Fungi - svampar i konst och vetenskap heter Nobelprismuseets nya utställning som handlar om allt från Björks svampmönstrade scenkläder till tecknade serier om hussvamp. Lyssna på alla avsnitt i Sveriges Radio Play. ”Om jag inte vore människa skulle jag vilja vara en svamp. En likgiltig känslolös svamp med kall glatt hud. Hård och nätt på samma gång.”Så skriver den polska Nobelpristagaren Olga Tokarczuk i boken ”Daghus, natthus”. Hennes svampfyllda texter kan man lyssna på i lurar på utställningen ”Fungi - svampar i konst och vetenskap” som nyligen öppnade på Nobelprismuseet i Stockholm. Där finns också artisten Björks svampmönstrade scenkläder och tecknade serier i jätteformat om hussvamp. Vår reporter Nina Asarnoj gick till Nobelprismuseet och stämde träff med en av utställningens curatorer, Magnus af Petersens, vid ett stort glasskåp med hyllorna fyllda av något som först ser ut som flugsvampar…Skåpet med Carsten Höllers tudelade svampar är helt fascinerande. Som om det vore gjort av en vetenskapsman som provsmakat på sitt giftiga arbetsmaterial. Utställningen ”Fungi” är mörk och lite gammeldags mystisk, som ett kuriosakabinett. Det är nedsläckt i lokalen och de olika stationerna med svamprelaterad konst och forskning och mode, är ljussatta som små scener. Svamp är ett ämne som ligger i tiden och curatorn Magnus af Petersens berättar hur de resonerade kring själva avgränsningen. Att gå runt på Nobelprismuseets svamputställning påminner lite om en tur på Naturhistoriska, med glasmontrar och pedagogiska planscher. Men jag känner samtidigt närvaron av något annat, svampframkallat, mörkt och lysande. Som artisten Björks klänning med giftgröna svampar mot svart botten, den hon bar i samband med släppet av skivan Fossora. Där en av låtarna heter just ”Mycelia”. Alltså de långa underjordiska trådar som förbinder svamparna med varandra och träden.Björk ville få kontakt med det underjordiska, med allt det som pågår under ytan. Och att se den här utställningen ”Fungi” är som att få syn på en annan värld, ytterligare en dimension. Som att marken jag går på inte längre bara består av jord och barr och löv utan expanderar neråt… jag blir medveten om att jag i skogen går på ett enormt nätverk av svamptrådar, de spindelvävstunna hyfer som tillsammans bildar de trådar vi kan se, alltså mycel, som genomkorsar allt. Och det finns de som kallar det Wood-wide Web.Jag stannar till vid det flera meter höga videoverk som visar ett regnskogsträd, det liksom pulserar i realtid, man får se hur näringen strömmar genom underjordiska svamptrådar kopplade till trädets rötter och vidare upp i stammen. Och hur trädet i sin tur förser svamparna med socker. Ett ständigt pågående utbyte av näring och samarbete mellan träd och svamp, berättar Karl-Johan Cottman, en av curatorerna för utställningen Fungi. På en annan vägg på utställningen ”Fungi” på Nobelprismuseet, sitter tecknade serier med svamptema. Det är serieskaparen Joanna Hellgren som fått i uppdrag att skildra svampens olika existensformer med hjälp av tecknade bilder och pratbubblor.Joanna Hellgrens serierutor är faktagranskade av Anders Dahlberg, professor i mykologi och författare till Boken ”Svamparnas förunderliga liv” som han skrivit tillsammans med biologen Anna Froster. Det är en bok som fick mig att drabbas av svampfeber och kunskapseufori. Det är en helt ny värld som öppnar sig. Som att de fruktkroppar vi känner igen som kantareller ofta är en och samma individ som poppar upp på olika ställen. Svampar med samma DNA spridda på en yta stor som en trerumslägenhet eller mer. Serieskaparen Joanna Hellgren berättar att hennes uppdrag först var att göra någonting specifikt om mycelet, men det blev till slut serier om det hon tyckte var mest fascinerande inom svampkunskapen.Just baskunskaperna om svamparnas betydelse på jorden är helt svindlande, att de varken är djur eller växter utan något eget. Både livsnödvändiga och hotfulla samtidigt. Ändå har vi bara kartlagt ungefär 5% av alla svampar, 95% är alltså fortfarande är oupptäckta. Trots att de finns överallt, i alla växer och i alla levande varelser. Att tio centimeter ner i marken finns ett slags parallellt universum av svampliv - en väv som förbinder allt som växer. Jag får en intensiv känsla av att allt kommunicerar… svampar och talande träd. Men curatorn Karl-Johan Cottman tycker inte att jag ska övertolka naturen. On September 30th, Bjork released Fossora — her 10th studio album. In contrast to the airy sounds of Utopia, Fossora features heavy bass clarinets and deals with different subject material — including the death of Bjork's mother. Zimbabwean author NoViolet Bulawayo has been shortlisted for the Booker Prize for the second time, this time for her second novel Glory. It's been five years since Björk last released an album, but now the Icelandic icon is back with a deeply inventive set called Fossora. Every sound on the record feels as if it's springing into the mix from a different direction, as her vibrant voice shares space with everything from bass clarinets to the voices of Björk's own offspring.
