Following the "Made by Google" launch event last week, we talk through how the Pixel Watch, Pixel 7, Pixel 7 Pro, and Pixel Tablet compare to Apple's devices on the latest episode of The MacRumors Show podcast. The Pixel Watch features a striking round design with a 41mm stainless steel casing, and offers an always-on display, 24-hour battery life, and Fitbit sleep tracking, for a price of $349. With Apple Watch features like blood oxygen monitoring, ECG, Fall Detection, Emergency SOS, 32GB of memory, and more, we talk through how the Pixel Watch compares to Apple's long-reigning smart watch. The Pixel 7 and Pixel 7 Pro offer many features that will be familiar to iPhone users such as 2x crop mode to simulate a telephoto lens, Cinematic Blur for video, Active Stabilization mode, and Face Unlock, but adds faster Night Sight, Photo Unblur, 8GB of memory, and the custom-silicon Tensor G2 chip. The devices look to directly compete with Apple's latest iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Pro models. Google also offered an early look at the Pixel Tablet that is set to launch next year. The tablet comes alongside a speaker dock that charges the device and turns it into a home-focused device to glance at information, display photos, and control smart home accessories. It doesn’t take any courage to be nice and the trauma so many of us are dealing with does not respond to nice either. Nice is thinking you judging, discriminating, avoiding, holding on to shame is not trauma, it is. You blaming folks for your suffering, not being able to be vulnerable or not being able to express the ugly feelings within yourself, this is all trauma. In this podcast episode I lay out things that trigger the trauma state, and in my research I found a technique that I used to help me navigate my trauma and still use today. So join me for this confronting yet healing episode. Make sure you like, share and leave a commit. Sending you joy and discovery ✌

The original version of this #Pixel4 vs. #iPhone11 video camera showdown had a couple small errors and was missing some visual explanations I really wanted to include. It was also totally buried by the YouTube algorithm. Maybe it was and is a bad video. Maybe the algorithm was having problems at the time. Who knows? Either way, I've updated the video, included some new b-roll that better explains and shows off the differences, and in the grand tradition of George Lucas, I'm re-uploading it as a Special Edition and an experiment. John's comprehensive critique of the much-leaked new Pixel smart phone. It has an impressive camera, with great low-light capabilities, but disappoints in other key areas like battery life and the lack of integration of Face Unlock into tap and go payment. He was considering an upgrade from his Pixel 2 but is adamant it won't be to this iteration of Google's device.

On this episode of the Droid Life Show, we're back with a Pixel 4 review! Our regular Pixel 4 review dropped this week, so we'll recap so many of our thoughts there, followed by separate thoughts concerning the bigger, Pixel 4 XL, which is now the focus. There's a lot to unpack here. Not only do we want to talk reviews, we need to talk about the standard Pixel-related drama that accompanies each Pixel launch. There's a possible issue with the 90Hz display being limited, bad battery life, features removed (like 4K/60fps video), missing eye detection in Face Unlock, and more.Once we're done with the Pixel 4, we have got to address the carriers' new RCS plan, SHIELD TV updates, and more.Trivia is back!
Back in 2017, Apple introduced Face ID on the iPhone X. It was the first real biometric facial geometry identification scanner. It couldn’t do multiple registrations like Touch ID, but what it did, it did even better — including and especially making authentication feel almost transparent. Now, Google has just released Face Unlock on the Pixel 4. The basic biometric facial geometry identification system is pretty much identical to Face ID. It adds some extra hardware and software for extra convenience, though, but some of that is region dependent and it’s also missing a key aspect of operational security. At least for now. So, which one is better and why? Let’s find out. SPONSOR: Brilliant Go to brilliant.org/vector and get 20% off their annual Premium subscription!
