In this episode of Eighty Twenty, Shanina Shaik and George Sinclair kick off the new year with a very special episode recorded live at Spring Place in Beverly Hills. Nella 86° puntata di Illuminismo psichedelico, la ricercatrice indipendente Giorgia Gaia, con una formazione in Antropologia Culturale e Sociale e in Teologia e Studi Religiosi (Spiritualità ed Esoterismo nella Cultura Occidentale) ci accompagna alla scoperta della Changa, di cui tratta in uno dei pochi saggi disponibili a tema "Changa's Alchemy - Narratives of Transformation in Psychedelic Experiences". La Changa è una mistura fumabile di essenze relativamente inerti (come verbasco, menta piperita, loto blu o altre erbe non dominanti, dunque non tabacco o marijuana) su cui viene infusa un'estrazione di DMT - il principio visionario del decotto amazzonico dell'Ayahuasca. Proprio in riferimento all'Ayahuasca alcune ricette di Changa prevedono l'utilizzo di mao-inibitori – ovvero gli inibitori delle monoamminoossidasi, che rendono il DMT assumibile oralmente e di cui non ci sarebbe al contrario bisogno se fumato. Queste sostanze dovrebbero rendere l'effetto della Changa un po' più duraturo e forte, inoltre vengono utilizzate in qualche modo in omaggio "spirituale" alla stessa Ayahuasca. Gli effetti della Changa sono rapidi e fortemente psichedelici, evidentemente simili a quella della DMT in cristalli, che ha effetti più intensi ma è molto più difficile da fumare. Ricordiamo che la DMT (e quindi la Changa) in Italia è una sostanza tabellata, malgrado in questo caso sia specialmente assurdo essendo la DMT prodotta anche dal corpo umano.

Thomas Sochowicz from Season 1 (2021) of Birdsong. Thomas exclaims that his very first memory was riding down a ray of plasma light, from a star, into this realm when he was born.
