This week we are talking about bands that have rock stars in them: Supergroups and Offshoots. Captain Content reminds us that a band consisting of well-known artists from other bands does not always equal great success. We dive into some of the more obscure supergroups and offshoots that didn't break with huge mainstream success or stay around very long. What is it we do here at InObscuria? Every show Kevin opens the crypt to exhume and dissect from his personal collection; an artist, album, or collection of tunes from the broad spectrum of rock, punk, and metal. This week we talk exclusively about Supergroups featuring famous solo artists and band members along with, Offshoots which are bands that contain the bulk of a previous incarnation of a famous band. We hope that we turn you on to something new.Songs this week include:Neurotic Outsiders – “Nasty Ho” from Neurotic Outsiders (1996)Thrasher – “Bad Boys” from Thrasher (1985)Heavy Bones – “4:AM T-M” from Heavy Bones (1991)Ultra Bomb – “Time To Burn” from Time To Burn (2022)Saints Of The Underground - “Tomorrow Never Comes” from Love The Sin, Hate The Sinner (2008)Mad Season – “Lifeless Dead” from Above (1995)Far Corporation – “Stairway To Heaven” from Division One (1985)Please subscribe everywhere that you listen to podcasts!Visit us: https://inobscuria.com/https://www.facebook.com/InObscuriahttps://x.com/inobscuriahttps://www.instagram.com/inobscuria/Buy cool stuff with our logo on it!: https://www.redbubble.com/people/InObscuria?asc=uIf you'd like to check out Kevin's band THE SWEAR, take a listen on all streaming services or pick up a digital copy of their latest release here: https://theswear.bandcamp.com/If you want to hear Robert and Kevin's band from the late 90s – early 00s BIG JACK PNEUMATIC, check it out here: https://bigjackpnuematic.bandcamp.com/Check out Robert's amazing fire sculptures and metal workings here: http://flamewerx.com/

When faith collides with the hard truths of law enforcement, the journey is profound. Join me as I sit down with Sheriff Chuck Wright of Spartanburg County, a figure of strength and a testament to the transformation that a Christ-centered life can bring. Chuck isn't just a lawman; he's a beacon in our community, guiding us through his personal evolution from a 'weekend Christian' to a beacon of spiritual leadership. This heart-to-heart is a rare glimpse into how prayer, scripture, and a dedication to family can reshape a life, and consequently, impact the community at large, especially as we grapple with the pervasive issue of illegal drugs and the scourge of substances like fentanyl reaching our streets from unsecured borders. And then there's the opioid crisis—more than a headline, it's a reality that's tearing at the fabric of our homes right here in Spartanburg County. Through candid conversation, Sheriff Wright and I address the chilling ease with which addiction can take hold, often in the innocent aftermath of surgery or trauma. We share personal anecdotes and practical wisdom on managing prescription medications responsibly and turning to prayer and over-the-counter options as alternatives. For those entangled in the grip of addiction, there's a message of hope: our local detention center's support programs and the power of community and faith to nurture recovery. As Sheriff Wright spearheads his re-election campaign, it's clear that healing our county runs much deeper than upholding the law—it's about healing souls.https://www.jacksonfamilyministry.comhttps://bobslone.com/home/podcast-production/

Chuck Wright is an American bassist, songwriter, singer, music producer, and live event producer, best known as a long-time member of the multi-platinum Heavy Metal band Quiet Riot. He originally worked with Quiet Riot in 1982, playing bass on the tracks "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" and "Don't Wanna Let You Go," as well as singing background vocals on all of the tracks from the 1983 multi-platinum album Metal Health. The album spawned the first-ever #1 Metal album on Billboards Hot 100 and changed the fabric of the music as it was known then. Wright's career in mainstream rock first took off when he joined Giuffria in 1984. Their debut album produced the hit single, "Call to the Heart" (Hot 100 #15) in 1985. After sold-out arena tours with Deep Purple and Foreigner, Wright left Giuffria to re-join Quiet Riot in 1986, to record and compose songs for their QRIII release and supporting world tour. His reputation as one of the most sought-after bass players has landed him working alongside music icons Alice Cooper, Slash, Gene Simmons, Gregg Allman, Carmine Appice, Ronnie Montrose, John Waite, and Pat Travers. Wright has appeared on over 100 worldwide record releases, playing bass and producing albums of various styles, including Ambient Trance, Reggae, Rap, Country, and of course Rock. He was also involved in seven film scores, including Kull the Conqueror, where he was joined by Guns N' Roses drummer Matt Sorum and the London Philharmonic Orchestra. Over the years, Wright also worked with House Of Lords, Bad Moon Rising, Blackthorne, Christian Tolle Project, Doro, Impellitteri, Kuni, MSG, Magdalen, Murderer's Row, Pata, Stephen Pearcy of Ratt, Adler's Appetite, Love/Hate, Ken Tamplin, and Shane Gibson from Korn and many others. Wright is the creator of Ultimate Jam Night, a long-running bi-monthly live music show established in January 2015 at the Whisky A Go-Go in West Hollywood. Ultimate Jam Night features up to 80 pro musicians each week. Wright also continues to perform live with Legends Of Classic Rock, as well as his Los Angeles eclectic local group Acoustic Saints. My guest today is Chuck Wright. We hit the ground running, talking about his new album, Chuck Wright's Sheltering Sky. It's an impressive piece of work with 41 guest musicians on it! It also contains a wide variety of styles and genres, reflecting his own musical career. Chuck reveals some very strange coincidences with this album. And he admits that this album is 100% a result of being in lockdowns. We also get into Chuck's history, like how getting a bass changed his career path from the military to musician, his favorite bass players and what they all have incommon, and how he started playing with Quiet Riot, at a very important juncture in music history. Chuck is really proud of this new album, and he should be. But he's already working on his next project and new bands. He's got a Field Of Dreams attitude towards touring for Sheltering Sky. He says, if they want it, he will come. But between new music and the Ultimate Jam Night residency at the Whiskey A Go Go, he doesn't have a lot of free time. Chuck Wright is today's guest. When Chuck is not fighting crime by night, he is best known as the bassist from Quiet Riot!   Thank you for being here with me, Bruce Hilliard and today's guest Chuck Wright, to talk about his new and first solo album, or project as he refers to it, Chuck Wright's Sheltering Sky. Chuck is proud and excited to release his debut solo album, Sheltering Sky, on Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records, on May 20.   The album features guest appearances by several of Wright's musical peers including keyboardist Derek Sherinian (Dream Theater/Billy Idol), guitarist Lanny Cordola (House of Lords), vocalist Jeff Scott Soto (Yngwie Malmsteen), Troy Luccketta (Tesla) and the late Mr. Big drummer, Pat Torpey. The album's 11 tracks also illustrate Wright's impressive songwriting ability as he either wrote or co-wrote all nine original songs on the album.  Also included is an edgy, intense version of Bjork's “Army of Me” along with a soulful, Celtic-rock take on the The Youngbloods classic, “Darkness, Darkness.”  Chuck also produced and engineered most of the album. Sheltering Sky exhibits a diversity and breadth of musical styles that embraces facets of Wright's hard rock legacy while also delving into a more varied side of Chuck's musical vision with well-written songs that feature ethereal guitar work, tasteful, soulful 70s era influences, Prog, Jazz Fusion and even a bit of heavy funk.  Besides his usual outstanding bass work as performed on a variety of different bass instruments, Wright also contributes on keys and acoustic guitar on several tracks. The new single from Sheltering Sky is Throwin' Stones, a fierce and passionate call for the end of armed conflict, a call which couldn't be more perfectly timed for today's world.  It features a heavy funk groove that emphasizes Wright's powerhouse playing and the various playing techniques for which he is known.

We had a great conversation with the amazing Chuck Wright. We talked about many things from music, sacrifices, his time with the iconic rock band Quiet Riot, his story, he told some really great stories to a whole lot more!Chuck is proud and excited to release his debut solo album, Sheltering Sky, on Los Angeles-based Cleopatra Records, on May 20. Also included is an edgy, intense version of Bjork's “Army of Me” along with a soulful, Celtic-rock take on the The Youngbloods classic, “Darkness, Darkness.” Chuck also produced and engineered most of the album.Sheltering Sky exhibits a diversity and breadth of musical styles that embraces facets of Wright's hard rock legacy while also delving into a more varied side of Chuck's musical vision with well-written songs that feature ethereal guitar work, tasteful, soulful 70s era influences, Prog, Jazz Fusion and even a bit of heavy funk. It features a heavy funk groove that emphasizes Wright's powerhouse playing and the various playing techniques for which he is known.Wright is best known as a long-time member of multi-platinum heavy metal band Quiet Riot. He originally joined Quiet Riot in 1981, playing bass on the tracks "Metal Health (Bang Your Head)" and "Don't Wanna Let You Go," as well as singing background vocals on all tracks from the 1983 multi-platinum album Metal Health, which was the first metal album to ever reach #1 on the Billboard 200 chart (in November 1983).He performed, toured the world, and recorded with Quiet Riot on-and-off for 26 years…recording nine albums with the band, before departing the band again. As of now, he is no longer a member of Quiet Riot as he concentrates on his solo career and new album.Wright is featured in the documentary Quiet Riot – Well Now You're Here, directed and produced by Regina Russell. Bassist and composer Chuck Wright may not have a name you instantly recognize, but you've heard his music before. Chuck was in Quiet Riot and played and sang on some of that band's biggest hits and albums. He was also in the band Giuffria, which had a major hit single in the mid-80s called "Call to the Heart." He's played with everyone from Alice Cooper to Gregg Allman to John Waite to Eddie Money, as well as members of Guns N'Roses, Dream Theater, KISS, Skid Row, and Mr. Big. Now Chuck has a new solo project called Chuck Wright's Sheltering Sky, with a debut album scheduled for early 2022 and a new single out right now. "Army of Me" is a Bjork cover, which is unexpected, but it's great. Chuck spoke with me about the single, the album, the 30+ guest musicians he enlisted, his time in Quiet Riot and Giuffria, and so much more. Check out Chuck's work and get updates on the new album at ChuckWright.com.  Reminder: You can support independent podcasting by becoming a Michael's Record Collection Patreon subscriber starting at only $2 per month (50 cents an episode...or less!) at the MRC Patreon page. Frustrado, DuBrow empieza a mandar cartas a bandas metaleras nuevas en Los Ángeles sabiendo que su éxito era en parte debido a su éxito "ennow that their success was in part owed to the past successes of Quiet Riot". La banda lanzó Down to the Bone ese mismo año. Guns / Brides of Destruction.
