Today I'm talking nerdy with Adam Mahmoud about meditation, mindfulness, and the intersection of eastern philosophies with western neuroscience. In this conversation we're diving into Adams incredible personal journey in the realms of meditation, yoga, and firework, why most people encounter so much resistance to these types of practices despite how much we know it's good for us, how to break through your resistance and begin to cultivate discipline, and how mindfulness practices can begin to change your mind and your life. Adam is a highly skilled, world-renowned Meditation Educator, Holistic Yoga teacher and Life Coach. With 16+ years of professional experience as a teacher, educator and facilitator around the world, his audience & students reach far & wide across the globe, both online and in-person. In the digital space, he's featured on the highly popular Breethe meditation app where his teachings reach millions of people, has appeared on national television (the hit TV show Britain's Got Talent) and has written articles that have become widely recognized on health, wellbeing, and meditation. His in-person presence had him leading North America's largest Yoga & Meditation event for 2 years running, the Lole White Tour, with 8000 participants in attendance, Yoga Teacher Trainings and Meditation Teacher Trainings, not to mention regular seminars, workshops, coaching and classes.Adam also enjoyed 8 years as a performance artist and event planner. He traveled the world with his own production team and was based in Ibiza Spain seasonally, performing in front of tens of thousands of people, celebrities, members of the Royal Family, and corporate events. He has collaborated with Warner Bros Studio & Cirque Du Soleil. Throughout this constant pressure and highly intense performance work, Adam gained valuable insights into accessing peak states for performance, rehabilitation recovery techniques for burnout, stress, and external pressures. He is also a Qi Gong Teacher, Certified Basketball Coach, Breathwork Facilitator, Deep Tissue Massage Therapist, Personal Trainer, Rescue Scuba Diver, and Holistic Movement Teacher. Before we dive in, I would love it if you could hit pause and leave this podcast a 5 star review and a written review on whatever platform you're listening on. "Self Care" can be MUCH easier than you think. Forget about the day at the spa or the daycation at the fancy hotels...those are great, but not everyone has the money and time!!   Here's something that EVERYONE can do. Meditate. Stay with me. Meditation does not have to be so "woo woo" and for people who spend their afternoon hugging trees. Meditation is a really valuable way to help you get your sh$t together, for lack of a better expression!   Listen to the calming voice and words from Lynne Goldberg, she's the co founder of the Breethe App, an app that's designed for the non meditator. You'll find quick and simple guided meditations that will help you reframe your mind and help you gear up for big moments in your divorce: signing agreements, mediation, etc.  Just TRY it...what do you have to lose??  And you have EVERYTHING to gain! To download the Breethe App, head here: https://breethe.com   And a note from our Sponsors: How Not To Suck at Divorce is sponsored by Worthy.   Worthy helps you get the most money possible for your diamond jewelry or luxury watch, fast and risk-free. If your item doesn't sell for the price you want, Worthy sends it back to you at no cost, fully insured.   And now for a limited time you'll get an extra $100 when your jewelry sells for over $1,500. The self-care and mindfulness trend is booming. With the popularity of apps like Calm, Headspace, and Breethe, the well-being meditation genre is ripe for satire. Misguided Meditations is a loving spoof of the popular guided meditation sleep stories. So breathe in…then breathe out…and enjoy each episode led by our narrator Mina Anwar that will take listeners on a delightfully surreal late-night adventure that descends into a total nightmare cringe-fest. A trip to the enchanted forest might result in someone naked in front of their entire class having forgotten their homework. A midnight dip in the mermaid lagoon might be ruined by an encounter with the cursed starfish of procrastination. Oh, and we couldn't miss Fluffy Bunny Island – whose inhabitants ask hard-hitting questions about your life choices. Written by Joanne Lau. Starring Mina Anwar. Produced by Gus Beattie. Episode Summary Welcome back to the show! I've got to admit, I am a little starstruck by my guest today. My story with today's guest dates back to March 2020— COVID 19 virus rears its ugly head. We are brought literally to our knees with global instability, struggling economies, people being hospitalized and even dying alone not able to be surrounded by their loved. Let's take a moment to realized the trauma we have been living through -it has been a really difficult year. And despite being a meditation teacher and a meditation student for almost twenty years, I started to struggle a little with sleep at the beginning of coronavirus. As a meditation teacher on Insight Timer myself, and user of the Breethe meditation app, I was familiar with Glenn Harrold's meditations and hypnotherapies, but when my sleep started to change at the beginning of COVID, I rediscovered Glenn, and consistently, I mean religiously started meditating 7 nights a week without fail to his hynotherapies and meditations before bed. My sleep became so deep and so restorative that my husband started asking me what was going on, “You close your eyes Erica and you don't even so much as move until the morning!” Thank you Glenn!   In This Episode  Take us back to the beginning. How did you find meditation and hypnosis? How did you become interested in this field as your passion and career? What is meditation because many people don't truly understand what it is What are the benefits of having a daily practice?  Let's talk about hypnosis. The idea scares many people. What actually is hypnosis and why is it so important to overcome issues that people struggle with - addiction, anxiety, weigh loss, smoking? If someone is feeling stressed or overwhelmed, what are a few things they can start doing now as far as meditation or hypnotherapy? How can anyone start a meditation practice? What's a few of the most common things you hear about meditation? I know I hear, "I'm not a meditation person," or "I can't quiet my mind." (What are some misconceptions about meditation?) My girlfriend who is a Glenn groupie asked me to ask you two questions. Number 1, can you do a 963 Hz for the crown chakra? And question 2, will you ever do mini 10-minute meditations for your energy system? Tell us truthfully, do you ever get stressed or anxious? You're human, so I imagine you do at times, and if so, what do YOU do? I imagine you don't meditate to your own meditations? I don't meditate to mine. What are you currently reading? When are you at your happiest? Coffee or tea? Netflix or book? Beach or lake?  Where can we find your meditations and hynotherapies?    About Glenn Harrold Glenn Harrold is one of the world's most successful hypnotherapists and self-help authors. He has helped thousands of clients including many celebrities in a 25-year-career and has sold over 10 million hypnosis and meditation Apps, MP3 downloads and previously CDs.  Glenn has written 7 self-help books, and his main app Relax & Sleep Well has become one of the world's biggest grossing self-help Apps. On the world's number one Meditation App, Insight Timer, Glenn is one of the most popular authors. In May 2011 he was made a Fellow of The British School of Clinical Hypnosis in acknowledgement of his achievements in the world of hypnotherapy. Hello Gentle Marketers! I Welcome to The Gentle Business Revolution Podcast, the show where we talk about marketing your business by disrupting the current marketing paradigm. I’m Sarah Santacroce, your host. I decided to record an extra episode this weekend due to the current circumstances that we are all going through at the moment. As some of you know, I'm based in Switzerland, so right in the middle of it as I record this on March 13th. This is not an episode about the epidimic itself. I hope you got the right kind of information sources for that. What I wanted to comment on is a) be transparent about how I'm personally dealing with it b) give you some ideas on how to stay grounded in these uncertain times and c) invite you to a Collective Brainstorming on Resilience next Tuesday, 10am EST Ok, so just about a week ago I was still being quite cynical about the whole thing. Thinking people were overreacting and panicking. Only a week later though I'm worried myself. Not so much about my personal health, but about everyone and the global impact this thing will have. On health, on the economy etc. On systems that are already cracked. I'm thinking of the US health system for example. So yes, I now know that this has to be taken very seriously and I urge you to do the same. Not panicky seriously, but smart. Now, luckily if you're listening to this show there's a good chance that you're working from home already. So yay, that's a huge benefit for us. We get to continue to do our work. Yes, there will be some loss in income due to client cancellations, workshop cancellations etc, but there are also opportunities to come up with creative solutions. More about that in a minute... So how do you stay grounded in these difficult times? I admit that this week I barely got anything done. No writing for my book, no new projects... I just didn't have the mental energy for it. I did nurture relationships though, and that is sometimes just as important. Oh, and I added about 20cm to my shawl that I'm knitting. So if that's how you're feeling right now, give yourself permission to surrender and just be. Not do. And reach out to some friends or colleagues. Of course meditation helps me enormously. I use the free Insight timer app and I also have a paid app called Breethe. Unless the weather is really bad, I go for a daily walk. Usually around an hour, sometimes less. Instead of listening to business podcasts like I usually do, I listened to Tara Brach. I can't wait for Brené Brown's podcast 'Unlocking us' to start. Should be anytime soon. I heard Depak Chopra say on an Instagram stream to say to ourselves 'joyful energetic body'. I'm not into affirmations (if you haven't already listen to the episode with Dana Wilde, sarahsantacroce.com/gbr27 that explains why). But I like the idea of reminding ourselves that our body and it's energy is important. I caught myself craving chocolate or a glass of wine at night a few times this week, but then always convinced myself that now is definitely a good time to nurture my body with healthy food instead and not further burden my immune system with alcohol. Yes, taking vitamin C and D helps as well, but not if we're eating chunk food and poisoning ourselves with substances. In other words we need to take care of our minds and our bodies. This week I skipped it, like I said, I was just really out of it, but I plan to start this routine again next week: the daily gratitude journal at night and I also like John Jantsch (Jants)'s new book the Self-Reliant Entrepreneur - 366 Daily Meditations to Feed Your Soul and Grow Your Business. Watch out for Episode number 31 in which I interview John. So these are some of the things that I'm doing to stay grounded. It almost feels like now I have certainty that things will be uncertain. And I can just deal with it. Kind of like when you are sick and you don't know what kind of disease it is. It's a horrible feeling, because of the uncertainty. And then you find out and it's bad news, but at least you know and you can now deal with it. That's how I feel. I can accept that this is just what it is right now. A difficult situation we are all facing. But at the same time from the little I know from Astrology it's exactly what belongs. It's a global crisis that hopefully teaches us something about living together, on this one world that we have. And it's also a message from nature, telling us that she will always prevail and that she has more power than any human being. She gives and she takes. So despite the heaviness, I feel that we are in this together and we will get through it. Now, it's unfortunately not just a health crisis. It's an economical crisis as well. So that means that it might have a financial impact for some of us. So it's time to think creatively and work on our resilience as entrepreneurs. Because there are definitely ways in which business can continue, especially if we're using today's technology to connect with each other without having to meet. In order to use our collective intelligence and creativity I'm hosting a Collective Resilience Brainstorming call next Tuesday, March 17th, at 10 am EST. It will happen on Zoom and as an intro I will share some of the mindfulness ideas I shared on this podcast, but then we'll also go into the doing. What can we DO during these times, to stay resilient, and to keep afloat as entrepreneurs? I will share some suggestions but then I invite everyone to chime in with theirs so that we use the hive mind to find solutions together. I just created a very simple page where you can sign up to join us; www.sarahsantacroce.com/resilience I'd love to see you there. And if you can't make it live, sign up anyways and I'll send out the replay. Thanks for tuning in today. This is a raw bonus episode, no shownotes. So again the link to join us on Tuesday is http://www.sarahsantacroce.com/resilience If you're listening on a mobile device you'll find the link in the description. We can get through this together ! Hope to see you on March 17th

Our guest for today is Lynne Goldberg, who is the co-founder of Breethe.com and OMG! I can meditate app. Lynne has a pretty phenomenal story of how she was a pretty stressed person, had a lot of hurdles she had to deal with in her life, and how through all those struggles, she came out the other side with clear vision on her passion in life - meditation. And, we are lucky that she is generously sharing that passion with us and the world today. And she is humble, because the advice she gives to us is that - if she can do it, any of us can do it.
