When RAM was an interview show, we on occasion extended that to the "Indie Spotlight". Whenever an indie band impressed us above and beyond, we liked giving them a moment in the Hot Seat as well. So since Aaron is going to be sharing a stage with symphonic metal band Eden On Fire this summer, we figured we'd do just that. We're stoked to speak to vocalist Amy Gould and introduce them to our listeners. Give them a listen. In our "News, Views and Tunes", we discuss the Pope's playlist and review the new Alice Cooper (Band) reunion track. Musically, we crank D.O.A., (Algy Ward's) Tank, Pentagram (Chile), Frantic Amber, The Anti-Queens and Witchspell. Horns up!

Biden reiterated a statement from the FDIC and Treasury Department during public remarks Monday morning, telling reporters that the federal government would guarantee depositors at the banks access to their funds. He added that no such protection is being offered to the banks' investors, however. His administration has also fired the leadership at both banks. "No losses will be borne by the taxpayers," Biden emphasized. "Instead, the money will come from the fees that banks pay into the deposit insurance fund. Because of the actions that our regulators have already taken, every American should feel confident that their deposits will be there if and when they need them." Biden went on to call on Congress to pass legislation to "strengthen rules" on banks to prevent failures like SVB and Signature.The Santa Clara, California-based band collapsed last week and is now under the control of federal regulators. The SVB had been the 16th-largest bank in the U.S. prior to the bank run that led to its downfall. Anxious depositors rushed to withdraw their money over concern for the bank’s health, causing its collapse, which may serve as "an extinction-level event for startups," according to Y Combinator CEO Garry Tan. The Biden administration had earlier assured SVB depositors that they would have access to all of their funds on Sunday. The joint statement from the Treasury Department, Federal Reserve and the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) also emphasized that the action would come at no cost to US taxpayers. "Today we are taking decisive actions to protect the U.S. economy by strengthening public confidence in our banking system," the joint statement said. "This step will ensure that the U.S. banking system continues to perform its vital roles of protecting deposits and providing access to credit to households and businesses in a manner that promotes strong and sustainable economic growth." Biden delivered his Monday remarks in a short briefing before traveling to California, where he is set to announce the sale of nuclear submarines to Australia. https://dailycaller.com/2023/03/13/biden-desantis-florida-transgender-kids-sinful-national-law/ ‘Close To Sinful’: Biden Floats Possibility Of Nation-Wide Transgender Law President Joe Biden appeared to criticize Ron DeSantis on his handling of transgender youth and floated the possibility of a nation-wide transgender law in an interview clip released Monday. “What’s going on in Florida, is as my mother would say, ‘close to sinful.’ I mean, it’s just terrible what they’re doing,” Biden said while speaking with actor Kal Penn. Kal Penn previews interview with Biden, discusses guest-hosting "The Daily Show"-Play 2:12-2:56 DeSantis has led an administration-wide effort to ban sex change treatments for minors. He has said doctors should be sued for performing sex changes on children and suspended a state attorney refusing to adhere to the child sex change ban. DeSantis also requested public universities report how many students they treated for “gender dysphoria,” and in October, the Florida Board of Medicine voted to ban sex change surgeries and hormone therapy for children under 18. Dylan Mulvaney, a man who identifies as a woman and has garnered attention on social media for using hyper-feminine stereotypes, asked Biden in October if he thinks states should “have the right” to ban “gender-affirming health care.” “I don’t think any state or anybody should have the right to do that, as a moral question and a legal question,” Biden responded. “I just think it’s wrong,” Biden added. “I feel very, very strongly that you should have every single solitary right, including, including use of your gender identity bathroom in public.” https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/videos/women-now-binge-drinking-more-than-men-for-first-time-in-history-doctor-warns Women now binge drinking more than men for first time in history, doctor warns For the first time in history, women are outpacing men in binge drinking, which is a growing concern among health officials as overall drinking for young adults is on the rise. As the pandemic came to an end, they seem to be drinking more than ever. In 2020, during the pandemic, we saw a continuing decline in binge drinking among college-age students. Most were isolated or at home as classes moved online. Group activities or parties where drinking would be prevalent simply were not happening. “In 2021, there has been an uptick, particularly among women. Now it turns out on college campuses women are actually binge drinking more than men, for the first time in history,” said Dr. George F. Koob, director of the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism. Koob said while drinking overall was down during the pandemic, deaths associated with alcohol were up 25% for not just college students but the general population. Koob believes isolation contributed to mental health problems and substance abuse across the board. However, now we’re back. People are going to parties, and colleges and bars are open again. Restaurants are serving bottomless brunch, and wineries and breweries are ready to pour. “It’s what we call the alcohol deprivation effect. People tend to really rebound in drinking after a period of not drinking.” Koob said. “We are a little concerned that this spring and spring break is going to be a return to a good amount of binge drinking. I just want to caution everyone that when you start hitting the binge drinking level you start doing really bad things to your body.” So, where does this leave this new group of women who are binge drinking more than ever before? Koob said knowing what a standard drink is and your limit is important to taking care of your health. As social media trends encourage dangerous “hacks” to binge drinking, including the viral “BORGs” or “blackout rage gallons” which combine water, electrolytes, and vodka, TikTok is specifically pushing the misconception that this drink will keep you hydrated while drinking copious amounts of liquor. https://nypost.com/2023/03/12/fight-among-200-brawlers-at-louisiana-hs-ends-in-10-arrests/ Massive fight among 200 students, parents at Louisiana high school ends in 10 arrests An explosive fight at a Louisiana high school among nearly 200 students and parents ended with several cops injured and at least 10 arrests. Swarms of police officers responded early March 8 to a “major campus disturbance” at East Baton Rouge Readiness Alternative School, finding a loaded gun abandoned on the ground, WBRZ reported. Officials say one fight broke out and escalated, spilling out into the school’s courtyard and gym. By the time police arrived, there were about 200 people involved in brawls across the campus. Videos of the chaos taken inside the school’s gym show chairs getting tossed and students being detained by law enforcement. One shocking video shows a sheriff’s deputy forcefully hitting a student’s face into a brick wall. The officer was trying to arrest a 17-year-old student, authorities said. Police said the teen had punched the officer in the face and tried to bite him, which led to the aggressive encounter captured on video. The teen was among those charged with battery on an officer and resisting arrest. Officials have not yet determined what triggered the massive melee at the school, which enrolls students who’ve been previously suspended or expelled from other district schools. The NAACP released a statement Wednesday saying it was reviewing videos from the incident to decide if the aggressive police response captured on video was appropriate. The fight allegedly started with a small group of students but escalated into a larger clash involving parents and students fighting police as well. One witness told WBRZ the brawl erupted when a girl who wasn’t a student at the school and her mom showed up to fight another girl — and that it escalated from there. Students were allegedly locked inside the gym during the fight. One responding police officer sustained injuries including a broken hip and head lacerations. Also among those arrested were three students charged with battery on a police officer, a felony. Five other students were arrested for disturbing the peace, including an 18-year-old girl who was arrested on counts of unlawful disruption of the operation of a school and resisting arrest, and a 17-year-old girl hit with disturbing the peace and resisting arrest. All of those arrested were students between 15 and 18. None of the parents or other adults at the scene were taken into custody. David Libert transports us on his rockin' roller coaster ride with the original Alice Cooper Band, Alice Cooper, George Clinton, Parliament Funkadelic, The Runaways, Cherie Currie, “Supermensch” Shep Gordon, Prince, Sheila E, Guns N' Roses, The Happenings, Living Colour, Vanilla Fudge, Bootsy Collins, The Tokens, Brian Auger, and more!As a road manager, artist manager, musician, songwriter, record producer, and booking agent, Libert shares vivid tales from the inner circle of the music industry: on the road, backstage, on private jets, and inside the notorious after-parties with music legends in the era of free-spirit, hard-driving rock ‘n roll and R&B. It's life on the road in technicolor.David Libert had such a long and interesting career in the music business, his friends encouraged him to write a book about it…so he did. The result is an autobiography 50-plus years in the making aptly entitled Rock and Roll Warrior, recently released on Sunset Blvd Books. It's a chronicle of David's inner circle life in the music industry as a popular international performer, singer/songwriter, tour manager, booking agent, producer, and drug dealer on the Sunset Strip. It's a story so wild, so crazy, so over-the-top that it can only be true. You can't make this stuff up!In his book, he shares with the reader (and with you) unvarnished, no-holds-barred, stories of his life in the rock ‘n roll fast lane on the road, backstage, on private jets and inside notorious after-show parties with music legends in the era of free-spirit, hard driving rock ‘n' roll and R&B. It's life on the road in technicolor. A roller coaster ride peek behind the curtain at the good, the bad and the ugly in the music biz of years gone by.The book is a riotous, humorous, intimate, provocative story of Libert's life in music. He has absolutely no qualms about sharing stories of all aspects of his life that will amaze, titillate, impress, and endear him to those who read his fascinating life journey in music. From his tenure as co-lead singer of 60s pop hitmakers, The Happenings, to his role as tour manager for Alice Cooper's most legendary 70s tours, to managing funk/R&B legend George Clinton and Parliament-Funkadelic to eventually being imprisoned for dealing drugs in L.A.,

Nita Strauss made a name for herself as lead guitarist for the Alice Cooper Band. But she has stepped out on her own with a solo song featuring David Draiman from Disturbed called Dead Inside. THIS IS A HUGE MILESTONE as she made headlines for Billboard magazine stating, "Nita Strauss Is First Solo Woman to Top Mainstream Rock Airplay Chart in Over 30 Years." How does Nita feel about this? You'll hear it straight from her as she sits down on the Shiprocked Cruise and talks with LA Lloyd.
The Rock and Metal Profs: The History and Philosophy of Rock and Metal
In this 2nd episode dedicated to the original shock rocker Alice Cooper, Dr. Lewis covers Alice Cooper the solo artist. After breaking with the Alice Cooper Band, Alice took the name for himself and released the epic "Welcome to my Nightmare" in 1975. Court covers Cooper's catalog, his struggles with alcoholism and the so-called "black-out" albums, his declining health, decision to get clean, and his return to the faith of his father. With a career spanning 5 decades (and still going), Cooper's theatrics, creativity, humor and originality influenced dozens of rock acts in the 1980s and beyond.
The Rock and Metal Profs: The History and Philosophy of Rock and Metal
Court and Matt are back and chomping at the bit in 2022! On this episode of RAMP, the Profs tackle the godfather of shock rock, Alice Cooper. In the late-sixties and early-seventies, the Alice Cooper Band was one of the most influential and notorious rock acts in the world. KISS, the New York Dolls and dozens of theatrical rock bands took their cue from Alice Cooper as he pushed the boundaries of the genre both in terms of presentation and the music. What most people don't know is that Cooper came from a devout Christian family, and that his faith carried him through his struggles with his own personal demons and the pressures of fame and success. His act and persona often appeared at odds with Christianity, and many a critic in the seventies proclaimed Cooper an occultist and Satanist because of themes covered in the music. Never judge a book by its cover! Cooper was and is an entertainer, and the name "Alice Cooper" a clever alias for artistic expression that ultimately won over millions of fans and many detractors worldwide. We hope you enjoy part 1 of our 2 part series on rock pioneer Alice Cooper!

Joe and SteveO welcome Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Drummer Neal Smith from the Alice Cooper Band, who shares his history in the music industry, his success in the real estate industry, his ongoing projects, his love for golf and surfing and his lifelong support of America's war fighters, veterans and families. Having played around the world with Alice Cooper for more than two decades, it’s unsurprising that Ryan Roxie has shared the stage with some legendary names. But in part 2 of our interview, the guitarist left us second guessing some of the big names he claimed to have jammed with. Who, you ask? Find out in a new episode “Tell The Truth (And A Lie)” - an interview series where musicians share two obscure facts about themselves and one fib that could fool even a diehard fan. Matt and Zach then have to use their music knowledge to determine which 2 facts are true and which is a lie. And listen to part 1 of our chat with Ryan in “There Goes My Hero” - where the guitarist discussed what encouraged him to finally launch the System-12 Guitar Method, how Alice Cooper inspired his passion for golf, and what it was like to meet his guitar hero Rick Nielsen of Cheap Trick for the first time (stream here: https://youtu.be/kP1Uuiwg5qo). Ryan Roxie interviews Nita Strauss
Pour notre spécial Halloween on remercie le très généreux don de Pierre-Luc Delisle et on parle du Alice Cooper Band! On boit des tisanes et tout le monde s'appelle Alice!nbsp;
It’s been a long time coming, folks. Hopefully this biographical episode will appease its subject: shock-rocker, golf enthusiast, and our personal demon, Alice Cooper. Learn all about the origins of the Alice Cooper Group, its indefatigable lead singer of the same name, and some surprising friends and events in his life. The man has truly done and seen everything [–please don’t hurt us]. Later, enjoy a quiz entitled “Alices and Coopers”! . . . In part two of our look at bands who carried on when their famous lead singer was no longer part of the group we shine our spotlight on the Billion Dollar Babies and their 1977 album "Battle Axe". The Babies were formally the Alice Cooper Band until Alice departed in 1974.
Put Black Sabbath, Hawkwind, the Alice Cooper Band and the Beatles into a blender, sprinkle in some 70’s horror flicks and you’ll get close to Uncle Acid & the Deadbeats. They took the best elements of all of these influences and channeled through vintage gear and have made four consecutive, pretty perfect records. That run started with 2011’s Blood Lust, a record that was new to Rod and Glenn and Mike couldn’t wait to hear their reactions to these distortion drenched throwback masters. As every hard-rock-and-horror-lovin’ soul knows, there’s a void in the musical fabric that can only be filled by a new Alice Cooper album. Whether the results are a stud or a dud, there’s a shiver of anticipation that runs spider-like down our spines when fresh tunes are spun out from Alice’s web, as we hope to be snagged and drawn up into that dark lair of rage, rancor and riffs that is the mind of Alice Cooper. So it was with the arrival of PARANORMAL in the summer of 2017, coming as it did on the heels of an Alice tour that saw him reunite for a couple of brief, barnstorming sets in Nashville, Tennessee with his cronies from the great Alice Cooper Band. This reunion found its way into the studio to record some tracks, and in addition to the ACB we also have the return of past heroes/enablers/contributors of the Alice legend, producer Bob Ezrin and guitarist Steve Hunter, plus distinctive work from U2 drummer Larry Mullen and the inimitable Billy Gibbons. Be that as it may, on the Coopercast we’ve all seen how having a lot of big-name cooks doesn’t always make for a sumptuous kitchen…the prime ingredient is the song. Did Alice deliver choice cuts for this, his 27th studio album? Well, give your Coopercasters –Bobby Hazzard, the lovely Ms. Hazzard, The Naschycast’s Troy Guinn, and special guest Dr. Gangrene – a listen and we’ll break it all down for you, track-by-track, smack-by-smack, and let you know who emerges triumphant: Alice Cooper or Father Time.
This time around on Coopercast, your hosts Bobby Hazzard, (of Spring Break Forever) his royal consort Ms. Hazzard, and the Naschycast’s Troy Guinn first give you our eyewitness, up close and personal accounts of Alice’s two historic reunion performances with his former Alice Cooper Band cronies in Nashville this past May of 2017. Alice, Dennis, Michael & Neil seem to be having a grand ol’ time together, recording some new material for Alice’s new studio release and getting all of us to cross our fingers in hopes of a full reunion tour. With that in mind, it seemed topical and sensible to do a show that spotlights the time when Alice and the band had freshly parted ways. Alice was taking a path into Nightmare, Hell, asylums and, oh yes: MEGA-STARDOM while mssrs. Dunaway, Smith, and Bruce were just trying to scratch out a place to rock and roll (and dress as robots and fight onstage, as you do) and step out from under Alice’s boozy shadow. The result? The Billion Dollar Babies and their lone opus, BATTLE AXE. Listen in on our examination of the Alice Cooper Band’s hard-to-find post-Alice album, as well as the extra tracks from the sessions. We discuss why the project ultimately failed, how a factor here and there might have helped it succeed, and most importantly, help you decide if YOU should put the time into tracking down this elusive, forgotten effort. Because, as always, we at the Coopercast are your guide to all things ALICE!
It’s never typically a bad thing to hear the words “Alice Cooper” and “concept album” conjoined; after all, the Theatrical One has worked in that long-form genre perhaps more than any popular artist with the possible exception of The Kinks. As we here on COOPERCAST complete our examination of Alice’s studio albums to date, we find him delivering not one but TWO concept-ers. The first, 2008’s ALONG CAME A SPIDER, is such an obvious and natural idea – Alice inhabiting the mind and motivations of a particularly delusional serial killer – it’s surprising it took so long to happen. The second is remarkable for the ballsy-ness of the idea: WELCOME 2 MY NIGHTMARE is nothing less than a sequel to Alice’s career-defining, iconic first solo album. Think of it as though Pink Floyd attempted a sequel to THE WALL, or if The Who had tried a follow-up to QUADROPHENIA and you understand how daring this idea was, and likely to be scrutinized heavier than any of Alice’s previous work. Whether from confidence or from trepidation, Alice invited tons of friends and guest-stars to help on WELCOME 2, everyone from Bob Ezrin & Steve Hunter to Kip Winger, Rob Zombie, members of the original Alice Cooper Band to (shudder) Ke$ha. The proof is on the turntable, however, and do these twin conceptual works achieve immortality, or lay two eggs over easy, or does the truth lies somewhere in between? Well, for the answer to that, kids, you’ll have to listen to this, the COOPERCAST. Spoiler alert: host Bobby Hazzard doesn’t like piano ballads. Joining Bobby is the lovely Ms. Hazzard, physician of fright Doctor Gangrene (wrapping up his stint on COOPERCAST and we wish him well!) and Naschycast’s Troy Guinn. To answer the question you’re dying to ask: Does covering the last Alice album mean the end of COOPERCAST? Not a bit of it. In future episodes, we’ll be delving into other Alice ephemera: live recordings, videos, side musical projects, what have you, including a report on the show from his newest tour!
What did we want from Alice? Well, to be that gleefully sinister, morbidly funny, eternally juvenile perverted tempter of our rock ‘n’ rolling souls again, of course. Maybe this time, without so much self-destructive boozing and drugging. And whether Alice heard us, or just some inner voice, his first two studio albums of the new century, THE EYES OF ALICE COOPER and DIRTY DIAMONDS gives us exactly that! No more Mr. Preachy Industrial Grungy Whatever’s Trending Guy; with these albums, Alice gets back to his roots, and the results, if not instant classics, are pretty satisfying. Some tracks recall the glory days of the Alice Cooper Band and Cooper’s first solo efforts with Bob Ezrin, and like new bassist Chuck Garric, the production’s all lean with very little fat. Best of all, Alice is FUNNY again, with some classic laugh-out-loud lyrics. We’ll even forgive him the “grab for relevancy” by having Xzibit doing a guest spot. Hey, it could have been worse: it could have been Kid Rock. Join your hosts (who gave up on being relevant LONG ago) Bobby Hazzard, the lovely Ms. Hazzard, Physician of Fright Doctor Gangrene, and the Naschycast’s Troy Guinn as we sample both beers and Alice’s welcome return to ROCK AND ROLL!
Swing low, sweet cheerios! That’s essentially what your intrepid, decrepit Coopercasters are doing this time around, as we leave dear old Alice on the precipice of the year 2000, about to embrace the industrial metal age, and take the way-back deep-freezer to the late 60’s when he and his Alice Cooper Band compatriots are changing, arranging and embracing more musical trends than Spinal Tap and managing to sound like everything but the ACB the world would come to love and fear. Join host Bobby Hazzard, his lovely consort Ms. Hazzard, Nashville horror host Dr. Gangrene, and the Naschycast’s Troy Guinn as we examine some garage-rock “nuggets” released by the ACB band when they were known as The Spiders and The Nazz, followed by track-by-track discussions of the first two Alice Cooper Band albums, PRETTIES FOR YOU and EASY ACTION. In these early works, we find a band that can play the sh%t out of anything but thinks their appeal lies in the cult fringes of hippie freakout jams and Zappa-worshippers, and has no idea of the worldwide stardom that awaits them just around the corner…
Bobby and his special guests Dr. Gangrene, Troy from Naschycast, and Ms. Hazzard explore and comment on the Alice Cooper discography. In this episode, they discuss the original Alice Cooper Band and their albums from 1970 - 1974: Love It to Death, Killer, School's Out, Billion Dollar Babies, and Muscle of Love.
Conventional wisdom holds that the birth of the rock star came in 1956 with the ascendance of Elvis Presley. Not so, says author Michael Walker, who argues in his page-turning What You Want is in the Limo (Spiegel and Grau, 2013) that in 1973 the Elvis, Chuck Berry and Beatles styled “rock and roll stardom” of the fifties and sixties gave way to “modern rock stardom,” as embodied by the members of Led Zeppelin, the Alice Cooper Band, and the Who. This new way of living and performing came into full bloom that year as these legendary groups toured America in a manner that bore little resemblance to the everybody-jam-in-the-van cross-country rock tours of prior years. With what Walker calls “the infrastructure” of rock stardom now in place, private jets and black limousines whisked these musicians from luxury hotels to cavernous arenas where they performed in front of monstrous crowds. When it was time to wind down after the show, these stars enjoyed the benefits of a “halter-topped, lude-dropping coke-and-glitter-flecked” rock culture that fetishized depravity and provided riches previously unheard of in the music business. While Walker’s addictive and fun book provides the kind of sordid and hedonistic details that are the makings of all great rock biographies, he also offers up the morality play corrective that demonstrates the costs of this manner of living. Alice Cooper later conceded that his record-breaking 1973 tour “wrecked” his band, which broke up soon after. For Led Zeppelin, the years following 1973 saw the band enter a “creative funk that stoke[d] rumors that the band is cursed.” The Who, Walker writes, departed “the decade after a pair of desultory albums.” But before the fall, these musicians threw one hell of a yearlong party.
