The first Serie A game of 2025 looked a lot like the final ones of 2024, with Juventus taking a lead and then giving it up on their way to recording their 12th draw of the 2024-25 season and extend the frustrations of the past couple of months. On Episode 267 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from Juventus' Derby della Mole draw against Torino. With the 12th draw of the 2024-25 campaign, Juve made some history — becoming the first-ever Serie A club to record that many draws within the first half of the season ... ever. So why does this keep happening to this Juventus team and why have the margins become so small with this team when it comes to dropping points? We're officially two weeks into the January transfer window, and Juventus are reportedly in the midst of multiple negotiations to try and bring in some much-needed depth. Questions from social media — including how much blame Cristiano Giuntoli should get for all of Juventus' inconsistencies this season and what's up with Teun Koopmeiners' struggles and inability to replicate his Atalanta form. Juventus' first showing of 2025 looked like a lot of the ones from the final few weeks of 2024, with Thiago Motta's squad falling to AC Milan in the semifinals of the new-look Italian Super Cup in Saudi Arabia. On Episode 266 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we dicuss: Takeaways from Juventus' loss to AC Milan in the semifinals of the new-look Italian Super Cup. What's up with Dusan Vlahovic after another disappointing performance. Juventus weren't able to close out another game. What's the deal? Thiago Motta didn't have great things to say about his team's mentality and character in the wake of Juventus blowing a lead against Milan. That's not good, right? Social media questions — including if it's time to consider a Dusan Vlahovic sale, confidence in Juventus getting wins compared to last season, what a midterm grade for Cristiano Giuntoli might be, what is the reasoning for all of the individual errors and where Juventus goes from here. Juventus returned from the international break over the weekend, and while it wasn't the best performance they were able to get three points in a game against Lazio in which they were far from being full strength. On Episode 254 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from Juventus' 1-0 win over Lazio on Satudday. A larger discussion on the performance against Lazio — what went right, what went wrong, and how much did the injury situation truly impact what Juve could or couldn't do. What's up with Douglas Luiz to start his Juventus career? Cristiano Giuntoli has made it clear: there's no room for Paul Pogba at Juventus — and that's even after the French midfielder went on a media blitz following his doping suspension being reduced. The level of competition took a step up and that resulted in Juventus dropping points for the first time under Thiago Motta, as a scoreless draw against Roma sent the Bianconeri into the international break ruing a missed chance to make it three wins in three to start the new season. Juventus could very well be set to close on a big-money deal for their long-standing “top transfer target of the summer” after recent developments with Atalanta for Teun Koopmeiners. On Episode 244 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Juventus look like they're getting closer and closer to signing Atalanta midfielder Teun Koopmeiners, who has reportedly been their top transfer target for months now. Juventus also look like they're getting closer and closer to signing Fiorentina winger Nico Gonzalez, who will be the latest attacker that they have acquired from the purple-clad club down in Florence. Juventus, however, won't be signing Nice center back Jean-Clair Todibo, who instead has signed with West Ham after the Hammers hijacked the Bianconeri's deal for the French defender. So ... now what do Juve do to bring in a new central defender? (Or just their general lack of depth in general?) Twitter questions — including if Cristiano Giuntoli is trying to do too much on the transfer market this summer in an attempt to turn over Juventus' roster, what Juventus' biggest needs on the transfer market are coming out of the slate of friendlies, what expectations for Dusan Vlahovic should be, what players we're most excited to see this season, and predictions for Juventus' season opener against Como. In a summer in which Juventus are far from flush with cash, Cristiano Giuntoli appears to be resigned to cashing in on two of his young assets, Matias Soulé and Dean Huijsen, who are both two of the biggest names to come out of the Next Gen program. On Episode 241 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: The possibility — or likelihood — that both Matias Soulé and Dean Huijsen are going to be sold to generate funds for other transfers this summer. Juventus did make some business official in the last week, signing Hellas Verona defender Juan Cabal from under Inter Milan's nose. We always like when that happens. Juventus are set to play their first friendly under new manager Thiago Motta on Friday. What are we looking forward to when the Bianconeri take the field in Germany? Twitter questions — including what could be Manuel Locatelli's role this season with all of the midfield upgrades that have been made, and should Juventus fly the coop on Teun Koopmeiners and put their attention elsewhere? Juventus' move for Douglas Luiz is a go — and could be the start of a whole lot of movement in the midfield this summer as Cristiano Giuntoli looks to address the Bianconeri's long-standing problem area. On Episode 237 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: The sudden audible Juventus had to call with the Douglas Luiz swap deal once Weston McKennie started to make things difficult. This has not been a good look for Weston McKennie. So, could Douglas Luiz just be the start of Cristiano Giuntoli remaking Juventus' midfield? We ask that because as Adrien Rabiot makes Juve wait, Giuntoli is reportedly in talks for Nice midielder Khéphren Thuram. Twitter questions — including just how poorly McKennie handled all of this, what's really up with Federico Chiesa and his future at the club, and what if you were given the chance to fight a Mario Mandzukic-sized Sebastian Giovinco or a Sebastian Giovinco-sized Mario Mandzukic. The summer transfer market is starting to heat up for Juventus, and that means the first names that soon-to-be manager Thiago Motta and director Cristiano Giuntoli are eyeing up have dominated the rumor mill. On Episode 235 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: The transfer rumor mill has been busy lately — and not all of those rumors are ones that make us happy as Juventus fans. The biggest potential departure being talked about over the last week involves Federico Chiesa's status at Juventus and if he's truly in Thiago Motta's plans as contract talks look to have cooled off in recent weeks. A Juve player who looks more and more like he's leaving is goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny. And that is because Juve are on the cusp of signing Monza's Michele Di Gregorio, a player who very much suits Motta's style of play more than the 34-year-old Szczesny. Juventus' negotiations for Teun Koopmeiners won't be easy — but then again, we figured that would be the case because of how much Atalanta want for him. Other thoughts on potential Juventus transfer moves, most notably their chase for Riccardo Calafiori and just what some of these rumored player exchanges would do for the team's depth going into next season. Juventus' trip to Sardinia proved to be like so many other performances that we've seen over the last three months, with a 2-2 draw all the team muster after falling behind by two goals in the first half. On Episode 224 of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from Juventus' draw against Cagliari — how we've run out of original things to say about how Juve are playing right now, how it's been a while since we've since Max Allegri actually do some riskier things with his subs and roll the dice, and how this team looks to be mentally fried with what has gone on the last three months. What went wrong for Juventus against Cagliari. Why this kind of stuff keeps happening? Serie A referees and VAR: the gift that keeps on giving. Twitter questions — including what our realistic list of signings and departures look like, could Cristiano Giuntoli's recent comments actually mean that Juve are entertaining another season with Max Allegri, and if we are owed an apology for waiting so long to see the Chiesa-Vlahovic-Yildiz trident in action. Juventus are believed to be following Shakhtar Donetsk midfielder and Ukraine international Heorhiy Sudakov, whose current employers value him at a sum of €30m according to recent reports. According to Tuttosport, the Bianconeri and sporting director Cristiano Giuntoli have somewhat of a plan to bring the highly-rated 21-year-old over to Turin in January, but only if certain conditions are met before then. With Paul Pogba now facing a multiple-year suspension and Nicolo Fagioli not back before the end of the 2023-24 season, Juventus are still in need of midfield reinforcements, but would likely need to move players on to raise funds before bringing any more in. Tuttosport reports that England U21 international Samuel Iling-Junior is the most likely to be moved on, more so than other emerging talents such as Matias Soule or Kenan Yildiz. Iling-Junior is believed to have admirers in the Premier League, including Tottenahm, who would need to pay a fee in excess of €20m to acquire his services. If Juve were able to move players on for reasonable fees in January, there could potentially be incomings according to Monday's report. While Sudakov remains at the top of Juventus' wishlist, Atletico's Rodrigo De Paul also remains an enticing option. --- Send in a voice message: https://podcasters.spotify.com/pod/show/nwosu-chizoba-david/message

The were plenty of players leaving compared to players arriving, as we take a look at how Juve's Cristiano Giuntoli-led front office did during its first summer mercato. Things are getting very, very interesting — and maybe not for the better — on the summer transfer market as the Cristiano Giuntoli era gets underway at Juventus. On this week's episode of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: So, about those Remulu Lukaku rumors that have Juventus basically replacing Dusan Vlahovic with the big Belgian who may or may not be on the decline of his career. That price Juve are reportedly going to pay if they do indeed sign Lukaku seems like A LOT for somebody who is his age and his struggled for large stretches of the last few years. Of course, there's the reason why Juventus are pursuing Lukaku: the anticipated sale of Vlahovic, who is being heavily linked with a move to Paris Saint-Germain over the last week. Another player who Juve could be bringing in: midfielder Franck Kessie, who is one of the handful of players Barcelona are wanting to get rid of this summer. Reports out of Italy say that Juve captain Leonardo Bonucci is out of the squad, with the 36-year-old no longer in the club's plans and is on the transfer market.

The summer transfer window is officially here, and the same pretty much goes for the guy who is expected to rebuild Juventus into a title contender in Serie A after he was freed from his contract with Napoli. On this week's episode of the Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: There's been a lot of smoke as usual — and that's before Juve hired somebody to head the sporting area of the front office. The soon-to-be official arrival of Cristiano Giuntoli gives Juventus something that they haven't had in quite a while — somebody from outside of the Exor bubble and worked his way up the Juve ladder these last few years. Adrien Rabiot has officially signed up for another year and Timothy Weah have officially arrived, so does that mean more 3-5-2 next season? If Juve runs the 3-5-2 back, things aren't looking good for Federico Chiesa sticking around. How surprised are we that Rabiot ended up taking a one-year contract extension? Twitter questions — including what advice we'd give Cristiano Giuntoli as he starts his new job at Juventus, why are Juve being so stubborn when it comes to the 3-5-2, and if there's any way for Juve to balance the books without a big-time sale involving somebody like Dusan Vlahovic or Bremer. Juventus were able to slay one of their recent boogeymen with a successful trip to Bergamo, sending the Bianconeri into second place as the race for a top four spot heats up with four games to go in the 2022-23 season. On this week's episode of The Old Lady Speaks Podcast, we discuss: Takeaways from the week that was — how scared we are about Juventus messing things up with Samuel Iling-Junior, how nice it is to have some squad depth at this time of the season and it's nice to have it at Max Allegri's disposal, and Mattia De Sciglio's season-ending injury on magnifies how Juve's depth at fullback/wingback is not up to par. Juventus beat Lecce. Good times! Juventus also beat Atalanta. Even better times! There were some good things to come out of the 2-0 win over Atalanta despite seeing La Dea record a whole lot of shots but really not put much on target. Looking ahead to Thursday's first leg of the Europa League semifinal against Sevilla, the masters of the competition who have found form after a managerial change.
