Do garden rooms add value to your house? What are the red flags when researching? Things we never knew we needed to know! How you can create an income from your property by building an annexe or a garden room As well as hearing some of Jon's story as a business owner, from an employed finance role in the City to building garden rooms for one of the most well respected brands in the industry This is an episode not to be missed! Jon said “I'm Jon, Founder of Hawksbeck Annexes and Garden Rooms. I set up Hawksbeck because there was a real need for people to have a space away from the house to work, rest and play. We have been a pioneer in annex and garden room space, building bespoke outbuildings that will last a lifetime. All our buildings are built to the highest standard using BBA accredited materials. They are design by architects and engineers and meet building regulations. Therefore, they are fully habitable and come with a 10-year insurance backed warranty. I name the company Hawksbeck, as that was my first dogs pedigree name. I absolutely love the dog, and absolutely love the name, so seemed perfect fit to name the company after him. I'm proud that name has now become synonymous with quality, service, and design. I'm passionate about what I do. I love the first meeting with the client, being involved in the design journey with them, overseeing the built process, then they joy and excitement when we handover the keys to a stunning finish product. I often get asked my favourite project, it is always the next project we're about to do. No two builds are the same, no two clients are the same!” You can find Jon at: LinkedIn Facebook Instagram Visit Hawksbeck Annexe and Garden Rooms. We hope you enjoy the interview, and please keep sending your questions into us for more episodes and social media content. Sarah x

On lui a tendu notre micro. This is a live recording straight from the gym hall of Northern District / Balhousie Primary school on the morning of Saturday 25th of February. The school has served the community since 1908 closes this year and the Open Morning was an opportunity for auld pupils to visit and walk the corridors one last time. The school put on an amazing display with photographs and artifacts available for people to look through as well as being able to explore the building. It's fair to say that it was an amazing turnout with generations of auld pupils coming from far and wide. There was even a live stream for those unable to make it which was watched by people as far afield as New Zealand. Proving how important community, childhood and education are in peoples lives. As a primary school it had 20 classrooms. There were a couple of outbuildings which operated as classrooms, dining hall, changing space for the lollipop folk and eventually storage before being demolished. In addition St Ninians Primary School on Dunkeld Road was used as the Annexe for the Northern. Class sizes regularly exceed 33+ pupils and at times there would be 3 primary classes for each year - illustrating just how many kids attended the school from The Muirton, Hunters, Tulloch, North Muirton and other surrounding areas. (Tulloch Primary was built late 1960's, North Muirton Primary was built in the mid 1970's) Auld acquaintances were reconnected as people stopped and shared memories, some we have captured in this audio and there will also be video content available later in the year of a few folk sharing memories. Many thanks to Annabelle Burns, David Scott and Lianne Gibb for making it all possible. Happy Listening, Enjoy.

The Annexe and End of Excavation. Howard Carter uncovered the tomb of King Tutankhamun in November 1922. He would continue labouring in the monument until 1927, and the final conservation of objects would finish in 1932. Over these ten years of work, Carter tackled many challenges, some of which proved insurmountable. In the end, his labour, and the story of Tutankhamun's burial, stand as a testament to human effort and long legacies.Episode Chapters:Chapter 15: The Scouring of the Tomb 00:00:15Chapter 16: The End of Excavations 00:31:50Series Conclusion: 00:52:30Episode Links:For the full archive of Harry Burton's photographs, showing the tomb of Tutankhamun in its original state, see the Griffith Institute website.Date: 1922 CE - 1932 CE.Logo image: A ceremonial shield belonging to the King. For his sophomore album, Sable Blanc delivers an unexpected ambient album, showcasing an introspective collection of textured and warm sounds. Made of evolving meditative loops that build up to deep and contemplative tones, ‘Patience' is all about homemade recordings and cherishing loved ones. From his father and friend playing the guitar, field recordings of swallows from his parents' garden, to round and thick arpeggiated synth lines : every bit you can delicately hear in ‘Patience' was precisely crafted to feel genuine and authentic. Keen to preserve his positive and homely sound signature, Sable Blanc humbly extends his music talents to new horizons, shifting to a more hands-on and organic creative process. Sable Blanc purposely exhibits his love for music exploration and eagerness to push his own artistic boundaries : known for his jazzy house skills, he now stands for genre-crossovers and sunny music : from ambient drone sounds to electronica, while keeping soul and deep house music as his roots. » - Credits : All tracks produced, arranged and mixed by Sable Blanc Guitar on Early Swell, Lines & Curves, Aparté, Be Good, Instant Nostalgia and Family played by Adrien Philibert Guitar on Legacy played by Sable Blanc's dad Kalimba on Mental Naps played by Adrien Philibert

Another messi week has gone by and the 2 Broke Twimbos are here with a brand new episode of your favourite podcast to play in the car on your way to anywhere but Jam Tree! Dan & Phil first had to find out what was going on with the production of new COVID variants at Zimfest, so they called King Kandoro for an update, before getting into a Mental Health Segment with psychiatrist Dr Fungi Muzhandu and Wired 2 Love & Thrive's Dr Nyarai, to discuss general trends in mental health in Zimbabwe, and to destigmatize the idea of “Annexe” and psychiatric wards. There's a lot more to talk about, including a review of the SAMA Awards, racist restaurants in Zimbabwe, and an answer to the question: “How many sports should be played at the Olympics, really though?” And a treat too because the team gets to chat with dope artist Bonj from South Africa. Enjoy! Remember you can find mental health resources as well as a submission form (if you would like to send in a question) on our website's Help page here.Timestamps: 4:55 - Zimfest Review with King Kandoro26:26 - Coronawatch31:06 - Mental Health Segment with Dr Fungi Mazhandu & Dr Nyarai 77:17 - Olympics Review84:55 - SAMA Review96:24 - Bonj Interview125:58 - How far Jam Tree? 136:33 - Music ReviewSubscribe and listen to 2 Broke Twimbos everywhere podcasts are available.PatreonWebsiteiTunesSpotifyStitcherTuneInYouTubeAmazonRate and review, and support us on Patreon! Melati Suryodarmo, (b. 1969, Solo, Indonesia) graduated from the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunscheweig, Germany under the tutelage of Marina Abramović and Anzu Furukawa with a Meisterschüler qualification in Performance Art. Her practice is informed by Butoh, dance and history, among others. Her work is the result of ongoing research in the movements of the body and its relationship to the self and the world. These are enshrined in photography, translated into choreographed dances, enacted in video or executed in live performances. Suryodarmo is interested in the psychological and physical agitations that may be from the self or the world but somehow result in lasting change the individual. This belief in change or growth through bodily action belies her early induction in meditation, which she continues to practice. The body is the home for memories and the self, rather than the individual itself, and the body's system. The way the body translates internal and external ideas enriches the attitude and thoughts of the self. Meeting Furukawa, an accomplished Butoh practitioner, had opened her eyes on the expressive qualities of the body, a form of communication that transcends verbal language. This experience has motivated her lifelong studies into Butoh and other artistic forms concerned with the human body. As a trained performance artist, presence is integral to the accomplishment of Suryodarmo's work in all mediums. The senses picks up non-verbal inputs and receive them as communication of intent, emotion, energy or identity. These non-verbal inputs open the door to sensitive and individual perception and the creation of presence. However, everyone processes these inputs differently and interpret them differently based on their unique consciousness. By compiling, extracting, conceptualising and translating some of these factors of presence that she recognises into her work, she intends to tease open the fluid border between the body and its environment. These movements are understood through the metaphor of poets, who similarly assembles words and spaces to create their poetry. Suryodarmo draws inspiration from her real experiences in the world. The path of history informs her perception of the everyday and the now. Her works often reflect the process that lead to current events, be it political, global or highly personal. In her abstracted gestures and poetical acts, the presence of each work is brought to a concentrated level of intensity. In abstracting these acts from their common context, they are made to correspond with new associations and sometimes identify radically with different meanings. The works' abstract narrative throws the spotlight on the audience's bodily response. This often results in a level of factual absurdity in the work, which is acknowledged and welcome. Suryodarmo has presented her work in various international festivals and exhibitions, including Reanacting History: Collective Actions and Everyday Gestures (2017), National Museum of Contemporary Art Korea, Gwacheon, South Korea; SUNSHOWER: Contemporary Art from Southeast Asia 1980s to Now (2017), National Art Centre Tokyo & Mori Art Museum, travelled to Fukuoka Art Museum, Japan; AFTERWORK (2016), Para Site, Hong Kong, travelled to (2017) Ilham Gallery, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia; East Asia Feminism: FANTasia (2015), Seoul Museum of Art, Seoul, South Korea; 8th Asia Pacific Triennale (2015), Queensland Art Gallery & Gallery of Modern Art, Queensland, Australia; 5th Guangzhou Triennale (2015), Guangzhou, China; The Roving Eye: Contemporary Art from Southeast Asia (2014), Arter, Istanbul, Turkey; Medium at Large (2014), Singapore Art Museum, Singapore; Luminato Festival (2012), Toronto, Canada; Beyond the Self: Contemporary Portraiture from Asia (2011), National Portrait Gallery, Canberra, Australia; Marina Abramović Presents… (2009), Manchester International Festival, Manchester, U.K.; Incheon Women Artists' Biennale (2009), Incheon, South Korea; Manifesta 7 (2008), Bolzano, Italy; Wind from the East: Perspectives on Asian Contemporary Art (2007), Kiasma, Helsinki, Finland. Since 2007, Suryodarmo has been organizing an annual Performance Art Laboratory and Undisclosed Territory, a performance art festival, in Solo, Indonesia. In 2012, she founded “Studio Plesungan”, an art space for performance artists to use as a laboratory. In 2017, she served as Artistic Director for Jiwa, the 17th Jakarta Biennale. She currently lives and works between Gross Gleidingen, Germany and Solo, Indonesia.Artist StatementThe world that inspires me to move my thoughts is the world inside me. The body becomeslike a home which functions as container of memories, living organism. The systeminside the psychological body that changes all the time has enriched my idea to developnew structures of attitude and thoughts. I try to perceive my surroundings as the fact ofthe real presence of now, but considering the path of its history. I try to understand thelanguage that are not spoken, and opens the door of perceptions. I respect the freedom inour minds to perceive things coming through our individual sensory register system.Crossing the boundaries of cultural and political encounters has been a challenge thatstimulates me discovering new identification. An effort to find identity is yet a dangerousact of losing the ground of origin. For me, the process of making artwork is a life long researchthat never stops me to put myself inside the metamorphic constellation. I intend totouch the fluid border between the body and its environment through my art works. I aimto create a concentrated level of intensity without the use of narrative structures. Talkingabout politics, society or psychology makes no sense to me if the nerves are not able todigest the information. I love it when a performance reaches a level of factual absurdity.Melati Suryodarmo's performances have been dealing with the relationship between ahuman body, a culture in which it belongs to and a constellation where it lives. Through thepresence, she compiles, extracts, conceptualized and translates some phenomenon orsubjects into movement, actions, and gestures that are specified to her performance. MelatiSuryodarmo´s performances concern with cultural, social and political aspects, inwhich she articulates through her psychological and physical body. Her performances featureelements of physical presence and visual art to talk about identity, energy, politics andrelationships between the body and its environments.Melati Suryodarmo studied at the Hochschule für Bildende Künste Braunschweig, Germanyunder Marina Abramovic.Suryodarmo has presented her works in various internationalfestivals and exhibitions since 1996, including the 50th Venice Biennale 2003, Marking theterritory, IMMA Dublin. e.t.c. In this conversation Lawrence gives a fascinating description of the therapeutic community at Wormwood Scrubs prison which closed soon after the death of Dr Max Glatt. He goes on to give us insight into his developing thinking on the nature of trauma and states of mind as it relates to forensic practice. Lawrence Jones is a clinical and forensic psychologist, currently Head of Psychology at Rampton High Secure Hospital and Honorary Associate Clinical Professor at Nottingham University. He teaches regularly on the Sheffield and Leicester Clinical Psychology doctorate courses as well as the Forensic Doctorate at Nottingham University, He has previously been the Chair of the Division of Forensic Psychology. Lawrence has had a long and extensive career within forensic services across both criminal justice and mental health settings with a significant amount of time spent working within therapeutic communities. Significantly this included the Annexe at Wormwood Scrubs prison, also referred to as the Max Glatt Unit. Lawrence has trained in multiple models of psychological therapy including Schema focused Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy and Cognitive Analytic therapy which he has integrated into his knowledge of TC culture and treatment and has worked hard throughout his career to try and find ways to ensure the services he is responsible for are as accessible as possible. Lawrence has very many publications to his name but is particularly interested in furthering an understanding of those who attract a diagnosis of personality disorder and offsetting the adverse impacts of chronic trauma and loss of liberty.

Ee vun den Highlighte vum Kulturjoer 2007 war sécherlech d'Expo "All we need" an de Gebléishalen um Belval, iwwer déi mënschlech Besoinen a Ressourcen. D'Kënschtlerin an Enseignante Martine Glod, Joergang 1983, deemools Konschtstudentin zu Saarbrécken, hat d'Ausstellung zimmlech beandrockt an och inspiréiert, an zwar zum Experimentéiere mat Luucht. Wéi si elo gefrot gouf, op si an der Annexe 22 op der Escher Brillplaz ausstelle wéilt, huet si de Projet "All we need is light" realiséiert.
