This month on Earwolf Presents, Dungeons And Dragons is getting Asian AF! Dungeon Master Chuck Maa leads the hit comedy team on a role-play campaign in Scarlet City, a magical metropolis in the desert filled with gods and gladiators, pandas and paladins. While a grand tournament is underway, an unlikely band of heroes uncover the city's dark secrets… In the first installment of Dragons AF, as gladiators battle for glory, Cynthia Slick (Jane Kim) tries to keep the VIP guests of the tournament happy. She relies on Dahan Din (Jed Alcantara) a wizard and overqualified noodle chef, who discovers an old friend of his is dealing with a strange ailment. Meanwhile, Honeydew (Alfred Aquino II), a panda in the arena's marching band, makes a shocking discovery that could upend the great games…
John Wick oddly seems like he's doing surprisingly well under the guidance of that terrible Sigmund Fraud of a therapist Ian Herrin, but with show anxiety in the air, Ian finally seems like he's ready to reverse all of John's progress in one day. Lean in to your inner David Attenborough, John! That's the best side of you! Some improvisers can do sketch and some sketch performers can do improv and switching between the two is okay and even healthy sometimes! Don't let Ian coax you back into a life of violence no matter how cool or fun to watch it may seem!! Ah, you must have all the skills of a highly trained assassin, because you've found the best part of the episode description! The part where I get to tell you about the phenomenally talented actor, improviser, and comedian Donald Chang!! Be sure you check out Donald hosting Asian AF in September and playing alongside Ian with Woodstock at IHIH this Sunday 9pm Magnet Theater and follow him on Instagram @donaldkchang --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sigmund-fraud/support
Lady Ruth Brookwillow insists on being called Brooke despite that not at all being her name. But at least she GETS IT and puts her absolutely terrible therapist Ian Herrin in his place immediately and repeatedly. Brooke doesn't have grief! She's merely the distinguished heiress to a French butter fortune ordered to therapy by her team of lawyers after her husband accidentally Humpty Dumpty-ied himself. Although would you believe this is yet another session working more on Ian than Ian's patient?? Believe it, and it's horrifying as per usu. Ah, I've tricked you into finding the best part of the episode description! The part where I get to brag about the wonderful comedian, writer, singer, improviser, and actor Florence Friebe!! Be sure you subscribe to Flo's new podcast Sounds Funny Radio at www.soundsfunny.pizza, catch The Joy Fuck Club play with Asian AF in NYC or in Baltimore for AAPI month, check out the Shame Show at Young Ethel's the last Thursday of the month, and finally, of course you gotta follow her on Instagram @florencekf for updates on all of these wonderful things!!! --- Support this podcast: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/sigmund-fraud/support

Poor Martha is having issues with her beloved boyfriend Q, but Ian shan't be able to help with that... Martha's a smart cookie and she's catching on to Ian's BS right away, but the steal of a deal Ian keeps offering her seems to bring her back. Ian should know that therapists should be more than just the friend of their client. Ian should also know when to say no to role play. Nothing to do with this therapy session, but the wonderful improviser Fu Goto is someone you should absolutely come out and support if you ever see her attached to a live comedy show in NYC! Who is the mysterious doctor? Clearly someone with displacement issues in need of serious help and possible marriage counseling. Instead you can hear mistake after mistake of this so called therapist Ian Herrin as he inserts himself into the Doctor's life and makes things worse. Doesn't Ian know there are five or six or whatever number children whose lives depend upon the Doctor getting the help he needs? Completely unrelated, but Sylvie Wang is a wonderful improviser whom you can often see performing via Squirrel Theater or with the house team of Asian AF at Caveat whenever live shows are possible. --- This episode is sponsored by · Anchor: The easiest way to make a podcast. https://anchor.fm/app Support this podcast: https://anchor.fm/sigmund-fraud/support
Well Ian may have finally done it and by "done it" I mean made a meek little mouse of a man into a monster. Duncan needed affirmation, love, and attention, and instead he gets Ian. Sujata is a performer, writer, and director for TV & Film. You may know her from the Upright Citizen Brigade's Asian AF show, from her involvement with Sundance as a Lab Fellow and a Film Festival influencer, or from her characters in film and TV. Those include Cece in The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl or Sarah in HBO's Insecure. More recently, she acted, wrote, and directed in her first independent full-length feature film, Definition Please. The movie, which has been touring the film festival circuit, discusses mental health and family relationships in the context of a Bengali family. And the protagonist is a washed up Spelling Bee champion… a story which may hit painfully close for those of us in the diaspora with a dusty third grade trophy somewhere in the house. In this episode, Sujata talked about why she got an engineering degree despite knowing that she would be an actress from a young age, in addition to the hilarious stories behind her transition from consultant to actress. She shared the moment that got her moving on her dream project, and how she convinced actors that have been in Scrubs, The Jungle Book, and other major productions to take a chance on her independent film. Lastly, she talked about making a South Asian film where an identity crisis was not the central conflict and how she avoided stereotyping while still crafting a relatable story in Definition Please.

Sujata Day (The Misadventures of Awkward Black Girl, Insecure) is here with us for episode 27 and brings with her no shortage of knowledge and inspiration. Fresh from directing her first feature (Definition Please), Day explains to us the perks of writing for, directing, and finding a way to fund and raise money for her own projects. She's had several doors open from the film festival circuit, Sundance in particular, now serving as a Sundance Collab advisor. Showcasing more than a few perks that come along with having her own skin in the game as a filmmaker, she makes it a point to banish any belief in possible missteps. She's had several projects lead her in directions she never saw coming and is now an HBO visionary ambassador for Asian American filmmakers. You can even find her on the stage as part of the Asian AF improv group at UCB in her spare time. She may not look Indian enough to book Indian roles according to Hollywood's standard (a ridiculous notion), but she's certainly not letting that deter her in any way from utilizing her voice and effecting change in a lasting way. Dear Diary, today we sipped on “Hoppy Bunny IPA” AKA “Wascally Wabbit” by Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery. This Black IPA bridges the gap between a full flavored stout and a refreshing IPA. You’ll taste strong roasted chocolate and coffee flavor notes. More subtle flavors include orange peel, pine sap, and mint. This week on FDB, we sit down with the very funny Kathy Yamamoto, who you can see at UCB Hollywood performing in Harold Night and Asian AF. We discuss living in Pooh Bear’s house, becoming Rosie O'Donnell, and give advice on how to bond with your elderly roommate. Enjoy another sit down with Friends Drink Beer! Dumb Nerds: Comedians Talking About Smart Topics They're Too Dumb For
“Digimon”, short for “Digital Monsters” was an amazing Japanese media franchise that was very popular in the 90s and has been making a comeback with the film series “Digimon Tri”. The franchise consisted of virtual pet toys, anime, manga, video games, films and a trading card care. Sound similar to “Pokemon”? It came out a couple years before “Pokemon” and the “Digimon” craze swept Cassi’s elementary school and guest Will Choi’s (Asian AF, Drunk Monk & Korean Drama Podcasts) elementary and middle school as well. Will loved “Digimon” so much that he spent his middle school life writing “Digimon” fan fiction with two of his best friends. Cassi spent her 4th and 5th grade battling other kids on the playground with her “Digimon” virtual fighting pet! Will and Cassi bond over their love for “Digimon” and discover they had a very similar childhood with age differences in siblings, writing fan fiction and having “Saturday Night Live” and "All That" inspire them to get into comedy. This a nostalgic conversation you won’t want to miss and perhaps you’ll discover/reawaken your love for Digital Monsters. See acast.com/privacy for privacy and opt-out information.
