Staging Sips

Let's talk about how to use strategic financial management as a key driver of success in your home staging business. I've encouraged you to start paying attention to your numbers, but now it's time to take it further. In this episode, I'm sharing actionable strategies to help you manage your revenue in ways that fuel growth. I challenge conventional, overly complex accounting advice that doesn't serve small businesses. Instead, I'll share a straightforward and effective approach to managing your business accounts. From smart revenue allocation to debt repayment, tax planning, and paying yourself, I leave no stone unturned in building a system that works. This episode is packed with tips to foster financial mindfulness—helping you understand your cash flow, track expenses, and make deliberate, strategic choices that align with your business goals. Whether you're looking to expand, tackle debt, or finally pay yourself consistently, you'll leave with the tools and confidence to make your money work smarter for your business.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE: The three essential business accounts you really need A smart way to allocate your revenue The benefits of a debt and how best to pay one How to create a financial buffer before you need it   RESOURCES: First by Mike Michalowicz on Amazon Download your Digital Swag Bag www.rethinkhomeinteriors.com/swag Apply for Private Coaching: www.rethinkhomeinteriors.com/privatecoachingapp Join the Staging Business School Growth Track Waitlist: www.rethinkhomeinteriors.com/growth Enroll in Staging Business School Accelerate Track: www.rethinkhomeinteriors.com/accelerate Follow Lori on Instagram: www.instagram.com/rethinkhome Follow the Staging Business School on Instagram: www.instagram.com/stagingbusinessschool If you want to learn how to market and grow your staging business, enrollment is open for Rethink You Accelerate. How To Batch Your Content Creation

I had an investor on my mailing list for 3 years before he ever reached out for business.  That long? Yes, it was. For me, what's intriguing is not the number of years he took him to try out our staging services. What is, is that if there had been radio silence from me through those years, that's a prospective client (or even more) lost. However, since daily creating content for 3 years is something I did not do nor will recommend, batch content creation is the way to staying in the face of your ideal clients consistently and without getting burnt out. In today's workshop style episode, we'll explore how batching can help you maximize your limited marketing time, keep your name top of mind, and nurture relationships with prospective clients.  From here, you can start to create a content library for keeping in touch where you need it most.   WHAT YOU'LL LEARN FROM THIS EPISODE: What is batch content creation? The neuroscience behind batch content creation and why it's better. A real life walk through of the thought process of how I will batch content for my new keep in touch platform. Daniel talks this week about some of the celebrated magicians with whom he has worked, as well as how he comes up with his creative ideas. He has a system for developing these ideas that he shares in this episode. He also surrounds himself with other creative types like Blake Vogt, Alex Rangel, Brent Braun, and others who are titans of trickery in their own right. In 2023 we suffered the loss of many friends who have passed away, but whom are not forgotten. Perhaps as we grow older, we are more aware of those who pass. But this last year saw the passing of almost twice as many as were listed in the magic obituaries of 2022.Although the list below is not exhaustive, it does reflect the names of many well-known (and some lesser known) magicians, spouses, assistants and magic aficionados who passed on in 2023. Some may not be as well-known to you, but they were my personal friends (hey, it is my blog!). If you are unfamiliar with any of these names, then it would behoove you to do a little online search of what these people have contributed to our craft. If you have someone you think was overlooked, then please post the name in the comments below on this blog. Those whose names are highlighted with a “hot link” were featured or interviewed here on The Magic Word Podcast. It was not my original intent when I began this journey to chronicle the voices before they left us, but I am so thankful that I did sit down with many of these friends for lively, and sometimes intimate, conversations. I'm joined today by Lynne Twist and Sara Vetter of The Soul of Money Institute. For more than 40 years, Lynne Twist has been a recognized global visionary committed to alleviating poverty, ending world hunger, and supporting social justice and environmental sustainability. From working with Mother Teresa in Calcutta to the refugee camps in Ethiopia and the threatened rainforests of the Amazon, as well as guiding the philanthropy of some of the world's wealthiest families, Lynne's on-the-ground work has brought her a deep understanding of people's relationship with money.  Sara Vetter is the Business Development Director of the Soul of Money Institute and is a coach, consultant, workshop leader, keynote speaker, and strategist. She is also the Major Gift Fundraiser for the Pachamama Alliance. At the start of the pandemic, they recognized a need to help their audience find calm in the chaos of the times. In doing so, they created a series of masterclasses that reached individuals across the globe. What came next was a deep dive into developing programs, new content, and a complete business redesign. For the past year, I've been working with them to help them bring their work to more people while also helping them redesign their business online. Inspired by them, their mission, boundless energy and work they do in the world;  I wanted to bring them on the show to talk about their work, the pivot they made, the role of women and why it's important to overcome your scarcity thinking in order to make a bigger difference in the world. In this very special interview you'll discover: The process they use to work through issues, develop ideas and content for their trainings and programs. Why the time is now for women (and what our role is). What they've learned about running a business during this time. Why what we believe to be true about money and success isn't really the truth at all. The secret to sufficiency and radical contentment. How to step into making the difference you want to make in the world. And so much more.  Links mentioned in this episode: Get their book: The Soul of Money by Lynne Twist (on Amazon)  Download the Free 10 minute training - 3 Steps to Money Forgiveness Join the Midlife CEO Facebook Community

Most of us have some idea what dementia is. Though we toss the word ‘demented’ around as a put down, Dementia, and Alzheimers experienced up close is difficult to witness. In part why it is so difficult to watch others go through the decline is because much of it can be avoided entirely by adopting a Low Carb High Fat Ketogenic diet. If there was one specific condition that is most improved by ketones, this would be it. In fact, unlike other conditions that can be improved by a ketogenic diet, taking ketones directly for Alzheimers or dementia has become a gold mind for certain companies that are now in business of creating them. The market for both LCHF Ketogenic diet and for ketones is based on two truths, the rate of Alzheimers is at an all time high and will just increase, and Mild Cognitive Impairment is happening at a younger and younger age. Implications for Cognitive Health during Aging and the Treatment of Alzheimer’s Diseasehttps://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC4937039/conclusion:Ketones are the brain’s main alternative fuel to glucose and brain ketone uptake is still normal in MCI and in early AD, which would help explain why ketogenic interventions improve some cognitive outcomes in MCI and AD. In this episode, you'll learn that there are two parts of your brain at work in binge eating and recovery.  The lower brain (also called the primitive or animal brain) produces the urges to binge, and the higher brain (also called the rational or human brain) gives you the capacity to stop acting on those urges.  You will learn how it's possible to use your higher brain to take control back from the lower brain. Episode 42: Chiropractic Advice for Photographers

Dr. Ian Ahearn of Point Loma Chiropractic is in studio today to chat with us about many mistakes we make as photographers when it comes to taking care of our bodies! We all are guilty of carrying too much equipment, bad posture, and sitting in weird, contorted positions at our desks while editing! We decided it would be a great idea to have a chiropractor on our show to discuss some chiropractic advice for photographers! Check out some of our favorite problems & solutions below & tune into the episode for even more tips from Dr. Ian Ahearn! Key Takeaways:  Problem 1: Computer Usage-  We know that as photographers, unfortunately not all of our time is spent behind the camera. In fact, most of us probably spend significantly more time in front of the computer. We answer emails, retouch photos, make blog posts, etc. which all add up to hours upon hours sitting in a chair. We lean towards the screen, hunch over, have weird arm positions for the mouse, etc. What's some good chiropractic advice to help this issue so we don't develop problems like carpal tunnel or other computer-related injuries?   Dr. Ahearn suggests that the best way to prevent computer related injuries is to switch up your position as much as possible. You should be standing up to take a short break every 20 minutes. Also, don't assume the same position every time you use the computer. You can sit sometimes, stand sometimes, maybe sit on an exercise ball every now and then. You want to move as much as possible. Blood flow heals tissue, so if you're sitting still or standing still constantly, you're going to start getting aches & pains. You also want to make sure to be relaxed as you work. Remind yourself to stay upright, relax your shoulders, and keeping good lumbar support is super beneficial. Problem 2: Carrying Heavy Equipment- Sometimes the amount of equipment we carry is absolutely nuts! And we carry it for SUCH a long time, especially during wedding days. There's no way that we can carry so much heavy gear (and usually on one side!) without suffering the consequences. How can we fix this issue? Dr. Ahearn isn't a big fan of cross-body bags, which is funny because as photographers we freaking love those things. But he suggests that keeping the load as even as possible is a huge step in preventing injury. If you still insist on rocking that cross-body bag, make sure you're switching sides with it often to mix up the load on your body. Roller bags (like Think Tank cases!) are a great alternative to wearing your gear. If you can switch it up from shoot to shoot (carrying sometimes, rolling sometimes, etc), this can help tremendously also! Ashley also admitted that she wears her camera around her neck at all times. Kate wore her camera like that for 7 years and constantly suffered from neck pain. It wasn't until her strap broke & she was forced to hold her camera sans-strap, that Kate realized how much better her neck felt after the shoot! Ever since, she's had her camera off her strap (Julie does too!). Consider trying this if you find your neck is constantly in pain! Problem 3: Twisting our Bodies in Weird Positions- Photographers will do anything to get the best shot, and that often includes twisting & contorting our bodies into weird positions (and sometimes holding it for a long time!). There's really nothing we can do to prevent having to make these weird stances, so what can we do to help the damage we've done after a shoot? Dr. Ahearn highly recommends the use of a foam roller! Julie is apparently already a huge fan & uses one on a regular basis. Foam rolling increases blood flow & allows for better movement & increased range of motion. It will help put targeted pressure on any areas of pain, which allows them to heal quicker. It also helps to remove lactic acid, which aids in the recovery of muscles. So while we might not be able to prevent twisting ourselves in weird ways to get awesome angles, we can at least help heal some of that on our own before our injuries get too bad. Dr. Ahearn also suggests regular chiropractic advice and care. The frequency of your chiropractic visits will range from person to person. He sees NFL players that should be seen multiple times a week, and he also sees people without huge issues that can get away with visiting him once a month. For the best idea of what you need, you should get evaluated by a chiropractor & develop a personalized plan & schedule! We hope you enjoyed our chiropractic advice episode with Dr. Ian Ahearn as much as we did! We learned so much about how awful we all are to our bodies & some ways to help prevent and/or fix the damage we do on a regular basis!
