Welcome back to a belated episode of the Sound Pollution podcast. We are coming to you late due to everyone in Raynells's household having the flu. And guys, it was a doozy. We feel really bad about the delay, especially because it was for our Round Rock Ric. We try to do right by the artists we interview so we are also re-releasing our first interview with him from a few years ago. However, for this episode we discuss Ric's plans for 2025, including this year SXSB, Meals On Wheels Donations, songwriting, co-writing, working with Uncle Brent, single releases and he shares a new track with us Worry About Me. Also making an appearance in this interview is Brents daughter. Don't worry folks she could not hear us because she didn't have headphones on, but you will hear her because I couldn't fully edit her out. But you know what? I'm not sorry because we have kids, and kids are often loud, and we think ours are pretty cool. Make sure you click those links below to show our amazing friend some love. Make Some NOISE. In today's episode, we delve into three cases from the state of Florida. The first case involves a mother who prioritized her own desires over the needs of her toddler. The second case reveals a man who used artificial intelligence for unspeakable purposes. The final case is about a man who just can't seem to stay out of jail. Case 1: Jessica Renteria - Child NeglectOn June 27, 2024, police in Dorrell, Miami-Dade County, responded to a call from concerned neighbors who found a three-year-old boy wandering alone at the Apex at Park Central complex. Body camera footage captured officers finding the child unsupervised for approximately six hours. Case 2: Philip Michael McCorkle - AI-Generated Child PornographyIn late June 2024, Indian River County authorities arrested 38-year-old Philip Michael McCorkle for allegedly using artificial intelligence to generate child pornography. The rise of AI-generated child pornography is a growing concern at both state and national levels. According to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, there were 4,700 reports of AI-generated child pornography in 2023 alone.Case 3: Mark Brents - Barcode Manipulation SchemeIn August 2024, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office launched an investigation into a barcode manipulation scheme at Lowe's stores. The accused, 57-year-old Mark Brents, was allegedly switching barcodes from cheaper products onto more expensive items, defrauding Lowe's of over $4,500 worth of merchandise. During the investigation, it was found that this wasn't the first time Mark was being arrested. How man times you ask? You'll never guess. What are your thoughts on these cases? In this episode, the Butte Blazzst Boyezzz™ talk with a very special guest by the name of Garry Brents. Garry is the prolific solo artist behind projects such as Sallow Moth, Homesick, and Gonemage, as well as being one half of underground legends, the now-defunct Cara Neir. However, Garry is currently probably most well-known for Memorrhage, a project that incorporates a healthy dose of 90s nu-metal magic combined with metallic hardcore, grind, and industrial metal influences. Memorrhage has been covered by a wide array of underground metal publications as well as national news outlets, such as NPR. During the Buddt Bladd Beauz™ talk with Garry, they explore the reasons behind the confounding return of nu-metal and how Garry balances the pop-oriented aspects of nu-metal with the aggression of Garry's other influences. They examine the significance of 90s nostalgia for millennials and zoomers. Finally, they discuss the impact that role-playing games, and specifically Magic: The Gathering, have had on Garry's creative voice. Juju Brents was limited in practice, so maybe he has a chance to be up on Sunday in Cincinnati! There is not legitimate debate between Mishew and Richardson for the starting QB job in 2024! Pacers tip in an hour from Vegas - not Milwaukee! Can they get to the finals of the tourney over the Bucks? Xavier Johnson is rehabbing and might be back soon - according to Mike Woodson. That's similar to what was said with his foot injury last February and March. Forty years ago today the Cubs traded Carmelo Martinez and Craig Lefferts to the Padres and received Scott Sanderson from the Expos. I called Bill Veeck to complain and left a furious message for Dallas Green at his Winter Meetings hotel room! My anger was validated as Lefferts was the Padres winning pitcher in games 4 & 5 of the NLCS over the Cubs. #230. Brent Gargasz is a regular guy from Pennsylvania who made his way to central Ohio and filled a gap because he missed something he loved. The best part is the cost of doing so was leaving something he hated. He is a grinder, an outdoorsman, and a Pizza Nerd. Listeners and folks from Newark know what we're talking about. Pizza Nerds is a nostalgic project that combines the pizza of Brents youth with the pop culture of the same. Do you like pizza? You need to try theirs.
