Fáilte ar ais chuig eagrán nua de Ar An Lá Seo ar an 13ú lá de mí an Mhárta, liomsa Lauren Ní Loingsigh. I 1979 bhí agóid ag tarlú timpeall an tír de bharr nach raibh daoine sásta faoin gcóras PAYE. I 1985 tháinig Justice Minister Michael Noonan amach ag rá go raibh cogadh ag tarlú I gcoinne na hamhas a bhí taobh thiar de na ionsaí ar na sean daoine sa tír. I 1958 tháinig scoil I Scariff amach ar barr nuair a bhí siad in iomaíocht le cúpla scoil eile ag an Clare Drama Festival. I 1985 tháinig President Hillery chuig Cill Rois ar an lá seo agus bhí a lán daoine sásta faoi. Tháinig sé chuig an chontae de bharr go raibh sé céad bhliain ónar bhí an chéad rialtas sa bhaile. Sin Gloria Gaynor le I Will Survive – an t-amhrán is mó ar an lá seo I 1979. Ag lean ar aghaidh le nuacht cheoil ar an lá seo I 1993 chuaigh Eric Clapton chuig uimhir a haon lena albam Unplugged. Rinne sé taifead ar an albam os comhair daoine sa Bhreatain. Dhíol sé níos mó ná 10 milliúin cóip. I 1999 shroich Cher uimhir a haon ar an Billboard Hot 100 lena amhrán Believe. Tháinig an t-amhrán óna albam den ainm céanna. Chuaigh an t-amhrán chuig uimhir a haon I 19 tír éagsúla. Agus ar deireadh breithlá daoine cáiliúla ar an lá seo rugadh aisteoir William Macy I 1950 I Meiriceá agus rugagh aisteoir Lindsay Lohan I Nua Eabhrac ar an lá seo I 1986 agus seo chuid de na rudaí a rinne sí. Welcome to an episode that's a bit different.  Today, there are four of us talking and sharing experiences from the perspective of Foreign Service life – mainly as spouses and one contractor.  If you happened to listen to episode 162 which was about fitness, you may recognize these amazing women – Hillery Midkiff, Susie Csorsz Brown, and Morgan Loosli.  The four of us all met while living and working Sri Lanka, starting back in 2020.  At this point, I am now living in the US, Hillery and Susie are still in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and Morgan and her family are living in Shanghai. We recorded this conversation in the spring of 2024, and it got lost in my folders, so hence the delay in publication.  As I listened to it recently, I appreciated the stories and decided it needed to be released into the wild!IF you are not connected with the Foreign Service, a warning that there are a number of acronyms that you will hear and likely not understand.  The most frequent one is probably EFM which stands for Eligible Family Member – the term given to spouses and children who are considered dependents of Foreign Service Officers.  Susie, Morgan, and I are in the role of EFMs.  Hillery is a contracted officer and her husband is an EFM.  Other than that, I think you'll be able to follow just fine despite the other acronyms. We are talking about careers, finding professional fulfillment, and unique challenges that are associated with living and moving internationally.  Sometimes in countries where we have permission to work in the local economy, and sometimes in countries where we do not have permission to work locally.  A certain number of jobs exist at our US Embassies and Consulates that are specific for EFM employment – Susie and Morgan will share about some of their experiences in those positions.  I have chosen to develop my own business and have also worked on a part-time basis as a trainer for the Foreign Service Institute, the training center for the US Department of State.  Susie, Morgan, Hillery – thank you for this conversation.  Thanks for sharing the ups and downs and realities of this interesting life we live.  I'm super grateful for your friendships and how we stay connected across the globe!  (And quick note that Hillery does indeed drop the F bomb at one point in our conversation, so it's marked explicit.  She'll appreciate the shoutout for that.  You are welcome, Hillery!!)And with that, let me turn this over to our conversation that is graciously hosted by Susie.Make Life Less Difficult

One of her great talents, in my opinion, is her ability to mix the qualities of elegance, something that's been a hallmark of southern homes for decades, with a feeling of energy. In other words, she is able to combine youthfulness with wisdom and grace, as well as a maximalist's penchant for detail with the sensibilities of minimalism. Tony founded Harlem Grown to address the health and academic challenges facing public elementary school students in Harlem. In 2011, Tony began volunteering with a local elementary school and was witnessing first-hand the lack of resources allocated to the schools and the poor nutrition of students. He noticed an abandoned and overrun community garden across the street from the school. Tony rallied volunteers and raised the funds needed to transform the lot into a thriving urban farm, kicking off Harlem Grown's first-ever growing season. The first year, Tony worked with 400 students to plant 400 seedlings. He watched as students transformed their eating habits and learned skills like patience, teamwork, and responsibility. The first season, they grew 38 lbs of produce. Six years later, in 2017, Harlem Grown has expanded to partner with five local Harlem schools, reached over 4,900 youth, composted over 20,000 lbs of food scraps and grew over 5,400 pounds of fruits and vegetables that are then distributed to families-in-need throughout the community. His work in the community has impacted more than just the youth, Tony has done his part to help transform Harlem community through the power of growing food and building healthy relationships. Understanding the use of cloud, its context, and how things are quickly changing is top of mind for many companies today. Safety of information and management of risks are paramount when trying to keep up with the changes, while also making sure to not slow down important and necessary workflows. When it comes to compliance and security, Hillery Hunter has visibility across the challenges and success of some of the largest companies across multiple industries. In this episode, we interview the GM of Industry Clouds and Solutions and  CTO at IBM Cloud to learn more about storing sensitive data in the cloud. Hillery explains how radical cloud models can work to your advantage, including co-design and approaching compliance as a group. During the discussion, she names some challenges of cloud adoption, then describes how to overcome those barriers. Hillery also describes the best cloud adoption practices she's seen over the course of her career, and why these transformations are so important to the success of a business. ---------Key Quotes:“It's not just whether or not somebody has a cloud certification, right? It's the context in which they're doing their work and it's the skills of the CISO organization, it's the skill of the risk management organization, et cetera, in understanding the cloud context and how all those things are changing and have to be measured differently as well.”“Make sure that public cloud is an appropriate landing place even for the most sensitive data.  It is possible to take this security and compliance and put it into structured programs and ways of protecting things on the cloud. So that all of these inherent barriers to adoption can be overcome.”“When the metric is too narrow, and placed only on the IT organization for the outcomes of a cloud migration, you miss the opportunity to be talking about end to end value creation… When you're doing that, then everyone understands that the cloud migration and digital transformation is in service of a higher level objective, and it's not just trying to save money on the HR system or something else like that.”“When you make a public cloud choice, industry cloud contextualizes the requirements of that industry. It includes things like security and compliance, and enables the public cloud to be a safe enough and compliant enough place for you to grab other content that lives there. It also allows you to move your data there and trust that you are still upholding your responsibilities.”---------Time stamps:2:00 Barriers to cloud adoption3:00 Managing security and controls4:50 Cloud migration pitfalls5:20 Cloud adoption can be transformative7:30 Committees can lead a successful cloud deployment9:50 Creating an objective for cloud adoption11:20 Making the cloud a safe space for data13:20 Dealing with disruptors15:15 Exploring what's available in cloud17:00 Establishing trust in the industry19:40 Taking it to the board20:40 Future opportunities for cloud---------Links:Hillery Hunter on LinkedIn: https://www.linkedin.com/in/hillery-hunter-97962a14/CIO Exchange on Twitter: https://twitter.com/vmwcioexchangeYadin Porter de León on Twitter: https://twitter.com/porterdeleon [Subscribe to the Podcast] On Apple Podcast: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/cio-exchange-podcast/id1498290907 For more podcasts, video and in-depth research go to https://www.vmware.com/cio---------Keywords: cio, cio exchange, VMware, innovation, leadership, DevOps, Developer, operations, IT, information technology, business, technology, cto, cloud, public cloud, privacy, security, cloud adoption

Today's episode is brought to you by Tableau, an industry leader committed to enabling 10 million people with data skills over the next five years.   As part of our Tableau series on the importance of data skills in education, and more specifically for BIPOC students, your host Ralph Newell sits down with Vanessa G. Leon from the University of Texas El Paso's College of Business Administration and Allen Hillery, vice president of communities and impact at Data Stories.   Hear from Leon, who is responsible for overseeing the partnerships and programming for three of the college's corporate academies and is kicking off their data skills journey. Hillery empowers people and communities around the world to eliminate misinformation and create positive change using words, data, and visualizations.   Don't miss this informative discussion on the necessity of data literacy, why students of color got left behind in data science, and the immediate need to bring data skills into education.   KEY POINTS: - What is data and how is it used by companies and organizations? - Why is data science so important for BIPOC students? - How to bring data literacy into K-12 education and communities - Supporting BIPOC students in fields where there is little to no representation  - The importance of business intelligence and communication skills - Tableau's initiatives to help their students “catch up” in data science    QUOTABLES: “It's also educating the students because half of the challenge is seeing yourself. A lot of times you don't see yourself, so you don't understand what you could be there.” “What's been opening doors for us in a lot of fields are alumni. There's always that one student that did not think that they could get a job at Microsoft, right, but they land that job. And now they become an advocate.”   GUEST RESOURCES: Tableau: Business Intelligence and Analytics Software Data Stories: Home | DataStories a Partners in Performance Company   PRODUCTS / RESOURCES: Watch this video and others on our YouTube channel: youtube.com/user/Diversediversedivers Visit the Diverse: Issues In Higher Education website: diverseeducation.com Or follow us on social media: Twitter: twitter.com/diverseissues Instagram: instagram.com/diverseissuesinhighereducation Facebook: facebook.com/DiverseIssuesInHigherEducation/ Linkedin: linkedin.com/company/diverse-issues-in-higher-education Transcription services are available upon request. Today's episode is part three of a four-part series with Speaker Sisterhood club leaders and members. I put this series together for you because I'm always asked how Speaker Sisterhood is different than Toastmasters, why it's only for women, and what you learn if you sign up. On today's show, I interview Jennifer Cummings Hillery, Speaker Sisterhood member and club leader. Jen shares that she originally checked out Speaker Sisterhood because her friend was starting a club in her community and she wanted to see what it was all about. When she arrived, she was surprised by what she found. That was three years ago and she is still a member of that club and has run her own club for over two years. Listen as Jen talks about her fears around showing emotion while speaking and how she deals with that today, what she has learned about practice, why listening is important, and how being part of a supportive community has helped her on her speaking journey. If you'd like to check out Jen's club, you can do so here. We also have a brand new program called Speaker Sisterhood Express and registration is open until February 24th! It's an accelerated public speaking training program you can participate in from the comfort of your own couch. New clubs are launching in March and they are limited to 10 women per club. Learn more about Speaker Sisterhood Express and register here. More about my guest: Jennifer Cummings Hillery is a lawyer, an active volunteer in her community and a published writer. As an attorney, Jennifer was recognized for her writing skills and oral advocacy. After taking a break from the legal world, Jennifer has found great fulfillment volunteering and serving on the boards of various not-for-profit organizations, political campaigns, and as an elected Town Meeting Member. She was recently awarded an "Outstanding Service Award" from her Alma mater, Skidmore College. Her community involvement has solidified her belief that anything is possible when committed, hardworking, thoughtful individuals come together to support a common goal. She is honored that two of her Speaker Sisterhood club speeches are included in the Speaker Sisterhood compilation book, “Secrets of the Sisterhood: 45 Stories of Love, Truth and Power.” Jennifer loves spending time with her family – husband, three children, two cats, and a dog – who constantly remind her of the joy that exists in all the little things in life. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/claim-the-stage-podcast/support

Ideal Para Llevarte O Regalar Productos Del Podcats De Ivoox. Frustrado, DuBrow empieza a mandar cartas a bandas metaleras nuevas en Los Ángeles sabiendo que su éxito era en parte debido a su éxito "ennow that their success was in part owed to the past successes of Quiet Riot". La banda lanzó Down to the Bone ese mismo año. Guns / Brides of Destruction. As I have seen it do with Allison. This episode will inspire you to see your own challenges as classrooms, and your heart as the most powerful anchor there is.You can find out more about Allison on instagram and Facebook.

**Diaspora: from the Greek word diaspeirein "to scatter about, disperse," from dia "about, across" + speirein "to scatter".** The word "diaspora" was not used in the Irish context until Mary Robinson did so, powerfully sending a message about the global Irish community and the pain felt at both ends of the split of emigration. But 28 years later, is the term still apt? In the final part of our Uachtarán Trilogy, Darach talks to Peadar and Gearóidín about how presidents have presented Ireland to the world. As well as Professor Robinson's iconic light in the window, they look at Douglas Hyde's careful neutrality, Hillery's moment as Germany's Doctor Dishy and McAleese's bridge building. Inevitably this leads to a discussion of Saoirse Ronan's "Brooklyn", sentimental 80s ads and suitable judo wear. The opinions of Peadar Ó Caomhanaigh are not the opinions of Headstuff, its shareholders, sponsors, staff, advertisers, past or future investors or associates. --- Contact the show at https://twitter.com/motherfocloir or email us at motherfocloir@headstuff.org.

This week on the podcast we’re running a series of shows consisting of conversations with some of the impressive speakers from an event called the AI Summit in New York City. The theme of the conference, and the series, is AI in the Enterprise, and I think you’ll find it really interesting in that it includes a mix of both technical and case-study-oriented discussions. My guest for this first show in the series is, Hillery Hunter, IBM Fellow & Director of the Accelerated Cognitive Infrastructure group at IBM’s T.J. Watson Research Center. Hillery and I met a few weeks back in New York and I'm really glad that we were able to get her on the show. Hillery joins us to discuss her team's research into distributed deep learning, which was recently released as the PowerAI Distributed Deep Learning Communication Library or DDL. In my conversation with Hillery, we discuss the purpose and technical architecture of the DDL, it’s ability to offer fully synchronous distributed training of deep learning models, the advantages of its Multi-Ring Topology, and much more. This is for sure a nerd alert pod, especially for the performance and hardware geeks among us . Be sure post any feedback or questions you may have to the show notes page, which you’ll find at twimlai.com/talk/77. For more info on this series, visit twimlai.com/aisummit
