Boasberg, of the U.S. District Court for D.C., ordered the Trump Administration to have the planes reverse course and return the detainees to the United States. However, due to the late timing of the order, the Trump Administration followed through with the deportation as planned.

Spinning out of last week's review of The Year Without a Santa Claus, this week we're looking at another classic Rankin/Bass Christmas cartoon that debuted fifty years ago: 'Twas the Night Before Christmas! It's set in the bizarre little town of Junctionville, where humans and mice coexist in a way we can't quite figure out. There we meet a humble clockmaker, a nerdy mouse, a clueless wacky mayor, an egomaniacal vindictive Santa, and a selfish materialistic populace dreaming of a huge Christmas payday, if only their giant musical clock doesn't explode. It's magnificent. We also discuss the whole voice cast, including Jennifer Grey's father, Amanda Plummer's mother, one of the Bad News Bears, Franken Berry, Twinkie the Kid, and (according to Wikipedia) an "owl-faced, portly character actor." This week on Cinemaholics, Jon Negroni and Will Ashton take a real hard look at Jesse Eisenberg's A Real Pain, a film tackling generational trauma, identity crises, and the age-old question: are we in a Kieran Culkin Kierannaissance? We chat about its awards buzz, a Holocaust scene that's somehow pivotal and memorable, and the performances that make all the pain worth it. Plus, we break down the movie's balancing act between humor and heavy themes. A Real Pain was directed, written, and produced by Jesse Eisenberg. The cast includes Eisenberg himself, alongside Kieran Culkin, Will Sharpe, Jennifer Grey, and others, with Emma Stone and Dave McCary serving as producers under their Fruit Tree banner. Premiering at the Sundance Film Festival on January 20, 2024, the film later saw a limited theatrical release in the United States on November 1 through Searchlight Pictures. It has a 90-minute runtime. Links: Email your feedback for the show to cinemaholicspodcast [at] gmail.com Join our Discord and chat with us! We have a Cinemaholics channel here. La folle journée de Ferris Bueller (Ferris Bueller's Day Off), John Hughes, 1986

Travelling - La 1ere

The technology nostalgia is aging us today, lil Onions. This week, we go down another rabbit hole of information technology and artificial intelligence in the suprisingly dated film, War Games (1983). In addition to the archaic methods of hacking and computer science in this film, Ross is also deeply affected by the existence of Matthew Broderick. Carie cautions listeners about the dangers of becoming complacent and apathetic in the face of destruction. There's a special appreciation for a previous generation who lived every day with the threat of a breakdown of society, and the siblings have a conversation about a hypotetical scenario involving themselves, Matthew Broderick, and Jennifer Grey escaping the Earth in an escape pod.  SUPPORT US ON PATREON!
