Looking for daily inspiration? Get a quote from the top leaders in the industry in your inbox every morning. TJ Christensen is the Founding Partner and CEO of BlueGator, a company dedicated to helping theme parks, zoos, aquariums, museums, and other attractions enhance their operations by leveraging Salesforce as a CRM and data integration platform. TJ's journey into hospitality began as a Disney College Program participant working in parking at Disney MGM Studio (now Hollywood Studios), where he caught the “hospitality bug.” From there, he advanced through roles in sales, marketing, and guest experience at Disney, followed by a decade-long tenure at accesso, leading their sales operations and helping the company expand globally. BlueGator, co-founded with a former accesso colleague, focuses on bringing advanced data integration solutions to nonprofits and attractions, streamlining their guest and donor engagement processes. In this interview, TJ talks about wrestling with data, connecting the dots, and the four key metrics. Wrestling with Data "You have to bring all the data that each one of those systems has, and you have to make sense of it and be able to use it." TJ discusses the challenge of consolidating data from disconnected systems within attractions and nonprofits, where operations often rely on multiple, independent platforms like ticketing systems, point-of-sale systems, and fundraising tools. This lack of integration leads to "wrestling with data," requiring manual workarounds that are time-consuming and prone to errors. BlueGator's approach centers on creating a unified platform using Salesforce, eliminating data silos and providing a comprehensive view of guest interactions and operations. By streamlining data, TJ's team helps operators overcome the “spaghetti and spiderwebs” of traditional data integration, reducing friction and allowing them to better serve guests and meet organizational goals. Connecting the Dots "It's not just about the ones and zeros. It's about the impact that experience can have on someone's trajectory in life." For TJ, effective data integration goes beyond the technology itself—it's about enhancing guest experiences and making meaningful connections. He emphasizes that whether it's a visit to a museum, zoo, or aquarium, the interactions guests have can be life-changing, fostering lifelong passions or interests. BlueGator's work involves linking disparate data streams—like ticketing and donor engagement systems—to present a holistic view of each visitor's journey. This integration allows attractions to personalize interactions, boost guest engagement, and foster deeper emotional connections. TJ draws from his background at Disney and accesso to illustrate how technology can support meaningful guest engagement without losing sight of the human impact. The Four Key Metrics "Recency, frequency, duration, and spend—those are the four pillars or key metrics." TJ introduces the framework of four key metrics—recency, frequency, duration, and spend—as a way to measure and optimize guest engagement. By focusing on how recently a guest visited, how often they return, how long they stay, and how much they spend, operators can build targeted strategies to maximize value and deepen relationships with their visitors. TJ explains that this structured approach allows attractions to understand and anticipate guest behavior, enabling tailored communications and offers that drive repeat visits and greater overall satisfaction. BlueGator applies this framework to create data-driven solutions that help operators achieve their business goals while keeping guests at the center of their mission. Welcome to The Nonlinear Library, where we use Text-to-Speech software to convert the best writing from the Rationalist and EA communities into audio. This is: Implementing activation steering, published by Annah on February 5, 2024 on LessWrong. Produced as part of the SERI ML Alignment Theory Scholars Program - Autumn 2023 Cohort and while being an affiliate at PIBBSS in 2024. A thank you to @Jayjay and @fela for helpful comments on this draft. This blog post is an overview of different ways to implement activation steering with some of my takes on their pros and cons. See also this GitHub repository for my minimal implementations of the different approaches. The blog post is aimed at people who are new to activation/representation steering/engineering/editing. General approach The idea is simple: we just add some vector to the internal model activations and thus influence the model output in a similar (but sometimes more effective way) to prompting. Example[1]: Imagine that some vector in the internal representations in some transformer layer encodes a direction associated with "Love". When you add this vector to the activations of some encoded sentence "I hate the world", you change the internal representation (and thus the meaning) to something more like "I love the world". This graphic might help with an intuition: In general there are a few steps involved which I simplify in the following: Decide on a layer l and transformer module ϕ to apply the activation steering to. Define a steering vector. In the simplest case we just take the difference of the activations of two encoded strings like v=ϕl(Love)ϕl(Hate). Add the vector to the activation during the forward pass. In the simplest case it's something like ~ϕl=ϕl+v. Each of the three points mentioned above includes complexities you might encounter as a beginner. Feel free to move on to the next section if you prefer. You can do activation steering at pretty much any layer/module in the transformer. It's often done at the residual stream of one of the hidden layers. However, if you want to do activation steering by modifying the bias parameter, you need to do it in a transformer module that has a specific structure. This is usually not the residual stream but one can do it in the attention or the mlp module. When defining a direction there are several things that might complicate it: Tokens: When encoding a word or a short sentence it is often encoded into several tokens, so when you get to the internal activation ϕl(Love) you don't just have one vector but one vector per token. Even worse, 'Love' and 'Hate' might not be encoded with the same number of tokens, so then ϕl(Love) and ϕl(Hate) are two matrices with different dimensions. You can come up with different ways of how to deal with this, but one simple solution is to just use the representation of the last token since it should have all information encoded. Careful; if you use batches, you'll likely want to use left padding when choosing the last token to ensure your last token isn't a padding token. Data: You can potentially create a more meaningful steering vector, for instance, by averaging several vectors from contrastive pairs (for example "I love the world" - "I hate the world" or "I dislike cats" - "I adore cats"), applying PCA on a relevant dataset, or training a linear classifier and using its weights as the steering direction. Here are additional factors that may add complexity to the process of activation steering: Tokens: The question arises to which activations you actually want to add your steering vector. When you encode some text you could for example add it at the first token or the last or even at every token. I chose to do the latter, adding at every token of the new text. Careful; if you use batches you might not want to add to padding tokens. Scaling: In some cases, for example when v=ϕl(Love)ϕl(Hate), the length of the steering vector already contains some meaningful information. However yo...

Human rights are one of the major innovations of the 20th century. Their emergence after World War II and global uptake promised a new world of universalized humanity in which human dignity would be protected, and individuals would have agency and flourish. The proliferation of digital data (i.e. datafication) and its intertwining with our lives, coupled with the growth of AI, signals a fundamental shift in the human experience. To date, human rights have not yet grappled fully with the implications of datafication. Yet, they remain our best hope for ensuring human autonomy and dignity, if they can be rebooted to take into account the “stickiness” of data. The talk will discuss how international human rights are structured, introduce the notion of Data You, why Data You is here to stay, and how this affects notions of data rights. Tracking KPIs in Contract Management with Amy SennettWe sat down with Amy Sennett, Associate General Counsel at OpenText, and discussed how being an in-house generalist differs from being outside counsel and the biggest challenges she faced after leaving the law firm.We also discussed when a company should look to hire external counsel and how having a CLM tool helps various teams in an organization come together and be more collaborative. Amy also shared her thoughts on the types of data companies should extract and track after implementing a CLM tool and how electronic signatures are essential in a post-pandemic world.Amy has been with OpenText for a little over eight months. She has been handling the challenges of meeting, growing, and leading her team virtually during the global pandemic. Amy did not want to be just a lawyer for her entire career. She has always wanted to be a part of organizations and teams that are building upon common and collective goals. Amy gradually realized that her practice was becoming increasingly specialized.OpenText is a Canadian organization and world leader in information management. The company helps organizations securely capture, exchange, and govern information on an international scale. OpenText solves various digital business challenges and issues for customers. These customers range from small and medium-sized businesses to some of the biggest and most complex companies in the world. How being an In-House Generalist Differs from being Outside CounselAmy thinks that when you are in-house, you are part of the implementation. You have to work hard to convince and persuade the relevant department or function in your organization to implement your recommended solution.Biggest Challenges after Leaving the Law FirmAs part of her first in-house job, Amy moved to a venture-backed company in Boston. She was the second lawyer at that company. The company had about 120 employees. One of the biggest changes and challenges Amy had to face was realizing that she had to convince her colleagues outside of the legal function to take her advice or adopt what she was recommending. This was different from how things work at a law firm, where professionals, such as partners and associates, agree on the overall strategy and approach. On the other hand, in a company, it seems that the legal department has completely different goals and objectives than, for example, the sales or product team. For instance, the relationship between the legal team and sales team is usually tenuous as their goals are quite different and even conflicting. When does a Company need to Hire External CounselAmy is of the view that your internal legal team has to be an expert in your business, especially your commercial contracts. For example, they should know the products, routes to markets, and sales processes. She believes that commercial matters and commercial contracts should be kept in house as they are relationship-driven. On the other hand, when there is an issue that is affecting lots of businesses across an industry or even multiple industries and where you don't really need specialized knowledge of a specific firm or company but you need someone that can do something repeatedly or at scale, this is where hiring outside counsel makes sense and can be effective. One good example is the implementation of the GDPR regulation. This is because your company does not need to gain that specialty or deep knowledge within your company.Does Having a CLM Tool helps Various Teams Come TogetherAmy thinks that even in a small firm, professionals are using tech in some manner, for example, a spreadsheet, to track their output and stay organized. As your company grows and you have more resources at your disposal, you will be able to leverage legal tech and similar tools. These tools are custom-designed for legal teams to reveal the data to drive and improve your legal function. What Types of Data You should Extract and Track after Implementing a CLM ToolAmy believes that you have to know your organization and who is influential in your organization to make that determination. You also have to determine what information could be impactful and meaningful to them and what problems you are trying to solve by implementing a contract management tool and pulling out specific data. What KPIs and Legal Metrics or Analytics should Organizations Use?Amy thinks that the term legal metrics or KPIs is applicable in limited situations. This can be, for example, when you have a very high number of standardized, non-negotiated, or templatized documents. However, when you are dealing with documents that require legal negotiations, a better approach is tracking legal analytics. For example, all your contracts in the healthcare sector may take more time than you think. This can help uncover important insights you may otherwise miss.Amy thinks that using qualitative trends rather than just quantitative data, such as turnaround time, can be more valuable and insightful for an organization.Electronic SignaturesAmy thinks that electronic signatures are the future of contract management and make a lot of sense, especially in the post-pandemic world. Electronic signatures are essential as they help you execute contracts faster and streamline the process. They are also great for a mobile workforce. This is because contracts can be signed virtually, which is convenient. You can make your transactions quick as well as convenient with the help of electronic signatures and reduce the risk of error associated with paper-based contracts. Two Metrics to Keep an Eye on when Considering a CLM ToolIt is important to understand your organization and business model. For example, note that different metrics can be either valuable or detrimental, depending on the situation and circumstances. You have to know the cadence and rhythm of your business and your contracting lifecycle to know what data you have to extract and highlight out of a tool in order to make it useful. It is important to set up legal tech that makes your legal team look good and be in harmony with the sales team. Most importantly, you should understand your business processes and optimize them as there is little to gain from automating a broken process.
Becoming the Best Storyteller Possible Jim Benton is the CEO of Chorus AI, a leader in conversation intelligence, who helps people understand the conversation that their sales teams are having with their customers. Technology is more important than ever as it can be used to tell stories that help your clients understand what it is you offer. However, with the pandemic, it is all the more challenging to know these stories within your sales team and what their activities might include. Becoming the best storyteller Three ways to become great storytellers: Authenticity A sales rep can be authentic and relaxed when he's prepared. He has to understand what's required of him to be present in the conversation and not be distracted. Experience Experience is tied to authenticity. The most authentic stories come from those that you have personally experienced. New sales reps who don't have stories of their own can share what they observe. This means paying attention to the details of what is going on around them and the colleagues they work with. Data You need to have a way to validate and anchor the story so it connects to you and your client. The story is an effective way of building trust because people are more laid back when they're sharing their stories. They're more likely to exchange better information. As sales reps, this is where you need to be attentive. Once the story and rapport is established you can also add metrics and other relevant statistics to anchor a data point and enhance credibility. Storytelling and technology It's critical to connect with people and technology helps us do that. It bridges the gap between sales reps and prospects. Once meetings have taken place, the sales team can use AI to share conversations everyone can listen to and learn from. It becomes an automated tool for coaching that comes straight from the customer. “Becoming the Best Storyteller Possible” episode resources Follow Jim Benton via his LinkedIn account. More Fun Disney World Updates April 2017 - We have more fun and cool things coming to Walt Disney World It's another great week for Walt Disney World fans. There is more news of gondolas coming to Walt Disney World. This new major transportation system at Walt Disney World would releave some traffic from the Disney Value All Star and Art of Animation Resorts as well as Caribbean Beach and Coronado Springs to Disney Hollywood Studios. Star Wars - Star Ship Hotel coming? Another Disney World rumor is a Star Wars Resort Hotel. The Star Wars hotel is an all-inclusive experience according to the rumor. The Star Wars hotel would be a two day experience in the star ship. This sounds like a mash-up of the Disney Hollywood Studios light-saber training, some elements from Disney Cruise Line, mixed with a boutique hotel. Surveys at Walt Disney World have been done and hopefully this is coming in the future at Walt Disney World. There are even new "working" light-sabers coming to Disney World. Other Disney World News: Frozen Summer Games are back at Disney's Blizzard Beach Universal Orlando Resort News: Universal Studios is doing a new Harry Potter Christmas at both of their Orlando Florida Parks. This is going to be amazing. These two Harry Potter lands decorated for Christmas and the castle projections I think will be extremely popular. The Universal event dates are Nov 18 2017 - Jan 6, 2018. Please listen to our full Mouse Chat Disney Podcast for all of these Disney and Universal news stories and more. Disney Free Dining Is Free Dining being released later today? It's 12:15 AM on Monday, April 24, 2017 and we are up talking on Mouse Chat about Disney Free Dining. Disney World has a fantastic vacation offer, Disney Free Dining. This historically has been the best vacation deal going every year. You get to eat for free when you buy the specific Disney World vacation package. But each year the dates that free dining are available get more and more limited and also what you have to add to your Disney World vacation package gets more in-depth. Will Disney Free Dining come out for 2017? We don't know and that is why we are up at 12:15 AM and are discussing the topic today on Mouse Chat. Our Mouse Chat Disney podcast in the early hours today covers all the Free Dining rumors that are out there as we wait to see if Disney announces Free Dining today. Historically Disney World Free Dining has come out the last Monday of April for the last two years. So there is a good chance Disney World Free Dining could come out today. If Free Dining is released later today we will post a follow up with the Disney Free Dining Offer here for everyone. Free at Walt Disney World Get our list of things you can get for free. Walt Disney World Updates for April We have put together the latest Disney World news to help you with your up-coming trip. We start with the new Walt Disney World security check points so you can quickly get into the Magic Kingdom. If you are staying at a Disney World monirail resort the security check point for you is at your resort so you can quickly get into the Magic Kingdom. Chris stayed at Disney's Grand Floridian Villas in a one bedroom villa. These rooms are the most luxurious rooms on Disney World property. For the full Grand Floridian Villa Resort review please listen to our Mouse Chat Disney podcast here or on iTunes. There is a character breakfast at the Disney Boardwalk - Trattoria al Forno. The characters from the Little Mermaid and Tangled are there and the interaction was fantastic. The food at Trattoria al Forno was very good. This is not a traditional American breakfast, except for the pancakes. The food is amazing and we give it two thumbs up. We are excited to see the more adventurous dining at Walt Disney World and this character breakfast is one of our Disney hidden gems. The Polite Pig is open at Disney Springs. It's a modern BBQ style restraunt that is really reasonably priced for a tourist location. I love BBQ and would love to give the Polite Pig a try for lunch at Disney Springs. It is very nice to see new restaurant opening up at Disney Springs that allow you to order at the register and sit and relax without having to do a full sit down dining experience. I like to shop and explore Disney Springs and a full service dining experience is great for dinner but sometimes I want something a little quicker for lunch. The Polite Pig looks like a great option. Hopefully we will try this and do a review on one of our next trips to Walt Disney World. Disneyland Paris turns 25 this year and we cover what's new for the anniversary. Please listen to Mouse Chat for the list of 25th anniversary events. We are back from Universal Studios in Orlando Florida. We stayed at Loews Portofino Bay Resort and it was a perfect resort for a boat ride or tropical walk to Universal Studios. We got a call from The Tonight Show starring Jimmy Fallon and they asked to use our Wagon Queen Family Truckster to open The Tonight Show and their ride at Universal Studios Orlando. You can see the Cold Open from The Tonight Show here with our car. We also got to attend The Tonight Show one night in Orlando at Universal. Disney World just by itself is an amazing vacation, but there are loads of extras you can add on that most people don't even know about it. Upgrade your Disney Resort Room to Club Level - If you want something a little extra special at Walt Disney World, try Club Level next time. The deluxe Disney resorts each have a nice Club Level area with the flavor of the resort. Wilderness Lodge will have American flair. Animal Kingdom Lodge has curries and is a good opportunity to try lots of foods that you normally would not order a full entree of. The Disney Polynesian has that Pacific Rim style cooking in their Club Level lounge. Also each Disney lounge has places to sit and relax, drinks, and desserts too. We love the automatic cappuccino makers too for breakfast or a quick pick me up later in the day. Book an extra ticketed Disney World event - I love Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party or Disney Worlds Christmas Party. These extra ticketed events at WDW start at 7 PM and go until midnight (Hint: You can actually get in at 4 PM). Did I already say I love these parties? Both events are fantastic and a bargain. I personally do not get a park ticket for this day, just the event ticket. We go to our Disney World Resort pool for the day and take a nap with the kids. at 3 or 3:30 PM we get on the Disney bus to the Magic Kingdom and go into the party. The Disney World Halloween Party has one of the best parades if not the best parade at Disney World and HalloWishes fireworks literally surround you. Also the wait times for the attractions and rides are very minimal. It's a bargan with all the special extras you get. You can book either Disney special event with a Mouse Chatter here / Pixie at PixieVacations.com. We are happy to go over the different Disney World special events and book them for you as part of your Disney World vacation package. Disney World Tours - If you want to learn more about Disney or just enjoy really cool tours, all of the Walt Disney World Tours are great. We have been on several tours at the Magic Kingdom and also the behind the seeds tour at EPCOT. Please listen to our Disney podcast here for details on the tours. Star Wars Disney Dessert Party - Star Wars a Galactic Spectacular at Disney Hollywood Studios. There are specialty drinks, coffee, desserts and snacks. Also after the dessert party you get a special area to watch the show. $69.00 per person and it's totally worth it. You have to get to the nighttime Star Wars show 45 minutes before it begins to get a good spot by the Chinese Theater, so having a reserved area for the show as part of the dessert party is great. More Disney World Extras - To hear all of our Disney World extras, please listen to our Mouse Chat Disney Podcast. Should you see Rivers of Light at Disney's Animal Kingdom? We booked the Rivers of Light dining package so we could review Rivers of Light at Disney's Animal Kingdom for you. Tusker House for lunch was fabulous. We have two adults an 11 year old and a 7 year old. Our total bill for the buffet lunch with tax and tip was $220. That's a bunch of money for lunch but again the variety of food at Tusker House is a relief when you have been eating chicken nuggets and burgers at theme parks. The seating for the 7:15 PM Rivers of Light show when you get the dining package, is great. I would get to the Rivers of Light seating area at 6:30 - 6:45 PM for the 7:15 PM show. This is for those that have the Rivers of Light dining package. If you don't have the Rivers of Light dining package you need to get to the show earlier to get a seat. I also would get a Fastpass if you did not purchase the dining package. Rivers of Light Review First, it is great to see some night time activities at Animal Kingdom. The nighttime safari, the Tree of Life show and now Rivers of Light. If you have seen Wishes at the Magic Kingdom, or Fantasmic at Disneyland or Disney World, Or World of Color at Disneyland, Rivers of Light is nothing like these which for me was disappointing. I think my expectations were set to high. The last two Disney nighttime shows I saw were Dreams at Disneyland Paris and World of Color at Disneyland. Those shows are AMAZING! Rivers of Light is worth seeing once but lacked emotion. I was hoping Disney would take the best from World of Color with projections and fountains, and add like actors, to that type of show. What's nice about Rivers of Light. This shows extends Animal Kingdom to a full day park and gives you something to gather with family and friends to watch. The floats are beautiful Seating seems to be good from most if not all of the river side seating areas. Lauren is back from a week at Walt Disney World and we cover what's new and tips from her Disney World Trip Report. We normally don't do trip reports but there is so much new at Disney World and Lauren went down to experience it. Paddle Fish is now open and Lauren ate and also toured Paddle Fish with her husband and gives it two thumbs up. Be sure to listen to our Disney podcast for the full review. Visit Avatar - Disney opening day for Avatar is May 27, 2017 and Sharpie is heading to Walt Disney World to be there for the opening day. This is Walt Disney Worlds newest land since Magic Kingdom opened the new Fantasyland at the Magic Kingdom. We are really excited to see this new land at Animal Kingdom. I don't think Disney PR will invite us to the opening events, but we will be there for opening day paying our own way to give you our feedback, tips, and first looks at everything Avatar. Disney Wide World of Sports - The new sports facility is coming along and looks like it's set to maybe open late 2017. So new cheer hopefully can compete here in 2018. This is exciting for the Disney cheer community. 28,000 sq feet, 8,000 seats, WOW! Disney Wishes ends it run at the Magic Kingdom - The final night for Wishes is May 11, 2017. Happily Ever After will replace Wishes and premiers May 12, 2017. We love Wishes because of the fireworks that are in the show. We suspect the new Happily Ever After show will be more about the projection technology than the firework displays, but we will have to wait and see. Their journey will end in an unforgettable encounter with a Na’vi Shaman, a figure who has a deep connection to the life force of Pandora. We spend four days at Universal Orlando Resort and stayed at several of the Universal Loews resorts and toured all of them. Cabana Bay Beach Resort Universal Cabana Bay is themed after the retro 1950's and 60's. If you are use to staying at a Disney Value Resort when you come to Orlando, this resort at Universal Orlando is going to take your breath away. For the same price, or just a little bit more than a Disney World Value Resort, Cabana Bay at Universal Orlando offers so much more. The resort has two pools and a lazy river. Also Cabana Bay Beach Resort has a massive fitness center. This is not a hotel room without the bed and two treadmills. This fitness center is massive and is not like any resort gym you have experienced. These rooms have indoor access for most rooms, so pool side rooms have outside access. The rooms even have VO5. Oh and by the way there is also a waterslide. Now with the Lazy River you can bring your own tubes and they will fill them up, or you can get a Cabana Bay logo tube and they make for great souvenirs. Cabana Bay Beach Resort also has a lounge with a retro feel, a full bowling alley, a 1950's decor Starbucks, a very well appointed food court and very nice hotel rooms. If you have not stayed at Cabana Bay Beach Resort and are looking for an entry level priced resort on Universal Studios property, this resort is amazing. It's hard to beat the value of Cabana Bay, but we have several other Universal Orlando Resorts to cover. Sapphire Falls The newest Universal Orlando Resort is stunning! Sapphire Falls has a magnificent lobby and a grand staircase that is perfect for photos. We all really love Sapphire Falls. The decor, the colors, the tropical pool area all made us want to book our next Universal vacation here. The Sapphire Falls bar, lobby, restaurants, are all very inviting. The rooms also have a modern feel. These rooms start at $179 per tax off season as of this podcast. The water taxi also accesses this resort. Just like all Universal on property resort their is a fitness center with the latest equipment. Loews Royal Pacific For a little bit more than staying at Sapphire Falls you can stay at Loews Royal Pacific. This hotel is our personal favorite. Royal Pacific is Hawaii in Orlando and it's so tropical and relaxing. Royal Pacific even has a Hawaiian Luau on the weekends. Insider Tip: When you stay here you get the Unlimited Express Pass to the Universal Studios Parks. This is a minimum of an $89 per person per day value. If you stayed just one night at Royal Pacific you get two days of Unlimited Express Pass. There is a tropical zero entry pool, volleyball court, cabana rentals, poolside bar and grill. Emeralds has a restraunt here too. We ate in Island's Dining room for the character breakfast. The food was great and the characters were so much fun. Gru and Kevin the minion stopped by our table and so did Homer and Bart Simpson. You never saw so many adults get excited to see the characters. Hard Rock Hotel at Universal Studios Orlando If you want a hotel with action and non-stop activities you should look into Hard Rock. This hotel sells out quickly so if you want to stay here you need to book it early. The rooms are modern, you can check out a guitar from the front desk to practice jamming in your room. Yes they come with headphones. There are concerts in the lobby. Velvet Sessions take place once a month in the lobby and have different groups that you can get tickets to. Even the pool plays music under the water. The Palm and the Kitchen are both wonderful places to dine and the resort is covered in rock memorabilia. The Hard Rock Hotel comes with the Unlimited Express Pass for front of the line access to select rides at both Universal parks. Also the water taxi stops right out front. The Hard Rock Hotel is also the closest one to the Universal Parks and you can walk to Universal Studios Florida in about 5 minutes. All Onsite Universal resorts offer early entry into the Universal Parks for resort guests. The early entry changes day to day and usually is the Harry Pottery attraction. This gets you into Harry Potter an hour before regular park guests and this is invaluable. Loews Portofino Bay Portofino Bay is Universal top luxury resort. Coming in at four diamonds this resort takes you to Italy without the long flight and passport. The largest rooms on property with very large bathrooms, and the courtyard takes you back to Italy. There is a Spa, two large pool areas with themed pools. If you want to eat outside and stroll thee cobblestone streets you are going to love Portofino Bay. We had dinner and also breakfast at Portofino Bay. Dinner at Mama's was excellent and entertaining. Mama came by our table with two opera singers and they sang a few songs to our group. The family style Italian eatery is Mama's house and even the dishes are miss matched as she takes them out of her kitchen. If you are looking for a luxury resort at Universal Studios Orlando, or if you have a group traveling or convention group, this resort is perfect. Insider Tip: We can book any of these Universal Studios on property resorts for you. If you are planning a Universal Orlando vacation, wedding, or event a convention group, please contact us. There is no charge to book with us and we can go over all the latest vacation packages with you. You also get our expert advice and help planning our vacation or group event. The quit pool area is now a full feature pool and has expanded about four times the size and is themed as an old time rock quarry (Boulder Ridge). It rocks! There is a new bar and restaurant also opening. Villas are coming to the Wilderness Lodge and new cabins out by the water. The Wilderness Lodge cabins have a nice modern feel inside. The Wilderness Lodge cabins will have fireplaces too. Tomorrow land - Could the tomorrow land speedway be going away at Walt Disney World? There is a rumor floating around, but it's hard to tell if this is true. I love the sound of the gas powered cars. Also this is many kids first driving experience at Walt Disney World. Hopefully this rumor is false. Join us on Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and Instagram. Mouse Chat Facebook Mouse Chat Instagram Mouse Chat Twitter Mouse Chat YouTube We would love to hear from you. Disney Dine on the go dining plan - $29 per adult and $12 for kids. With the Disney dine on the go dining plan you get two Disney quick service meals at the Magic Kingdom. You have to have lunch before 4 PM and dinner after 4 PM. The Disney dine on the go plan is only available at the Magic Kingdom. You get one meal and one drink for lunch and dinner. If you are planning a Walt Disney World Vacation the traditional Disney Quick Service Dining Plan, or Disney Dining Plan might be a better option for you. We think the average meal price at Disney World at Quick Service is about $15. Twitter Girl Mandy tested the Disney Dine On The Go plan and saved $4 for the day vs. buying her meals without the plan. $4 is not a great deal, but for a family of four that's $16 saved. But if you skip a meal and go on a ride instead or your kids fall asleep, then you are losing money. Also ask yourself if you normally eat lunch and dinner at the Magic Kingdom? I like to snack and see attractions so I might eat just one meal myself at the Magic Kingdom. So for me this new Disney Dine on the go plan is not ideal. Do the math and also do the math with the traditional Disney dining plans. Please contact a Mouse Chatter Pixie at Pixie Vacations to help you determine the best option for your vacation. Will you book this new walk up Magic Kingdom Dining plan during your next trip to Disney World? Please share your thoughts. Steve has left his day job, at least for now, so you can now enjoy even more Disney destination news from Steve and the rest of the Mouse Chatters. :) We are covering the top must dos at the Magic Kingdom. Must Do Magic Kingdom 1. The Jungle Cruise - The jungle cruise entirely debends on the cast member you get. But when you have a wonderful skipper this attraction is like no other. Sharpie loves the Jungle Cruise at the Magic Kingdom and if you can only do this attraction once during your vacation, he recommends a day time cruise. 2. Wishes - The firework show at the Magic Kingdom is a must do. This show takes place at Cinderellas Castle and is one of the best fireworks shows you will ever see. 3. Enjoy a Dole Whip - To get a taste of the Magic Kingdom stop by Adventure Land and get a Dole Whip. This tropical treat helps you beat the heat and is very crisp and refreshing. 4. Haunted Mansion - This classic Disney World ride is a must do. It's not that scary and makes for a fun family attraction. 5. Pirates of the Caribbean - Another classic Disneyland attraction that is at the Magic Kingdom in a different form is a must see. I don't normally get a fast pass for this attraction as the wait time is maybe 20-30 minutes most days. More Must Do's at the Magic Kingdom are on this weeks Mouse Chat Podcast so be sure to listen to help plan your Disney vacation. Wigwam Socks Why is this photo in the Mouse Chat show notes? Walt Disney World Fun New Things There are several new experiences at Walt Disney World Rent a cabana for $700 at the Magic Kingdom. These are in Tomorrow land and look like small catering tents. The insides look nice and modern. For $700 you can relax, charge your cellphone, and have a Mickey bar. But for less than $700 you could book a room at Disney's Contemporary Resort. The Contemporary is just minutes away by the monorail or walking. I can see how these spaces work well at water parks, but we will have to wait and see if they work in the Disney Parks.Disney World Express Bus ServiceThere is a new bus service (express) for $15 per person. You get picked up behind the park, and the buses run every 30 minutes. Multi-day service is also available for less money ($24 for a 7 day pass). These buses run park to park, so this could be good for park hopping guests.
