Auch wenn der schweizer Understatesman immer noch den alten Witz mit den 40 Punkten erzählt, während Oliver Ruhnert vor Lachen nicht in den Schlaf kommt. Nun ja. Aber wir wären ja nicht der Lieblingspodcast von Tommi Schmitt, würden wir nicht auch diesmal wieder ansatzlos die Richtung wechseln und einmal ungebremst durch die Gegenwart fallen. Von Köpenick nach Australien, wo ein Präsident sich selbst den Todeskuss gegeben hat. Oder von Leverkusen nach Saudi-Arabien, wo derzeit die größte Ü-30-Party der Welt stattfindet. Und am Ende auch von Hamburg nach Miami, wo Lionel Messi gerade seinen 44. Titel gewonnen hat und jetzt eigentlich nur noch auf den Oscar für Barbie wartet. Ihr kennt uns, wir können nichts dafür. Gerrard was born blind and yet from an early age lived life wholeheartedly.  He even rode his bike to school each day as a kid, following his brothers bike.  He is a paralympian, has summited Mt Everest, been on dancing with the stars, he owns two chocolate shops and is planning to swim the English channel later in the year.  He is a remarkable man.

We've spent another week away from the mic with Will's scenic albeit wifi-free Colorado vacation and Martin's focus being channeled towards his JdP piece, but we're back feeling restored and ready to rumble. This week, Will spearheads a discussion on Robin Gosens, a player he's had his eye on for a while, but who finally drew international attention after his spectacular showing against Portugal. Our questions are simple: just how did he do it, and now that the cat's out of the bag, is there any way to stop him?The conversation starts with a foray into the game itself, some remarks about various passages of play, and Will's summary of the main components Gosens delivered to his side. We ponder how it's possible that he was practically always unmarked, how he always only used one touch, and why Portugal never seemed to have an answer.
