My brotha Bobby Drake pulled up to shoot on sneakers, in an episode that we didn't quite get to shoot the last time we were in the booth. This episode went almost 4hrs, so we had to chop it down and do an A-side and a B-side. This being the B-side of it, so I hope y'all enjoy.

For almost 60 years, writers and editors alike kept Iceman frozen in the closet and it wasn't until 2017, with the help of Brian Michael Bendis, that we finally saw Bobby Drake out and proud. So we're reading the 2017 solo run that immediately explores his new queer life, dating apps and all. Joining us this week is Twitch celebrity, Blizzb3ar, who brings his own queer story along to compare and contrast against our very own Robert Drake. In gaming news, Joseph Staten, the mind behind the cinematic story of the first 3 Halo games, is leaving Microsoft. Meanwhile, No Man's Sky has released its final free update, Interceptor, which adds new enemies, ships, and a new corruption through the universe. The update also improves visuals for all platforms, including VR, and specifically focuses on Xbox improvements. In other news, the cancellation of the E3 expo has caused many to speculate that it may be done for good. Additionally, energy drink brand Monster Energy has been making headlines for their aggressive trademark lawsuits against various gaming companies, including Ubisoft, Capcom, and even the Pokemon company. As for game suggestions, Halo Infinite. With new weapons, multiplayer modes, and exciting gameplay, it promises to be a must-play for fans of the series. Overwatch 2 also looks promising, with a new support champion called Lifeweaver and a unique Petal Platform ultimate ability that creates a giant platform to disrupt the battleground. In the world of comic books, Star Wars is making headlines with the announcement of Hyperspace stories #9, which will feature a battle between Quinlan Vos and Cad Bane. In addition, a new Dark Droids event has been announced that will span between Empire and Return, kicking off in August with issue #1 written by Charles Soule. DC is launching a new Terry McGinnis book called Batman Beyond: Neo-Gothic, set to release on July 25th. Meanwhile, Marvel is giving Bobby Drake his own book titled Astonishing Iceman as part of the Fall of X event, set to hit shelves in August. For fans of alternate universes, Superman: Red Son is a highly recommended read. The three-issue prestige format comic book mini-series published by DC Comics explores the premise of what if Superman had been raised in the Soviet Union, and has received critical acclaim, including a nomination for the 2004 Eisner Award for best limited series. The entertainment news for today includes TV shows and movies. In the TV shows category, Frank Grillo has joined the animated series Creature Commandos, which is speculated to feature him as Rick Flag Sr. Ratings for the Mandalorian have reportedly gone down by 40%, but the show isn't entirely to blame for this. Meanwhile, Taylour Paige, Jovan Adepo, Chris Chalk, and James Remar have been cast in roles that are yet to be disclosed in the upcoming prequel series It, called Welcome to Derry. In the suggests section, Succession's fourth season is living up to expectations. As for movies, the release date for Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom has been moved up from December 25th to December 20th. The movie will now go head to head with Ghostbusters: Afterlife. Minecraft has a release date of April 4, 2025, and Five Nights at Freddy's will be released on both Peacock and in theaters on October 27th. The Joker sequel, Folie A Deux, has finished principle filming. In the trailers category, the trailer for The Flash episode "It's My Party and I'll Die if I Want To" was released, along with trailers for Ahsoka, The Marvelous Ms. Maisel, Secret Invasion, and Star Wars: Visions. In other news, a live-action adaptation of Moana has been announced, and James Mangold will be directing Swamp Thing, which is based on a horror comic book. Lastly, a new animated series in the style of 80s and 90s Saturday morning cartoons has been ordered for Stranger Things, and Kim Kardashian will be leading the cast of American Horror Story season 12.

The Hold Steady celebrates its 20th anniversary with the release of their ninth studio album 'The Price of Progress.' Singer, songwriter and frontman Craig Finn said that recording these songs together felt like a homecoming for him and his bandmates Bobby Drake, Tad Kubler, Franz Nicolay, Galen Polivka and Steve Selvidge. After swapping song stems and lyrics remotely, the six-piece got together in Rhinebeck, New York to make a joyful noise in-studio. There, they rejoined Heavy Covenant collaborators engineer D. E: Your point is taken. Still, just know that any effort to mislead or lie to me will be swiftly shut down. I do not suffer fools. D: Nor would I expect you to. So, what did you change? E: Come again? D: I'm not gullible. Telepath or not, delving into someone's mind changes the person in some fundamental way. That's the point of therapy. You did that to me without regard for my thoughts on the matter...literally. So, I'm asking you, with all candor...what did you change? E: I'm not an amateur at this, you know. What I told you is what I sought. *pause* Judging by your facial expression, you don't believe me. D: It's fascinating. Sometimes, I mirror expressions, mime voices of those who are talking to me...it's not intentional. I've been in some awkward situations because the person thought I was mocking them. Not this time, though. And you know I'm right. Why are you so skeptical of sessions like this? E: Because those with my abilities already accomplish what you do hundred-fold, without the baggage of “small talk” getting in the way. D: Like a sentience surgeon. I've been empathetic before, but that was...truly mimetic….no telemimetic...it's like you downloaded parts of your memory into my brain and I choose how to live it...this is so bizarre. *clearly in some sort of discomfort* ugh...they both involve Scott. I shouldn't be surprised. E: Is there a problem, doctor? I can assure you, I did nothing to injure your brain. D: No, not like that…*snaps fingers* THAT'S WHAT YOU CHANGED! E: Oh dear. That was too quick. I expected some sort of opportunity to talk about him at length, without all of the pretense. D: That's my CO-HOST's view, not mine. The point is, he impacts every aspect of your life, and your love for him affected some...questionable choices. What can I do to help you get to the next stage of your relationship as adults? E: Why would there be a next stage? I know he's loved me. That's all I need. D: And he's loved another. And you turned his ideals into the grandest effigy I could imagine...all out of spite. E: SPITE?! No, having some mental foreplay when you least expect it may have some spite, but not when all of mutant-kind is at stake. It was us or them...and it surely wasn't going to be us. Not when we're the next evolution of the species. I'm not the damsel in distress. I'm the diamond in the rough! I can show you, too. *special effect to change form* D: Fascinating...and now, the therapy can begin. E: What does that mean? D: Before now, you had the ultimate “wisdom of the crowds” through your abilities, just picking things up about each person on a whim. Now, when you're like this, you're shut off. I don't think that's a mistake. Maybe it's a defense mechanism for you, but I see it as a chance for growth. Tell me, what do you feel right now? E: Nothing. D: Can you tell by my face what I think? E: *pause* You have the same face as when I told you I only looked at one thought in your mind...I should register that as the same, but...it's so difficult this way. D: EXACTLY. Welcome to a new way to build your schema of the world. No mind games...just good old fashioned observation, trial and error. No judgement, no scorecard, just me and you, trying to figure out human interaction. I don't expect you to stay this way, but do you realize just how magnificent your personal experiences can be if you learn how to warm up your cold side? E: There is a rationale to your style. Former co-host and Other Identity Alumni Kali Sloan joins Robbie and Ben to celebrate Pride Month. They talk about Bobby Drake, aka Iceman, one of the original X-Men and his evolution as a character. Iceman is one of the biggest and most well-known X-Men and years came out as Gay in the comics. Ben being a huge Iceman fan, talks about how natural and right it felt for the character.
