomi Watts.
Already getting a little stir crazy with social distancing? We have two suggestions for making your day a little better. HBO's Curb Your Enthusiasm and Amazon's Troop Zero are our picks to get you out of the funk.
You could sum up this movie with one phrase: A cock in a frock on a rock. But this movie is oh so much more than that. Winning 1995 Oscar for Best Costume Design, this movie is visual eye candy. Combine that with some amazing writing and you get The Adventures of Priscilla, Queen of the Desert! Our first international review, this Aussie film is quite a treat. Download our podcast to hear about our favorite parts.

We made a podcast...out of a DeLorean?!?! Yes, we sure did because this week we are talking about Back to the Future starring Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd. Listen to hear some historical perspective from 1950s v 1980s, what scenes did not make it into the movie, and our favorite parts of the film!
It's time for another edition of Watcha Watchin Wednesday! This week, our picks both come from Netflix. Pam finally gave in and watched Love is Blind and LOVED it. Chris took the high road and is watching Unabomber: In His Own Words. Take a listen and see if you are ready to add any of these on your "list." Happy Watching!
"Son, you got a panty on your head." This is one of the best quotes in cinematic history written and directed by the genius that is the Coen Brothers. Raising Arizona (1987) is a timeless comedy that STILL has us rolling in our seats 33 years later. Nicolas Cage, Holly Hunter, Frances McDormand, John Goodman, and many others combine to create this tale of love. Of course, don't forget the yodeling.
It is our first episode of Watcha Watchin Wednesday!! This week, Chris talks about his pick McMILLIONS on HBO. Pam's pick is Netflix's GENTEFIED.
So we totally broke Rules 1 and 2 of Fight Club; we spent an hour talking about it. We won't tell anyone if you want to join us. Brad Pitt and Edward Norton start Fight Club for men that want to "feel" something. We have some feelings about it, too. Warning: Spoilers Ahead!! If you haven't seen Fight Club, you might want to watch it first before listening.

Chris and Pam deep dive into that movie that proves that George Clooney would rather float away into space than spend one more minute alone with a woman his age. Tina Fey's Golden Globe joke made us want to go out and see this film. But the excellent film making by Alfonso Cuarón and acting by Sandra Bullock made us watch it over and over again. Join us this week for our discussion about all things space.
It's another throwback to the 80s. This time it is Woody Allen's 1986 film Hannah and Her Sisters. This film is classic neurotic Woody Allen, with some other people thrown in! Did you know Woody Allen's future wife Soon-Yi is in the movie? Listen and find out where you can find her!
This episode of The Movie Bucket List, we deep dive into When Harry Met Sally... from 1989. Remember that fake orgasm scene? Yeah, we do, too, and we discuss it at length, along with all the other differences between men and women. Rob Reiner's directorial telling of Nora Ephron's story is what movie classics are made of. This one might be slightly longer, but it just shows how much we love the movie. Oh and our own When Chris Met Pam... re-telling as well. Grab a drink and send the kids out of the room for this one! "I'll have what she's having."
